Diddy’s Sons King Combs & Quincy Brown Tease New Music Amid His Legal Issues

Things haven’t looked good for Diddy over the past few months, but evidently, his children aren’t letting that get them down. Last week, footage of the Bad Boy Records founder physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in 2016 surfaced online, sparking outrage among social media users and peers. He’s since apologized for his behavior, though it didn’t do much to mitigate the damage already done to his reputation. Aside from that, Diddy’s long list of lawsuits also grew this week, with a model suing the mogul for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2003.

Amid all of this, Diddy’s family has kept a fairly low profile, though two of his sons hopped online yesterday to preview a new project they have on the way. The collaboration is between Diddy’s biological son Christian “King” Combs, and his stepson Quincy Brown. At the time of writing, it does not yet have an official title or release date.

King & Quincy Preview Upcoming Collab Days After Diddy Assault Footage Goes Viral

In a short snippet from the upcoming collab, King raps over a laid-back beat while Quincy comes through with some suave vocals. Unfortunately, the preview isn’t going over so well on social media, with various users criticizing the duo for the song and their questionable timing. “Read the ROOM,” one Instagram user writes in The Shade Room‘s comments section. “It’s going aluminum foil,” another jokes.

This isn’t King’s first time receiving backlash for one of his songs, however. Earlier this month, he unleashed a diss track called “Pick A Side” on 50 Cent, which many thought left a lot to be desired. What do you think of Diddy’s sons teasing a new collab amid their father’s ongoing legal issues? Do you think this is bad timing on their part? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Joel Q & Brittney Carter Pay Homage To “Nosetalgia” On “Top 5”

The general consensus once Drake and Kendrick Lamar began trading bars was that lyricism is alive and well. However, that’s always been the case. Chicago’s own Joel Q has been one of the many proponents keeping lyricism intact and clearly, it’s been working out for him. After releasing a series of projects over the past few years, including Trophy Room II and Love, My N***a 2, he’s kept his foot on the gas with plenty of bangers since the top of 2024.

While Joel Q often focuses on uplifting his community and spreading positivity, the moments where he pulls up to pop his sh*t showcase just how potent his pen is. This week, the rapper teamed up with close collaborator Brittney Carter (who delivered an excellent verse during her On The Radar freestyle last year) for their latest collab, “Top 5.” The two MCs bring the heat as they make a strong case as to why they’re some of the best to step to the mic. Joel Q kicks things off with a fiery verse, filled with clever punchlines like “Catch your girl look at me like Woo, had me feelin’ like I’m Pop Smoke.”

Joel Q & Brittney Carter Make A Strong Case Why They’re “Top 5”

Following a spree of bars, Joel Q hands the mic over to Brittney Carter who delivers a memorable closer. Carter comes through swinging, with bars that are equally inspiring while simultaneously sonning her competitors through a mildly melodic flow. “I think my purpose on these tracks is show you lil’ n***as you can,” she raps with vigor. The two have previously worked together on songs like “Head High” but “Top 5” is truly a testament to the type of talent coming out of Chicago right now.

The music video for the new collaboration also pays homage to Pusha T and Kendrick Lamar’s classic “Nosetalgia.” With a minimalistic black-and-white video, Joel and Brittney Carter step through the streets of Chicago as they deliver their verses. Hopefully, we get more of this from the two coming soon. Joel Q already announced that he has a new project on the way so it seems like this is setting the tone for what he has in store this year.

Common Slices & Dices A Killer Boom-Bap Beat From Pete Rock On “Wise Up”

“Y’all gon’ think I’m just talking. But this new Pete Rock joint. I’ma see y’all when I come back, whenever I’m back, and y’all can tell me if I’m bulls***tin’ or not. “It’s in my top. I’ve had a couple people coming in saying, ‘Yo, this is one of your best albums.’ So, I’m excited about it.” Those were the words of Common at a MusiCares panel in Santa Monica on April 22 when divulging on an upcoming project with acclaimed producer Pete Rock.

Outside of that we do not have a ton of information on the record just yet. However, what we can reveal is that Common and Pete are titling this project The Auditorium and that the lead single is here! Just moments ago, the 90’s icons released “Wise Up” with a beautifully shot music video. If the chorus sample sounds familiar to any hip-hop heads out there, it is because Pete flipped MC Shan’s “The Bridge.”

It is a masterfully produced single and it shows that Pete Rock has still got it. Additionally, Common delivers a hungry and philosophical performance. “His is on the streets, mines is over instrumentals
The Lord sent my mental to be more than sentimental / The ventricles that I vent through are temples of what I been through
. ” If this project drops this year, we are in for a real treat.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Wise Up” by Common and Pete Rock? Does this get you excited for their rumored upcoming album The Auditorium? Da Beatminerz Recruit Loads Of Guests, Including De La Soul, For Album Single “My Year”

What happens when you combine talented producers and rappers together on one record? You are going to a terrific track that you are going to want to spin over and over again. That is exactly the case with this new Da Beatminerz single “My Year” with a feature from De La Soul. However, the latter are not the only spitters on this boom-bap cut. “My Year” also includes the talents from Pharoahe Monche, Rasheed Chappell, and Corey Glover.

