[WATCH] Benzino Says Daughter/Rapper Coi Leray Lied About Sleeping In Cars

coi

Last summer, rapper Coi Leray and her estranged father Raymond “Benzino” Scott appeared to have been on good terms after Benzino showed up for one of Coi’s concerts. Now Benzino is upset again after Coi called him jealous of her in an interview with Angie Martinez…Benzino went live on Instagram and flipped out on his daughter for accusing him of being jealous and claims Coi is lying about sleeping in cars and dealing drugs.

He wrote on his Instagram page:

This has to be the most ridiculous 💩 I’ve heard in my entire life on this earth. How tf can be envious towards someone I RAISED, NUTURED, PROVIDED FOR, INFLUENCED AND LOVE VERY DEARLY??? This industry and the internet have completely messed up the minds of this young generation. I’m tired of her pushing a false narrative about who I am and what I’ve done as a father. In my 40 years in hip hop I’ve never ever seen an artist DOG their parents out the was Coi does and it’s embarrassing and sad…and one last thing, @angiemartinez knows she doesn’t like me so she’s just being manipulative and messy. They want me crash out but I’ve worked on myself so hard that I ain’t going backwards for ANYTHING, but what I won’t do is allow ANYONE to slander my name and push a false narrative on my reputation and who I am. I’ve shed too many blood, sweat and tears, survived street wars and indictments. Nope no more.

Benzino Says Coi Leray’s Belief He Was ‘Envious’ of Her Career is ‘Ridiculous’

coi

Benzino and his daughter Coi Leray have a hot and cold relationship in the media. Leray appeared on Angie Martinez’s IRL Podcast and stated that her success made the relationship with her father “rocky.”

“I felt like he couldn’t handle my success,” Leray said. “I felt like it did come from an envious place, which is okay, cause he’s human, and it’s fine. He’s one of those people that feels like ‘Yo, I still have a story to tell.’”

Think Benzino took that lightly? Of course not. Hitting Instagram, Benzino called the belief ridiculous.

“This has to be the most ridiculous 💩 I’ve heard in my entire life on this earth. How tf can be envious towards someone I RAISED, NUTURED, PROVIDED FOR, INFLUENCED AND LOVE VERY DEARLY??? This industry and the internet have completely messed up the minds of this young generation.”

Earlier this year, Benzino saw his daughter, rapper Coi Leray, perform for the first time since their estranged relationship went public.

He revealed through tears he was hurt when Coi called him a dead beat dad. Coi Leray and Benzino have publicly called each other out online and went back & forth over the years. Benzino famously leaked news of a Nicki Minaj and Coi Leray collaboration before she was able to release it allegedly causing Nicki to almost pull the record, She’s said the rapper was absent in her life, but Benzino disagreed.

Coi Leray Didn’t Sell Drugs Or Sleep In Cars, Benzino Insists Amid Father-Daughter Tension

Coi Leray and Benzino don’t always take their drama to the internet, but when they do, we feel it. The pair seemed to be on good terms a few months back, though the “Blick Blick” artist’s comments about her father during a recent interview with Angie Martinez rubbed him the wrong way. “At first it was rocky, because I felt like he couldn’t handle my success,” Leray told the podcaster of how her and Benzino’s relationship changed during her rise to fame. “[It’s] okay because he’s human, that’s fine.”

Though she admittedly gave him some grace, the former media titan is having a hard time hearing some of what his child had to say. He’s already put her and Martinez on blast for spreading a “false narrative” about him, as well as Busta Rhymes for filming a music video with a half-naked Leray not too long ago. On Monday (November 13), Benzino had more to get off his chest on Live. “She said she slept in cars, she ain’t never slept in no f**king cars,” the 58-year-old’s rant began.

