Drake Trolls Ben Da Donn In Comment Section Of His Instagram Freestyle

Ben Da Donn and Drake have been cool for years. The comedian and the rapper have frequently crossed paths and made fun of each other in the process. The latest interaction between the duo is no different. Ben Da Donn decided to drop a freestyle on his Instagram. The caption made it clear that he was riffing on a trend of rappers hopping onto classic instrumentals. That said, Drake didn’t let him off the hook. He proceeded to clown Be Da Donn in the comment section for trying to generate attention.

The caption Ben Da Donn posted with his freestyle is important to note. “When rappers go do freestyles and ruin classic instrumentals,” he wrote. Harmless enough, right? Drake couldn’t help himself, though, and told Ben he was trying too hard. “Pick me a*s caption,” the rapper commented. “Oh when your raps are sooooooo bad over a classic hahah right ya’ll??? Right???? Comment below if I’m a*s ya’ll.” Drake’s comment received over 2K likes and remains the top comment on Ben Da Donn’s post. Still, there’s no issues between Drizzy and Ben Da Donn.

Drake Gave Ben Da Donn Grief For Being A ‘Pick Me’

If anything, Ben Da Donn has been one of Drake’s most vocal supporters in 2024. The comedian made fun of Rick Ross for dropping the Drake diss “Champagne Moments,” and behaving immaturely during their entire feud. “Imagine being 50sum tambout ‘AND THATS WHY I UNFOLLOWED YOU,” he jokingly wrote. Rick Ross didn’t take kindly to the comment, and proceeded to tell Ben Da Donn to wash the bottom of his yacht. Not the most clever response, but a response nonetheless.

A Drake Instagram comment isn’t super common, but we do know the rapper has been on Instagram. He’s continued to release new footage on his burner account. The most notable of which, was a studio session in which him and 40 talk about prepping a collab track with Kendrick Lamar. The collab never came to fruition, but its inclusion feels pointed on the part of Drake. Toronto’s very own might want to redirect focus to music, though. The rapper was recently accused of not clearing a sample for one of hist recent singles. He also had to omit Playboi Carti from the streaming version of “No Face.”

Dame Dash Challenges 50 Cent To “CEO War” Involving Their TV Networks

Dame Dash is a mogul. He’s never pitched himself as a rapper, as evidenced by the song “I Am Dame Dash” where he raps about not being able to rap. We digress. Dash is someone who flexes on ops with business. This is why he decided to challenge 50 Cent on the business front. The former Roc-A-Fella boss told 50 to put his money where his mouth is, with regards to his TV network. He went as far as to say that his network would outperform 50’s in direct competition.

You might be asking why. As with most feuds involving 50 Cent, 50 Cent started it. The rapper claimed that Dame Dash “has no money now” during an episode of the Million Dollarz Worth of Game podcast. Dash caught wind of this, and decided to clap back on Instagram. “Somebody definitely sent me that cute sh*t 50 said about me not having no money,” Dash confirmed. “I feel like now me and 50 should have a battle, and no gangster sh*t…. That would be whack and corny for the culture.” The alternative Dame Dash proposed was a “CEO War.”

Dame Dash Tried To Get 50 To Buy Roc-A-Fella Shares

Dash wants to see which hip hop businessman has their pulse on the culture. “He’s in the television network business now,” he asserted. “Let’s do CEO War… “I’m going to drop my network. And what I’m going to do is also drop a new original American movie.” Dash then urged 50 Cent to drop a movie on his network, so the two could directly compete. The businessman didn’t stop there. He used the opportunity to goad 50 into purchasing the 33% stake in Roc-A-Fella Records. Dame Dash has been ordered to sell off his share of the legendary label, but has been unable to find a buyer that suits his price range.

Dame Dash decided to try and kill two birds with one stone when it came to challenging 50 Cent. “Where you at? It’s still for sale,” Dash explained. “The starting price was 1.2. Now it’s 3 million. And if you got it like you say it, buy it. I challenge you.” Given how much trouble Dash has had selling off his 33%, we can’t blame him. That said, 50 Cent has enough going on to not have to worry about beef with Dame Dash.

Doechii Surprises Fans By Unveiling Her New Male Alter Ego Richardo

Doechii is a true hip hop original. She’s been putting music out for years, but her latest release has proven to be her breakthrough. Fans can’t seem to get enough of Alligator Bites Never Heal, and the attention Doechii has gotten has been well deserved. Instead of adhering to a traditional “star” mold, though, the rapper has remained as eccentric as ever. Case in point, the cover of Paper Magazine, in which Doechii can be seen rocking an afro, mustache, and fake abs. Meet Richardo.

Richardo is an alter ego of Doechii’s. The rapper talked about the origins of the character, and how it’s helped her communicate her art. She told Paper Magazine that she invented Richardo as a response to the negative things people would say about her appearance. “I started seeing comments from people who would say, ‘She looks like a man,’” Doechii recalled. “I was like, Since they keep saying I look like a man, I’m gonna f*cking give them a man. An eight-pack, mustache man.” The rapper said that she had lots of fun creating the character, and providing him with a backstory. “He’s from Panama, he’s bisexual,” Doechii asserted. “We came up with Ricardo.”

