DJ Akademiks Hops On Stream Playing Jay-Z Music After Mogul Accused Of Rape

DJ Akademiks began a livestream session playing Jay-Z music immediately after news went public of the mogul accused of sexual assault in a new lawsuit. Social media shared a clip of Akademiks playing Jay-Z’s “Dead President” as he began his stream. Before the lawsuit, Akademiks planned to address the mogul after Roc Nation artist Rapsody dissed him in a new freestyle. Big Ak shared plans to respond to Rapsody by addressing her boss, Jay-Z, in a live stream over the weekend.

Seizing the opportunity, DJ Akademiks’s Livestream reached over 255,000 viewers in the first hour as he reviewed the lawsuit. Jay-Z is named alongside Diddy in a re-filed lawsuit by an anonymous plaintiff. The woman accuses the moguls of sexually assaulting her in 2000 at an MTV VMA After-Party. The plaintiff accuses the moguls of drugging her, restraining her, and raping her while others looked on.

Akademiks Trolls Jay-Z Playing “Reasonable Doubt” On Livestream After Rape Lawsuit

Jay-Z released an official statement immediately in response to the claims. Claiming “blackmail,” It reads: “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a “lawyer” named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!! These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!”

Mentioning his wife, Beyonce, and family, Jay-Z added: “My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit. My heart and support goes out to true victims in the world, who have to watch how their life story is.”

‘Her Loss’ Cover Star Suki Baby Celebrates ‘GNX,’ Akademiks Responds

Drake Links with 'HER LOSS' Cover Star Suki Baby in Houston

Qui Yasuka aka Suki Baby, the cover star of Drake’s Her Loss collaboration album with 21 Savage, says no one is touching Kendrick Lamar right now. “This is just his way of putting out to the world, ‘Nobody is fucking playing with me,’” she said on Instagram.

That support isn’t sitting well with Akademiks who responded: “Shorty might be a little dense in her thinking, but be very clear, this Kendrick album is the embodiment of the energy from the battle.”

You can hear his reaction below.

Akademiks Reacts To “Her Loss” Cover Model Suki Baby’s Love For Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX”

Akademiks chimed in on Suki Baby, the cover model of Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss album, shocking social media with her praise for Kendrick Lamar’s new album, GNX, on Thanksgiving. During a recent chat with her followers, Suki expressed her admiration for GNX, describing it as more than just a response to Lamar’s detractors. “This album Kendrick put out—it’s for the world,” she shared. “We can go back a couple of songs, and he’s not even talking about bro. He’s in this space where he’s saying, ‘Nobody is playing with me.’ It’s not just directed at one person; it’s a statement.”

As usual, Akademiks shared his thoughts on Suki’s comments, saying, “Shorty might be a little dense in her thinking, but be very clear, this Kendrick album is the embodiment of the energy from the battle.” Big Ak would relate GNX to Drake’s album More Life, the project after Drizzy’s battle with Meek Mill. He added: “Drake’s album after Meek Mill … the obliteration of Meek Mill. That was the embodiment of, ‘hey, this is me on an aggressive type of timing, since y’all think y’all can play with me. Look what I did to the last dude.’ And that’s what Kendrick is on. I’m not saying he is speaking about Drake in every line. But the energy created by the battle is still on this album.”

Akademiks Addresses Suki Baby’s Praise Of Kendrick Lamar & GNX

GNX is set to debut at #1 with 324,000 units after taking over Apple Music and Spotify charts. The surprised album features an all-L.A. roster outside of SZA’s features on “luther” and “gloria.” The album’s lead track, “squabble up” is projected to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Memes featuring Lamar screaming the producer Mustard’s name propelled “tv off” to social media’s top of the charts. Lamar’s Yell inspired brands to add it to their promotions.

As Kendrick’s album soars to record-breaking heights ahead of the Super Bowl, Drake prepares to go international in February. Drizzy and Live Nation revealed his upcoming Anita Max Win Tour on Thanksgiving. Before the announcement, Drake revealed the tour on livestream with xQc. The tour kicks off the same day as Lamar’s anticipated Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show performance.

DJ Akademiks Blames The Downfall Of ESPN On Skip Bayless

As DJ Akademiks watches rap star-turned-podcaster Cam’ron‘s sit-down interview with Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, he claims Skip Bayless is responsible for ESPN’s alleged downfall in sports media. Big Ak claims ESPN or Skip Bayless did not conduct the Tyson/Paul interview. In a clip of him commenting on the interview, Ak mentioned Skip, saying, “ESPN just completely fallen to shit? And I’m be honest with you: the fall of Skip Bayless was the pivot of sports media to podcasts. Because I’m shocked this face-off didn’t take place on ESPN.”