Benzino Has More Thoughts on Coi Leray’s New Interview

“That I knew about, you know. I had my daughter five months out the year,” he added. “I was with her mother until she was nine, then I had her five months out the year. She lived with me twice, in Atlanta she went to Campbell High School. I was a single dad, and I was taking care of my kids. All of my kids,” Benzino went off, the emotion in his voice growing. “And her two older brothers by two other men that wasn’t mine… [Coi] looks like she’s almost brainwashed. She ain’t ever slept in no cars or sold drugs. I don’t know why she’s running with this narrative.” Leray has yet to respond, but if she does choose to address her father, we know she won’t hold back on speaking her truth.

No matter what’s going on in her personal life with Benzino or her other relationships, Coi Leray continues to kill it musically. Her latest release was in tandem with Lola Brooke for the New York native’s debut album, Dennis Daughter, which you can check out at the link below. Benzino Blasts Coi Leray & Angie Martinez For “Pushing A False Narrative” About Him

After making her presence fully felt in 2022, some wondered how Coi Leray could top her success in 2023. The Boston-born baddie delivered her sophomore LP, COI, a few months back, and though the numbers were slightly lower than her debut, many titles on the tracklist managed to go viral on platforms like TikTok. In addition to sharing music of her own, Leray has been working with other stars like Lola Brooke, RAYE, and Busta Rhymes in recent months, putting out catchy collaborations for her fans to play on repeat.

Despite all that she’s achieved in life so far, one area of the black-haired beauty’s life that remains troubled is her relationship with her father, Benzino. We saw them share a sweet moment back in September when responding to an apparent diss from Latto, however, feelings have obviously changed based on what Leray had to say in her new interview with Angie Martinez. According to the Trendsetter, she feels as though The Source legend is “envious” of all that she’s accomplishing.

Coi Leray Sits Down with Angie Martinez

“At first it was rocky, because I felt like he couldn’t handle my success,” she told the radio personality. “[It’s] okay because he’s human, that’s fine,” Leray noted, not holding too much animosity toward her father. Despite her calmness in sharing her feelings, Benzino had plenty to get off his chest in an angry IG rant. “This has to be the most ridiculous 💩 I’ve heard in my entire life on this earth. How tf can be envious towards someone I RAISED, NUTURED, PROVIDED FOR, INFLUENCED AND LOVE VERY DEARLY???” he asked on Friday (November 10) afternoon.

“This industry and the internet have completely messed up the minds of this young generation. I’m tired of her pushing a false narrative about who I am and what I’ve done as a father. In my 40 years in hip hop I’ve never ever seen an artist DOG their parents out the [way] Coi does and it’s embarrassing and sad,” the 58-year-old went on. After giving his daughter a piece of his mind, Benzino then went in on Martinez. “@angiemartinez knows she doesn’t like me so she’s just being manipulative and messy,” he speculated. “They want me [to] crash out but I’ve worked on myself so hard that I ain’t going backwards for ANYTHING,” Zino promised.

“But what I won’t do is allow ANYONE to slander my name and push a false narrative on my reputation and who I am. Benzino Brags About Wild Sex Life In Salacious Interview

Benzino, former editor of Source and father to Coi Leray, recently opened up about his sex life in an interview with The Danza Project. The 58-year-old was more than happy to brag about some of his past conquests. “I have fucked some of the most beautiful-lest women on this planet. A gang of ’em. I used to be the owner of The Source magazine. Top rappers and top actresses. I like light-skinned, dark-skinned — I love women. I fucked Melyssa Ford at my video shoot. And we kicked it. We went on a date. I flew her from Canada. She’s a real sweet person, you know what I’m saying?” Benzino told the show.

Melyssa Ford is a particularly heavy name for Benzino to drop. Ford has been modeling since the 90s and appeared in many notable music videos. Her credits include Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin’” and Sisqó’s “Thong Song Remix”. However, in recent years, Ford has spoken out about music videos, calling them “demeaning to women”. She is currently the co-host of The Joe Budden Podcast and has previously been linked to the likes of Drake and Flo Rida.

