Cardi B Had A Few Choice Words About The Microphone-Tossing Incident And The Person Involved

Cardi B has finally addressed her microphone-tossing incident. Today (September 8), during an appearance on Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club, the “Bongos” rapper shared a few choice words about the incident while performing at Drai’s Beachclub, dating back to July 29.

When host Charlamagne Tha God asked outright if she regretted throwing the object at an onlooker, she hesitated. After taking a few seconds to gather her thoughts, she said, “It was really like [just] a quick reaction.”

She continued, “And let me tell you… I didn’t want to address it because a b*tch thought I was going to go to jail. But I’m not,” referring to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s decision not to pursue the battery charges initially filed.

Cardi then went on to tell the story from her perspective: “It was hot as f*ck! That Vegas hear ain’t no joke. It was hotter than a motherf*cker. So, there was a part of the show where I told people to splash me [with water]. But even when I told them to splash me, I told them to be careful with the face… Four songs later, which was 15 or 20 minutes later, this b*tch threw water and ice on my face. So I just automatically reacted.”

“When I looked back at the video [clips], I see that she intentionally threw that sh*t in my face… I felt very violated.” Cardi then turned her attention to the concertgoer, “You were trying to be funny, but b*tch, I’m hilarious.”

The microphone from the show was later auctioned off, raising almost $100,000 for charity.

Cardi B Keeps Her Cool When Charlamagne Suggests Her Sophomore Album Is Unneccesary: Watch

The Breakfast Club has been on the air for a long time, and over the years, we’ve seen some of the hosts and their celebrity guests come to blows while listeners tune in. Natalie Nunn recently put Charlamagne Tha God on blast for reasons unbeknownst to him, and Chloe Bailey didn’t hold back this spring when she called DJ Envy out for not listening to her In Pieces album before their interview. The Charleston-born media personality found himself nearly feuding with their latest visitor, Cardi B, this week, though the rap diva managed to keep her cool as Charlamagne pressed her about her sophomore LP.

“I’m back outside,” the New York native happily sang during her appearance on TBC. “You’ve got an album dropping next year?” Tha God asked Bardi. “Yes,” she confirmed. “What quarter?” he inquired, earning a laugh from others in the room. “I’m really looking for first quarter,” she admitted. “How you gonna narrow it down? How many records you think you got?” the journalist’s questions continued to roll out. “I wanna narrow it down to at least like 18,” Cardi reflected.

Charlamagne Tha God Expresses His Doubts

The skepticism in Charlamagne’s voice is obvious as he asks the Hustlers actress, “Are you there? Are you close?” Rather than letting her signature attitude shine through, Cardi kept her energy sweet and soft before Jess Hilarious spoke up to check her friend. “Shut up,” she told the podcaster.

“You don’t have to drop the second album, though,” Tha God insisted. “You don’t have to put out an album,” he told the “WAP” artist in the studio today. “But I have it!” she insisted. “I believe she got a bunch of songs,” the 45-year-old speculated, though he doesn’t seem sold that Cardi will be able to combine her work into a full project.

Cardi B’s Full Interview on The Breakfast Club

Cardi B had plenty to discuss with Jess Hilarious and her co-hosts on The Breakfast Club this week. Besides spilling some tea on her sophomore LP, she also discussed her recent microphone-throwing incident, her “Bongos” collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, and being a wife to Offset and mother to their two children. Natalie Nunn’s “The Breakfast Club” Interview Was Never Scheduled, Charlamagne Says

The women of reality TV can’t seem to stay out of the headlines this summer. Love & Hip-Hop cast members like Erica Mena and Tommie Lee have been causing a stir online with their recent arrests. Elsewhere, Natalie Nunn is once again going viral after being name-dropped by Nicki Minaj a few months back. This time around, the socialite has our attention for a dramatic Instagram Live rant aimed at Charlamagne. She claims that The Breakfast Club “cancelled” her interview with them while specifically lashing out at the host.

