Ciara & Chris Brown Show “How We Roll” On Our “R&B Season” Playlist Update

Now that August is officially upon us, it’s becoming increasingly evident that the final weeks of summer are slipping away. It’s always hard to see the long days slip away into long, dark nights, but with the cool weather typically comes an increase in the number of songs on our weekly R&B Season updates. On Friday (August 4), yet another collection of new arrivals hit DSPs, and we’ve rounded up our favourites for today’s playlist. At the top of the list is the latest from Usher, “Good Good,” for which he connected with both Summer Walker and 21 Sav.

Following that comes another noteworthy collaboration from Ciara and Chris Brown. The longtime friends have connected plenty of times over the years, and the former announced that she’s got a new EP on the way later this month that could potentially hear from other R&B friends. Chloe Bailey has been holding it down on the charts for her and Halle this year as the younger of the two sisters focused on The Little Mermaid, but this weekend she shared her debut solo single, “Angel,” which finds the 23-year-old bringing listeners to tears with her beautiful voice.

From Snoh Aalegra we have “Sweet Tea,” and 6LACK joined forces with Jordan Ward for “MUSTARD.” Both of those titles would surely make welcome additions to anyone’s summertime playlist, but the track we’ve really had on repeat over the past few days comes from Jorja Smith. It’s called “GO GO GO,” and as per usual, it features beautiful vocals from the UK-based songstress.

Further down, you’ll find older additions from Burna Boy, James Blake, Beyonce, Travis Scott, Leon Thomas, Victoria Monet, and many more of the genre’s best artists. Ciara And Chris Brown Party Together On “How We Roll”

Two of the best R&B voices join forces once more on a new single. Ciara and Chris Brown have dropped their track “How We Roll,” and this is one that has been mentioned to us before. In April, Brown shared with his Instagram followers that he had some heat coming with Ciara and it is finally here. These two collaborated in 2009 with “Turntables” on Ciara’s album Fantasy Ride.

In the music video below, both crooners show off their dancing expertise as both of the parties they speak about in the music video, come together. They share a dance toward the end and it certainly had to have been a fun time shooting it. Both are singing, in harmony at times, about getting ready to get down and dirty with their partner. Furthermore, they express that it is their love and that they should not care about how other people view their relationship.

Stirring Up Controversy

As most music fans and people around the world know, Chris Brown has a troubling past that still comes up. For example, he was supposed to perform at the AMA last year during the Michael Jackson Tribute. But, it can be assumed that it was due to the situation surrounding Rihanna. Couple that with Jackson’s situation he was involved with, and it most likely was not the best choice for the producers to have that happen. Twitter users were certainly not afraid to sound off on Ciara making music with Brown again saying, “Ewww, why is Ciara platforming Chr*s Br*wn knowing he’s an abuser?”

What are your overall thoughts on the song? Do you think that Ciara should not work with Chris Brown based on other fans’ reactions? Make sure to tell us what you think in the comments section below. As always, stay tuned into HNHH for all the news around music and new songs.

Quotable Lyrics:

I ain’t gonna tell you lies

Russell Wilson Seemingly Clapped Back At Future With A Subtle But Petty Photo Caption

Last week, Atlanta rapper Future seemingly revived his feud with Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson on Quavo’s new song “Turn Yo Clic Up.” In his verse, Future says, “I got it out the field, f*ck Russell,” which some fans took to be a clear shot at Wilson, with whom Future has been feuding since 2015, when Wilson began dating R&B singer Ciara after she broke up with Future in 2014.

However, Wilson has always taken the high road, choosing not to respond to Future’s provocations — at least, not directly. He continued in this strategy with his latest social media post, which fans have determined is the best kind of subtle clapback. Posting a photo of himself and his stepson, Future (yes, he’s named after his dad), Wilson captioned the post: “Best part of the day #DadLife.” Given the criticism that the adult Future has taken online for taking a supposedly aloof parenting style to his seven children, Fans were delighted to see the laid-back football player gain the upper hand in their exchange.

There are a lot of good responses, but this one pretty much sums it up: “Future said I’m really in the field f*ck Russell.. then Russ took a pic in the field with his kid .. this uncharted territory of disrespect.”

Yup. You can check out more responses below.

Future Takes Aim at Russell Wilson in New Song, Stirring Controversy

Atlanta rapper Future has sparked controversy with his latest feature on Quavo’s new song, “Turn Yo Clic Up.” In the track, the “Mask Off” rapper throws shade at his ex-fiancée Ciara’s husband, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson. In the song, Future boldly exclaims, “I got it out the field, F*** Russell,” alluding to his own success […]

Future Seemingly Wants To Revive His Feud With Russell Wilson On Quavo’s ‘Turn Yo Clic Up’

Future and Quavo reignited their creative chemistry on Quavo’s new single “Turn Yo Clic Up,” but that isn’t the only thing being revived. It seems Future’s been carrying a torch for Russell Wilson all this time, and he drops a couple of lines on the song that has fans believing he’s stoking the flames of his one-sided rivalry with his ex-flame Ciara‘s current husband.

