Jadakiss Reflects On Why Diddy Parties Were The “GOAT”

Amid all the allegations against Diddy, whether federal or civil, you probably haven’t heard a lot of positive things about his infamous parties these days. But before this scandal really blew up, these shindigs and celebrations had a much more positive reputation and place in the culture. If you need to see why, look no further than Jadakiss’ recent comments on them, which he issued while on Complex‘s “GOAT Talk” series alongside his son, Jae’Won. The LOX MC spoke on signing with Bad Boy Records and how this exposed them to a whole new party scene, which was very different from what they were used to.

“Some of the best parties we was ever in our life was a Diddy party! This is long before anything, any [allegations], any of that,” Jadakiss expressed. In addition, he said that he and his rap group only attended “house parties and parties in gymnasiums” before linking with Bad Boy. “With him is the first time we was ever in Cipriani or any of that kind of s**t.” ‘Kiss also gave a specific example of one of the most impressive get-togethers in his opinion, which is also characteristic of what he appreciates – or rather, appreciated – about those events.

Jadakiss Talks About Diddy Parties

Jadakiss told his son Jae’Won that, at the start of his career, he went to a tour launch party that Diddy held before hitting the road. “We had a party, then the tour buses was outside, then we went on tour after the party. That was the GOAT party, that was incredible,” he recalled. Considering how Sean Combs’ case is progressing and all the alleged details surrounding it, you won’t find many more praiseful words for these parties these days.

On that note, there are still a lot of accusations emerging against Diddy, especially around his alleged behavior at these parties. However, Jadakiss maintained that he only refers to the good parts about them, not the more serious alleged activity that went down. At the end of the day, two things can be true at once. Many appreciate that he made this distinction clear for the audience.

The specific claims that Kim fans are mad about is how the Trinidadian femcee claimed that there were no rappers naming their fanbases before Nicki cultivated, supported, and championed the Barbz, citing Justin Bieber’s Beliebers and Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters as her predecessors in this regard in other genres.

“Before l had a record deal, my fans were making a moment for themselves on Twitter,” Nicki Minaj expressed. “I had already given them a name. In fact, do you know that all these artists that give their fans names now, when I started calling my fans the Barbz, there were no rappers naming their fans. […] That was it. Now every single human being that becomes an artist gives their fans a name. Even artists in other countries. I didn’t think it was something that would spread to the hip-hop community at all. But it doesn’t matter, because the Barbz are still superior.”

As for Lil Kim fans, they called Nicki Minaj out because they feel like Kim deserves that credit. “Rappers better run and hide, ’cause here comes the Beehive,” the Brooklyn femcee rapped on “The Beehive” off of her 2003 album La Bella Mafia. “Maturing is realizing Nicki Minaj’s number one goal is to take credit for EVERYTHING Lil’ Kim contributed to the game,” one fan retorted. “KIM WAS THE FIRST RAPPER to name their fan base (BEEHIVE) in early 2000s (That’s 20+ years ago!)  sorry nicki the fan base names existed BEFORE the internet.” This criticism also extended to include other femcees like Foxy Brown. Landon Barker has responded to backlash for baby oil bottles at his birthday celebration at a club amid the Diddy scandal over the substance’s alleged nefarious uses in that case. He clarified that this was not his event and that he didn’t approve of having those bottles sent out to him. “I’d like to come on here and apologize and address the fact that people are saying I had this whole themed birthday party,” Travis Barker’s son began his social media address. “First off, I have not had a birthday party. My birthday party is next week. Now, what exactly happened was we all went to Nobu for my birthday. Me and my family and my friends. After Nobu, me and my friends wanted to go celebrate, so my friend contacted a club promoter.

“The club promoter then said, ‘Hey, this guy’s having a birthday party tonight. Do you guys want to come to this party?’ He said he’d give us a table and a bottle, make sure we’re all good to go,” Landon Barker continued. “So we’re like, ‘Okay, it’s my 21st, let’s all go out and do something.’ So we all arrive to this club, just me and all my friends. We go to the table. Everybody’s saying ‘Why didn’t you leave right away?’ And that was because I didn’t know what was going on right away. It was a dark environment and all I could really see was another table having flashing bottles being brought out. The bottles had flashing lights underneath them, so I wasn’t able to distinguish what they were.

Landon Barker Addresses Baby Oil Speculation

“I’m just thinking they’re bringing out tequila with the bottles,” Landon Barker continued. “But I have no idea what’s going on at this point. And then they bring bottles out to our table, and that’s when I visibly noticed that they had light-up baby oil. I didn’t pick up the bottle once and I did not condone that. I just went to a club to celebrate my birthday and ended up in a bad situation.” “My apologies go out to everyone I hurt. This wasn’t my idea and I never wanted that to happen,” he added.

Off the release of Rod Wave’s new album Last Lap, a lot of fans have questions about his song topics and their relation to his real life… Just don’t make too many assumptions about it. That’s what popular YouTuber Chris Sails learned when he took to social media to claim that Wave and his child’s mother are going through a rough patch right now. Then, Sails questioned why the rapper and singer keeps making sad songs, presumably about this topic, when he allegedly has a new girlfriend. The YouTuber did not offer any confirmation of this, though, so these are still just social media rumors on the gossip train at the end of the day.

Regardless, Rod Wave eventually caught wind of this, and he was understandably not pleased. “Aye Chris sail when we catch u we gone beat tf out u boyyyyy for da f**k of it,” he tweeted. “lol jk,” the “25” artist followed up. Soon after, Chris Sails returned to TikTok to react to these tweets and apologize to Wave for his presumptions and gossiping. He even started to sing one of his songs to show that he was a big fan, and that he meant no harm with his speculation.

Elsewhere, Rod Wave also handled another social media narrative that seemed to propagate at his expense. GloRilla called him out for dropping an album the same day she was. “WHY DF WOULD YOU DROP ON MY DAY IM FINNA TWEAK OUT,” she wrote in Wave’s Instagram comments section upon the announcement of the aforementioned Last Lap. While this seems to be a joke, a theory bolstered by Glo engaging with his own social media page, some folks interpreted it as legitimate frustration.

Nevertheless, whether or not this is a contentious matter or just a light-hearted one, Rod Wave outsold GloRilla, so maybe she was right to be a little disillusioned. However, numbers don’t determine greatness in art. Fans enjoyed both new albums for wildly different reasons, and their crossover audience can get a kick out of both. This led T.I. to intervene and cool things down before celebrating that Dro is almost four years sober.