For those who are not familiar, Da Beatminerz are a hip-hop production collective from Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York. They have developed into one of the longest standing groups in the genre’s history. To be more specific, they have been doing the business for over 30 years. “My Year” is the second promotional track for what will be their first album in two decades.

It is titled Stifled Creativity and it will be out on June 21. Fun fact: it will be out the day before the 20-year anniversary of that last record, Fully Loaded w/ Statik. One half of the production duo, Mr. Walt, detailed the process of getting this song out to the masses. “My Year” was one of the first songs we worked on when we started the album and the order you hear them in is the order we made. It took a minute to get Dave’s vocals because of his health. When we got them, We were so grateful and appreciative. He didn’t have to do the song, but he came through & that the world to me, he explains. “I met Rasheed through Kenny Dope. When I heard him, I automatically wanted to work with him, so when we put the blueprint together for the song, I knew he would fit perfectly.” We could not agree with Mr. Walt, the track is incredible.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “My Year” by De La Soul, Da Beatminerz, Pharoahe Monch, Rasheed Chappell, and Corey Glover? Is this the strongest single from Stifled Creativity, why or why not? Who had the best rapping performance? Will this be one of the better albums of the year, why or why not? Summer Walker Praised For Stunning Feature On Childish Gambino’s “Sweetest Thang”

Earlier this week, the ever-so-talented Childish Gambino sort of surprised everyone earlier this week by releasing Atavista. We say sort of because most artists do not drop big projects on Mondays, but this effort was known to be coming soon. The California native describes this as his updated version of the 2020 project 3.15.20. Ultimately, the mixing was improved, tracks were added and subtracted, and new guests were brought into the fray. One of those fresh faces included Atlanta R&B songstress Summer Walker.

Her vocal talents were added to the seven-minute ballad about Gambino not understanding why his partner continue to loves him. Conversely, Summer reaffirms her affection on the outro in which they harmonize. “I just wanna say thank you / ‘Cause I love you, mm, mm (Love you),” she repeats. It is easily one of the most, if not the most stunning track on the album and fans are taking notice online.

The Neighborhood Talk gathered some tweets and everyone agrees that Summer has a gorgeous voice. “Oh he really put summer walker on sweetest thang.. it’s beautiful😫,” one user writes. “Summer Walker on here is EVERYTHING,” another adds. The song has some breathtaking church organ sections woven into the instrumental and when she pops in, it takes it to another level. She was definitely a natural fit, as Summer has shown interest in gospel music throughout her career. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she mentioned what she keeps in rotation from the genre. “”I have a very, very, very large playlist and I do not know the names of anything. I just listen to it… It’s like a bunch of gospel.”

What are your thoughts on the praise that Summer Walker is getting for her feature on Childish Gambino’s “Sweetest Thang” off Atavista? Is this one of her strongest guest performances of her career, why or why not? Is this the best song from Gambino’s new album? Did she have the best feature on the record? Loe Shimmy & Wizz Havinn Rep Florida ON “Zuper”

With the Florida rap scene being ran by acts like Kodak Black, Denzel Curry, and the late great XXXTENTACION, some of the new kids in the block want a turn. Loe Shimmy and Wizz Havinn are two of those names looking to make an impact with songs like “Zuper.” This one of a handful of collaborations from these East Coast natives and it is their second already this year. Their last effort was “4AM at Coffee Zone” with features from other FL rising stars Luh Tyler, BossMan Dlow, and C Stunna.

Individually speaking, each rapper has been active this year. Loe Shimmy is coming off two singles, “Miami” and “Dirty Soda Junkie” with Veeze, as well as a new album Zombieland 2. In the case of the Tallahassee resident, Wizz Havinn has dropped off several songs as well, with a couple of them getting remixed with DJ Ess. On “Zuper,” Loe and Wizz are making sure to put on for their hometown with their cadences and instrumental choice.

Listen To “Zuper” By Loe Shimmy & Wizz Havinn

Loe is known for his extremely nonchalant and sleepy delivery, whereas Wizz raps with slightly more energy and fervor. The beat sounds like something that Luh Tyler would spit over, as it is very minimal and lowkey. Additionally, both Loe and Wizz rap about their hard-earned success with ease and confidence. Their new track can be spun with the link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Zuper” by Loe Shimmy and Wizz Havinn? Is this one of their stronger releases as of late for both rappers, why or why not? Do you think either one has a new album in the works after dropping this? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Bobby Shmurda Works With Newcomer Eli For R&B Cut “On Something”

There were so many people on the Bobby Shmurda hype train back in the mid 2010s. A great deal of hip-hop fans were infatuated with arguably his two best tracks “Hot N****” and “Bobby B****.” However, all of that excitement for the Miami, Florida native went out the window in a hurry after his infamous prison sentence. He was handcuffed for weapons and conspiracy charges for the longest seven years and his return was a bright spot for the genre in 2021. Since being reinstated into society, the 29-year-old rapper has released two full-length projects and a bevy of singles. However, he has not been able to recapture that magic for about 10 years now.

