4batz Officially Releases “Act III: On God?” Remix With Kanye West

4batz has quickly become one of the more controversial artists we have in R&B and hip-hop. Fans have been all sorts of confused as to how this Dallas, Texas singer became so popular. His single “act ii date @ 8” was the song that had the internet in a chokehold for better or worse depending on who you ask. It got so much buzz, that Drake even recognized that he had something cooking. Eventually, it led to them making a remix that some were also not to fond of. Another 4batz track that some felt did not need a remix of was “act iii: on god? (she like).”

A few weeks ago, a snippet of the “act iii” remix made the rounds on X, and it had revealed that Kanye West and 4batz had been working in the studio. Then, not too long after, another clip surfaced that saw the rookie and the vet relistening to their collaboration. Instead of being released as a fifth single to 4batz’s debut tape u made me a st4r, it became strictly an album cut. Even though people were highly critical of Ye’s verse, the lyrical content definitely matches the vibe of what 4batz likes to do.

Listen To “Act III: On God? (She Like) (Remix)” By 4batz & Kanye West

However, we can see why there were so many skeptics for this reason. The vocal delivery from Kanye comes across a little awkwardly, especially compared to what his enemy Drake did on his respective remix. All in all, it makes a for a decent, but not great first team-up. Still, give the remix of “act iii” a listen above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “act iii: on god? (she like) (Remix)” by 4batz and Kanye West? Do you think this remix was necessary, why or why not? How are you feeling about u made me a st4r so far? Do you still view him as an industry plant? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. I don’t touch a door, if I got some heavy bags, I don’t give a damn what man is right there, pick it up! It’s my world and everybody else is just living in it.”

Today in Hip-Hop History: Outkast Dropped Their Debut Album ‘Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik’ 30 Years Ago

outkast

On this day in Hip Hop history three decades ago, OutKast, the duo that helped pioneer putting southern Hip Hop on the map, released their debut classic LP, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.

This Dungeon Family masterpiece recorded by Andre 3000 and Big Boi paved the way for Atlanta and the rest of the Dirty South to have their unique voice in Hip Hop. Before this album, there weren’t many hit records coming from anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line. Peaking at #20 on the Billboard 200 and being certified platinum less than a year after its release, this album’s achievements speak for themselves.

Produced entirely by OutKast and Organized Noize, this project was like none before. Its sound is perfectly described as southern rap. Everything about this album screams Atlanta, from the dialect to the instruments used to the references. The smooth blues and marching band-influenced beats blend with Big Boi and Andre 3000’s flows, creating something new that rippled the tide of an industry saturated with G-Funk or New York Hip Hop.

Both commercially and critically, this album was immensely successful. It peaked at #20 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop charts. This album was also the reason OutKast received the Best Newcomer Award at the 1995 Source Awards, which, as we all know, was met with controversy. Regardless of the haters, this album came at the beginning of the career of two rappers who changed the game forever.

Lola Brooke Updates “Dennis Daughter” With Four Extra Cuts On The “Deluxe Version”

Lola Brooke is continuing to carve a nice niche for herself in the crowded rap scene of New York. From East Coast, drill, boom bap, and everything in between, it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle. That is especially true if you do not have some quality that makes you recognizable right away. Well, Lola Brooke has plenty of personality and an ear-grabbing voice which is why her album Dennis Daughter (Deluxe Version) has done so well.

But wait. When did she drop a bonus edition for Dennis Daughter. It was just yesterday that the tough as nails femcee tacked on an additional four cuts to the original 12-song tracklist. So far the tracks that have been working for Lola are “You” with Bryson Tiller, “Bend It Ova,” with A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, and “Don’t Play With It” with Latto and Yung Miami.

With all of these tracks from her first project doing so well, why not add more juice to an already fan-favorite body of work? Some of the tracks that bolstered the set of songs were already released. Those include the A Boogie collab, as well as “Becky” with fellow New York drill collective 41. The others include “Neighborhood Hero” and “GO GET YA MOTHA.” So far, we are enjoying “Neighborhood Hero” quite a bit for the animated performance, triumphant beat, and husky flows.

What are your thoughts on Dennis Daughter (Deluxe Version) by Lola Brooke? Is this something that she needed to do to for this project, why or why not? Which new songs are you enjoying the most right now? Which tracks have you been revisiting from the original release? Shabaka Composes An Incredible New Age Experience Across His Debut Album “Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace”

Shabaka has been a steady figure in the world of new age and jazz for about seven years or so and is highly respected. What is really impressive about that is the fact that the Londoner has not dropped a project yet. That is until this weekend, as Shabaka has just come through with his debut album, Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace. For this first official LP, he did not cheap out on the features and truly giving this project all of his soul and energy.

For example, the listed features are plentiful. Moses Sumney lands on “Innocence,” one of the three singles for Perceive Its Beauty. Shabaka also went and got Floating Points, rapper E L U C I D, as well as Saul Williams. However, the credits behind the scenes were also a major priority for Shabaka on Perceive Its Beauty. Andre 3000, who everyone knows tried his hand pretty successfully in this same space on New Blue Sun, is listed as a flute performer.

