J Cole Criticized By “The Cosby Show” Actor For His Music’s Use Of The N-Word

J Cole has proven himself to be a very versatile MC when it comes to the different kinds of raps that he lays down. Sometimes, he’s in a deep lyrical mode that blends sociocultural messaging with personal narrative, and other times, he’s talking about chewing sticks like it’s Wrigley’s. Moreover, this push and pull is at the center of The Cosby Show actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s criticism of the current use of the n-word in hip-hop. During the launch of the 53-year-old’s new podcast Not All Hood on Monday (June 10), he spoke on specifically lamenting the use of this kind of language from his favorite lyricists, including the Dreamville boss.

“I think why I’m more against it now is because it’s used so gratuitously,” Warner expressed regarding J. Cole. “It’s used without regard. At this point, for me, in hip-hop, I think there should be a moratorium on ‘n***a’ and ‘b***h.’ It’s low-hanging fruit. It’s so easy. Everybody f***ing does it to the point that it’s corny.” It would be interesting to hear the “Trae The Truth In Ibiza” spitter’s thoughts on this interpretation.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s First Podcast Episode: Watch The J Cole & N-Word Conversation Around The 14-Minute Mark

“There are MCs who I love, who I cannot listen to anymore,” Warner continued on the premiere of his podcast. “I love J. Cole but I had to stop listening to J. Cole because I got tired of hearing ‘n***a’ and ‘b***h’ every two sentences. Because he’s proven himself to be such an incredible lyricist, [so I hate] the regularity that he does [use those words].” While this argument as far as profanity is a long-standing debate, it’s clear that Cole creates this contrast more strongly than folks would assume, and thus, his forays into words like these hit that much harder for detractors. If not for these terms, then some backlash pops up most certainly due to the varying quality of his recent material.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting on whether The Fall Off will release soon, joining a lengthy list of the most anticipated albums of what’s left of 2024. But whether or not it ends up releasing in 2025 or even later is still an unconfirmed and undeniable possibility. Regardless, we’re looking forward to hearing whatever J. Cole does next. Even those who take issue with his lyrical content sometimes can’t deny how special of an artist he is.

Boosie Badazz Thinks Drake’s Neighborhood’s Shooting Could’ve Been Much Worse

While no one has been able to confirm whether or not the recent shooting near Drake’s home in his Toronto neighborhood has anything to do with his beef with Kendrick Lamar, other rappers, or other conflicts in his personal life or multi-faceted career, it certainly wrapped up the K.Dot battle on a scary, extreme, and hopefully outlying note that, fingers crossed, doesn’t escalate into further violence. However, Boosie Badazz thinks the shooting could’ve been worse. During a recent DJ Vlad interview on VladTV, he called out the hypocrisy of rap fans wanting to see beef go hard and demanding fast responses to diss tracks despite real-life situations. The question the Baton Rouge rapper had for these individuals was this: what if Adonis had gotten shot instead of a security guard?

Furthermore, Boosie thinks that folks are too quick to celebrate or minimize the impact of violence when it doesn’t affect the famous people we know or innocent bystanders. This goes not just for rap beef, but violence in general in the music industry, local communities, and other spaces. Also, he suggested that the rampant social media discussion around rap battles can eventually lead to violence escalating, which didn’t happen before because folks had to actually do something horrible before seeing retaliation. The 41-year-old also expressed his belief that neither Drake nor Kendrick Lamar can stop their crews from turning to extremes.

Boosie Badazz Speaks On The Bridle Path Shooting & Drake’s Son

“In my comments, they’re saying ‘Boosie calm down, it’s Drake and Kendrick,’” he told DJ Vlad concerning people’s reactions downplaying the chance for the battle to turn violent. “That’s what most people are telling me. Is that same Drake and Kendrick the same 20 people around you in your entourage? That’s not the same person.”

Elsewhere, Boosie Badazz also has some interesting theories about the Diddy scandal and why it took so long for pop culture to catch up. His takes on the latest happenings in the rap world and in society at large are always notable, sometimes for their humor and other times for their controversy. But the “Wipe Me Down” MC also comes through with some deeper and more humanistic takes on occasion, too. For anyone who thought that the recent Drake shooting was all part of the game, we urge you to reconsider.