During the morning show, Tha God and his co-hosts, DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious, spoke about the situation. “Y’all know stuff like that don’t phase me,” the podcaster said of Nunn’s hateful comments aimed toward him. “Natalie Nunn is more than welcome to come to ‘The Breakfast Club,’” Charlamagne added. He also made it clear that he hadn’t heard about any interviews being cancelled.

Charlamagne Calls Cap on Natalie Nunn

Upon further discussion, it was revealed that the 38-year-old’s team reached out to TBC the day before they got into town requesting a slot on the show. Unfortunately, they weren’t taking guests due to DJ Envy’s birthday celebration. This proves that Nunn wasn’t cancelled seeing as she never landed on the schedule in the first place. As Hilarious points out in the video above, it’s possible the Zeus network misconstrued the situation to their star in hopes of stirring up some drama to increase the ratings on their controversial and at times toxic shows.

On the topic of The Breakfast Club, we recently put together a round-up of what we consider to be the radio show’s best-ever interviews. Among those on our list are R&B crooner Ray J and the rapper with the most firsts under his belt, Soulja Boy. See who else made the cut at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Charlamagne on Jermaine Dupri’s Calling Out of Brand Not Celebrating Hip-Hop 50 in ATL: ‘JD Could Have Done Something Himself’

Charlamagne Tha God

Recently, events celebrating Hip-Hop 50 have occurred across the city, but a major one went down at Yankees Stadium. Following the run of events occurring directly in the birth week, Jermaine Dupri wondered why no one held an event in Atlanta, prompting a reply from Charlamagne Tha God.

“Just for the record!” Dupri tweeted. “No brands have done any dinners or get togethers in Atlanta celebrating the 50 anniversary of HipHop That’s Crazy!!!”

In a second message, he wrote, “I see someone is trying to take my tweet and create the narrative that I’m mad about what’s been happening in NY for #Hiphop50 compared to what’s been happening in Atlanta, lol that’s completely flase, My statement was all business related.”

It still brought out a response from Charla who said during The Breakfast Club, “Why can’t Jermaine Dupri do it? JD is big enough to do it. JD could have done something himself if he thought Hip-Hop wasn’t being represented right coming out of the ATL.”

Hear it from Charlamagne below.

Charlamagne And DJ Envy React To Tory Lanez Sentencing

The trial that everyone in the rap world has been talking about for years finally came to a close yesterday. Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot all the way back in 2020. Fans online had generated substantial support for Tory despite evidence pointing towards his guilt. In December of last year, he was officially found guilty and given a date for his sentencing hearing. That sentencing unfolded on Tuesday of this week and reactions are still flowing in.

On a new Breakfast Club released this morning Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy gave their immediate reactions to the verdict. “For everybody who keeps saying they don’t believe Tory did this, he said in court yesterday. He apologized for his actions and took full responsibility for the shooting,” Charlamagne begins. He continued to lambast fans who were susceptible to misinformation online. “If you get your information from the internet, from the narrative created online, you’re gonna be misinformed all the time.” DJ Envy agrees. “Most people don’t read. They gonna go through the headlines and see what the headlines are.”

More Reactions To The Tory Lanez Verdict

Charlamagne continued. “I just will never understand why Tory was doing what he was doing on social media. Like I will never understand why he tried to try this case in the court of public opinion,” he explained. Both hosts seem to come to the same confused conclusion. They agree that Tory didn’t do himself any favors by attacking Megan online. At the conclusion of the segment they make suggestions that those who get to express opinions on something like this case should have to be informed in order to do it.

While many reacted to the supposed severity of the sentence, Boosie Badazz had a different take. He claimed that Tory actually got off easier because he was in California and if he had been elsewhere he could have done closer to 40 years. What do you think of Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy’s reaction to the Tory Lanez verdict? Let us know in the comment section below.

Charlamagne Tha God Labels Usher The Villain In Keke Palmer Drama

Charlamagne Tha God says that Usher is the bad guy in the recent drama regarding Keke Palmer’s trip to Las Vegas to see the singer perform. The actress attended one of Usher’s shows over the weekend while wearing a see-through dress. Her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, complained about her attire on social media afterward.