Shabaka spoke with Mojo about creating this album and ditching the saxophone his fans have come to know and love him for. “It’s weird when you come to the end of something musically, it forces you to sharpen up,” he said. “There’s something about knowing this is it – there’s no room for maneuver, it’s your chance to make your statement.” Make a statement he did.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new debut album Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace by Shabaka? What is the best song on the LP? Today In Hip Hop History: Mobb Deep Dropped Their Debut Album ‘Juvenile Hell’ 31 Years Ago

tumblr oobsaarlXu1t1yehoo1 1280

Juvenile Hell was the first album by duo Mobb Deep that paved the path for many other East Coast rappers of their genre, which only a few know preceded their most revered LP, The Infamous.

Dubbed as one of the most acclaimed East Coast rap duos of all time, MCs Havoc and Prodigy came together to release their first album, Juvenile Hell on this day, April 13, 1993. Hailing from Queensbridge Housing projects in New York City, Mobb Deep was rather young when they released their first album, at the early age of 19.

At the time of its’ release, Juvenile Hell wasn’t received on groundbreaking levels. The new sound of the duo was too hardcore for some, very street-oriented, and the album provided one major single entitled “Hit it from the Back”; which peaked at 18 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart that same year. It wouldn’t be until later that Mobb Deep would become a Hip Hop classic and household name. In time they have gained longevity with their sound inspiring practically all other east coast rappers of their caliber. Had it not been for their first album, and their street poetry over tracks produced by the likes of DJ Premier and Large Professor, the map would never have been drawn for much of the major East Coast sound.

Ice Spice Confirms That “Y2K” Has Passed “The Car Test”

Ice Spice has been one of hip-hop’s darlings over the last year and a half. Her bubbly personality and catchy tracks continue to win over fans and earn her new ones every day. Ever since her debut EP, Like..?, listeners have been clamoring for the debut album. Y2K is expected to drop sometime this year; however we are still waiting on the release date, cover art, and tracklist. But this latest update from the New York rapper could mean that we are just weeks away from receiving the project. A clip has resurfaced from the Hot Ones episode with Ice Spice where she reveals that her album has passed the “car test.”

During her conversation, she revealed that she had been playing Y2K in the whip, according to AllHipHop. “Yes, I’ve been playing the album fully through in the car, volume all the way up.” This an important part of the creative process, as projects need to be able to be played in multiple settings. To also help feel confident in the work she is putting out, Ice Spice also wants it to be clear that only quality will be released.

RiTchie Delivers His Abstract Debut “Triple Digits [112]”

With the unfortunate passing of Injury Reserve talent Stepa J. Groggs back in 2020, the alternative trio was sadly split up. After some assuredly hard thinking and tough conversations, rapper RiTchie and producer Parker Corey decided to close that chapter of their musical careers in solidarity. That happened back in July of 2023 and the now duo is referred to as By Storm. With this new regime in place, it means new music. RiTchie has been hard at work with that task since last summer, and now we have his debut album Triple Digits [112].

RiTchie gave us our first of the release back in February with “RiTchie Valens.” Then, just about two weeks later, he would collaborate with the equally fun Amine for “Dizzy.” Finally, he would deliver one last look into in the album with the hallucinating and abstract track “Looping.” The latter adjective is exactly how we would describe this entire listening experience.

Listen To Triple Digits [112] By RiTchie

But it is very on brand with RiTchie and everything By Storm is about. That is unorthodox ideas, flows, beats, and all of the above. With all of these different soundscapes you would think a lot of hands would be all over this project. However, the opposite is true, as Triple Digits has a total of nine producers, including RiTchie and Parker, as well as just 10 writers. It might sound all over the place on the surface, but the album comes together seamlessly.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, Triple Digits [112], by RiTchie? What songs are you gravitating toward right now? Who had the strongest guest appearance on the record and why? Do you see him having a successful solo career after this? What is the best song on here? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding RiTchie and By Storm. Finally, stay with us for the most informative project posts throughout the week.

Today In Hip Hop History: Busta Rhymes Dropped His Debut Album ‘The Coming’ 28 Years Ago

busta rhymes

On this date in 1996, Busta Rhymes did the inevitable and released his highly anticipated solo album The Coming on Elektra Records.

Even though the Leaders Of The New School were a celebrated group within the culture, it was always suggested that Busta drop a solo project minus LONS. With production form the likes of Easy Mo Bee, DJ Scratch and even Busta Buss himself, The Coming served as a introductory project of what was to come from the one of the greatest lyricists in the game.Appearance from the likes of the late Notorious B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest(who first introduced Busta on “Scenario”), Heave d and The Boyz and Mary J. Blige.

The 13 track full length studio album was chock full of hits including “Everything Remains Raw”, the Zhane-powered “It’s A Party” and the album’s lead single “Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check”. This album also introduces Busta’s own “Flipmode Squad” consisting of Lord Have Mercy, Rampage, Rah Digga and Spliff Star.

Salute to Busta on his premiere project; definitely an important piece of Hip Hop history!
