Kendrick Lamar’s Last-Minute Tecate Pa’l Norte Cancellation Leaves Fans Disappointed

Kendrick Lamar was previously scheduled to headline Tecate Pa’l Norte on Friday (March 29), but ended up canceling the show last minute. The announcement arrived only hours before he was expected to hit the stage. The music festival takes place annually at the Parque Fundidora in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Organizers shared the unfortunate news in an official statement.

“For unforeseen circumstances due to logistical issues out of Tecate Pal Norte’s organization — we’re sorry to announce that Kendrick Lamar won’t be able to perform tonight at the festival,” the statement reads. Kendrick was scheduled to perform after Peso Pluma, who extended his show in an attempt to make up for the rapper’s absence. “We appreciate Peso Pluma for extending his showtime. Deorro will be closing Tecate Light Stage. The programmed shows of the Festival will run as planned,” the festival also told attendees.

Tecate Pa’l Norte Announces Kendrick Lamar’s Cancellation

As expected, festivalgoers were pretty disappointed that Kendrick didn’t perform. The comments section of a Reddit post about the cancelation is flooded with fans demanding an explanation, which he’s yet to provide aside from a repost of the festival’s announcement on his Instagram Story. “Explain yourself kdot,” one user urges, with another saying they “hate when this happens.” Several commenters are also speculating about what could have caused the last-minute cancelation. While some think pay might have been the problem, others joke that his recent Drake diss on “Like That” with Future and Metro Boomin left him afraid to show his face.

Either way, supporters want answers, and it remains to be seen whether or not they’ll get them. What do you think of Kendrick Lamar canceling his Tecate Pa’l Norte set at the last minute? Lil Durk Says He’s “Almost Healed” In New Health Update

Earlier this month, it was reported that Lil Durk had been hospitalized due to dehydration and exhaustion. The rapper later shared that he had been released from the hospital, telling fans he was on the road to recovery. His health struggles appear to have been more serious than what listeners expected, unfortunately. Durk ended up cancelling a slew of dates on his “Sorry For The Drought” tour, telling fans that he was not yet in the clear to perform.

“Since I’m still awaiting full clearance from my doctors to travel and perform again, I have no other choice but to cancel my headlining Rolling Loud performance,” he said in a statement last week. “While I’m home resting, I am looking forward to my two homecoming shows on the 11th & 12th in Chicago. For the rest of the country, I’ll be announcing new dates soon. #StillHealing.”

Lil Durk’s Health Update

Now, he’s taken to social media to give fans another, highly-anticipated update on the status of his health. “I’m almost healed,” he told Instagram followers on his story, “I appreciate the energy being on 1000.” The hopeful update has left fans feeling relieved that the 30-year-old is on the mend, and eager to peep his rescheduled tour dates.

Durk’s listeners are also anticipating the deluxe edition of Almost Healed, which he’s been teasing as of late. He previously hinted that the deluxe LP could come out this summer, but he’s yet to give many specifics. It’s unclear whether or not his health struggles have halted his plans for the drop. It’s possible, however, that the unexpected obstacle could have put things on pause for the moment. In another recent update, the Chicago rapper shared that his fans mean everything to him. “Once I get my full energy back,” he told them, “it’s back to business which I’m looking forward to. #StillHealing.”

Lil Durk Makes Statement After Concert Cancelations

Earlier today, it was reported that Lil Durk had to cancel numerous upcoming tour and festival shows. That followed a story that broke last week where Durk was reportedly hospitalized for dehydration and over-exhaustion. Successive reports confirmed that his hospitalization was merely a precaution and that his condition was always fine. But now it seems like he’s taking an opportunity to protect himself going forward by canceling previously announced shows.

Lil Durk made a public statement explaining why he was forced to make the cancellations. “Since I’m still awaiting full clearance from my doctors to travel and perform again, I have no other choice but to cancel my headlining Rolling Loud performance,” his statement begins. “While I’m home resting, I am looking forward to my two homecoming shows on the 11th & 12th in Chicago. For the rest of the country, I’ll be announcing new dates soon. #StillHealing.” Clearly, Durk’s hospitalization resulted in doctors telling him to take some time off. In a post about the announcement, DJ Akademiks notes that Durk’s Rolling Loud Miami performance was set to pay him 750k.

Lil Durk Postpones Tour

Earlier this year Lil Durk released his new album Almost Healed. The project went on to debut at #2 on the Billboard 200 and for a while, it had the highest first-week sales of any rap album this year. Those numbers were outdone by Lil Uzi Vert’s recent Pink Tape. Despite that, Almost Healed‘s biggest hit “All My Life” featuring J. Cole remains in the top 10 of the Hot 100. Earlier this month the song was even certified platinum.

There could be even more Lil Durk music coming soon. The rapper has repeatedly teased fans with the possibility of an Almost Healed deluxe edition. Earlier this year he claimed that the deluxe version of the album could come out as soon as this summer. It’s unclear how these tour cancelations will impact his plans to eventually release it. What do you think of Lil Durk postponing and canceling shows for health reasons? Let us know in the comment section below.

Southwest Airlines Under Investigation After Mass Flight Cancellations Impacting Thousands

The holidays are typically a time of cheer. Unfortunately, this year that wasn’t the case for those stuck at airports due to flight cancellations. In particular, those travelling with Southwest Airlines were hit the hardest.

As Complex reports, after upwards of 2,500 flights were cancelled on Tuesday (December 27), the U.S. Department of Transportation made the executive decision to step in. “USDOT is concerned by Southwest’s unacceptable rate of cancellations and delays. [Also the] reports of lack of prompt customer service,” they wrote on Twitter yesterday evening.

“The Department will examine whether cancellations were controllable and if Southwest is complying with its customer service plan,” they additionally went on to note.

On Monday, Southwest shut down nearly 3,000, or approximately 70%, of its scheduled flights. “We’re working with Safety at the forefront to urgently address wide-scale disruption by rebalancing the airline and repositioning Crews and our fleet ultimately to best serve all who plan to travel with us,” their subsequent statement read.

“We were fully staffed and prepared for the approaching holiday weekend when the severe weather swept across the continent, where Southwest is the largest carrier in 23 of the top 25 travel markets in the U.S. These operational conditions forced daily changes to our flight schedule at a volume and magnitude that still has the tools our teams use to recover the airline operating at capacity.”

Half of the cancellations on Boxing Day were Southwest flights. Following behind them was Delta, whose second-place spot saw them shutting down a total of 265 flights.

Thousands remain in airports, with little to no customer service or aid available for them. Apps like TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram are full of storytimes from those spending their Christmas in an airport.

Check back in later for any updates on the Southwest Airlines investigation.
