Moneybagg Yo Forced To Cancel Tour Dates After Low Ticket Sales

Earlier today, many fans woke up to some bad news. Emails were sent out confirming the Moneybagg Yo tour dates had been canceled, even as late as the week of the show. It’s unclear how many of his shows ended up canceled though fans on Twitter point out that Orlando and Philly dates in particular have had the plug pulled. He announced his tour back in June. The 23 performances were intended to start in August and run until September. Artists like Sexyy Red and Finesse2Tymes were billed as opening acts. It’s unclear how many, if any, of the shows will still happen.

Fans on Twitter and Instagram had different reactions to the cancelations. Some blamed Moneybagg Yo Directly, claiming he overestimated his fanbase. “because these street rappers got no substance in they music. nobody tryn see them walk back and forth in stage for an hour,” reads one of the top comments on an Instagram post. Others blame concerts being so expensive in general for the low sales. “Maybe if concert tickets weren’t so fkn expensive nowadays this wouldn’t be happening,” says one fan. “I keep telling y’all we in a recession… it ain’t the time for concerts if you ain’t Beyoncé lol,” says another.

Moneybagg Yo Cancels Planned Tour Dates

A number of high-profile rappers have been forced to cancel shows recently. After opener, The Kid LAROI pulled out of Lil Baby’s tour last month fans became suspicious. That also resulted in a number of canceled dates for the “Yes Indeed” rapper.

Lil Durk was also forced to cancel a number of performances, though for a very different reasons. Following a surprise hospitalization, he was advised by his doctors to take time to rest. As a result, he canceled a number of scheduled performances including on at Rolling Loud Festival in Miami. It’s currently unclear if Moneybagg Yo plans to reschedule the shows for a later date. Drake Breaks Record With His “It’s All A Blur” Tour, Makes Over $5M In One Night

Drake set off on his “It’s All A Blur” tour alongside 21 Savage last month, and his recent performances in Washington broke a record. Reportedly, the artist earned more than $5 million each night at Capital One Arena, making him the first rapper ever to earn that much in a single arena performance. The feat is worth celebrating, though it’s unsurprising considering how well the tour has gone thus far. No stranger to success, Drake was also recently named Rap Caviar’s 2023 MVP.

The “It’s All A Blur” tour will run until October, with notable dates in Los Angeles, Inglewood, Toronto, and more. The tour’s featured various special guests so far, including Lil Yachty, and most recently, Meek Mill. It’s been getting a lot of attention for the antics of Drake’s fanbase. Lately, they’ve even been launching bras at the rapper. It all started when one well-endowed fan threw her 36DD bra onstage in Chicago. “Some knocks,” he noted. Ever since, he’s been met with countless pieces of lingerie, including one 36G bra from a fan in Brooklyn. Drake demanded that fans “immediately” locate the woman, and they eventually came through. The woman behind the “knocks” was found to be Veronica Correia, who even reportedly received an offer from Playboy following the incident.

Drake’s “It’s All A Blur” Tour

Drake has also been teasing his next album in recent weeks, For All The Dogs. The album is confirmed to feature Nicki Minaj as well as “the old Drake.” Fans are eager to hear the rapper’s latest offering, as evidenced by audiences barking at him during recent tour stops. Listeners shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to hear For All The Dogs, as Drizzy recently revealed it’ll drop in coming weeks.

Alongside the album update, Drake told concertgoers at Madison Square Garden just how much his fans mean to him. “Just know, you’re always with me and I’m always thinking of you and everything I do is for you,” he shared. “Every time I step in that booth, I hope to make you proud.”

Drake & 21 Savage Cancel Memphis Concert: “Logistically Impossible”

Drake and 21 Savage have canceled their upcoming concert at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. In a statement from a representative for Drake, the rapper’s team explains that it would’ve been “logistically impossible” to put on the show at the venue.

“Due to the magnitude of the production of the Drake concert, it is logistically impossible to bring the show as designed to the FedExForum on August 6th,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, the show is canceled.” Ticketmaster also updated its page for the concert with the message: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

News of Drake’s canceled concert comes as he prepares for the release of his next studio album, For All The Dogs. At an It’s All a Blur Tour show in New York City, Drake teased that the project will be dropping in just a few short weeks. “Make new friends. If you drink, drink some liquor. If you smoke, smoke some weed. And if you like somebody, like my dad says, keep fucking,” Drake said on stage. “I will be back soon. I have an album dropping for you in, like, two weeks or some shit. But until then, just know, you’re always with me and I’m always thinking of you. Everything I do is for you. Every time I step in that booth, I hope I make you proud.”

Drake announced the new album in conjunction with the release of his recent book of poetry, Titles Ruin Everything. Drake will continue performing on the It’s All A Blur tour throughout the United States and Canada through October. His next show is Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philidelphia. It’s his second night in the city. On Monday, he brought out Meek Mill for a hometown appearance.

Lil Durk Makes Statement After Concert Cancelations

Earlier today, it was reported that Lil Durk had to cancel numerous upcoming tour and festival shows. That followed a story that broke last week where Durk was reportedly hospitalized for dehydration and over-exhaustion. Successive reports confirmed that his hospitalization was merely a precaution and that his condition was always fine. But now it seems like he’s taking an opportunity to protect himself going forward by canceling previously announced shows.

