Lil Uzi Seemingly Hints At Playboi Carti Collab: “About 2 Take Over The World”

Two of hip-hop’s most beloved figures (and duos) of the past few years might be making a comeback soon. Moreover, Lil Uzi Vert just posted an Instagram story suggesting that they and Playboi Carti will work together again soon. “Me and my luv about to take over the world,” they wrote on IG, tagging Carti in the post. Furthermore, they also tagged themselves, with each tag corresponding to one of two kids pictured in the post. Between them stands a tall figure with what looks like a goat head, and Uzi included an upside-down cross emoji. Even though they already pushed back against accusations of satanism, that certainly doesn’t make their case any easier to make.

Still, this got fans incredibly excited, especially after the “Just Wanna Rock” star had some loving words for their “Shoota” collaborator during their Rolling Loud L.A. set. Well, they weren’t words, but rather lyrics to an unreleased Uzi song, presumably from the upcoming Pink Tape. “Shout out to Carti,” they rap in the short but electrifying snippet, at least based off the crowd’s reaction. “We don’t talk hardly, but that’s where my heart be.”

Lil Uzi Vert Hints At Playboi Carti Collab On IG

In fact, Carti had a noteworthy Rolling Loud L.A. set of his own, during which he also teased unreleased music. Furthermore, his set began with a track (fans call it “Rockstar”) that could’ve fit snugly on Whole Lotta Red: aggressive, buzzy, and screamed like there’s no tomorrow. As one of the most noteworthy performers of the moment, it seems like every Carti show becomes most people’s highlight at a festival. However, public favor when it comes to Carti is skewed at the moment, given recent revelations concerning his alleged abuse of his girlfriend. As such, his legacy is now an even more complicated one, and his lack of social media presence makes it hard for fans to get assurance that he regrets, didn’t commit, or retroactively condemns his actions.

Meanwhile, Carti did speak on a potential Uzi collab in a XXL interview last year, and even used similar language to Uzi’s IG post. “Uzi is working on mad music right now,” the “Stop Breathing” rapper remarked. “I don’t know if [they’re] serious about a lot of things. But I hope one day we can change the world with that, for sure.” On the other hand, the Philly icon gave an update on The Pink Tape recently to TMZ, saying that sobriety helped them make about 700 songs for the project. With those promises in mind, time will tell if they manifest and if external issues impact their relationship. For when that day comes, stick around on HNHH for the latest on Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti.

Lil Nas X Performs “Down Souf Hoes” Feat. Saucy Santana At Lollapalooza Ahead Of Song’s Debut

Lil Nas X is trending once again, as he hits the stage at Lollapalooza. The outspoken artist is known for putting on high-energy and jaw-dropping shows. Additionally, many are aware of his racy and sometimes controversial approach to his career. Since 2019, Nas has been steadily climbing the ladder of success, constantly bringing something new and interesting to the table during his performances. His set at this weekend’s festival was no different. Currently, fans are going crazy with excitement after he sang an unreleased song featuring Saucy Santana.

Titled “Down Souf Hoes,” the infectious tune brings everything you would expect from this duo. The song is not technically a new one, as Lil Nas X and Santana performed it together in late 2022. Unfortunately, it has yet to become publicly available on any streaming service. After his latest performance, however, listeners are now demanding an actual release of the joint effort ASAP. Their demands may be met this summer, as the Atlanta native has plans to release a new project that will include his work with his contemporary.

Lil Nas X Twerks to “Down Souf Hoes”

Santana, best known for his TikTok favourite, “Material Girl,” first started as a makeup artist for the City Girls, JT and Yung Miami. The same year that Lil Nas X started to blow up, the Connecticut native began his rapping career. His first hit was “Walk ‘Em Like a Dog,” and he has carved out a lane for himself in the industry as an openly LGBT artist. Not many people were surprised when Santana linked up with Nas to create music. Both creatives have a similar style, as well as a shared love for makeup and fashion.

While Lil Nas X hopes to be dropping his new album in the summer, no official release date has been confirmed. However, most people are expecting his sophomore effort (along with the long-awaited “Down Souf Hoes”) to drop during Pride season. Seeing as the MONTERO hitmaker has always been very open about his sexuality in his music, it would make sense for him to wait until June. Check back later for any updates on a potential release date.