Kodak Black’s Baby Mama Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting His Other Baby Mama

Kodak Black’s baby mama drama just got a whole lot more complicated, as authorities reportedly arrested the mother of two of his kids, Maranda Johnson, for allegedly jumping his first baby mother Jammiah “Maya” Broomfield. Specifically, the reported charges are battery, burglary, and grand theft, and follows Johnson threatening Broomfield and Kodak online as well as smashing his car windows. If you recall, this incident occurred because the rapper was with Broomfield and their son the other day. Seems like everyone involved has some issues to sort out. Hopefully they do so soon for the sake of the families, because seeing things go to these lengths can be scary.

Furthermore, this comes amid a pretty interesting time for Kodak Black, who’s not dealing with many legal issues right now and seems in a much better place. As such, we hope that the patience and positive energies are there to handle this combative situation as well as possible. But in addition to this being a more tranquil time for the Florida MC, he’s also got a lot more to develop when it comes to his next career moves and how he will grow throughout the decade. For example, he just put out a new compilation album featuring the next iteration of his Sniper Gang label, and seeing him in a more curation-based role is promising.

Elsewhere, some other Kodak Black-related beef, the one with Boosie Badazz, is one that the Baton Rouge artist wouldn’t necessarily categorize as such. Moreover, Boosie told DJ Vlad during his latest VladTV interview that he doesn’t really see his personal and social media issues with Kodak as “rap beef,” per se. The same goes for his feud with NBA YoungBoy, as he thinks that these spats and situations are pretty casual and aren’t indicative of any real issues. Even though Badazz does have a partial “diss track” for Yak in “Grateful,” he doesn’t see it as such since it’s not all directed at him.

Meanwhile, hopefully all these family issues sort out, because Kodak Black always looks happy and healthy when he’s around his loved ones. Take this with a grain of salt, though, as there isn’t a whole lot of other information out there concerning this supposed arrest. No matter what it leads to, we hope this can set some more ground rules and stipulations to avoid this kind of conflict in the future. Will they work? We’ll see.

50 Cent Shocks The World By Empathizing With Diddy Amid Liquor Company Battle

50 Cent may be Diddy’s biggest troll online, but as a fellow rap and business mogul, he certainly has more sympathy for him than most right now. Of course, when Fif brings Sean Combs up online, it’s usually not in this context of financials and entrepreneurship at all, but rather a reflection on the current wave of lawsuits, accusations, scandals, and condemnations against the Bad Boy executive. But amid the G-Unit boss’ current legal battle with the liquor company Suntory Global Spirits, he reflected on the since-resolved dispute between Puff Daddy and Diageo. Apparently, they both have suffered at the hands of higher-ups, and you’d better savor this moment because this sympathy likely won’t last long.

“Puffy made Diageo a lot of money with ciroc, they were fine with that because he didn’t own anything,” 50 Cent shared in a recent Instagram post that spoke about his visit to Capitol Hill to discuss these issues and his Suntory dispute with Congressional and government figures. “Soon as he owns Deleón their relationship can’t work. I made @suntoryglobalspirits a lot of money with Effen soon as I own my own brands they did me dirty. They want black consumers, but they don’t want black business owners. True story.”

For those unaware, 50 Cent sued Suntory in March of this year for $6 million, alleging embezzlement. “Changing the company name from Beam Suntory to @suntoryglobalspirits without correcting what was done to my brands @bransoncognac and @lecheminduroi doesn’t fix the problem and lacks honor,” he expressed concerning the issue in May. “I attempted to resolve the matter, not once, but twice. Now the legal process will play out publicly for everyone to see what really happened and how @suntoryglobalspirits would rather spend millions to protect and conceal criminal conduct instead of doing the right thing.”

