It’s been an undoubtedly hectic few months for Lizzo, but it looks like these days, she’s doing better than ever. Over the weekend, the “Good As Hell” performer has been keeping her social media followers updated on her trip to Bali, which she’s enjoying alongside her good friend SZA. In one clip, shared on Instagram earlier today, she stands in the rain while looking over a balcony, surrounded by greenery. “I’m taking a gap year & protecting my peace [prayer emoji],” she captioned the post.

Fans certainly can’t blame Lizzo for wanting to take some time to relax. It’s far from the only thing she’s done for herself as of late, however. Earlier this month, the hitmaker took to Instagram to share a clip of herself working out at the gym, both before and after nailing a consistent routine.

Lizzo Hones In On Healing

The before and after video quickly went viral, as fans praised Lizzo for her determination. While it’s unclear exactly what Lizzo means by a gap year in this case, supporters are glad to see a pattern of her prioritizing self-care. Back in May, she opened up about struggling with her mental health, revealing that she was on a better path. “I’m the happiest I’ve been in 10 months,” she explained at the time. “The strange thing about depression is you don’t know you’re in it until you’re out of it. I’m definitely not all the way as carefree as I used to be.. But the dark cloud that followed me every day is finally clearing up. My smile reaches my eyes again and that’s a win. I thought my album was finished.. but I gotta get some of these good vibes off in a banger real quick. Thanks for your patience.”

Russ Is In Desperate Need Of A ‘Break!’ But His Ambition Won’t Let Him Slow Down

There is no rest for the weary. Singer, rapper, actor, and author Russ knows this quite well. In fact, the “Put You On Game” musician’s latest song is all about it.

Today (August 16), Russ dropped a new single, “Break,” where he outlined just how overwhelming ambition can be. “I need a break / But I’m probably never gon’ get one / I need a break / I just been working makin’ the checks come / I need a break / Before I lose all of my marbles / Break / I cannot wait ’til tomorrow / Yeah, break,” raps Russ on the record’s chorus.

Despite his desperate pleads for a quick getaway, in the track’s opening verse, he explains why that will have to wait.

“Even on off days, gotta be on / Head of the family, take care of my mom / Welcome to bein’ a man I guess / Always knew this was the plan I guess / Covered in stress, tryna juggle this lifе / Payin’ the bills, but I’m payin’ the price / Wеlcome to bein’ a man I guess / Always knew this was the plan I guess / Yeah, work, work, work, work, work, I feel I’m RiRi / I need some balance, believe me / But it’s not easy, family needs me,” raps Russ.

Although Russ won’t take a pause from his chasing his goals, hopefully the track will serve as a wake-up call for others.

“I never said I was taking a hiatus,” Cardi B tweeted. “I’m just continuing with my social media break like I have been for the last few weeks. Not sure why that’s causing such a ruckus. BG ya know where to catch me!” This is what she said on IG Live that had people making assumptions: “Y’all might not see me for a long time, ’cause I’m just not in the mood to be famous,” the “Bongos” superstar expressed. “If y’all wanna see me y’all go to Arizona to the Tik Tok concert. Other than that I’ve been liking my low key life.”

Cardi B Clears Up Confusion About Her Presumed Hiatus

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that her out-of-context comments got misinterpreted as an actual announcement. Back in October, Cardi B suggested she would scrap her upcoming new album and that she feels detached and unmotivated to make music right now. However, she clarified shortly after this sentiment that she just felt bogged down and overwhelmed by online hate and let it get the best of her. Hopefully the 31-year-old can keep separating these two endeavors and not allow the online noise to get to the head of her artistry.

Meanwhile, even if that becomes a tougher challenge, taking this social media break is very rarely a negative thing. After all, she deserves more time to spend with her family, friends, and on her own personal life that isn’t broadcasted out to an audience.