In his verse, Future throws out the line, “Big dawg status, bill hopper / I ball in his mall for my brothers / Goyard bag, tote the cutter / I got it out the field, fuck Russell.” The punchline plays on rappers referencing “the field” — i.e. “the streets,” “the mud,” “the trap” — with Wilson’s occupation as quarterback for the NFL’s Denver Broncos. Here’s the track:

Future has seemingly long resented Wilson; after splitting up with Future, with whom she shares one child, in 2014, Ciara moved on with Russell Wilson in 2016. They were married in July of that year, and ever since, it seems Future can’t seem to help throwing petty shots at Wilson, despite co-parenting with Ciara. In 2019, he accused Wilson of “not being a man in that position,” after Ciara responded to him naming her in his song “My Collection. (Seems like she’d stop talking about him if he’d stop talking about her, though. Also, he was the one who allegedly blew it, so he’s kind of throwing stones from a glass house.)

Russell has, thus far, shrugged off Future’s antics — which could all just be pantomime for fans of his “toxic” persona, anyway.

Ciara’s Best Hits From The 2000s

Be prepared to get your “one, two, step” on as we reflect on how Ciara dominated the charts in the 2000s. The Atlanta artist stormed the industry with “Goodies,” a track that fused Pop & R&B to perfection. The track arrived on her debut album of the same name—a record that spawned several fan favorites. Undoubtedly, CiCi’s contributions to the 2000s shaped her into a formidable R&B-Pop-Hip Hop force, and we’re looking back at those jams we still can’t get enough of.

From her chart-topping debut “Goodies” to the sultry collaboration “Love, Sex, Magic” with Justin Timberlake, Ciara has consistently demonstrated her versatility and talent throughout the decade. Not only will we delve into the success of hits like “1, 2, Step” and “Oh,” but we’ll also discuss the empowering messages behind songs such as “Like a Boy.” Additionally, we’ll celebrate Ciara’s growth as an artist, from her first album Goodies to her later work on Fantasy Ride. These memorable tracks cement why Ciara remains an undeniable hitmaker.

“Goodies” ft. Petey Pablo (2004)

“Goodies” featuring Petey Pablo, one of Ciara’s massive 2000 hits, skyrocketed the singer to fame in 2004. This catchy debut single topped charts and became an instant fan favorite. Released in June, “Goodies” dominated summer airwaves and earned a spot on Ciara’s debut album, Goodies, released later in September. Fans and critics praised Ciara’s fusion of R&B and Hip Hop, catapulting the song to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for seven consecutive weeks. The track has gone down in music history as a quintessential 2000s hit and a defining moment in Ciara’s career.

“1, 2 Step” ft. Missy Elliott (2004)

“1, 2, Step” featuring Missy Elliott also took the music world by storm in 2004. Following the massive success of “Goodies,” Ciara released this irresistible dance anthem in October, featuring Elliott’s iconic verse. Fans helped the record quickly climb the charts to peak at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. As the second single from Goodies, “1, 2, Step” continued to map out Ciara’s superstardom.

“Oh” ft. Ludacris (2005)

Ciara continued to impress with “Oh” featuring Ludacris, a chart-topper released in March 2005. This collaboration showcased Ciara’s sultry R&B stylings paired with Luda’s dynamic bars. This was the third single from Goodies, confirming that Ciara and her team were off to a meteoric climb. The song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The collaboration won over listeners, further solidifying Ciara’s place in the music industry.

“Like a Boy” (2006)

“Like a Boy” resonated with fans after its 2007 release. This thought-provoking single challenged gender stereotypes and offered a fresh perspective. As a standout track from Ciara’s sophomore album The Evolution, “Like a Boy” was also a fast favorite, peaking at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s empowering message and unforgettable music video earned Ciara rave reviews.

“Promise” (2006)

“Promise,” a sultry slow jam, earned critical acclaim upon its 2006 release. As the lead single from The Evolution, “Promise” showed Ciara’s maturation as a performer. The song made its way to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its seductive melody resonated with listeners. This also confirmed Ciara’s adaptable talent exceeded her signature dance anthems.

“Get Up” ft. Chamillionaire (2006)

“Get Up,” an energetic collaboration between Ciara and Chamillionaire, arrived in 2006. This dance anthem was featured on both the Step Up movie soundtrack and Ciara’s The Evolution. Ciara’s dynamic performance, alongside Chamillionaire’s verse, drove the song to success, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Ciara’s career is also known for the singer’s effortless ability to collaborate with notable rappers who aren’t often known for Pop-adjacent releases.

“Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone” ft. 50 Cent (2007)

“Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone” stormed the industry in 2007. 50 Cent joined Ciara on the single—another from The Evolution. Fans embraced the chemistry between the two artists, propelling the song to chart success, where it peaked at No. 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. In more recent years, TikTok users revisited the collaboration, which had a brief and small viral moment online. Additionally, Fif and CiCi were rumored to have dated around the time that this song came out.

“Go Girl” ft. T-Pain (2008)

They’re two hitmakers at the top of their games in the 2000s, so it is no surprise that Ciara and T-Pain collided on a track. “Go Girl” added to Ciara’s 2000 hits with its 2008 release. This high-energy dance track, featured on Ciara’s third studio album Fantasy Ride, got bodies moving. This one wasn’t as successful on the charts, peaking at No. 78 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, the charts can’t predict which songs will go down as a fan favorite in history.

“Love, Sex, Magic” ft. Justin Timberlake (2009)

“Love, Sex, Magic,” a sizzling collaboration between Ciara and Justin Timberlake, was released in 2009. This seductive track, also from Fantasy Ride, enthralled fans with its contagious rhythm. The chemistry between Ciara and Timberlake’s vocals created a charting hit, which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Seeing Ciara and the N’SYNC frontman come together made perfect sense as two Pop icons.