As for Diddy, folks who were quiet or defensive on the matter were quick to turn on him as the world reacted to the Cassie footage, including Kim Porter’s father. We don’t know what the next development in his legal dealings will be, but we know that 50 Cent will be right there to comment on it. However, depending on how his Suntory battle goes, it will be curious to see whether he shares more sympathy or draws more parallels. Talk about the tables turning…

Drake Allegedly Thinks Elliot Wilson Gave Kendrick Lamar Information On Him

During his recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, Elliott Wilson made some very interesting claims concerning his relationship with Drake. Moreover, you ‘re probably up to speed on The Boy’s beef with Kendrick Lamar, whose most recent development was a Drizzy IG post defending his OVO crew. Throughout this whole process, Wilson was there to report on it and give his thoughts, as well as try to stay up to date with what was going to happen in the battle. Apparently, he reached out to the Toronto superstar to ask when he would drop “Family Matters,” which allegedly elicited an ominous response.

Furthermore, according to Elliott Wilson’s claims, Drake sent him a rat emoji in his answer to that question, insinuating that he thinks Wilson gave Kendrick Lamar information about him and his camp. The media personality had denied these claims previously. However, the explanation behind this is still a bit unclear, as Aubrey Graham could’ve been suggesting that Wilson wanted to leak this information to K.Dot instead of insinuating that he already gave him dirt. Considering the journalist’s other qualms with the “Virginia Beach” artist and how he allegedly blacklisted him from Toronto, take this with a grain of salt. But it’s clear that the OVO mogul is very distrusting of the media these days, and of anyone outside of his immediate circle.

Elliott Wilson’s Rat Emoji Claims About Drake & The Kendrick Lamar Beef

Of course, this is all for good reason, as both Drake and Kendrick Lamar probably got a little more than what they bargained for as a result of their beef. But in Elliott Wilson’s mind, there’s a clear winner despite both MCs being worthy of strong praise for their efforts. After all, he ranked “Not Like Us” as the third best diss track of all time recently, higher than any other song released as a result of their beef. Whether it’s bias or facts in your opinion, there’s definitely a debate there.

Meanwhile, we wonder if the alleged rift between Drake and Elliott Wilson will ever patch up. If these new allegations are true, then we know that Kendrick Lamar probably won’t be the one to cause a proverbial burial of the hatchet. Also, this poses some interesting questions for how rappers generally handle and navigate their media relationships. Rap beef is a very competitive affair, and one in which people can pick sides and indulge in paranoid fantasies without even realizing it.

Megan Thee Stallion Breaks Her Silence After AI-Faked Sex Tape Allegedly Surfaces Online

Megan Thee Stallion is facing a whirlwind of fame right now, trying her best to balance wild success and acclaim with disparaging or unfortunate circumstances. Some are beyond most folks’ control, such as a rescheduled Dallas show due to the NBA Finals. But others are much more sinister in nature, such as an alleged sex tape of hers that surfaced online but is reported to be A.I-.generated, according to social media discussion. Despite the content at hand and blazingly unverified Internet discussion, the Houston femcee took to Twitter on Saturday (June 8) to blast these supposed attempts to ruin her image.

“It’s really sick how yall go out of the way to hurt me when you see me winning,” Megan Thee Stallion wrote to a mystery opp on the social media platform. “Yall going too far, Fake a** s**t. Just know today was your last day playing with me and I mean it.” Moreover, she just joined Latto and Flo Milli for the remix of “Sunday Service,” so at least she has some praise and earned commotion to counter this other side of online conversation.

Elsewhere, though, Megan Thee Stallion will likely address at least some of this reception, other struggles, and all her highs and lows on her upcoming album, Megan. It’s easily one of the summer’s most anticipated hip-hop releases, and will be her first solo full-length effort since 2022’s Traumanize. A lot happened in Tina Snow’s life since then, and we’re sure that it will make for a pretty engaging and well-rounded album experience. All we can hope for is that her efforts ring louder than those of her overzealous, disrespectful, or downright toxic detractors.

In fact, Megan Thee Stallion has a big rollout to contend with, and one that’s boosting morale amid some other canceled or postponed shows. It’s a lot of momentum and hype, and one that has a big risk of falling apart if the album doesn’t deliver. But our skepticism is more directed public opinion and discourse, not so much Meg’s talents or potential. Hopefully she claps back at folks who dislike her for all the wrong reasons through some amazing art.

