Lil Baby Addresses Fans Saying He Fell Off With A Measured Explanation

Lil Baby says he’s not fazed by fans on the internet who have been suggesting that his career has fallen off. Speaking about the topic with Charlamagne Tha God for a new interview, Baby explained that it’s been difficult for his fans to keep up with his dramatic evolution as an artist over the years.

“I don’t even care really. I be seeing sh*t like that,” Baby said. As for his evolution as an artist, he said: “It’s like a give and take to the point where, I kinda understand it. And what I mean by that is like I never did take them with me to transition. So through a transition, I only expect certain fans to catch up to it. Sometimes you gotta like dumb it down.” He added that he’s still learning how to walk his fans through the transitions of his career so the leaps are not so drastic.

The conversation with Charlamagne comes as Baby continues to prepare for his upcoming album, WHAM (Who Hard as Me). It’s slated for release on January 3, 2025, and is expected to feature collaborations with Young Thug, Future, GloRilla, and more. It’ll be his first solo album since 2022’s It’s Only Me.

Lil Baby Addresses Accusations Of Falling Off

Lil Baby isn’t the only artist Chalarmagne has asked about having fallen off in recent days. When Cordae came on The Breakfast Club, earlier this week, Chalarmagne asked him about the low album sales of his latest project, The Crossroads. Cordae argued: “Why spend all this time focusing on one week? We gonna spend all this time focusing on one week when there is 52 weeks out of the year. You wanna just give up on an album because it didn’t have a super strong first-week?” Check out Lil Baby’s full thoughts on the state of his career below.

Charlamagne Tha God Asks Cordae If His Latest Album Was A “Flop”

Charlamagne Tha God asked Cordae if he feels his latest album, The Crossroads, was a “flop,” during the latest episode of The Breakfast Club. Cordae dropped the project on November 15 and it peaked at No. 143 on the US Billboard 200. In addressing the album, Charlamagne noted that he saw a YouTube video in which someone posited that Cordae is at a crossroads himself after his album flopped “horrendously.”

“No,” he said when asked if he felt similarly. “… It’s like some white boy in Indiana– not that it’s a race thing, but it’s like the truth of the people that run those. If you look at channels like that, their whole channel subscribes to a bunch of negativity. That’s what they’re about so you can nitpick every artist in music. You can find something negative and nitpick at where they lack in some department. But, no, because I had other albums that didn’t have a strong first week, but again, my tour ended up doing super well and then later on it grows and becomes a larger thing. Why spend all this time focusing on one week? We gonna spend all this time focusing on one week when there is 52 weeks out of the year. You wanna just give up on an album because it didn’t have a super strong first-week?”

From there, he argued that he’s being compared to artists who are at another level than him. “I think I get compared to mega-stars,” he explained. “If you compare a Cordae first-week sales to Kendrick Lamar’s first-week sales, of course, there’s a discrepancy. But when it comes to my actual peers that do the type of music that I do, It’s all a balance. It’s there. We’re all doing to same comparative numbers. Even though comparison is the thief of joy. I have no worry about what some white man says about my career.”

Cordae Addresses His Low Album Sales

It’s not the first time Cordae has spoken about the lack of popularity of his latest effort. He also stated he didn’t care about sales numbers in a rant on social media at the time of its release. Check out Cordae’s full thoughts on the success of The Crossroads below.

Andrew Schulz Labels Kendrick Lamar The “Taylor Swift” Of Hip-Hop & Claims His Team Reached Out To Charlamagne

Andrew Schulz has attempted to set the record straight about his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Speaking about the rapper during the latest episode of his The Brilliant Idiots podcast with Charlamagne Tha God, he compared him to Taylor Swift. Schulz also revealed that Lamar’s team allegedly contacted Charlemagne about the diss on his GNX track, “wacced out murals.”

“Kendrick really is the Taylor Swift of hip-hop,” Schulz began. “No matter what he does, he’s still the victim. You know how Taylor is always the victim? She’s the biggest in music in history, yet she’s a victim to the label, she’s a victim to Scooter [Braun], she’s a victim to her boyfriends. Yet, she’s still the biggest in the world. Somehow Kendrick is the victim here.” From there, he explained his interpretation of “wacced out murals” to be that Lamar was also dissing Schulz’s friends, primarily Charlamange and his other co-hosts, although Charlamagne disagreed.

