T.I. Delivers On Promise Of Dropping An NBA YoungBoy Collab With “LLOGCLAY”

When you think about the founding fathers of trap music, especially from the hallowed city of Atlanta, T.I. automatically deserves a spot. The legend has been around for over 20 years and provided the genre with countless classics, especially in the late 2000s. However, as the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end.” T.I. is supposedly going to call it quits musically speaking after he drops a double album.

The rumored title for said project(s) is Kill The King and Kiss The King, but we have inside information as to when it will drop. T.I. announced this news during an October interview with the crew over at the We In Miami podcast. What he also revealed to the world was that an NBA YoungBoy collaboration was in the works and that it was going to a surprising listen for fans. That track that T.I. is referring to now has a title and it is called “LLOGCLAY.”

This first-time collaboration between two of the South’s most prolific names sees them rap passionately over a piano and finger-snapping instrumental. T.I. lowkey was not lying when he said this was going to be something fresh. YB puts forth one of his best recordings and his cadence is smoky and deeper than usual. It is a beautiful track and T.I. dedicated this track to an assumed close friend of his. “This 1 is for my day 1 patna Clay Evans, rest in power King!!”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “LLOGCLAY” by T.I. and NBA YoungBoy? Is this one of his stronger releases as of late, why or why not? Did YB give one of his strongest performances of his career on this cut, why or why not? Does this get you excited for T.I.’s upcoming and final double album? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Future & Tee Grizzley Display Great Chemistry On “Swear To God”

Even though this weekend has been loaded up with tons of releases from some of the upper echelon talents, many fans were distraught and frustrated. A series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) a couple of days ago from Future set the platform ablaze, as he seemingly was hinting at a new mixtape dropping on May 10. “F*** yo album S*** ain’t slappin like my MIXTAPE.” “MAY TENTH🤧.” “MIXTAPE PLUTO.” These were all of the messages that had fans pumped for a possible third project from the Georgia legend in a span of two months.

Another reason why fans have been upset this afternoon was because there was speculation of Future and Gunna competing with one another. They have been subliminally dissing each other, especially because Gunna is a free man and Young Thug is still going to court hearings. However, the opposite has been true. All Future was doing was teasing lyrics from a collaboration cut with Tee Grizzley. The track, “Swear to God,” features both trap MCs over a nasty Wheezy beat and the Future tweets pop in right at the beginning on the chorus.

Pluto claims this track as his by providing a verse as well, even though he is credited as a feature. But both artists do complement each other well and it makes sense. These two veterans share similar styles and they have worked together in the past once before. That happened on a YNW Melly album cut “Freddy Krueger” back in 2021. Be sure to check out the trending single with the link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Swear to God” by Tee Grizzley and Future? Individually is this one of their stronger releases as of late, why or why not? Do you think Tee is gearing up for a new project soon? Were you fooled when Future tweeted about a new mixtape? Who had the stronger performance? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Dave East Teases Another New Tape With Hustler Anthem “SO MUCH CHANGED” Assisted By Mike & Keys & Stacy Barthe

Dave East is one of New York’s hardest working rappers going right now and “SO MUCH CHANGED” shows that blue-collar mentality tenfold. This is the Harlem resident’s latest release, and it doubles as a lead single for yet another new project. The “Phone Jumpin” artist is teaming up with a new producer this time around for Apt 6E. This time around, Harry Fraud of 2 Piece is being replaced by the equally talented duo Mike & Keys.

There is no release date yet, but hopefully the gap in between this single and the final product will not be too unbearable. Also joining Dave East on this effort is frequent rap chorus expert and singer Stacy Barthe. Many hip-hop heads will remember her most for her beautiful contributions to the late Nipsey Hussle track “Victory Lap.” On “SO MUCH CHANGED,” Dave raps with a lot of passion and at a perfect pace to boot.