Ally Lotti Allegedly Selling Another Juice WRLD Sex Tape, Fans Are Outraged

Ally Lotti is once again facing the wrath of the Juice WRLD fanbase for allegedly selling a sex tape online featuring her and her late rapper boo. Of course, since the sources for this information mostly come from social media screenshots without checking Lotti’s page, take it with a grain of salt, but understand that this headline should seem familiar to you. There have been plenty of previous cases of the Chicago artist’s audience speaking on not just how his former partner has used and engaged with his legacy, but on how everyone close to his life has squandered his posthumous recognition.

For example, Ally Lotti previously caught flack earlier this year for allegedly selling some of Juice WRLD’s dreads and bodily fluids. You can imagine how disgusted some fans were, not just physically in terms of how gross it sounds but in terms of how she could make massive profits off of his items through exploiting fan obsession rather than preserving these belongings. However, some might argue that it’s more intimate and connected for fans to be so “close” to an artist rather than look at them through museum glass. But it’s clear that Juice’s likeness and career hasn’t really been respected and preserved as much as it probably should.

Ally Lotti Under Fire Again For Another Alleged Juice WRLD Sex Tape Controversy

Apart from the Ally Lotti controversies, Juice WRLD’s team allegedly fumbled a Kid Cudi collaboration according to Mr. Rager, and there have been much more controversial questions about how management and loved ones released posthumous material in bulk. It’s sad to see disputes like this happen, but it’s small in the face of his impact. The “Burn” creative continues to resonate with young and old audiences alike, and he remains a beloved innovator from the 2010s and beyond. In fact, we might not fully understand the breadth of his influence yet.

Meanwhile, there are other ways in which Juice WRLD’s legacy manifested in heartening and positive ways for not just his family and loved ones, but for the wider fanbase. For one, his mother launched a crisis text line centered around mental health issues to provide prompt, empathetic, and professional assistance amid emergencies. Juice is one of many artists who sadly represents the importance of these mental health conversations. But more importantly, he’s a beacon of hope for folks to see brighter days and overcome their hardships.
RIP Juice WRLD.

Sean Kingston Breaks His Silence After Being Released On Bond

Sean Kingston is officially out on a $100,000 bond following his arrest in California and extradition to Florida on fraud charges following a raid on his home in the latter state. Moreover, people expressed shock when news of this case broke, and since then, folks anticipated what would come of this process, Now that he’s a free man awaiting trial for these accusations, he took to social media, specifically Instagram, on Wednesday (June 5) to speak on this development. However, rather than address the allegations, Kingston thanked many from his inner circle for their support and resilience during this time.

It’s great to be home!” Sean Kingston expressed on the social media platform, listing out all the groups and people that held him down during this turbulence. “A special thanks to God, my family, my friends and my legal team… Robert Rosenblatt, James Stark, Mark Geragos, Zeljka Bozanic, Pierre Pollas. And I cannot forget about my amazing fans, thank you for all your love and support! I love you guys!” His mother, Janice Turner, also caught some charges, so we’ll see what this dynamic looks like in the near future.

Elsewhere, Sean Kingston was actually able to sustain some career hype despite these roadblocks, and did so with another legally compromised artist. He and NBA YoungBoy released their collab “Why Oh Why,” and it’s curious that this is the art out of this career that we got amid all this trouble. The situation is still relatively unclear, as there are only allegations when it comes to how Kingston and Turner supposedly netted over $1 million through scam practices. But with new music to boot, it feels like this is a cultural reset moment in which he seeks to reclaim the narrative and stand tall.

Meanwhile, the ten charges that Sean Kingston faces also involve bank fraud, scamming a jeweler, and more alleged fraud-related crimes. Whether or not a court of law upholds this idea or rejects it is a mystery, one that might see resolution by the end of 2024. But we also know that these legal processes can be long and tricky, so who knows what happens? At least he’s back communicating with his fans and keeping his head held high until we presumably learn the truth.

