DJ Khaled is in family vacation mode, and it seems like he thought that Barbados would be a great place to celebrate the holiday season. He seems quite right, as new social media videos he shared show a beautiful day at the Caribbean island nation. Not only that, but the We The Best Music mogul took some time to pass through his frequent collaborator Rihanna’s childhood neighborhood. There, he spoke to locals and remarked how special it was to “breathe the same air” she breathed in her youth and witness where she flies kites. Overall, the New Orleans native seemed appreciative of the opportunity, and their history together indicates how much it means to him.

For example, this is what he had to say to Rihanna before her Super Bowl Halftime Show this year. “RiRi, I love you so much,” DJ Khaled told Page Six. “Congratulations in advance. They changed the name of Super Bowl. It’s called ‘RiRi Super Bowl.’ I’mma have my airhorn ready and I’m going to order me a cheeseburger well done. I’mma sit back, relax, watch the show… come on! It’s Super Bowl! I’m coming as a fan and Rihanna’s my sister. I can’t wait to see it. I’m here to support. We’re all winners.”

Of course, Rihanna may be an international superstar, but she still has very strong ties to her home. But for the most part, the superstar singer is more prone to share the beautiful things to find within Barbados and represent it with much pride. She and her boo A$AP Rocky, plus their kids, have really enjoyed their vacations there, and luxuries aside, we wish her family the best amid this difficult time.

Rihanna’s Cousin Tanella Alleyne Dead In Barbados Years After Brother’s Fatal Shooting

Rihanna’s life has been filled to the brim with blessings lately. Unfortunately, the 35-year-old is currently feeling the pain of losing a family member. As per Loop Barbados News, the “Diamonds” singer’s cousin, Tanella Alleyne, died suddenly in her home country last month. It’s an especially tough loss for the Fenty clan, seeing as the 28-year-old’s brother, Tavon, was fatally shot just six years before, which still weighs heavily on their hearts. The outlet notes that Tanella’s funeral took place on Monday (August 28) at St. George Parish Church.

It’s unclear whether Rihanna was able to attend so soon after giving birth. We can confirm her beautiful ballad “Lift Me Up” was played at her cousin’s celebration of life. A member of the family, Miguel Fenty, sent a message out on Twitter afterward reflecting on recent events. “What a beautiful funeral service Tanella [had], like it’s still surreal to me,” he wrote. “Seeing her in that casket really hit me and I cried not too long ago.”

Rihanna’s Family Shocked by Tanella Alleyne’s Sudden Death

Just weeks after welcoming her second son, it’s likely that Rihanna’s emotions are running higher than usual amid this tragic news about Tanella. Her partner, ASAP Rocky recently revealed that they’re planning on sharing the little one’s name with the world soon, though we won’t be upset if instead, they opt to take time to mourn their loss. It feels like just yesterday when Rihanna shared the news of her second pregnancy with the world, but as we move into July, it’s obvious that the singer’s due date is rapidly approaching. After a quick trip to Paris in support of Pharrell (whose Louis Vuitton campaign Rih recently modelled for), they headed off to her home country, Barbados, for some rest and relaxation in the sun before becoming a family of four. It hasn’t been all play as Rocky was filming a music video last week. Nevertheless, his girlfriend is ensuring he gets his share of play too.

On Sunday (July 2), adorable videos of Rihanna showing off her snowcone-making skills began going viral. The 35-year-old has a natural glow to her, wearing an unbuttoned denim skirt and a black tank top to show off her ready-to-burst baby bump. According to Just Jared, “Snowcone Man” Andrew Maynard specially delivered the sweet treat to the National Hero, and the Bad Gal happily obliged to pose for a photo with him and Rocky.

ASAP Rocky Dons Stacks On Stacks Of Gold Chains While Filming Video With Locals In Barbados

There’s been a clear maturing in ASAP Rocky since he assumed the role of a father last May. Both he and Rihanna have acknowledged this growth, as have fans who are glad to see the East Coast icon looking happier than ever before. While he’s been on daddy duty, new music arrivals from Rocky have been few and far between, though listeners are holding out hope that he’ll drop something noteworthy on us in the near future. On Friday (June 30), we got unofficial confirmation that something is in the works. The lyricist was out in Barbados, mingling with locals while apparently filming a music video.

In one clip making rounds online, Rocky wears countless cold chains stacked around his neck over a white tee. Around him, a group of men excitedly cheer, looking somewhat similar to the ASAP Mob star (minus the bling). This could be intentional, as we previously saw him sprinting through Paris in Timbs in a crowd of men, also dressed in a similar fashion to him at the time.

Rihanna wasn’t spotted on set, though she did look stunning in a green mini-dress earlier this week when she and her man’s flight first touched down in Barbados.

