Top Celebrities Taking Over Twitch: How Stars Are Changing the Streaming Game

Top Celebrities Taking Over Twitch: How Stars Are Changing the Streaming Game

Not many know the story of the platform Twitch, and how it went full circle in a way. It started as Justin.tv, where anyone could stream what they were doing. However, the creators noticed how the gaming section was getting way more attention and started the streaming site called Twitch. This quickly became a social hub exclusively for gamers, and from it, a whole slew of internet celebrities rose. Now, Twitch is owned by Amazon and has a massive user base. What’s more, just like the original intention behind Justin.tv the streaming content has become more diverse.

People just chat with subscribers, comment on the latest events and developments, and some create exciting content by gambling. In fact, Twitch had a big impact on the gambling industry as it inspired live dealer games. According to experts from casinoofthekings.ca traffic on their project started to grow at the same time as Twitch launched a separate category for gambling and online casinos.

The Appeal of Twitch for Celebrities

Everyone is pretty much aware that most celebrities have teams of people in charge of their social media accounts. In other words, when you interact with your role models online chances are you are just talking to the members of their staff. That’s not the case with Twitch streaming.

Here you see the person, and you directly interact with them. That’s why both fans and celebrities love this platform. It helps them form a more genuine connection. Not only that but Twitch makes it easy to send money or make donations. So, if a celeb wants to run a charity event and help gather funds for a specific cause, Twitch is a perfect place to do so.

Not only that but Twitch can help celebrities reach more people. Maybe someone didn’t find them interesting based on their music or sports career. But now they get to know the other side of them and maybe re-evaluate the initial image they had of that person.

Celebrities Influencing Twitch Culture and Content

As stated, this platform started out as a social hub for gamers. Over the years they manage to attract socialites from other walks of life, and celebrities were an important factor in this change. Now there are several new categories that aren’t gaming-related:

  • IRL (In Real Life) – Category that features podcasts, live chatting, ASMR, sports, discussion on politics, and other more general topics.
  • Music and DJ – A category for music artists where they create new music and collaborate with fans. It’s a great way to get instant feedback and include followers in creative process.
  • Creative – Category for arts and crafts that is great for live tutorials.

Clearly, there is an intention here to attract more influencers from other spheres, in order to grow the number of active users. With more active users it’s easier to attract more sponsors who wish to advertise on the site.

Top Celebrities Making Waves on Twitch

Given their busy schedules, celebrities don’t stream as frequently or regularly like other top creators. But whenever they are online users definitely notice. Below are some notable examples.

Post Malone

As a young artist, Post Malone is adored by younger generations. In other words, many gamers love his songs. It comes as no surprise that when Post Malone starts to stream his channel lights up. He also plays very popular battle royale titles like Apex Legends. Not only that but he is genuinely good at it; he even reached the rank of diamond.

Snoop Dogg

Music made Snoop Dogg famous, but his success as an artist is only matched by his achievements as an entrepreneur. And to this day his portfolio of business ventures continues to expand. Back in 2023, he even launched a game studio with his son called Death Row Games, and Snoop has been involved with the industry for quite some time now.

Felicia Day

A lot of World of Warcraft players know Felica from the web series she created The Guild, but she was also in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and The Supernatural TV show. People who love narrative-driven games like God of War, and Last of US also love to watch Felicia on Twitch. She is very committed to gaming and does a full playthrough of these games.

Mike Shinoda

Before Linkin Park found its new lead singer, the co-founder Mike Shinoda saw Twitch as a home for his creative outlet. While on Twitch Mike connected with his community, played Valorant, and created new music. What’s more, he collaborated with Twitch to white label the music he created on stream so that his fans can freely use it.

Madison Beer

The number one reason Madison Beer started a Twitch channel was to promote her music or music projects. But even some of those music projects were gaming-related. For example, she played or sang as League of Legends’s Evelyn during K/DA concerts.

That said she does play games on her streams and easily attracts over 30,000 viewers. Madison plays indie releases like Only Up as well as some popular titles like Valorant and Fall Guys.

Impact on Twitch’s User Demographics

Obviously, celebrities help this platform grow further. They have a lot of star power and a fan base of devotees who are eager to socialize with them. It helped Twitch become more than just a place for gamers.

However, the core users of Twitch are still gamers, so the platform also helped these celebrities reach more people. As you can see, all of them played different games while on the stream, and many players who don’t necessarily know these celebrities will hop on to check out their stream. After all, the platform directs viewers to those channels that have the highest view count.