“The man walks around the residency scouting on a straight search and destroy mission, looking for women to find so he can pull them out of the crowd, serenade them and destroy their household,” Charlamagne said on his show, Monday morning.

Charlamagne continued: “We ain’t seen him serenade a single lady yet. All Usher gotta do is say ‘Where the single ladies at?’ And you can go serenade them. That man purposely serenaded Keke Palmer. That man purposely serenaded Saweetie knowing she out here with YG now. Winnie Harlow had to sit on her man lap to protect herself from that Goddamn menace, Usher Raymond IV.”

As for how he’d behave at one of Usher’s shows, Charlagne added: “I’m telling you right now, when me and my wife go see Usher, I dare Usher to try and come serenade my wife. Because he gonna be serenading the both of us. I’ma tell her grab the right hand. I’ma grab the left hand, and we both gonna be Usher’s boo when he’s singing ‘My Boo.’”

Charlamagne Tha God Compares Cardi B To Jay-Z & Drake

Charlamagne Tha God feels like Cardi B’s using the blueprints of Jay-Z and Drake during her recent feature run. Although fans have been waiting on the follow-up to Invasion of Privacy, Cardi hasn’t necessarily delivered a single or a timeline of when we could expect her album. Perhaps, we won’t see it in 2023 but she’s held it down so far with a number of solid verses alongside up-and-coming women in hip-hop who are delivering the hottest music out.

Last year, Cardi B joined GloRilla on “Tomorrow 2,” which helped the song become one of the biggest records of the year. Then, the Bronx rapper extended her talents to Latto’s “Put It On The Floor Again,” a song that seems to already have summer 2023 in a chokehold. This Friday, Cardi will join buzzing MC Fendi The Rapper on “Point Me To The Sl**s (Remix).” According to Charlamagne Tha God, Cardi B’s employing a tactic that we’ve seen both Drake and Jay-Z use in the past.

Charlamagne Compares Cardi B Feature Run To Jay-Z & Drake

During a recent episode of Its Up There podcast, Charlamagne Tha God and Big Loon discussed the era of women in hip-hop who are dominating the genre. However, Charlamagne gave Cardi B credit, specifically, for opening the gates for this new chapter in the culture. “Cardi shifted that in the culture,” he explained. “Cardi made it to where you’re the OG, you’re the person who made all the money, you sold all the records but you have no problem putting your arm around that next person.”

Charlamagne added, “Cardi did for female rap what Jay-Z and Drake did, you know what I mean?” The Breakfast Club co-host explained that Jay-Z would hop on buzzing records and catapult it to the top. He cited records like Juvenile’s “Ha! (Remix)” and other records from the South. Meanwhile, Charlamagne Tha God said Drake similarly used his platform to help introduce new artists. “What Drake did was make the record big. I think what Jay did with those co-signs is make the artist big,” he said, “I think Cardi’s doing both. I think Cardi’s helping to make the artist big and she’s helping to make the music big.” Check out the full clip above.

Diddy’s Diageo Lawsuit Called Into Question by Charlamagne Tha God

Earlier this week, massive spirits company Diageo publicly ended its affiliation with rapper and mogul Diddy. That came after Diddy filed a lawsuit against the company alleging the company of racist dealings with its various partners. It claims that the company poured all its resources into Clooney’s Casamigos brand after acquiring it in 2017. It also claims that the company marketed Diddy’s own DeLeon tequila as “urban” and “black.” Diageo responded by calling the lawsuit a “sham” and dropping Diddy from their brand.

Now many are reacting to the legal proceedings, including Charlamagne Tha God. According to HipHopDx, During a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, he asked for some clarification on the lawsuit. “Diddy worked for this company for 15 years, right? Made a billion dollars, literally, but then turns around and sues the company for racism. There had to be a better basis to the lawsuit than just racism right?” the host said. He continued with even stronger objections. “I just wonder, ’cause you have so much success with that company with Ciroc for 15 years and it doesn’t seem like you’ve been able to duplicate that success with DeLeón thus far, but is that a reason to burn a bridge with a company that has helped you make a billion dollars?” While he insists that he’s only asking questions his skepticism is clear.