After the release of “wacced out murals,” Schulz went on a fiery rant about being able to rape Lamar. Continuing to explain the timeline of events, he added: “So, Kendrick’s people reached out to you to try to clarify. They’re like, ‘Oh, we didn’t want say– we came to you and people are thinking this.’ They’re doing their little due diligence with you right? But, nobody else knows that. They think it’s you. They think it’s you. And, y’all get death threats. I’m getting death threats and they’re posting pictures of my little kid. I haven’t said anything. I’m filming my special.” He went on to then justify his wild rant by arguing that the rapper’s alleged fans on the internet already crossed a line.

Andrew Schulz Speaks On Kendrick Lamar Yet Again

In turn, Schulz suggested that the near-universal backlash to his rant was hypocritical. Check out Andrew Schulz’s latest remarks on Kendrick Lamar below.

Charlamagne Tha God Responds To DJ Akademiks Saying That He’s Showing Bias Toward Jay-Z

DJ Akademiks has been extremely vocal about Jay-Z since the moment the news broke about his bombshell allegation. The rap mogul and businessman is currently looking to dismiss it as quick as possible at the moment as him and lawyer feel this has no validity. “Due to the highly sensitive nature of this matter and the intense media scrutiny it has generated, we respectfully request to be heard on an expedited basis. For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Carter is entirely innocent. This is a shakedown,” his lawyer Alex Spiro said in a recent statement. On top of this, him and Hov are also looking for this Jane Doe to reveal her true identity going forward.

“Transparency in judicial proceedings is a fundamental principle,” Spiro said. “The plaintiff has failed to demonstrate any compelling reason to depart from this rule.” This is all still extremely fresh, so how long this plays out will be interesting to follow. Still though, Akademiks has not been too happy with how a lot of publications and other hip-hop media have been handling the news. The way he’s making it seem is that Jay-Z needs to be talked about in a more damning way.

Charlamagne Tha God Dismisses DJ Akademiks

It’s worth noting that Akademiks doesn’t particularly have lot of nice things to say about Roc Nation. He’s been highly critical and skeptical of their moves, especially during the Tory Lanez shooting. We say that because it’s possible that he wouldn’t mind seeing them (and in part Jay-Z) take hit following these allegations. Overall, he may have some bias too, even though he’s accusing others like Charlamagne Tha God and The Breakfast Club for showing it.

He felt that Charlamagne Tha God and the rest of the panel would be ripping Drake apart if he were Jay-Z’s shoes. However, he couldn’t disagree more. Charlamagne more so has an issue with lawyers trying to force and threaten those accused of paying a large sum of money or else. But he still isn’t buying the claims whatsoever, especially with the accuser remaining anonymous at the moment. Toward the end of the segment, Charlamagne also added that if there were clear-cut evidence proving that Jay-Z isn’t actually innocent (using Diddy beating Cassie as an example), then he would change his mind. For now though, he’s sticking by his opinion, regardless of what anyone has to say about it.

Charlamagne Tha God Explains Why Allegations Against Jay-Z Are “Complete Foolishness”

Charlamagne Tha God responded to the lawsuit filed against Jay-Z and Diddy during Monday morning’s episode of The Breakfast Club, arguing that the alleged victim is likely looking for a paycheck. The woman, identified as “Jane Doe,” accused the two music industry veterans of allegedly raping her at an afterparty for the 2000 MTV VMAs when she was just 13 years old.

“What you hear is this, right? You hear the initial accusation but you don’t ever see when the case gets dropped,” Charlamagne said. “You don’t see when the case actually gets dismissed. I’m telling you, all of this stuff is a grift. It’s complete foolishness. They do this all the time. They’ll have the lawyer reach out to your team and they’ll tell your team, ‘We’re gonna do a press conference. We’re gonna have interviews if you don’t settle with us.’ Most people settle. You’d be surprised how many people do settle.”

Jay ended up responding to the lawsuit and attorney Tony Buzbee quickly on social media, claiming to not be afraid of litigation. “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” his statement reads in part. “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!” He concluded: “Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable. I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”

Charlamagne Tha God Speaks On Lawsuit Against Jay-Z

Several voices on social media have spoken out in Jay’s defense, including Meek Mill, Peter Rosenberg, and more. Check out Charlamagne Tha God’s full take on the allegations below.