DJ Akademiks elaborated: “I listen to Gilbert Arenas, and I listen to usually former players sitting around nothing that resembles a sports desk; they’re just chilling. Talking about – not necessarily play-by-play – but they’re talking about it in a barbershop sense. But it’s way more engaging. I listen to Cam’ron and Mase talk about sports, tell their own personal stories, and relate them to the everyday man. Nobody wants to sit around with the highlights playing around them; it’s like, ‘Yo, watch the games on your own time.’ You got Cam’ron with chains on.”

Big AK Says Skip Bayless Caused The Fall Of ESPN

Skip Bayless ended Undisputed, his long-running Fox Sports sports talk show, in August. The show featured an original theme song by Lil Wayne. During the show’s eight-year run, Wayne appeared many times. Popular sports analyst Shannon Sharpe was Bayless’s former co-host before leaving for ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith in 2023. Skip and Stephen were also former co-hosts before they split in 2016. The two have discussed the break-up several times over the years.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is Friday, November 15, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Netflix will present the brand’s first-ever live event worldwide on the streaming platform. Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions will present the event. The fight will feature a co-headliner in Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor. There is no word if DJ Akademiks will attend the event yet.

Young Thug And Gunna Are No Longer Friends, According To A Now-Deleted Post From Young Thug

In the words of Drake, Young Thug is now a member of the tweet-and-delete crew. Today (November 9), the “Yeah Yeah” rapper took to his official page with a shocking announcement.

Following Young Thug’s recent release from custody, fans held out hope for a collaboration between him and Gunna. However, Young Thug seemingly shut down that wish on X (formerly Twitter), writing (viewable here): “Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know u my guy.”

This upload blindsided supporters following reports that Young Thug requested a probation exemption to allow him to remain in contact with Gunna after his release.

Users online believe Young Thug’s remarks were in response to Gunna reposting a promotional post teasing new music from Thug in his Instagram stories (viewable here).

Shortly after Thug’s removed statement Akademiks took to his X page to double down on past speculations that there was tension among the two.

“[I] still predict Young Thug to say he was hacked in a few,” he wrote. “But, how many times he gonna tell y’all he don’t f*ck wit Gunna before y’all believe it.”

In the past Thug’s father, Big Jeff, spoke out in support of Gunna, attended Gunna’s The Bittersweet Tour, and slammed “snitch” claims pointed at Gunna.

Now, Young Thug fans are side eyeing Big Jeff and all others who have recently come out to support Gunna.

The Report That Claimed Future And Drake Squashed Their Beef Is False, According To Akademiks

Fans of Drake and Future’s reconciliation celebration parade was short-lived. According to Uproxx’s Elliott Wilson the former collaborators mended their friendship.

During The Bigger Picture‘s latest episode (viewable here), Wilson claimed that the hip-hop heavy weights’ feud was official over. “I have it on good authority that Drake and Future have at least gotten on the phone and resolved their differences,” he said.

However, shortly after HipHopDX posted the confessional clip (viewable here), another industry figure came out to refute the remark. On his own platform, online commentator Akademiks shared insider knowledge to the contrary. “I’ve spoken to extremely credible sources on both sides, and Drake and Future have not been on the phone,” he said (viewable here courtesy of NFR Podcast).

Both Wilson and Akademiks have deep ties to rappers and their close affiliates. So, this has quickly become a case of he said, he said. Users across X (formerly Twitter), have expressed their frustration with these opposing recounts.

“See now this is what we aren’t gonna do, have two different stories over and over again. We need answers,” wrote one user.

Others have begun to question why Drake and Future were at odds to begin with. Hip-hop fans can understand Drake’s disdain for Metro Boomin, Kendrick Lamar, and Asap Rocky. But the supposed tension between Drake and Future has some stumped.

Mustard Claimed Album Sales Were ‘A Form Of White Supremacy,’ But Fans Believe The Producer’s Declaration Has Other Ego-Driven Roots

Mustard produced Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping Drake diss track, “Not Like Us.” However, it seems that momentum hasn’t translated over into his personal projects.

On July 26, the acclaimed producer dropped his latest album, Faith Of A Mustard Seed. Now, the first week sells projections are supposedly in. According to Akademiks, the body of work sold 18k units.