You can almost hear a bit of Tupac’s influence shining through from the flow side of things. East was clearly not shy to pay homage to one of the pillars of the genre in a promotional IG post for the track. “Rest In Paradise Tupac Amaru Shakur,” East wrote. All of the elements are working in harmony on this gritty track, especially the bouncy and punchy Mike & Keys beat.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “SO MUCH CHANGED” by Dave East, Mike & Keys, and Stacy Barthe? Is this one of his better tracks as of late, why or why not? Does this get you excited for his upcoming project, Apt 6E? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Channel Tres Begins Rollout For His Impending Debut Album With Lead Single “Berghain” Featuring Barney Bones

After a handful of EPs, loads of features across multiple genres, and several loose singles, Compton, California multi-talent Channel Tres is prepping for his debut album. According to multiple reports, including Pitchfork, the soon-to-be 33-year-old is titling the project Head Rush. The release date is June 14 and will be released through RCA records. To get the ball rolling on it, Channel Tres has decided to drop the project’s lead single “Berghain,” with fellow Cali artist Barney Bones. Over the course of his complex career, Channel has never really fit into one genre. His chameleon-like tendencies shine through on this nightclub ready track once again.

The comparison is apt here because this song has a personal tie to the Berlin, Germany club of the same name. It is personal due to the fact that Channel visited this location, and it inspired him to create this trippy and hypnotic cut. “It’s about the time I played Berghain and how the culture in that environment made me feel, I didn’t feel weird anymore. Everyone’s the same, the goal for everyone in that place is to enjoy themselves and be free, and music played a pivotal role in that, said Tres.

“It was the main thing for me, and I wanted to document that experience I had there through music so that I always have that memory in my life. So, I can feel that memory while I’m performing and relive that experience.” On the track, you can definitely tell that he feels at home on this production and this track certainly is a Head Rush, to say the least. Be sure to support Channel and Barney’s single “Berghain” with the dizzying visuals above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Berghain” by Channel Tres and Barney Bones? Does this get you excited for the multi-hyphenate’s upcoming debut album, why or why not? Who had the stronger performance? Does Channel have one of the most underrated voices in the genre? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Conway The Machine Enters Key Glock’s Playing Field On “Ten/Rya Interlude” With Rya Maxwell

Conway the Machine is gearing for up for yet another project in just one week called SFK (Slant Faced Killer). It will be his fourth studio album, so you know he is going all out for it. The proof is in the massive list of features he revealed to the world just yesterday via Instagram. From all-time great producers to rappers of all sorts of stature, it will definitely be an event. One feature that sticks out to us is Key Glock.

Because of the aggressive Memphis trap sound Glock brings, and the dusty boom-bap beats that Conway coasts over, the mixture will be interesting. Well, now we know what that sounds like, as the Buffalo MC has dropped their first-ever collab, “Ten/Rya Interlude.” Conway sounds great over the hard-hitting trap percussion and Glock delivers his familiar gruesome and braggadocious lyricism. As you can tell from the title, this is a two-part track, and on the second half Rya Maxwell completely takes over.

His portion is not bad, but his delivery is a little off-putting at times, and not nearly as effective as the “Ten” side of the single. The fade in to second half is done pretty well, though. The first leg slowly disappears, with almost complete silence following right after. Then, a slight portion of the new trap instrumental slowly begins to reveal itself. This is now the third single, with “Give & Give” with Cool & Dre, and “Vertino” with Joey Bada$$ dropping about two months prior.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Ten/Rya Interlude” by Conway the Machine, Key Glock and Rya Maxwell? Does Conway have an album of the year contender incoming, why or why not? Who had the stronger performance on the track? Do you like the Key and Conway duo? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Yeat Goes 2/2 On “King Tonka” & “Heavy Stunts” With Don Toliver

Yeat has been going on an underrated run this year, especially when you factor in all of the rap beefs and major releases. His latest album 2093, while divisive, did receive a lot of love from critics and is seen as his best work to date. The Oregon-bred and California-based rapper really expanded on his distorted and futuristic rage sound, and it has placed him in a playing field with the genre’s biggest competitors. Over the months following the project, Yeat has been dropping some fire singles, with “King tonka and “Heavy stunts” being two more welcome additions.

This two-pack supersedes his trippy Soundcloud release “HeliMan” from just two weeks ago. It is not clear if these tracks are hinting at a new project, or a separate version of 2093 like how we got with P2 (Phase 2). For now, we are just enjoying this twofer for what they are, which is spacey trap bangers. Both are solid offerings, but “Heavy stunts” is one we want to highlight.

Listen To “King Tonka” & “Heavy Stunts” By Yeat & Don Toliver

This first-ever collaboration between Yeat and Don Toliver is a good first look at what these two could put forth in the future. It is a duo we can certainly see producing more in the future based on their similar approaches. When Don pops in for the second verse, he begins by mimicking Yeat’s deep, monotone cadence before bringing out his higher-pitched and nasally delivery we are accustomed to. Their chemistry is off to a great start, and we cannot wait for more.