Benzino Admits To Being An Asshole At The Source

Speaking of the 90s, Benzino also recently opened up about his time as EIC at Source. Turns out, albeit somewhat unsurprisingly, Benzino was not the nicest of guys. “I had to learn and grow into this because I did not grow up with this. I grew up with other shit. So I was an asshole sometimes. And I know that. I wasn’t right. And that’s not the way to be. You know? You have to try to stay in your lane in certain things. But I was transitioning. And to this day… people still think, you know, I’m that asshole. I was the top of my motherfuckin’ food chain. Even [Russell Simmons], Lyor [Cohen], all these n-ggas, Steve [Stoute] and everybody, they all had to answer to somebody,” he told My Expert Opinion.

Furthermore, he continued. “I was the top of a damn near $75 million company when n-ggas wasn’t getting money like that. I got that big money first and I was the top of that. So when the Eminem thing came through The Source, at this point it’s getting disrespectful. So how the fuck am I gonna have this n-gga in my magazine? Would you? You’re not gonna put nobody in your magazine to give this n-gga five mics after this n-gga’s being disrespectful. You wouldn’t do it, man. Nobody would.”

Coi Leray And Benzino Bond Over Latto’s Apparent Diss

Recently, Young Nudy dropped off his remix of “Peaches & Eggplants” alongside Latto and Sexyy Red. Latto took the opportunity to call out Coi Leray’s father, Benzino, by name. “Gimme that neck like Benzino,” she raps. Many listeners took the line as a diss to Coi, as her and Latto have had some beef in the past. On Latto’s hit, “Put It On Da Floor,” she appeared to call out Coi for her body. “Smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray,” she rhymed.

In April, Coi Leray then took to social media to tell Latto not to mention anyone’s bodies in her music. Latto later claimed to “love” Coi’s body, but she didn’t appear to buy it. On Coi Leray’s Blue Moon track “Isabel Marant,” she also mentions Latto with the lyrics “Hop up out that couch and roll up latto out the bank.” Luckily, it appears as though both Coi and Benzino are unfazed by Latto’s latest viral bar. She took to Twitter today to share a text message conversation between her and her father, in which he claims that Latto simply “admires” her.

Benzino Says Latto “Admires” Coi

“They all do,” he also claims, “Just stay focused.” Benzino then goes on to say that he’s got “the most famous neck on earth.” Coi Leray responded to his encouraging messages, telling her father “I love how these lil stupid situations bring us together haha on positive note! Hope you having a good day I love you.”

Coi also shared another Tweet where she seemingly references the bar, writing, “If you need to go viral, just mention my name. It works every time [kissing emojis]. enjoy !” Latto took to Instagram Live recently to break down the bar, however, she failed to acknowledge whether or not it was actually meant as a diss to Coi. Share your thoughts in the comments section below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Coi Leray, Latto, and Benzino.

Latto & Coi Leray’s Supposedly Squashed Feud Has Gotten Even Messier Now That Their Parents Are Involved

Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s personal motto is: When they go low, we go high. That might work for her, but in the world of hip-hop, where feuding proves to be lucrative, turning the other cheek will never fly. Rappers Latto and Coi Leray’s bubbling beef is just one example of this.

What was thought to be a squashed feud has gotten even messier thanks to a new development: They got their parents involved. They each mentioned the other’s bodies in their respective songs, “Put It On Da Floor” (Latto) and “Isabel Marant” (Coi Leroy), which led fans to believe their beef was at an end. However, Latto’s recent verse on Young Nudy’s “Peaches & Eggplant (Remix)” has kicked things into overdrive.

“He wanna know if it’s real or it’s fake / I got a peach on the back like a plate / I got him eatin’ my booty on tape / I might expose him like 1090 Jake / He don’t eat pussy, he gots to go / Give me that neck like Benzino / Give me that neck like, ‘Where it go?’/One thumb in my bootyhole,” rapped Latto.

Well, Coi didn’t take kindly to Latto’s joke about her father Benzino’s neck. Shortly after, she took to her X (formerly Twitter) page to request the help of her followers. “Someone find me a pic of Karen,” wrote Coi, seemingly referring to Latto’s Caucasian mother.

On Saturday, September 8, Coi shared her father’s response to the lyrical jab. In a text message exchange with Coi, Benizo wrote, “She admires you. They all do. Just stay focused,” adding, “I got the most famous neck on Earth.”

