Burna Boy Delivers A Jazzy Performance Of ‘Last Last’ On ‘Fallon’

Burna Boy‘s hit single “Last Last” proved to be one of the buzziest songs of the past summer. Since its release, the song has reached the top of Billboard‘s Afrobeats Songs chart and has pulled in over and its video has pulled in over 75 million streams on YouTube.

Last night, Burna visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he performed the song accompanied by live instrumentalists. Throughout the performance, Burna’s vocals maintain the song’s Afrobeats roots, while the keyboardists, drummers, and saxophonists give the song a jazzy feel.

Burna Boy is often credited for helping popularize Afrobeats music in the United States. He’s accomplished several incredible feats, including selling out Madison Square Garden. While he dreams of playing many more iconic venues in his career, he revealed to Billboard that he also has several unconventional ideas for music performances.

“My dream venues, other than all the stadiums in the world, are unorthodox,” Burna said, “like a theme park or a f*cking train station. A concert in a big-ass train station, and there’s no trains, and the whole tracks are filled with people. I just want to do weird sh*t like that for my own pleasure.”

Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido and More Announced as Headliners for Lost in Riddim Festival

Lost In Riddim 2022 Music Lineup 1

The renowned R&B/hip-hop/soul music festival Sol Blume’s organizers have announced their afrobeats music festival, Lost In Riddim, which will take place this fall on October 1-2.

Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, three of Nigeria’s top performers, will coheadline the event with other international performers like Ella Mai, Skepta, Kizz Daniel, Sean Paul, Tems, and others in honor of Nigerian Independence Day Weekend the exact same weekend.

The festival is moving to Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose, California, just southwest of its previous home in Sacramento after a successful first event last fall. The outdoor festival will have a significantly wider footprint, two main stages with non-overlapping performances for audiences, a third, much smaller tent stage, and all-day DJ sets.

This year’s festivities will be more accessible to attendees than ever thanks to the new venue in San Jose, which also provides more activations, immersive art, vendors, and space for dancing with other music lovers inside the festival, as well as more transportation and lodging options for out-of-town visitors.

“As proud children of immigrant parents, we created Lost In Riddim because we wanted to offer a festival experience more authentic to ourselves and our culture. Something that speaks to us not only as music fans, but who we are as people,” said Fornati Kumeh, festival co-founder and talent buyer. “With a new and larger location, not to mention this incredible lineup of international artists locked in to perform, I’m expecting this to be a weekend for the record books. We really hope fans worldwide will come show out at Lost In Riddim this October.”

The festival, like its predecessor, will also feature popular forms of African, Caribbean, and Black American music, such as reggae, dancehall, afro-fusion, hip-hop, R&B, and others. International superstars like Ella Mai and Skepta, both from the United Kingdom, are notable performers outside of the afrobeats genre. A number of Jamaican artists, such Sean Paul and Koffee, have also been added to the lineup, along with hip-hop artists like the Grammy Award-winning rapper Wale, who is from Washington, D.C.

Burna Boy Details The Vibrant Life Of A Superstar Through His Eyes In The Video For ‘Vanilla’

Burna Boy took another step forward in his quest toward worldwide dominance with the release of his sixth album Love, Damini. The project arrived on Friday with 19 songs and contributions from acts all around the globe. They include American acts Kehlani, Blxst, and Khalid, Colombia’s J Balvin, British artists J Hus and Ed Sheeran, fellow Nigerian Victony, Jamaican singer Popcaan, and more. The project seems to be received well a few days after its release, but to keep up the promotion, Burna returns with a new treat in the form of a new video for “Vanilla.’

The record is a warm release that is placed toward the end of Love, Damini. In the new visual, Burna delivers a vibrant and exciting look at his superstar life through his own eyes thanks to the use of Ray-Ban Stories sunglasses. Throughout the video, we’re introduced to dancers, instrumentalists, chess players, a group of Burna fans, and more.

The video for “Vanilla” arrives after Burna dropped a romantic “For My Hand” visual with Ed Sheeran. It joins previously released videos “Kilometre” and the summer hit “Last Last.”
