Drake & Kendrick Lamar Shouldn’t Be In Top 10 Rappers List, Says Charlamagne Tha God

Billboard and VIBE recently came out with their top 50 rappers of all time list, for which the top 10 ranking released this week. However, many people expressed issues with the placements, as expected with any subjective list. One detractor is Charlamagne Tha God, who said Kendrick Lamar and Drake don’t belong at No. 2 and 8, respectively. Moreover, the Breakfast Club co-host discussed the list with his fellow on-air colleagues, and he said it’s “too early” in their careers to tell. Of course, both rappers continue to dominate and forge their paths, but maybe their accomplishments are already enough to rival the game’s best.

“I feel like it’s too early for Drake and Kendrick to be saying stuff like that,” he remarked as DJ Envy went through the list. “Of all time? God damn! Penis is a form of transportation for y’all.” Still, both MCs clearly made some of the largest waves in hip-hop history. The 6 God, for example, recently became the first artist to amass over 75 billion streams on Spotify. Whereas the “God’s Plan” star leads the charts, K. Dot leads the culture. Following three Grammy wins last weekend, he’s now the third most decorated rapper in Grammy history. Moreover, Jay-Z and Kanye West currently share that honor at 24 phonograms each. For what it’s worth, Ye landed at No. 11 on Billboard‘s list, and Hov is Billboard‘s greatest rapper of all time.

In addition, the top ten also included Biggie, Nas, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Lil Wayne. Other names near the top are André 3000, Rakim, LL Cool J, J. Cole, Scarface, 50 Cent, and Ice Cube. In fact, Cube was another member of hip-hop culture that criticized the rankings. “I don’t f**k with Billboard or their editor,” he told TMZ with a smile. “Billboard ain’t hip-hop so their opinion don’t matter. Yeah, it is,” he acknowledged on the travesty of Too $hort’s snub.

“It’s an irrelevant list, you know what I mean? It’s like assholes; everybody got one and they all stink. There it is.” Who else should’ve made (or been omitted from) Billboard and VIBE‘s top 10 rappers list? However you may feel, let us know how you’d make the tough call in the comments below. Also, as always, come back to HNHH for the latest on hip-hop debates and the genre’s greatest.

Charlamagne Tha God Is Disappointed In How J. Prince Handled Offset

Hip Hop hasn’t been happy with J. Prince after he reignited a verbal war with Offset and Cardi B. Prince has been entangled in controversy following the death of Takeoff. The rapper was murdered during a private party in Houston on November 1. Prince’s relatives were at the event, including his son J. Prince Jr., and the family has taken hits from the public about the late Migos rapper.

During his recent Million Dollaz Worth of Game interview, Prince didn’t have kind words for Offset. He suggested that Offset and Takeoff weren’t on good terms when the latter passed. He also alleged Offset’s family doesn’t “f*ck with” him, and later, the rapper snapped back in a video.

The exchange could have ended there, if not at least publicly, but yesterday, Prince was back online. He called Offset a “clown” and fake while also claiming he helped Cardi B in Los Angeles when she had alleged gang issues. Offset and Cardi not only replied that he was lying, but Wack 100 stepped in. He agreed with Cardi, saying it was Wack and Big U who came to her aid.

Meanwhile, people have weighed in heavily about the controversy. The Breakfast Club replayed some of Prince’s audio insults to Offset and weren’t happy. “I think it’s all wack. And I got so much respect for J. Prince because of what he built with Rap-A-Lot, but please keep the OG off IG,” said Charlamagne. “That voice message on IG, the things he said about Offset on Million Dollaz Worth of Game… It’s not what I expect an OG like J. Prince to be doin’.”

“That’s the type of stuff that’s getting these young boys locked up,” Charlamagne continued. “So why would you spend your whole life ducking the long arm of the law, only to put a spotlight on yourself. And be online, basically threatening somebody.” He added that the entire MDWOG interview was great, but DJ Envy said it was “too much talk.”

“The brother died and police are still doing an investigation at this point,” added Envy. “And if there was problems—and I’m sure Offset is hurt, and he’s traumatized, and he’s emotional. He’s feeling a way and I know J. Prince and Mob Ties are trying to make sure they protect themselves. They’re explaining to people that it wasn’t on their watch. I get it. Everybody wants to clear their names, but it’s still a police investigation.

Envy encouraged everyone to speak on the phone and not take these sorts of grievances to social media. “It does nothing but take it to another level. And I don’t want to see another brother get hurt. Another brother get shot, another brother get killed.” Check out the conversation above.

Kodak Black Reacts After Charlamagne Tha God Calls Him The GOAT

Kodak Black expressed joy after Charlamagne Tha God gave him his flowers.

During a recent episode of Brilliant Episodes, Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz discussed the legacy of Kodak Black. During the discussion, Charlamagne extended immense praise for the Miami rapper, comparing him to Kendrick Lamar. People undoubtedly felt a way about the comparison but Charlamagne broke down his perspective.

“Kodak is the GOAT,” Charlamagne explained. “I was watching that video and I was thinking to myself like, ‘Man, do people realize how dope Kodak Black is, yo? Not just as a personality, but as a rapper, as an artist. You know these true hip-hop heads will be like ‘Ah, man, you’re talking about Kodak Black…’

He added that he felt Kendrick Lamar and Kodak Black provided similar perspectives, even though they’re from different places.

“I look at Kodak Black the same way I look at Kendrick Lamar,” he added. “I’m not even joking. I feel like they’re both two different levels of prolific. They’re telling similar stories, just from different places. They’re just two different versions of the same kid from the hood.”

The clip quickly became viral, quickly catching the attention of Yak. The rapper slid into the comment section of Akademiks’ post, expressing gratitude for the recognition.