Charlamagne Tha God Claims Telling Drake To Follow J. Cole’s Blueprint After Kendrick Lamar Battle

J. Cole’s new Inevitable audio series has revealed many behind-the-scenes secrets of the former Jay-Z protege’s journey to superstardom. One of the biggest reveals by Cole World was Jay-Z asking rival Drake to give the 2014 Forest Hills Drive creator a hit back in the day. Jigga doesn’t appear to be the only person who shares advice similar to that of J. Cole. In the latest episode of The Brilliant Idiots podcast, Charlamagne Tha God claims he told Drake to follow J. Cole’s blueprint following the success of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

Talking to Andrew Schulz, C Tha God shared that he told Drake to take a vacation and then a different approach with his music after Kendrick Lamar took over the industry. “What I told Drake to do after ‘Not Like Us’ since you didn’t want to engage,” said Charlamagne. “Disappear. Go to Turks and Caicos. Live your life for a little while and let nostalgia bring you back.” He continued with a comparison to J. Cole. He added: “He [Drake] tried to do it when he dropped that ‘100GB’ sh*t, right? But he didn’t do it in a packaged way like Cole did.”

Charlemagne Tha God Says He Told Drake To Go To Turks & Follow J. Cole’s Hit-Making Blueprint.

Drake has been recognized by Spotify as the most streamed artist of 2024; however, many have reported that the artist’s popularity has halted since the overwhelming success of Kendrick Lamar’s diss tracks during their rap battle. Last month, Drake told fans he was “unfazed” by the battle as a livestream guest on popular streamer xQc’s platform. Apparently directed by Lamar, Drake said, “I’m here, as you can see, fully intact. Mind, body, and soul. In case you are wondering, right? You need facts to take me out. Fairy tales won’t do it..” While Lamar performance the coveted Super Bowl Halftime Show this February, Drake will be overseas on the newly announced Anita Max Win Tour

As fans patiently await J. Cole’s presumed final album, The Falloff. With the release of The Come Up, his first mixtape, and the 10th anniversary of 2014 Forest Hills Drive, he has provided fans with nostalgia. Cole’s upcoming Madison Square Garden tribute concert secured a second date after the first sold out in a matter of minutes last week. The show takes fans back to the artist’s popular Dollar And A Dream days when concertgoers were offered the opportunity to see a full show for only a dollar.

Andrew Schulz & Charlamagne Tha God Address Kendrick Lamar Backlash

We did not expect an Andrew Schulz and Kendrick Lamar conflict in 2024, but here we are. The former and his Brilliant Idiots podcast cohost Charlamagne Tha God addressed the backlash to Schulz’s jokes about K.Dot after he was supposedly dissed on GNX‘s opener, “wacced out murals.” Specifically, the commentary duo had two main points that they seemed to focus on: Kendrick’s work with the South Park creators for an upcoming movie and how the Compton lyricist’s bars could’ve applied to a whole host of white comedians. But as for their actual responses to criticisms of Schulz’s jokes, they didn’t really have much to say.

However, they did just make a lot of jokes about the situation as a whole that made it very clear that Andrew Schulz wasn’t taking this too seriously. In Charlamagne Tha God’s case, he was more focused on his failure to understand why so many people thought Kendrick Lamar’s bars were specifically about Schulz. At the end of the day, it seems like they just wanted to have fun with the whole debacle and scapegoat themselves rather than justify or double down on interpretations of disrespect.

Andrew Schulz Talks About Kendrick Lamar Drama With Charlamagne Tha God

Still, we doubt that Andrew Schulz will completely quiet down about all this, as he clapped back at various critics of his Kendrick Lamar comments. The big part that people took issue with was how he joked that Kendrick could not do much to defend himself if Schulz tried to get intimate with him. But this Brilliant Idiots clip kind of shows that they’re just in it for the comedy and to offer a more light perspective. So maybe the search for more earnest and validating responses is too much to ask.

All this doesn’t mean that all this backlash isn’t valid, though, especially if it’s more critical of humor than of intent or content. At the same time, Andrew Schulz is well within his right to makes jokes to Charlamagne Tha God and others about Kendrick Lamar, whether they bomb or not. Hopefully this redirection towards self-ridicule and pure humor can also come with an acknowledgement of certain oversteps.

