Eminem Collabs Caused Racial Backlash For G-Unit, Tony Yayo Claims

During his most recent interview with DJ Vlad, Tony Yayo recalled an unfortunate public reaction to G-Unit’s work with Eminem. Moreover, the rapper explained that a lot of people weren’t happy with the group’s embrace of a white MC. Of course, those conversations are still present in today’s hip-hop debates, even among legends of the genre. Still, during his remarks, Yayo defended the Detroit legend’s lyrical skill, his influence, and all that he did for the group during their peak. In addition, he spoke briefly on his relationship with Benzino and how hip-hop media outlets contributed to that backlash.

“We even got called house n***as for f***ing with Eminem,” Tony Yayo recalled. “The Source, they would take it to a whole ‘nother level. That’s when the disrespect for me was like, well damn, what does color have to do with anything with music? What does color have to do with anything with people? I don’t care what color or religion you are. That’s just me. We from New York. It’s a melting pot of people. We grew up around all kinds of people, so I don’t give a f**k what color you are. I don’t look at you as a culture vulture ’cause you white. That could be somebody else’s opinion. It’s not mine. Melle Mel said something about Eminem. He did more for me, him and 50, than anybody has ever done in my career.

Tony Yayo Recalls G-Unit Getting Backlash For Working With Eminem

“Till the day it’s all said and done, I’ma shout-out Eminem,” Tony Yayo continued. “But everybody always blow shots at Eminem. He wouldn’t be on [Billboard‘s top 50 greatest rappers of all time] list if he wasn’t a f***ing lyrical tyrant. If he wasn’t f***ing nice with it, they wouldn’t be mad at him.” During a XXL op-ed in 2022, Marshall Mathers (or Slim Shady) reflected on these themes, as well. “When things started happening for me, I was getting a lot of heat, being a white rapper, and XXL wrote something about that,” he revealed. “I remember going to one of those newsstands in New York when the magazine had just started out, and I bought that and a couple of other rap magazines. I flipped to the last page first and XXL was dissing me. What the f**k?

“I don’t even know if I read the whole article,” he continued. “I was used to reading things like that about me, but it hurt because I felt they didn’t know me to make that kind of judgment. Coming up, I had to deal with that a lot. I wanted to be respectful because what I do is Black music. I knew I was coming into it as a guest in the house. And XXLThe SourceRap Pages and VIBE were Hip Hop bibles at the time. I understood, at the same time, everybody’s perception of a white guy coming into Hip Hop and all of a sudden things start happening for him. So, if XXL would’ve even had a conversation with me, maybe they would’ve understood me more.” For more news and the latest updates on Tony Yayo and Eminem, stay up to date on HNHH.

Tee Grizzley Speaks On Nipsey Hussle’s Praise For Him

Tee Grizzley is an artist who has gotten attention from a lot of high-profile figures in the hip-hop world. Although he may not be the most mainstream artist out there, his peers have a ton of respect for him. Much of this has to do with his sound as well as his recognizable flow. Moreover, he has been steadily growing as an artist, and it has been clear as day. We got to see some of this growth on his latest project with Skilla Baby called Controversy. The 12-track album was a hit with fans and it brought him back to his Detroit roots.

Having said that, there is one artist who Tee Grizzley never got the chance to work with. That artist is none other than the late and great Nipsey Hussle. Although some may say the two have nothing in common, this is not actually the case. As it turns out, there were quite a few Detroit artists who Nip was interested in. Big Sean and Payroll Giovanni were two of them. Additionally, Tee Grizzley was one of the names mentioned. While speaking to HipHopDX, Grizzley explained what it meant to get such a legendary co-sign.

Nipsey Hussle Was A Fan Of Tee Grizzley

“It’s crazy ’cause I ain’t know Nipsey fucked with me until after he passed,” Tee Grizzley explained. “Then I seen that interview I’m like damn, I ain’t even know bro fucked with me like that for real.” Overall, it is hard to know what kind of collaboration this would have been. It could have gone in a few different directions. Either Tee Grizzley would have gone with Nipsey’s style of rap, or Hussle would have gone with the Detroit flow. Now that would have been a whole lot of fun to hear.

No matter what, it is cool to see how Nipsey Hussle had respect for the new generation, especially when it came to the new styles that have emerged. His presence is still very much missed in the music industry, and his peers would certainly agree. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world.