Of course, this is in a way bad for other content creators who are trying to make it and have a low number of followers. Now with celebrities streaming getting noticed will be even harder.

How Celebrity Involvement is Attracting Brands and Advertisers

There are many other celebrities who occasional stream T-Pain, Keke Palmer, Soulja Boy, Doja Cat, and Neymar Jr. to name a few. Unlike other social networks, Twitch is a place where streamers reply to messages in chat. These are all big names in their respective industries and that’s incredibly relevant for brands who want to advertise on Twitch.

Unlike with ads on YouTube, users have an incentive to stay on Twitch when the ads start to roll. The stream is happening right there and then, you can’t come back tomorrow or after a few hours and enjoy the same content. Ever since Twitch grew the ads campaign became more aggressive, which once again kills the discoverability of smaller creators. People just don’t want to sit that long and wait for ads to stop playing.

This isn’t the case with celebrity streams. These are high profile individuals and viewers look forward to interacting with them. So, even when ads are unskippable on these streams viewers will stick around. As a result, more brands who want to advertise on Twitch, especially during these streams.

Conclusion

To sum up, Twitch has drastically changed over the past decade and celebrities and influential internet personalities played a big role. It can be difficult to re-brand especially when your identity is so heavily centred around one hobby. Luckily, Twitch has managed to follow through and create a place that Justin.tv was meant to be. They did this thanks to a strong infrastructure for socializing, advertising and online donations.

In a way, whenever someone who is famous wants to connect with their fans and raise funds in the process, Twitch is the go-to option. The brand is visible and already has a big user base, and it has categories that invite creators from different niches.

J. Cole Teams With Daylyt For ‘A Plate Of Collard Greens,’ A Lyrical And Soulful New Single

J. Cole linked up with Daylyt earlier this year on his Might Delete Later cut “Pi.” Now, he has returned the favor: Yesterday (September 23), Daylyt dropped the Cole-featuring single “A Plate Of Collard Greens,” which is built off a soulful sample and see the two rappers putting the focus on the lyrics.

Cole works a few pop culture references into his verse, like when he nods to Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum: “And rated R regimes, exchanging raw for cream / Tricked ’em and went left, they pull up shootin’ like Tatum off a screen.” He also invokes Michael Jackson: “Dangerous as the king of pop, how well they spin your block / No moves, minimal, smooth criminals.”

He also raps about the experience of a poor and challenging childhood: “The bills is due, as kids we knew the way the calls would ring / Since mom ain’t paid ’em off, we trained to watch the names across the screen / And let collections pass just like we failed to make an offering / Gotta channel thoughts, cause damn, the cable off, it seems / Deep down, I hated Halloween, with all that I have seen / Who needs another way to cause a scream?”

The song is the latest in Cole’s recent run of collaborations, which has included songs with ASAP Rocky, Anderson. Paak and Cordae (as a producer), and Tems.

Ice Spice Settles “In Ha Mood” Lawsuit After Brooklyn Rapper Claims His Song Is “Strikingly Similar”

Ice Spice has reached a settlement agreement to end a copyright lawsuit regarding her hit song, “In Ha Mood.” Another rapper by the name of D.Chamberz had claimed that the track was “strikingly similar” to his own 2021 song, “In That Mood.” In federal court on Friday, attorneys for both sides confirmed their decision to settle, as caught by Billboard.

In the lawsuit, Chamberz had argued that his song earned “significant airplay” on radio stations in Spice’s hometown of New York City, including Hot 97 and Power 105.1. “By every method of analysis, ‘In Ha Mood’ is a forgery,” his attorneys wrote when filing the lawsuit back in January. “Any proper comparative analysis of the beat, lyrics, hook, rhythmic structure, metrical placement, and narrative context will demonstrate that ‘In Ha Mood’ was copied.”

He further argued that the similarities “cannot be purely coincidental” and boil down to “the core of each work.” In addition to Spice, the lawsuit named her frequent collaborator, producer RiotUSA (Ephrem Lopez, Jr.), as well as Universal Music Group, Capitol Records, and 10K Projects. All of the parties denied the allegations. Ice Spice first released “In Ha Mood” as a single ahead of her debut EP Like..? in 2023. It reached No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100

Spice is currently gearing up to continue performing on her Y2K! World Tour overseas next month. She’s got shows lined up in Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, and more cities through January. SZA’s Alien Get-Up For “Hot Ones” Has Fans Theorizing Its The Beginning Of Her Album Roll Out

SZA has been fending off new album demands for as long as she possibly can. Her acclaimed 2022 record SOS has tons of quality on it and its somehow still getting nominations in 2024. But her fans are ready for LANA, and we are too. However, some people may be getting a little too overzealous, at least right now anyway. According to Uproxx, the St. Louis native and First We Feast‘s show Hot Ones are getting ready to release their sit-down to YouTube in just a couple of days.