Lil Durk made a public statement explaining why he was forced to make the cancellations. “Since I’m still awaiting full clearance from my doctors to travel and perform again, I have no other choice but to cancel my headlining Rolling Loud performance,” his statement begins. “While I’m home resting, I am looking forward to my two homecoming shows on the 11th & 12th in Chicago. For the rest of the country, I’ll be announcing new dates soon. #StillHealing.” Clearly, Durk’s hospitalization resulted in doctors telling him to take some time off. In a post about the announcement, DJ Akademiks notes that Durk’s Rolling Loud Miami performance was set to pay him 750k.

Lil Durk Postpones Tour

Earlier this year Lil Durk released his new album Almost Healed. The project went on to debut at #2 on the Billboard 200 and for a while, it had the highest first-week sales of any rap album this year. Those numbers were outdone by Lil Uzi Vert’s recent Pink Tape. Despite that, Almost Healed‘s biggest hit “All My Life” featuring J. Cole remains in the top 10 of the Hot 100. Earlier this month the song was even certified platinum.

There could be even more Lil Durk music coming soon. The rapper has repeatedly teased fans with the possibility of an Almost Healed deluxe edition. Earlier this year he claimed that the deluxe version of the album could come out as soon as this summer. It’s unclear how these tour cancelations will impact his plans to eventually release it. What do you think of Lil Durk postponing and canceling shows for health reasons? Let us know in the comment section below.

The Kid LAROI Pulls Out Of Lil Baby’s Tour Amid Canceled Dates

Things just got quite turbulent for Lil Baby’s upcoming “It’s Only Us” tour- but maybe it won’t stay that way. Still, that’s an optimistic perspective, since another big change to the nationwide trek just broke on the Internet. Moreover, it seems like The Kid LAROI will no longer be accompanying the rapper on his journey across the United States. As of writing this article, the other supporting acts, namely Rylo Rodriguez, GloRilla, Gloss Up, and Hunxho, remain on board for the 24 or so dates of the concert series. Furthermore, these reports come after it was revealed that Baby dropped some cities from the tour, reportedly due to low ticket sales.

To elaborate, Lil Baby specifically canceled shows for Las Vegas, Sacramento, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Denver, and Louisville. For those who bought tickets to these shows, his team will fully refund the purchases, and some of the new dates aren’t even on sale yet (the new Philly and New York shows go live on Tuesday, July 18). Regarding The Kid LAROI, though, it’s unclear whether this contributed to his exit from the tour. He hasn’t spoken on it as of writing this article, although the Atlanta rapper posted the updated tour lineup on his Instagram page.

Lil Baby Announces New Tour Dates List Without The Kid LAROI

However, in brighter news, Lil Baby brought on none other than Teyana Taylor to co-produce and creative direct the tour. “He say ‘ITS ONLY US’ I say ‘IT’S ONLY UP’ from here!” she announced on social media. “So let’s turn s**t up a notch! Go time @lilbaby. Thank you @lilbaby & @qcmceo_p for trusting @theauntiesinc to creative direct & co-produce The #IOU tour! This one will be one for the books fasho!! Meanwhile, it’s no doubting the fact that the 28-year-old has the fanbase to pack some stellar shows. It’s unclear whether this was a result of overestimated performance or some other logistical issue. Nevertheless, at least it’s not all bad news concerning the “It’s Only Us” tour. The Weeknd Respects Michael Jackson After Breaking His Record

Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd (or maybe as “Tedros Tedros” from his rat-tailed character on HBO’s The Idol), is breaking massive records. The crooning R&B artist destroyed a previous tour revenue record held by the one and only Michael Jackson. The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour is now the highest-grossing tour ever by a Black artist. The current tour has raked in over $350 in ticket sales alone. Add in merch and concessions, and this tour is going to be one of the most financially successful music events of all time.

Michael Jackson held the record since 1987 when he went on his “Bad” Tour. Adjusting for inflation, MJ grossed $311 million during that time and ended up number two on the list of richest tours of the 1980s. Pink Floyd’s “A Momentary Lapse in Reason” Tour took the top spot. Flashforward to now, The Weeknd was aware of the impending record and quickly nabbed the highest-grossing tour of the 2020s decade. When he cruised right past the King of Pop, he made sure to give the late great musical genius his flowers.

The Weeknd Is On A Torrid Pace To Icon Status

“[My] king. [Then], now and forever. [Rest] easy,” is what the caption says on The Weeknd’s Tweet. A video from a fan’s perspective captured him on stage, singing his rendition of the Michael Jackson hit, “Dirty Diana.” Renamed “D.D.,” he sings it live as an homage to surpassing Michael’s tour record. He is still on the road, going international this year. The “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour concluded its North American stint back in September 2022. The multi-country tour will end the international portion on October 25th of this year in Guadalajara, Mexico.

As for the record of highest-selling tour of all time, that accolade belongs to Sir Elton John. His “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” recently concluded and pulled in a whopping $910 million over 320 separate shows. It’s tough to beat the most popular pop singer of all time. But beating out Michael Jackson is still an impressive feat for The Weeknd. He’ll look to continue his rampant cultural influence with the tour and the TV screen.