Lil Pump Enlists NBA Youngboy To Make his Comeback Official On “I Don’t Mind”

Lil Pump promised to make a strong comeback in the past few months. Somewhere in between the success of “Gucci Gang” and his cringey collab with Ye, his social media antics became monotonous. Ultimately, his hottest moment in the past few years was during the election, when former President Donald Trump referred to him as “Lil Pimp” and allowed him to speak at his campaign rally. He didn’t utilize the moment to gain supporters out of the right, though it seems like he’s now gearing up to return to the rap game.

After a whole makeover that included losing his lean gut and getting a new set of teeth, he began to embark in a new era of his professional career. The sequel to his self-titled debut is expected to drop later this week, which will include some big features. However, it feels like it could be a make-or-break moment that may or may not lead him to performing in front of similar sized crowds as his buddy, Smokepurpp.

Lil Pump Switches Up On “I Don’t Mind” ft. NBA Youngboy

Lil Pump is apparently exploring beyond the distorted bass of Soundcloud rap for a more melodic effort. This week, he returned with his latest single, “I Don’t Mind” ft. NBA Youngboy. Surprisingly, he brings out a more melodic effort that delves into a more vulnerable side. Pump shares his experiences of heartbreak and desire to be left alone. It’s truly a surprising 180 from what people expect from Pump. It’ll be interesting if Lil Pump 2 entirely consists of a sound similar to this.

NBA Youngboy evidently relates to the topic as he meshes perfectly within Pump’s new found. His muffled hums and passionate croons take center stage over Thank You Fizzle’s velvety production. YB will be among the group of collaborators that will appear on Lil Pump 2, alongside Ty Dolla $ign, Rio Da Yung OG, Smokepurpp, and G4 Boyz. Check out his new song above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.

Quotable Lyrics
I was spending money, chasing you ‘fore you just started to do anything
Go to war one more time behind your love, empty it all, I can never change
But I can’t be dumb forever, I done moved on, took it up to another level
Got no problem with being alone, I’ve been staying strong, getting money the best way

Rick Ross Joins Playboy Rated-R On Velvety “Same Number”

Rated-R Playboy keeping the ball rolling with a new record alongside the Boss, Rick Ross. Playboy, who most might remember as Rob Hicks, underwent a rebrand during the pandemic. However, that hasn’t changed the quality of music. Rated-R Playboy continues to showcase his versatility with each release. Over the past few months, he’s unveiled a handful of records that have us excited for his next body of work.

Since late October, he’s shared some impressive records like “You So Nasty, I Miss You” with Lexx Stokes. The two delivered a sultry record that paired Lexx’s luscious vocals while Rated-R Playboy showcased his versatile flows and intricate rhyme patterns. Then, he followed up with the BAHA BANK$-assisted “BBL,” which infused the essence of Miami bounce as she came through with an ASMR flow. However, he’s back with his first release of the year alongside Ricky Rozay.

Rated-R Playboy Taps Rick Ross For “Same Number”

On Friday, Rated-R Playboy returned with one of his best releases in recent times with “Same Number” ft. Rick Ross. The smooth, jazzy production fuses Memphis sounds with the haziness of the blog era sound. However, it’s the braggadocious bars that fully showcase Playboy’s wordplay and versatility. He finds different pockets throughout his verse while his bars showcase his resilience in the face of adversity.

As the beat flips to a more trap-centric, upbeat banger, Rick Ross emerges with an unmatched presence. As you could expect, Rick Ross delivers nothing but opulence, as he declares at the beginning of his verse, “Hunnid packs on the watch.” Rozay doesn’t hold back, either, though his verse does sound like it was recorded over a decade ago with bars like, “Bricks selling like ringtones.” Still, it’s effective in bringing that feel of Ross’ early records that catered to the hungry corner hustlers looking to come up as corporate CEOs. By the time Ross verse comes in, it’s evident that Rated-R Playboy ensured that he stood his own alongside one of the most descriptive rappers of our time. Check out their collab above.

Quotable Lyrics
Get your hands in the sky, put ’em on the wall
I’m the n***a with the gun, follow protocol
Seen a snake in the grass, had to mow the lawn
Three holes in his head like a bowling ball

GloRilla & Lil Durk Tear Up The Club On “Ex’s (PHATNALL Remix)”

GloRilla and Lil Durk might be the duo that we never know we needed. Though they’ve yet to properly collaborate with each other, they both appeared on Don Toliver’s “Leave The Club,”  though on two separate beats. However, the two returned this week with the release of their latest record, “Ex’s.” Glo initially teased the record on Tuesday on social media where she previewed Durk’s verse, leaving fans in a state of anticipation for the muddy banger.