Young Thug, on the other hand, is in the midst of the ongoing YSL RICO trial. Earlier this month, it was revealed that the rapper had been hospitalized for the second time amid the legal proceedings. The Weeknd & Playboi Carti Collab Debuts At “The Idol” Red Carpet Premiere

The Weeknd sought the finest talent in Atlanta to create The Idol Vol. 1, the soundtrack to his upcoming HBO series. The Toronto singer appeared on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival where the controversial television show’s pilot premiered. As The Weeknd, Lily Depp-Rose, and Sam Levinson appeared in front of the press and fans, the singer debuted a brand new song alongside Playboi Carti. Although an unexpected pairing, the early 2000s-inspired production serves as a perfect backdrop for their combined efforts.

At this point, there’s no additional information surrounding their collaboration. However, HBO confirmed The Idol will debut on June 4th, which signals that the soundtrack could arrive around the same time. Prior to the debut of the Playboi Carti collaboration, The Weeknd shared “Double Fantasy” ft. Future and previewed a cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy.” Between Future and Playboi Carti, it’ll be interesting to see the other artists The Weeknd collaborated with for the soundtrack of his upcoming series.

The Weeknd Debuts Playboi Carti Collab

As fans anticipate new music from Playboi Carti, his upcoming collaboration with The Weeknd seems like it could be the first taste of his next project. Throughout the past few months, there have been a number of updates from his inner circle, including DJ Swamp Izzo, who stated that the project was complete. Carti himself hasn’t confirmed a release date but Izzo stated that it would see a summer release. Meanwhile, he debuted a single titled “Rockstar” at Rolling Loud earlier this year.

The upcoming series on HBO, The Idol, has already spurred divisiveness on the Internet. The provocative nature of the show led to criticism online due to allegations of sexism and “torture porn.” Many of the television critics who attended the premiere seemingly reaffirmed these claims. Still, the debut at Cannes Film Festival proved to be a success for the most part. There have been reports claiming that the show received a five-minute standing ovation after the pilot premiered. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding the show. For now, check out The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s snippet above.

Cardi B Collab With Shakira Rumored To Be Released This Summer

Cardi B, the outspoken rapper from New York, has always maintained a reputation for her unfiltered and uncensored nature. This is exactly the behavior that has endeared her to her fans. Sadly, it appears that Twitter is not as receptive to her often explicit content. Twitter allegedly subjected her account to a “shadow ban” after she responded in a provocative manner to a video of Janelle Monáe. The video, which featured Monáe exposing her bare breasts during a performance, garnered significant attention and went viral.

Upon seeing the footage, Cardi B seized the opportunity to openly express her attraction to Monáe, much like many of her fans have done. She shared an image featuring reality star and OnlyFans content creator Natalie Nunn engaging in intimate activity with another woman. Although she used it only to convey her feelings, the platform did not appreciate it and swiftly removed the message. In the days that followed, Cardi B noticed a considerable decline in her Twitter engagement. As such, she publicly reached out to CEO Elon Musk, appealing for assistance.

Cardi + Shakira = Song Of The Summer?

Twitter shadow ban aside, Cardi B seems like she might be gearing up to take over the airwaves this summer. According to a post on Twitter from “Pop Tingz,” the Bronx native may be teaming up with Colombian hitmaker Shakira for a new track. A subsequent tweet revealed that the song’s name was “Estoy Lamida.” While the Twitter account did not post a source, it turns out that the news comes directly from BMI. There, the song was registered to both artists. So, regardless of whether or not it does end up coming out this summer, we know that it actually exists.

Cardi also recently won a big defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Tasha K. The YouTuber was ordered to pay Cardi B upwards of $4 million. After the ruling, Tasha K. posted an update, which read “PSA Winos I just paid off my 4 million dollar debt in cash.” Cardi was quick to respond, saying that she would check her Apple Pay for the payment. If the collaboration between Cardi and Shakira really is released soon, she’ll likely be adding quite a bit more to her bank account. What do you think of the news? Let us know in the comments!

But [Cole] definitely gave me one of them verses and I appreciate it. ‘Cause he ain’t even have to, for real. He could’ve given us anything.” Durk caught some flack for his comments, with one user writing, “He’s not super big on lyrics, Lyrical Rappers……Then what is my generation of rappers doing on songs smh.” “I like Dirk’s music but cmon bro.