As users online began to declare the album a “flop,” Mustard made a bold claim on his personal X (formerly Twitter) page. “Album sales are a form of white supremacy you n****s racist,” he wrote.

He then sent a jab Drake’s way before turning his attention to Akademiks, writing: “Drake is the Malcolm X of white people 😂 and Akademiks make sure you post Gordo’s first week since Drake thought he did a thing with making him drop on the same day as me 😂.”

However, fans didn’t let Mustard’s first declaration pass without pushing back. One pointed out that Ice Spice’s debut album Y2K out sold his, to which he was left speechless.

Many began to dogpile Mustard as they referenced his past reaction to his 2019 album, Perfect Ten, first week sells.

“Now it’s racism, should’ve got Carti up there again, maybe you would’ve moved some units,” penned one user.

“It’s only racist when your album flops. If your album sold well, you’d be flexing your sales 😂😂😭😭,” laughed another.

“No album sales represent if your audience / the marketplace actually like what you produce. Clearly they don’t like you. Stop playing the race card,” chimed another.

But several people jumped in to side with Mustard. “Too many people take numbers way too seriously. Let the music speak,” argued one user.

“Plenty of artists drop projects that have low sales In the beginning for it to go platinum later,” added another.

“I hate how people use album sales as a metric to grade how good and powerful the music is. If you changed one person’s life while they listened to any of the tracks, you already won, man,” wrote one user.

The public’s tracking of first week sells has been used to instigate multiple rap feuds.

Faith Of A Mustard Seed is out on now via 10 Summers Records and Interscope.

Yungeen Ace Swears To DJ Akademiks That He Won’t Diss Foolio

It seems like getting a solid read on Yungeen Ace’s relationship with the now late rapper Foolio will never happen. No matter what positivity he shows toward his counterpart, Chicago-born MC is always going to have some eyebrows raised. For example, just about a week ago, the now Jacksonville native hopped on an Instagram Live session with his followers in which people were asking him about Foolio. Ace pointed out sad and tragic his passing was, as well as how they were supposedly cooler with each other behind closed doors. This led fans to make numerous comparisons to how King Von was when FBG Duck was murdered. It’s worth mentioning that the alleged killer of Foolio was accusing Yungeen Ace as the one who put the hit on him.

However, he has not been charged in any capacity. But going back to the IG Live clip, DJ Akademiks reposted it to his account. Assumedly, Ace and the hip-hop sleuth had some conversations because a recent interview between them has just come out. Of course, Foolio was the main topic of discussion and during their chat. Throughout their sit-down, the “Ready To Die” MC continued to say more positive things about him.

Yungeen Ace Doesn’t Disrespect The Dead

In the clip above, Akademiks asks him if he’s going to continue to diss Foolio, to which he vowed, “No… can’t be doing that bout the dead”. Ace then went onto say how he used to listen to his music “back in the day” after Ak called him out for originally saying he didn’t. He even pointed out how Ace and Foolio used to be friends. But he shut that down, saying they weren’t really that tight, but that he did try to play some one-on-one basketball in Los Angeles. However, he claims Foolio turned down the offer. Overall, Ace was pretty all over the place, which seems to further highlight their checkered past.

Ab-Soul Says Redemption for Drake is ‘Not Off the Table’

Ab-Soul isn’t counting out Drake. Hitting X, Soul details that he thinks Drake can find a road to redemption by relying on his skills as an emcee.

“If Drake is the MC I imagine he can be,” Ab-Soul wrote. “Redemption is not off the table.”

He added one note, “But b4 my rant gets out of context. He could never Fucc wit da Gang’Nem on sum rap shyt. That was Never a question.”

Elsewhere, Akademiks has been Drake’s whisperer throughout the entire beef with Kendrick Lamar. So his next statement may be surprising: “The Drake stimulus package right now doesn’t exist.”

In case you don’t know what the Drake stimulus package is, it was the long-running belief that throwing Drake on someone’s album or single would result in an extra boost in the performance.

“I think, you know, no pun intended, Drake’s wings slightly feel clipped,” said Akademiks. “The Drake stimulus package right now doesn’t exist. So Drake going on Camilla Cabello’s track didn’t do nothing. That’s a fact.”

As evidence of his belief, Drake’s appearance on “Hot Uptown” only made it to No. 149 in its first week. You can hear it from Akademiks below.
