Davido Is An Impenetrable Force On The Glorious ‘Stand Strong’ With The Samples

This fall will mark two years since Davido released his sophomore album A Better Time. The project, which was a follow-up to his 2019 debut A Good Time came complete with 17 songs and features from fellow afrobeats artists Mayorkun, Tiwa Savage, Ckay, Sauti Sol, and more, as well as hip-hop R&B acts like Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Nas, and others. With the 2020 project, it was clear that Davido’s mainstream crossover was in full effect and it was something that was proven time and time again after the arrival of A Better Time through stateside collaborations, late-night TV performances, and more.

However, all of that is in the past now as Davido prepares to release his upcoming third album. There isn’t a title for the project yet, but we’ve received the first taste of Davido’s upcoming body of work through his new single “Stand Strong.” It’s a triumphant effort that captures Davido beside The Samples, a choir that adds a glorious touch to the song. The new record is also produced by Nigerian singer-producer Pheelz, who is having a big moment of his own with “Finesse” featuring following Nigerian singer BNXN fka Buju.

Yung Bleu Surprises His Childhood Crush With A Spaceship In His Video For ‘Unforgiving’ With Davido

Yung Bleu is currently on a US tour in support of his debut album, Moon Boy, but it hasn’t stopped him from showing how life is for him overseas. Fresh off a performance in New York, the Alabama native returns with a music video for “Unforgiving” with Davido and it finds both acts in Lagos, Nigeria for the visual. In it, Bleu grows up and falls in love with his childhood friend, and in order to show his appreciation for her, the singer decides to build a spaceship for her from scratch due to their mutual love for space.

Moon Boy arrived at the end of July complete with features from John Legend, HER, Kehlani, Moneybagg Yo, Big Sean, Drake, Jeezy, Gunna, 2 Chainz, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and more. The album’s release has also been supported by videos for “Ghetto Love Birds,” “You’re Still Mine,” “Baddest,” and “Way More Close (Stuck In A Box).”

It’s all been smooth sailing for Bleu since Drake helped boost his popularity by remixing “You’re Still Mine” last summer. The addition of the Toronto rapper to the song helped pushed it into the top 20 of the Billboard singles chart.

BIA’s Claims On Nicki Minaj’s Livestream Prompt Burna Boy To Issue A Correction

Burna Boy is calling “cap” on BIA’s claims from her recent appearance on Nicki Minaj’s live stream to debut the “Whole Lotta Money” remix. During the live stream, Nicki asked BIA about Nigerian hitmakers Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, only for BIA to admit that she doesn’t know what any of them look like. Over the weekend, Burna addressed the comment, tweeting that BIA must have been exaggerating because she’s been in his DMs since 2018.

“That babe wey nor know our face don dey my dms since 2018,” he wrote. However, BIA later responded to a fan’s tweet about the comments that she does know what Wizkid looks like, noting that she doesn’t need to know what any of the three Nigerian stars look like to know and appreciate their music.

Then, when the conversation was picked up by Instagram gossip pages, BIA was sure to reply to at least one, explaining that the “DM” Burna referred to was her tagging his song. “Burna, love your music,” she wrote. “Don’t be hurt I said Ion know what U look like. Your girl is beautiful anyway you shouldn’t care. Now, don’t make it seem like I slid on U in 2018 bc I tagged your song.”

She signed off by once again plugging her Nicki Minaj collaboration: “Now back to what’s important. Stream #WholeLottaMoneyRemix.”

Davido Delivers A Vibrant Medley Of ‘Assurance’ And ‘Jowo’ On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

It was just last week that Davido impressed viewers with a breezy appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk. Now, the afro-fusion star can be found doing the same on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he shared a vibrant medley of two of his songs It began with Davido seated on a gold throne by candles while his band and an array of colorful flowers surrounded him. He only sang the first verse and chorus of “Assurance” before transitioning into “Jowo.”

The latter was one of four tracks Davido performed during his Tiny Desk set. He also played “Gobe,” Aye,” and “Risky,” which were released between 2013 and 2019, making for a good trip through his discography. His Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance also promotes his last two albums, with “Assurance” coming from 2019’s A Good Time and “Jowo” appearing on 2020’s A Better Time. The latter album saw appearances from Nicki Minaj, Tiwa Savage, Lil Baby, Nas, Hit-Boy, Sauti Sol, Mayorkun, and more.

While it may be a while before Davido drops another album, fans will be able to hear him alongside Megan Thee Stallion and Idris Elba on an upcoming song, which the duo revealed during a recent interview on CapitalFM’s The All-New Capital Weekender.