What are your thoughts on these brand-new singles “King tonka” and “Heavy stunts” by Yeat and Don Toliver? Which track are you enjoying more right now and why? Do you need more Don Toliver collabs going forward? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Why my fans wanna crowd me? Tell me how this soundin’

My diamonds got from drownin’ (We chop—)
Ha-ha, this s*** a big-big business, smoke you down like a cigar

Rapsody & Erykah Badu Are Lovestruck On “3:AM”

About two and half months ago, Erykah Badu celebrated turning 53 years young with a show in her hometown of Dallas, Texas. Joining her onstage for her birthday bash was North Carolina veteran femcee Rapsody. Their performance together went viral mostly because of thirsty men online. Badu sported booty shorts that male fans googly-eyed and simping. But hip-hop heads were also ecstatic because of the snippet that these two legends previewed. “3:AM” from Rapsody and Erykah Badu is now here, and it is quite spectacular.

This is now the third single from the “OooWee” rapper’s forthcoming record Please Don’t Cry. The May 17 release first began its rollout back in October of last year with “Asteroids” featuring production from Hit-Boy. It would not be until March that we received the second offering “Stand Tall.” The feature list is going to be stacked, with names like Lil Wayne, Baby Tate, Alex Isley, and Niko Brim also in the fold.

Listen To “3:AM” By Rapsody & Erykah Badu

From the brief audio we heard at Badu’s show, “3:AM” seemed to be leaning into the R&B side of things. Those suspicions were correct, as both leading ladies sing and rap about being infatuated with their partners. Badu’s high-pitched and nasally voice on the chorus and in the background complement Rap’s passionate performance. The instrumental is slow, sensual, and extremely dreamy and in our eyes, Rapsody is three for three so far.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “3:AM” by Rapsody and Erykah Badu? Does this get you excited for her upcoming album Please Don’t Cry, why or why not? Who had the stronger performance on the track? Did this collaboration live up to the hype? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Madlib & Your Old Droog Preview Their Upcoming LP With “REEKYOD” Featuring Black Thought

Madlib and Your Old Droog continue to build and strengthen their work relationship with another new single “REEKYOD.” This is now the second offering we have received from this acclaimed duo in the last few weeks. “DBZ” was their last effort and that lyrical powerhouse of a track included extra bars from Denzel Curry and Method Man. On that single, Denzel was making some noise on it by apparently dissing Kendrick Lamar. “‘Cause using big words don’t make you lyrical / And going backwards in a swimmin’ pool don’t make you spiritual.” While “REEKYOD” does not have any subliminal shots, it does have gritty production and adept lyrics from Droog and Black Thought.

According to Stereogum, Madlib and Droog are gearing up to drop a collaboration album in the near future. For the decorated producer, it will be his third project of the year, following up YHWH is LOVE and Liberation 2. For the Brooklynite, it will be his first record in about a year and a half since YOD Presents: The Shining. According to The Source, Droog shared how thrilled he was to be a part of this song, as well as the project on the way.

Polo Perks, AyooLii Are Carefree On FearDorian-Produced “Ricky Eats Acid”

At the beginning of 2024 we introduced a new rapper to you via an Artists You Need To Check Out Right Now piece. It is a series we are running throughout the calendar year, introducing smaller names that we feel deserve recognition. One of the first to be shouted out was Milwaukee, Wisconsin rapper, AyooLii. He works alongside producer FearDorian quite often, and today he is teaming up with him once again. However, this is not an AyooLii exclusive track. “Ricky Eats Acid,” is a single from Harlem, New York rapper Polo Perks (POLO PERKS <3 <3 <3).”

Like AyooLii, Polo Perks, makes trap rap with a bit of a hazy and laid-back approach. “Ricky Eats Acid” fits that description too, although the energy is higher this time around. Polo sports a husky cadence over the simple beat and looping, ghostly background vocals. This track follows up two 2023 collaborations for Perks and it is his first solo release since March of last year.

You can tell from the music video that the “ALLYNDALE DR” MC has a lot of fun making music. That is evident from the song’s tone, but also from the music video. At the end, there is a blooper where he is laughing and goofing off with the background dancers. Be sure to support Polo Perks, AyooLii, and FearDorian and their new song with the link above.