“APPRECIATE EVERYBODY,” he wrote along with a smiley face. “MEANS SOOOO MUCH TO ME.”

Last year, Kodak Black heavily appeared on Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. In addition to delivering a verse on “Silent Hill,” his voice is heard on “Worldwide Steppers,” “Rich (Interlude),” and “Mirror.”

Charlamagne The God Sued Over Alleged 2001 Sexual Assault: Report

He has long denied these allegations, but Charlamagne Tha God is confronted with accusations of rape once again. The famed Breakfast Club host, real name Lenard McKelvey, faces a new federal lawsuit issued by the woman who claims she was a minor when she became his alleged victim.

It was in 2001 when Jessica Reid accused Charlamagne of “willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously [engaging] in penile/vaginal intercourse with a fifteen-year-old female child.” RadarOnline reports they have taken a look at Reid’s lawsuit.

The outlet states that in 2001, Charlamagne faced a “charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 2nd degree.”

It was reportedly Reid’s mother who alerted the authorities of an alleged rape. The teen was said to have been intoxicated and “crying uncontrollably” when she spoke with police. In Reid’s new lawsuit, she details meeting a then-22-year-old Charlamagne through a mutual friend. Then, she attended a birthday party in June 2001, where she claimed she immediately became “uncomfortable.”

Charlamagne allegedly gave her a drink, and soon after, she felt dizzy and fell. Reid stated it felt as if her legs gave out. She insists he laughed when she collapsed and told his friends to “take her ass upstairs.” She says she was assaulted by two men. Further, she alleged, Charlamagne took her to another room and raped her.

“Ms. Reid recalls the ambulance ride vividly, as she was still in shock, hyperventilating, and felt safe,” the suit read.

A report in 2018 stated McKelvey’s DNA wasn’t found in Reid’s rape kit. Additionally, she didn’t cooperate with the investigation. Reid says her mother told her not to press charges. Now, she claims Charlamagne insulted her by referring to her as a “groupie” who “lied.”

“Ms. Red has tried to get justice, but to no avail. And to make matters worse, everyone that Ms. Reid reached out to, including iHeartRadio, ignored her and still allowed Charlamagne to speak on their platform,” her lawsuit reads.

“Every time Ms. Reid turns on the radio and hears his voice, sees him on TV, and walks past his books in the stores, she is reminded of what Charlamagne did to her.”

Charlamagne’s attorney Michael Weinsten issued a statement to RadarOnline.

“We are confident that Ms. Reid’s meritless civil lawsuit in which she represents herself will be promptly dismissed. This is the same sexual assault claim that was fully investigated and dismissed by authorities in South Carolina more than 21 years ago.”

“At that time, my client voluntarily submitted his DNA, and it was confirmed his DNA was not found in her rape kit. It is also the same matter that Ms. Reid tried to re-open in 2018 that the South Carolina Solicitor General declined to re-open, suggesting among other things it was ‘not ethical’ to do so.”

Reid is suing for unspecified damages.

Charlamagne Tha God Calls Drake's New Engagement Ring Chain 'Maniac Behavior' During 'Hell of a Week' Show

Drake has a new chain that serves a purpose: commemorating every ex in his life. Hearing the news, Charlamagne Tha God reacted during his Hell of a Week show on Comedy Central.

“First of all, this is maniac behavior,” Drake said. “Just when I started beige brothers, the benefit of the doubt. This is the most waffle-colored negro thing anyone has every done in the history of waffle-colored negroes.”

Charlamagne continued while sliding in a slight jab at LeBron James and Jennifer Lopez.

“Drake, you have to let that hurt go. You have more almost rings than LeBron James. Most of us, unless your JLo, have one, maybe two people we want to get married to in our lifetime.”

You can hear it below.

Jewelry designer Alex Moss teamed with The Boy for a new chain called “Previous Engagements,” highlighting “all the times he thought about it but never did it.”

The necklace is made up of stones that would be in 42 engagement rings and is a total of 351.38 carats in diamonds.

Who would be on that list of engagements? A stacked list of Serena Williams, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, SZA, Keshia Chante, Bria Myles, Bernice Burgos, and more.

DJ Akademiks Accuses Ebro Of Blackballing DaBaby

DJ Akademiks has made headlines all month long for offending nearly every generation of Hip Hop. After getting blasted by the likes of LL Cool J, Russell Simmons and Michael Rappaport for claiming that pioneers of the genre were “dusty” and bad with money, the Youtuber stopped by the Power 105.1’s the Breakfast Club to clarify his statements while issuing the vets an apology.

He even atoned for his remarks against Lil Wayne’s daughter Reginae after being called out by her mom, Toya Wright, and “Uncle” T.I. for seemingly referring to her as a b****. “If she’s taking it in that sense offensively, I do apologize,” Ak stated. Despite his apology tour, the 31-year old media personality is still standing on his remarks about Hot 97 host Ebro. Last week, Akademiks called the radio host out for trying to “politic me out the game” while accusing the morning show host of blackballing certain artists

Ebro Darden

On Wednesday (September 28), Ak doubled down on his claims, suggesting that Ebro blackballed DaBaby and is “using Apple Music as a weapon for ur personal issues.” “Da Baby last project in 2020 ‘Blame it on Baby’ sold 124K first week,” the Off The Record podcast host tweeted. “His new project after being blackballed by Ebro, Apple Music is scheduled to do less than 20K. Now yall understand my Ebro convo. DSPs control who is hot and who is not. Fall out of favor with them.. UR DONE”

While Ebro has yet to address DaBaby claims, he did call out Akadmiks for his “dusty” comments earlier this week, tweeting, “You’re drunk. I told people I had jobs for you. You’d rather be drunk and disrespectful to women and align with scumbags. Do you boo boo!”