DJ Akademiks Thinks Ebro & Peter Rosenberg Are Jealous Of Andrew Schulz & Charlamagne Tha God

Andrew Schulz’s recent comments about Kendrick Lamar have lit a firestorm under hip-hop media, and the takes are as diverse and combative as you’d expect. Let’s set the stage: it all started with some K.Dot bars on “wacced out murals,” his new album GNX‘s intro. “Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that’s law,” he spits on the cut. Many folks assumed this was about Schulz and his recently viral jokes on Black women, and the comedian himself also thought so. He joked about sexually assaulting Kendrick in response and called him out for perceived hypocrisy. This caused a huge debate among media figures, something that DJ Akademiks is now scrutinizing.

Moreover, Ak specifically reacted to a couple of takes on his livestream, including Peter Rosenberg’s claim that Charlamagne Tha God (Andrew Schulz’s Brilliant Idiots podcast cohost) is giving Schulz a pass to talk smack about Kendrick Lamar. However, DJ Akademiks interpreted that Rosenberg – as well as Ebro – are jealous of Charlamagne and Schulz. He brought up their radio rivalry and their differing levels of extracurricular success as reasons for this alleged disdain.

DJ Akademiks Calls Ebro & Peter Rosenberg “Salty” For Trashing Andrew Schulz’s Kendrick Lamar Comments

“Kendrick calls out schulz for running down black women…” Peter Rosenberg had tweeted about the Andrew Schulz and Kendrick Lamar situation. “more specifically the dudes who let it happen unchecked … schulz responds by saying ‘oh cuz rappers are so pro women’ .. Schulz is no different than Bill Oreilly.. acting like K dot is 2 live crew.. it is a nonsensical response and shows schulz doesnt actually like or understand hip hop… please hear me…not all white guys are built the same..for some of us black culture is not wacky fodder or a means to an end.”

Meanwhile, DJ Akademiks also thinks that there’s a double standard at play here, arguing so via his own beef with Saucy Santana. Ak thinks that the same people who laughed at Saucy’s attacks against him are the same ones criticizing Andrew Schulz for his Kendrick Lamar jokes, which he characterized as a sign of hypocrisy. Nevertheless, as with all things in the Internet discourse, it’s not quite that simple.

Charlamagne Tha God Theorizes Drake Will Have Government Intervene In Kendrick Lamar’s Toronto Show

Charlamagne Tha God says Kendrick Lamar is making a mistake by traveling to Toronto, Canada, on his upcoming tour with SZA. He explained why he thinks Drake will use his contacts in local government to make trouble for the Los Angeles rapper during the latest episode of The Breakfast Club.

“I don’t think I would make that stop– not because of no street stuff either,” Charlamagne began. “When you look at how petty Aubrey Graham is, who just filed a petition against UMG because of ‘Not Like Us,’ we know how connected Drake is in Toronto as far as with government officials and who else. They might just make life difficult for Kendrick on that level. Forget the street stuff. I’m talking about being detained. You can’t even trust people at the airport. Who can you really trust in Toronto?”

Charlamagne Tha God Explains Why Kendrick Lamar Would Beat Lil Wayne In Possible Battle

Charlamagne Tha God says he’d pick Kendrick Lamar to beat Lil Wayne if the two start officially feuding. He discussed the idea on a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, after Lamar referenced Wayne by name on his new album, GNX.

“And the reason he don’t want no problem with Kendrick right now is because emotionally, mentally and spiritually, Lil Wayne is not on the level to get at Kendrick, ‘cause Kendrick would break down Lil Wayne’s whole life in a very therapeutic way [laughs]. It’s not even gonna be a diss; it’s gonna be out of love. He’s gonna break down how Wayne ushered in the era of the fiends — ’cause he did. He’s gonna talk about a lot of Wayne’s trauma’s. How Wayne’s only got three dreadlocks. It would be a lot of pressure coming from Kendrick.”

As for GNX, Lamar references Wayne on the track “wacced out murals.” “Used to bump ‘Tha Carter 3,’ I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down / Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable/ Turn me to an Eskimo, I drew the line and decimals,” he raps. “… Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me/ All these n****s agitated, I’m just glad they showed they faces.” Wayne had complained about the NFL selecting Lamar over him for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on several occasions.