Finally, the song arrives in its entirety as GloRilla unveiled the official bonus edition of Anyways, Life’s Great. GloRilla and Lil Durk slide over Kokurcho’s piano-laden production that strikes with the bounce of Memphis and the vicious intensity of Chicago’s drill sound. The two rappers connect to address their ex’s on the record. Glo delivers animated bars as she dismisses her ex (“Tell him throw the neck back for this p**sy, boy, it’s Fentanyl) with a gritty, sprightly flow. However, it’s Lil Durk’s verse that already had people talking.

Lil Durk Says He Went Through India Royale’s Phone On GloRilla Song

Since it is a song about their exes, it only made sense that Durk would hop on the record to address his woes with India Royale. It couldn’t come at a better time since the Chicago rapper’s made it his mission to try and win her back publicly. Durk comes through with a lengthy verse where he dives into his trouble with women but more specifically, his trust issues in relationships. “This the first person I cared about, I’m going through phones here,” he raps on the song. It didn’t take long for fans to suspect that he was discussing his break-up with India Royale.

Though this marks their first collaboration together, GloRilla and Lil Durk have flawless chemistry on this record. While Durk himself is working on his follow-up to 7220, perhaps we’ll hear more from them in the near future. Glo found an excellent record that brings out some of the best in Durk and simultaneously proves that she crafts hit records with little effort. Check out their new collab below and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics
We ain’t no Wi-Fi, but Elon Musk, I got you verified
I’m the type of n***a spit on her casket at her repass
Might go mini Drac’, come from the closet, look like Wee Man
Trench bitches, they don’t care ’bout lashes they want ski masks

Meek Mill & Rick Ross Link Up For New Collaboration

Meek Mill and Rick Ross shared a video from the studio on social media, teasing a new collaboration between the two. Ross noted that the new music is releasing “very soon” on Instagram. He also posted a series of photos of the two working together with the caption, “Dreams & Nightmares.” They previously reunited on the 10th anniversary of Meek’s debut album Dreams & Nightmares for a concert at the Wells Fargo Center in November.

The video was reshared by The Hip-Hop Wolf Instagram page, where it was met with mixed reactions from fans. “Idk man. Is it just me. Or Meeks style fizzled out? Did he miss his window with all the nonsense?” one user commented. Another wrote: “You just went to Ghana did it big!! Let’s talk about it in the raps!! The street stuff is cool but we need another angle on this album! Let’s see the growth! Lot of our rappers not maturing with the rap and think that’s part of the problem in the industry. Sound wise.”

The new collaboration comes after there were rumors of a beef between Meek and Ross in 2021. Meek had voiced complaints regarding his label, but Ross explained that his problem was with Atlantic Records, not MMG. Ross addressed the speculation during an interview with Billboard later that year.

“I feel like we’re both hustlers,” he said at the time. “That’s one thing about life — you either grow together or grow apart. As a boss, you make that decision because whatever it is you want to do, Ricky Rozay wants to see you do it. There’s a lot of people that didn’t last or was still down with me the way Meek is, so I want to see the homie shine regardless.” Check out Rick Ross’ recent posts featuring Meek Mill below.

Thundercat Says Kendrick Lamar’s “These Walls” Was His Favorite Studio Session

Thundercat says that the best studio session he participated in was for Kendrick Lamar’s “These Walls.” Thundercat recalled working on the To Pimp A Butterfly track during a recent interview with HipHopDX at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. For the song, Thundercat also teamed up with Bilal and Anna Wise. The song eventually won Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards. The project as a whole also won Best Rap Album that year.

“My favorite studio session that I was in, gotta be honest: it was probably singing ‘These Walls,’” Thundercat told the outlet. “And a lot of my friends at the time didn’t realize that I sang. And so, my friends were just staring in my face like, ‘What is he doing right now?’ And I was like, ‘Can you guys leave the room so I can… I don’t wanna be looking in my friends’ eyes singing about these walls.’”

“It’s just looking at Terrace [Martin] in the eyes, singing in my highest Michael McDonald voice,” Thundercat recounted. “Terrace is smiling like, ‘What about these walls, Steven?’ And I’m like, ‘Stop it!’ I couldn’t pause because the track is gonna keep going, so I gotta keep singing. There is no pause, it’s just continually me singing these walls and harmonies.” He continued: “And my friends looking down my throat. Don’t look at me like that,” he added laughing. “I’m a grown man, I pay taxes; I’ve been to jail. Don’t do that!”