It is clear that Bobby Shmurda is still struggling with songs like “On Something” coming down the pipeline. This is his fifth feature of the year, as he joins a new face to the R&B space, who goes by Eli. In fact, this is the latter’s first-ever release on streaming platforms. It is evident as well because this is perhaps one of the most forgettable songs we have heard all year.

Listen To “On Something” By Bobby Shmurda & Eli

Eli has a painfully boring and generic auto-tuned singing voice that sounds outdated. It is especially unbearable when he goes into his upper register. As for Bobby, his flow is equally boring and sleepy. Unfortunately, there are just no redeeming qualities to this track.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “On Something” by Eli and Bobby Shmurda? Is this one of his stronger features as of late, why or why not? Do you think Eli has what it takes to make it in music? Would you want to hear them collaborate again in the future? Childish Gambino Officially Releases A Fan-Favorite With “Human Sacrifice”

Childish Gambino is the hot topic today, as fans are rejoicing now that Atavista is finally here. He uncharacteristically dropped the tweaked version of 3.15.20 on a Monday. But we sure as heck are not going to complain about getting this before New Music Friday. The California native dropped the original rendition back in March of 2020, but it turns out it was just a placeholder for this project in front of us. Even though this just hit streaming, we have been thoroughly enjoying the efforts of Childish Gambino on “Human Sacrifice.”

For many loyal fans of his, this has been a long time coming. “Human Sacrifice,” according to Genius, was first performed all the way back in 2018. It was played at the start of the This Is America Tour, which kicked off in Duluth, Georgia. The next time listeners heard a glimpse of the sought after record would be in 2019 during an advertisement to promote the Google Pixel phone. However, people were disappointed and quite hopeless that the song would get a release after not making it on 3.15.20.

But it is now officially out six years later, and the reception has been positive. We can see why this song was beloved right from the jump, as the tropical-like drums and melody are ear-grabbing. The writing is simple, but this song is more about the vocals and the atmosphere it creates. Gambino brings a passionate performance across the progressive instrumental, as he sings about the indescribable feelings of loneliness and receiving love.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Human Sacrifice” by Childish Gambino? Is this the best track from his new album Atavista, why or why not? Where do you rank this project amongst the rest of his catalog? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Black Eyed Peas Team Up With El Alfa & Becky G For “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die” Track “TONIGHT”

In just under a month, icons Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be hitting the big screen as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett once again. The buddy cop film franchise, Bad Boys, will be getting its fourth installment, Ride or Die, in theaters on June 7. Its original motion picture debuted back on April 7, 1995 and one of the actors’ defining roles. While we most likely will not review the film, we are hear to break down a new exclusive track for it called “TONIGHT.”

This is a collaboration between pop/Latin pop legends. Black Eyed Peas, El Alfa, and Becky G were all in the studio to give the movie some extra oomph. However, fans, at least musically speaking, are going to be quite disappointed in this track. “TONIGHT” is one of the most painfully boring records that we have heard this year.

Listen To “TONIGHT” By Black Eyed Peas, El Alfa, & Becky G

Making music for a film is never easy. We say that because the artists have to pull back a bit when it comes to getting creative for the sake that it matches a scene or tone. Which is why a good number of listeners loathe soundtracks. “TONIGHT” will presumably do what it is was set out for, but looking at it from a critical standpoint, it is wallpaper at best.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “TONIGHT” by Black Eyed Peas, El Alfa, and Becky G? Does this track build any anticipation for the forthcoming soundtrack? Additionally, does it hype up the Bad Boys: Ride or Die film, why or why not? Who had the strongest performance? Chief Keef, Ballout, & G Herbo Might Have The Hardest Track Of 2024 With “Neph Nem”

Chief Keef might be the most reliable artist when it comes to crafting elite, truck-knocking bangers. Sure, it is hard to count on him to drop when he says, but when he does, there are not many better than him. His eagerly-awaited mixtape Almighty So 2 is chock-full of said slappers and it is safe to say we will have this LP on repeat all week long and beyond. One track we have been revisiting over the last 24 hours and change has been “Neph Nem” with fellow Chicago vets, Ballout and G Herbo.

The second record on the tape is equal parts anthemic, grand, and stank-face inducing. The instrumental may be the most hard-hitting on the project, which is saying a lot considering how many stand out beats there are. Like most of the latter, Chief Keef handles this one by himself and it is excellently put together. From the orchestral background vocals to the bells and rapid fire 808s, it sounds like a lot going on. But no element overpowers the other.

As for the performances, everyone pitches in aggressive flows, and Sosa might provide the most hilarious bars on the record. “She told him she ain’t hop on my d**k (Woo), she fell on it (Woo) / Had to leave by eleven, this b**** act like 12, homie (Woo, woo).” All in all, this project and this track are so enjoyable. It might be up for one of the best trap/drill albums over the last few years.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Neph Nem” by Chief Keef? Is this the best track from his new mixtape Almighty So 2, why or why not? Who had the stronger performance on this cut?