The last single we got from ASAP Rocky, “Same Problems?” arrived in mid-January, meanwhile, the last album he gave us, TESTING, landed in 2018. Fans are obviously thirsty for more new music from the New Yorker, but while they wait, they’ve been reflecting on his discography. Rihanna & ASAP Rocky Fly To Barbados For A Baecation After Turning Heads In Paris

Not only has Rihanna been travelling all over the world since announcing her second pregnancy in February, but she’s been doing it in style with ASAP Rocky by her side. We’ve seen the lovers visit Japan, where the soon-to-be father of two wore a graphic tee covered in miniature memes of himself, and more recently, they were in Paris to support Pharrell. Aside from Beyonce and Jay-Z, Rihanna and ASAP were arguably one of the best-dressed couples at the Louis Vuitton runway show, where they coordinated in all-blue outfits.

As Daily Mail reports, after finishing up their to-do list in France, Rocky and his “wife” (as he called Rihanna during his live performance in Europe this past week) caught a flight to Barbados. It seems to have become a tradition for the pair, as they visited the Fenty Beauty founder’s home country when she was nine months pregnant with RZA. She appears to be just as far along this time around. Of course, no information about the little one’s gender or due date is public knowledge yet.

Neither of them has given us an album in some time. The New Yorker’s Testing landed in 2017 and his girl’s last project, ANTI, came the year before that. What they have given us, however, are plenty of iconic fashion moments, and a baby (with another on the way).

With so much excitement surrounding them, it only makes sense that major rumours are beginning to swirl. According to RadarOnline‘s sources, the Bad Gal hears wedding bells in her future, and her baby daddy is on board. It remains unclear how much truth there is to the gossip. Still, fans are already drooling over the thought of Rihanna in a white designer dress.

“Throwing a wedding and having another baby are Rihanna’s main focus at the moment,” they recently told the outlet. “Luckily, A$AP’s on board, too. She has talked about wanting three or four children in total.” Seeing as she’s already got a little boy on her hands, the “Diamonds” songstress is hoping for a girl this time. As it turns out, she and Rocky have even already chosen a few names.

She’s Always Been His “Fashion Killa”

Of course, the A$AP Mob member and the expecting mother were friends long before their relationship turned romantic. They previously collaborated on his “Fashion Killa” music video years ago. In the time since, they’ve steadily proven that their wardrobes are nothing short of inspiring. Of course, it obviously makes sense then that Rihanna is reportedly planning an “over-the-top” ceremony for her wedding.

Sources say she wants to be surrounded by family and friends in her native country while tying the knot. “She wants it to be in Barbados, a super glam event. But she also wants to be able to run around barefoot,” they dished, also listing potential attendees as Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Adele. Additionally, island food will be served and plenty of live music will keep the vibes high. It remains unclear when (and if) we’ll see Rihanna walk down the aisle to A$AP Rocky anytime soon, but we’ll surely keep you posted with any updates.

Rihanna Is Thrilled About Her First Barbados National Heroes Day As One Of The Honorees

Yesterday was a big day in Barbados, as April 28 marks National Heroes Day, during which the island nation honors a select group of people who have been declared National Heroes. Rihanna earned that distinction last November, meaning this year’s National Heroes Day was Rihanna’s first as an honoree, about which she was thrilled.

Rihanna shared some photos from the celebration and wrote, “My very first #NationalHeroesDay as a National Hero of my country Barbados! [Barbados flag emojis] What an absolute honor to be amongst such great men and women who have come before me and held this title in commitment to our nation! I will forever cherish these memories and continue to represent the Bajan people and my home Barbados to the fullest!! Love and gratitude to both The Prime Minister, The Honorable Mia Amor Mottley and our President, Her Excellency The Most Honorable Dame Sandra Mason for trusting me with this honor!”

The first National Heroes Day was celebrated on April 28, 1998, 100 years after the birth of Sir Grantley Herbert Adams, Barbados’ first prime minister (a position then called “premier”). The holiday has been observed annually since then.

The National Hero distinction is a big deal, as Rihanna is just one of 11 people to ever be given the title and the first one since the inaugural ten-person class in 1998. Rihanna is one of only two living National Heroes of Barbados, alongside legendary cricket player Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers. She’s also one of just two women to ever receive the honor, the other being Sarah Ann Gill, a social and religious leader in the 1800s.

Rihanna never sleeps. Though plenty of fans have voiced their complaints that we haven’t seen a new album since 2016’s Anti, it’s not like Rihanna hasn’t been busy. She became one of the only female billionaires in the world this year, due to the success of her Fenty Beauty and Savage Fenty respective lines, and she even dipped her toes back into the music game a little bit with a massive vinyl collection of all her old work.

But despite all she’s accomplished in her career, part of Riri’s heart will also be in her native Barbados. She’s always kept her roots there, returning for different festivals every year and making sure people know she hasn’t forgotten where she’s from. Well, tonight she’s also back in Barbados to help celebrate a very historic moment in the country’s history: officially becoming a republic. You see, in the past, Barbados was a royal colony, but they’ve opted to self-govern. But Barbados will still remain part of the greater commonwealth, despite their newfound independence.