Thundercat also recently admitted that he wishes he had more time to collaborate with Lamar than he has. Ahead of the release of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Thundercat discussed his appreciation for the former TDE rapper with Japanese fashion brand Neet Tokyo. He admitted: “I wish I could spend more time around him creating just because he gives off such energy and he knows what he wants a lot of time. Some of my favorite moments of recording are with Kendrick.”

Hit-Boy & The Alchemist Rap On Each Other’s Beats On “Slipping Into Darkness”

Hit-Boy and Alchemist, two of the most trusted producers in hip-hop, showed out this week when they came through with some bars. Larry June brought The Alchemist on stage where the producer put his MC hat on and rapped a verse for a rather unenthusiastic Rolling Loud crowd. However, many reminisced on Alc’s beginnings as Mudfoot when he rapped as part of the duo The Whooliganz, alongside Mad Skillz (fka Scott Caan). Still, not everyone knew of The Alchemist’s lengthy history and it undoubtedly caught people off-guard.

As for Hit-Boy, he came out swinging when Hitmaka called him out during an interview. Hitmaka claimed Hit-Boy didn’t boast enough radio records to compete with him, which is crazy considering the Ventura-born producer put together records like “SICKO MODE” and “N***as In Paris.” Hit-Boy fired back with a preview of new music where he called out Hitmaka along with other contemporaries like Metro Boomin and Mustard. The single was actually part of a collab between Hit-Boy and The Alchemist that debuted earlier today.

Hit-Boy & The Alchemist – Slipping Into Darkness

Just after Metro Boomin dished his response, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist debuted a new video titled, “Slipping Into Darkness.” The impressive effort between the two producers showcases their bars and production. Hit-Boy raps over Alchemist’s production and vice versa for an unexpected collab. “You gotta rap on this shit. I’m gonna rap on what you got. That’ll be nasty,” Hit-Boy says before they leap into the record.

The Alchemist’s on his backpacker vibes, sounding like a long-lost member of Griselda on this one. Meanwhile, Hit-Boy comes through with impressive set of bars that finds him declaring himself as the “best student Kanye’s ever had,” before leaping into his barrage of insults towards his fellow producers. Though Hit-Boy and Alchemist are excellent producers, they prove that their talents extend well beyond an MPC. Check out the collab above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics
This feel like childhood summer trips, I’ve been a modest supplicant
They rob you for publishin’, that feel like a punishment
How people I only met once, don’t look like none of us?
Movin’ with this wild behaviour, that shit that shattered my trust

T.I. & Kevin Gates Stay Solid On “Active”

In the midst of his fallout with Boosie Badazz, T.I. is currently gearing up for the release of his final album with a new single alongside Kevin Gates. Tip recently began the rollout for his forthcoming project, Kill The King, which will mark the end of his era in rap. Though it’s unclear if he’ll commit to comedy full-time, the “Whatever You Like” rapper plans to dethrone himself as the self-proclaimed “King Of The South” – a title he’s carried for the last two decades.

While T.I. dished out a few singles over the past year, he began teasing a collaboration with Kevin Gates in 2022. The song leaked online after Tip began teasing the record on Instagram, though it seemed like the unofficial version terminated the possibilities of an official release. However, earlier this week, T.I. began to tease the single with Kevin Gates again, as fans anticipated two Southern giants connecting on wax for a commanding street banger.

T.I. – Active Ft. Kevin Gates

This morning, T.I. unveiled the single with Kevin Gates in full.  Javar Rockamore of The Loopholes delivers a menacing production with ghostly synths sweeping through the enchanting guitar strings. Tip and Gates evidently bring out the best in each other throughout the record as they both reflect on the spiritual crossroads. Gates opens his verse with a passage from the Qu’ran before spilling an emotionally potent verse that details the intersection between his spirituality and his street deeds.

Though Gates holds down both the hook and his verse, the record intends to showcase their lyrical swords. T.I. similarly opens up his verse with a passage from Psalm 91 before bearing his soul in one of his most impressive verses in a while. Tip looks back at the hardships he’s faced throughout his life, from the streets to rap, detailing how he overcame adversity to prosper. Hopefully, a release date for Kill The King arrives shortly. Peep T.I.’s latest collaboration with Kevin Gates above.

Quotable Lyrics
Treat ’em like a clown in a nightgown
Catch ’em slippin’, get his nose wipe down
Pullin’ up in those Goose so clean, still politickin’ with some dope fiend
Probably tellin’ me to keep my nose clean, lookin’ like I’m droppin’ off a whole thing
But I ain’t touched the shit since the 90’s