Benzino & Eminem’s Beef Held Slim Shady Back From Scoring 5-Mic Review From “The Source”

Of the many music genres that exist, hip-hop is arguably the best known for beef unfolding between artists. There have been plenty of legendary feuds and diss tracks over the decades, many of which are still talked about today. On Matt Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast, media proprietor Benzino stopped by to discuss his long-spanning drama with Eminem, who he still hasn’t totally forgiven for what transpired between them in the past. As it turns out, at the height of Zino’s career, he actually made sure that the 8 Mile actor didn’t receive the ultimate accolade, a five-mic review from The Source magazine.

“I was the top of my muthaf**kin’ food chain,” Coi Leray’s father said while reflecting on the early 2000s. “I was the top of a damn near $75 million company when ni**as wasn’t getting money like that, I got that big money first and I was the top of that,” Benzino further bragged of his past successes. Because of his high status in the industry, the 58-year-old knew that he had the power to determine how the public was perceiving artists, especially since social media wasn’t around at the time.

Benzino Addresses His Beef with Eminem on My Expert Opinion

“So when the Eminem thing came through ‘The Source,’ at this point, it’s getting disrespectful. So how the f**k am I gonna have this ni**a in my magazine? Would you?” Benzino told Hoffa and his co-hosts. “You’re not gonna put nobody in your magazine to give this ni**a five mics after this ni**a’s being disrespectful. You wouldn’t do it, man. Nobody would.”

Shortly before Benzino revisited his beef with Eminem on My Expert Opinion, the Detroit-born lyricist found himself at odds with another industry veteran – Melle Mel. The latter responded to Slim Shady’s “Realest” verse with a diss track of his own earlier this month but ultimately admitted that it fell short. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Benzino Reflects On Jay-Z & Dame Dash Angrily Pulling Up To “The Source” HQ: Video

Arguably one of the saddest stories in hip-hop history is the downfall of Benzino at The Source. The 58-year-old no longer holds his post on the publication’s masthead. Still, he remains a celebrated figure in pop culture history – though he has faced his share of disrespect from the industry and beyond. For his most recent interview, Zino joined the We In Miami podcast to chat about his tenure working at the outlet. At the time, he was raking in some serious dough.

“In our peak we was making a couple of million dollars a month, cash,” the Boston native told the show’s host. “At one point, I had more money than Jay-Z, Diddy, everyone in New York,” Benzino recalled. When he was asked about any troubling experiences with artists at The Source, Hov immediately came to mind. “This one time, Jay and Dame [Dash] was complaining about a cover situation, and they came up to ‘The Source’ on some rah-rah s**t,” his story began.

Benzino said that he had “ni**as strapped up in different rooms,” which his angry guests weren’t aware of. “Sure enough, it starts getting loud. Ni**as start coming out them rooms, and they had to get up out of there. There was a few of them, I think maybe three or four. But there was at least seven of guns up in ‘The Source,’” the embattled media mogul admitted.

Aside from reflecting on the days he spent running things at The Source, Benzino also spoke candidly about his relationship with his daughter, Coi Leray, on the We In Miami podcast. At the time, he was overwhelmed with emotion while talking about the “dead-beat dad” comments he’s seen online over the years. On one of the most recent episodes of We In Miami podcast, Former owner of The Source Magazine and reality star Ray Benzino talked about a potentially dangerous run-in with Jay-Z and Dame Dash over a cover story involving weapons at The Source office.

Benzino said, “This one time, Jay and Dame was complaining about a cover situation, and they came up to The Source on some rah-rah sh*t. So I had n***as strapped up in different rooms — they didn’t know that. So they up there and started getting loud, because we just wanted them to think that Dave [Mays, co-founder of The Source] was up there with just one person.”

He added, “Sure enough, it starts getting loud. N***as start coming out them rooms, and they had to get up out of there. There was a few of them, I think maybe three or four. But there was at least seven of us. There was at least seven guns up in The Source.”