Benzino Questions Coi Leray Disowning Him Over R. Kelly Comments, Scrutinizes Her Loss Of Virginity

Benzino still feels a type of way after his daughter Coi Leray expressed disappointment in him over his defense of R. Kelly, effectively disowning him and their familial bond. Moreover, he recently appeared on the Famous & Wealthy podcast and spoke about her reaction to his take on the disgraced R&B singer. Speficially, the Source co-founder brought up an interview that Coi did with Math Hoffa on his My Expert Opinion podcast some time ago, in which she revealed that she lost her virginity at the age of 14. This rubs her father the wrong way given her outright condemnation of his R. Kelly comments and wants her to expand upon this.

“She made a comment about the R. Kelly situation and said that she doesn’t want to have anything to do with me,” Benzino’s thoughts began. “Because of the R. Kelly thing. And I’m saying -– but then, right? Four months ago, she’s on the Math Hoffa show. And Math Hoffa -– which I thought, you know, was a kind of crazy question. But hey… Like she said, she’s grown, you know what I’m saying? She’s of age, I don’t think they’re grown sometimes. But anyways, alright, alright. But he asked her, ‘Hey, when did you lose your virginity?’ She said at 14.

Benzino Speaks On Coi Leray Disowning Him Over R. Kelly Comments

“Now first, right, I didn’t know, you know what I’m saying?” Benzino continued. “Right, so I’m like… So here you are condemning me for saying what I’m saying, which is a grown folks’ conversation. Which I never mentioned you. Which, really, you shouldn’t have even really involved yourself because this was a conversation that I’m having. But since you did involve yourself, which is what you do, alright? How can you say that when you just said that you lost your virginity at 14? So is the guy that you lost your virginity at 14 [to], is he a pedophile?

At this point, it’s very unclear whether Benzino and Coi Leray will ever truly make up and avoid conflicts like this in the future. They have always been at odds, but also found common ground to forgive each other over and move forward. With this in mind, arguably the most serious situation and clash the two have had so far, the future looks a bit more bleak. But there’s always a chance for folks to grow as long as they accept accountability and due consequence for their mistakes.

Bandman Kevo Draws Fan Backlash For His Latest Billionaire-Inspired Tattoos

Bandman Kevo previously drew the Internet’s attention for his leg tattoos of various controversial celebrities, but these new ones take the cake. Moreover, they were so bizarre that fans mostly ignored one of an arm seemingly choking a girl, which is saying something if that’s the overlooked part of it. Specifically, he got tattoos of various billionaires’ faces, namely of Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Mark Cuban, and Jeff Bezos. A lot of folks in the replies threads of the Twitter post down below questioned why the rapper would want a bunch of rich white guys plastered on one of his legs, along with some other criticisms and wild reactions.

Furthermore, Bandman Kevo is unfortunately dealing with a lot in his life right now apart from the social media antics that folks are reacting to. Back in April of this year, he revealed that his 15-year-old son Kevian was shot and killed in Michigan, a tragedy that no father or son should have to grapple with. This took many fans by surprise, who quickly outpoured their support and condolences online. Since then, the Chicago MC has continued to keep his career going and honor Kevian’s memory, and we send him our best wishes on his path of grief.

Bandman Kevo’s New Tattoos: See Replies For Reactions

This comes as a heavy contrast to a lot of Bandman Kevo’s other behaviors and headlines in recent years, including some rap beef. Last year, he got into it with Jackboy, as they both accused each other of getting plastic surgery procedures in both trolling and serious manners. As for Kevo, he’s been quite open with his experiences with this matter, so the jabs didn’t seem to affect him as much. It was a bit of a wild back-and-forth, and one that is not as rare in the current rap world as you might think.

Meanwhile, Bandman Kevo also took aim at Gunna last year, piling snitching accusations on top of his claim that Wunna scammed him over a collab. That situation never really cleared up, so it remains in the rumor mill as of writing this article. Maybe Kevo will get some more tattoos of famous figures in the near future, whether it’s within hip-hop or outside of it. All we can hope for in terms of the reception is that he chooses his tributes a little more wisely.