Charlamagne Tha God Isn’t Sure About Diddy’s Suit

The news surrounding Diddy hasn’t been all bad recently. Earlier this month Diddy received an Icon Award from the Apollo Theater. He also posted an emotional and touching Father’s Day message for his late father.

Earlier this year, Diddy teamed up with Fabolous and City Girls on a new single called “Act Bad.” The song imagines itself as not just a track but an anthem similar to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer.” In the wake of the song many fans on Twitter posted ways that Diddy had “acted bad” in the past which caused him to trend for all the wrong reasons. What do you think of Charlamagne’s comments about Diddy’s lawsuit? Let us know in the comment section below.

Charlamagne Tha God Says He’s Not Sure Jim Jones’ Response To Pusha T Was Enough

Charlamagne says that he’s not confident Jim Jones’ recent response to Pusha T will be enough. The Dipset rapper released a track dissing Pusha on Saturday night. In the lyrics, he targets Pusha’s fashion sense, his relevancy in hip-hop, and his Clipse partner, No Malice. Charlamagne spoke about the effort on The Breakfast Club, Monday morning.

“I don’t think that’s enough,” he said. “I think if you shoot at Pusha, you just gotta go ahead and drop the nuke. You can’t just shoot. You just gotta go ahead and drop the nuke now. That’s what Pusha’s gonna do, if Pusha replies. If we’re looking at the way Pusha has replied before, Pusha gonna drop a nuke off top.”

Charlamagne continued: “So, I like what Jim did. I just don’t know if that’s enough. If you’re gonna engage, you gotta go-go. You can’t fire any warning shots. And I like what Jim did, but you gotta go for the head. I don’t know if he went for the head.”

When Envy began to suggest that Jones could have more in the tank, Charlamagne interject: “When you say ‘not yet’ with Pusha– you can’t say ‘not yet’ with Pusha. You either aim for the head or you do nothing.”

The feud between Jim Jones and Pusha T began back in April when Jones remarked that Pusha isn’t one of the 50 best rappers in hip-hop. The comment clearly stuck with Pusha, who responded by dissing Jones in a new Clipse track debuted at Pharrell’s first Louis Vuitton show, last week. Be on the lookout for a further response from Pusha in the coming days.

Bobby Shmurda Should Cool It With The Rap Criticisms, Charlamagne Tha God Says

Charlamagne Tha God has expressed his disagreement with Bobby Shmurda’s criticism of rap music. He says that Shmurda should not undermine the genre because he owes his fame and recognition to it. Charlamagne discussed the topic on The Breakfast Club‘s segment, “The Rumor Report,.” He went on to kindly acknowledge Shmurda’s energy and personality. However, he pointed out that the public hasn’t been receptive to his new music since his release from prison.

Charlamagne also emphasized that the culture may not be so keen on the new attitude. While he realizes that Bobby Shmurda has avoided being a snitch and is now creating positive music, the culture doesn’t seem to appreciate or acknowledge that about him. Furthermore, he believes that rap is the reason why people know Shmurda. He highlighted that, because of this, Shmurda’s criticisms of the genre may not resonate well with the audience.

The Origin Of Bobby Shmurda’s Opinion On Rap

The conversation about Bobby Shmurda’s disdain for rap music began when he appeared on The Danza Project podcast. There, he advised children to stay away from hip-hop because he sees it as dangerous. Shmurda expressed concern that kids might take the lifestyles portrayed in rap lyrics as reality. However, he says the rappers themselves may not have even experienced those circumstances. He believes rap music should uplift people and encourage positive change. Now, however, he believes it promotes negativity. As a result of this, Bobby Shmurda shared that he no longer enjoys rap music. Apparently, he only listens to it when he’s at the club.

Shmurda went on to say that he prefers reggae now. He is so disconnected from the rap scene that he wouldn’t even notice if another rapper dissed him in a song. This isn’t the first time Bobby Shmurda has discussed his decision to distance himself from rap music and make a change. In March, he took to Instagram to share his journey towards self-improvement after being involved in criminal activities. He made it clear that he is determined to pursue a productive and successful future. He says he wants to make the best use of his time.