It is slated to premier on September 26, and while a SZA interview is always something special, fans seem to be more engaged with the promotional poster. The platform posted the preview to their Instagram and in it, she looks like an alien. It’s a pretty creepy sight, but going to back to that overzealous point, some see this as some sort of roll out for LANA. “OMG THE ERA IS STARTING”, one eagerly writes.

“We’re getting that album soon hopefully 😩”, another cautiously predicts. ““The ‘LANA’ tease”… “AND THE ROLLOUT BEGINS”, two others add. SZA was also in the comments and penned a cryptic but perhaps foreshadowing message in the process, “Fun times at the pain farm ❤”. All we can do is speculate for now, but hopefully, we get some album updates in the process.

What are your thoughts on SZA looking like an alien for her upcoming appearance on Hot Ones? Do you think this is straight up odd, or is it her teasing her next project? Are you going to tune in to the episode? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Diddy Predicted Arrest For His Infamous Parties In 1999 Interview

Diddy is going to be trending for maybe the rest of the year if people continue to dig up old clips. According to AllHipHop, pop culture account Pop Base has just dusted off a 1999 interview in which Diddy is once again talking about his parties. This ET sit-down is really trippy due to the fact that the music mogul pretty much predicts his future. “They won’t even give me a permit for the parties, man. They don’t want me to throw the parties no more. But we ain’t gon’ stop. We gon’ keep having fun, bringing people together from all walks of life”, he begins.

“You’re gonna hear about my parties, they’re gonna be shutting them down, they gon’ probably be arresting me, doing all types of crazy things just ‘cuz we want to have a good time”. He even goes on to say that people who aren’t really in the know are a little put off by them. “It’s a lot of people out there that feel intimidated”, Diddy explains. However, he continues to say in the interview that they are there to bring people together “from all walks of life”.

Diddy Talking About His Parties With ET 25 Years Ago

This 25-year-old recording is still very jaw-dropping, but not as bad as his 2002 appearance on Conan O’Brien’s show. In that chat, Diddy creepily detailed all of the essentials that make up his infamous parties. “You need some water… a lot of ladies drink water at parties so if you don’t have what they need then they gon’ leave… gotta keep ’em there… You need locks on the doors… you don’t have no air conditioning… Heat affects the alcohol, it also makes everybody get a little more comfortable and loose. It builds up a nice little sweat”. Diddy was really not doing himself any favors back in the day.

What are your thoughts on Diddy talking about potentially getting arrested for his parties in 1999? Is it wild to see how many times this current ongoing story was foreshadowed? What do you think is going to happen to Diddy? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Diddy. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the world of music.

Diddy Is Stuck At “Horrific” Jail As His Lawyer Reveals Nothing More Can Be Done

Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, is giving up on getting the Bad Boy mogul out of the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after his appeal failed, last week. In a court filing obtained by AllHipHop, the attorney explained that, at this point, there’s nothing left that can be done until further notice. He had previously requested that his client at least be moved to Essex County after being unable to get him out on bail. The rapper’s legal team had described the conditions at MDC Brooklyn as “horrific.”

“Following the September 18, 2024 court appearance, the court ordered a status update from counsel concerning any request related to the location of Mr. Combs’ detention,” his lawyer Marc Agnifilo wrote. “At this point, there is no request from counsel that the court take any action.”

Authorities arrested Diddy, last week, sharing a 14-page federal indictment against him. “For decades, Sean Combs … abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct,” the indictment read. “To do so, Combs relied on the employees, resources and influence of the multi-faceted business empire that he led and controlled—creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.” He’s since pleaded not guilty and has denied all of the allegations.

At the Brooklyn jail, Diddy is currently on suicide watch, although Agnifilo has clarified that the move is standard procedure for new, high-profile inmates. R. Kelly, Jeffrey Epstein, and more celebrities have stayed there in the past. Be on the lookout for further updates on Diddy on HotNewHipHop.