The rapper has always been fascinated by personas and alter egos. She described herself as a “theater kid” who used different characters to better understand her own feelings. “I want to make sure I can really give different characters,” Doechii asserted. ” I think that’s so important in telling stories.” She also joked about Richardo’s appearance. The rapper told Paper Magazine that the makeup turned out even better than she anticipated. “Literally, when I put on the prosthetics,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Oh my god.”

Richardo may get most of the outward attention, being on the cover and all. That said, Doechii goes into detail about the ways in which she herself possesses different personas. “I’m alternative, kind of nerdy, super sexy,” she listed off. “Kind of awkward, conscious, but also I’m twerking and a*s-shaking.” It’s the same unpredictable blend that made her TDE debut such a critical success. Doechii admits she doesn’t know where her music is headed. However, that’s part of what keeps her excited about the creative process.

Big Sean’s New Album Is Projected To Be Lowest-Selling Of His Career

Big Sean went through a lot to get his new album made. The rapper poured his blood, sweat and tears into Better Me Than You, and fans could tell. The album was packed with introspective songwriting and uplifting sounds. Unfortunately, the uplifting elements have not applied to album sales. Hip Hop By the Numbers released the projected first week sales for Better Me Than You, and they are not good. In fact, they will mark the lowest-selling first week of Big Sean’s entire career.

Big Sean’s latest album is projected to sell less than 24K in its first week. Statistically, these numbers will put him outside of the top 20 on the Billboard 200 charts. Still high, right? Well, not for Big Sean. Despite not being considered “Big Three” caliber, Sean has been a steady commercial force throughout his entire career. His first four albums all topped the hip hop charts, and his third album, Dark Sky Paradise (2015), managed to top the Billboard 200. To date, none of Sean’s studio albums have charted lower than three. Better Me Than You will be lucky to crack 20.

Big Sean Will Debut Outside Of Top 3 For The First Time

There are, of course, lots of variables at play here. Big Sean hasn’t released an album in four years. Said album, Detroit 2, was not the commercial success that its predecessors were. It was eventually certified Gold, but it lacked a hit single. Better Me Than You has the same problem with even more distance from Sean’s last hit. None of the three lead singles from the album charted on Billboard. Big Sean clearly had more of an album statement in mind, but it still stands to reason that a viral hit would have done a lot to boost his sales.

It’s also worth noting that rap albums have consistently underperformed in 2024. Unless your name is Travis Scott, you are struggling to sell records. Mustard way underperformed when he put out Faith of a Mustard Seed in July. He sold only 18K copies, despite having a stellar roster of guest stars and the after glow of a Kendrick Lamar-assisted number one. Mustard’s partner in crime, YG, fared even worse. Just Re’d Up 3 sold only 8K first week, which is massively down from the rapper usual Billboard numbers. It’s a rough patch that the genre hopefully gets out of.

Adin Ross Previewed An Unreleased Song By Drake And Lil Durk, And Drake Raps About Quitting Lean

In August, Drake leaned into unconventionally releasing music with a couple of archival “100 Gigs” dumps. A few days before that, Lil Yachty sent Kai Cenat his unreleased song with Drake for Cenat to leak on his livestream because “SOD (Supersoak)” can’t have an official release.

On Wednesday night, September 4, Drake and Lil Durk turned to another popular streamer. Adin Ross previewed an unreleased Drake and Durk song being referred to as “Discontinuing Wokhardt” on his livestream. Several X (formerly Twitter) accounts, such as Complex, have captured and circulated Ross’ livestream.

According to Genius, Drake raps (or sing-raps), “Discontinuing Wockhardt / What seal do I pop now? / What seal do I pop now? / What seal do I pop now? / You know that the Act’ gone, I can’t get no Wok now.”

Afterward, Ross said, “Wait, I just realized — why’d they have me preview that? Is it because I was on lean? I’m not on lean no more. And how does The Boy know about — yeah, nah, he’s tapped in. Damn, that was hard.”

Wockhardt is a pharmaceutical company associated with manufacturing codeine and promethazine, a combination meant to treat cough and cold symptoms. It’s also known as “lean” or “sizzurp” when abused as a drug.

Adam22 Clowns Joe Budden’s Rap Career In No Jumper Cypher: Watch

Adam22 is a podcaster by trade and a clout chaser by instinct. He knows what will generate views, and has been immensely successful at doing so. His approach has garnered criticism from other huge names in the rap podcast space, however. Joe Budden being chief among them. Adam22 and Budden do not get along, and the former decided to address their tension during the new No Jumper Cypher. Not only does Adam poke fun at Budden’s podcasting career, but he tears down his rap achievements as well.

It’s worth noting that Adam22 raps part of his “verse” with a flower beanie on his head. This is not to be taken seriously, and everybody involved knows it. Still, the podcaster gets his shots off. “Pump It Up the last time I heard Joe rap,” Adam22 spits. “That old a*s throwback finally got its Gold plaque… yall is only podcasting cause you got no other option.” He also throws in a dig about his podcasting ops being bums and “unable to eat at Sizzler.” Again, not a wordsmith by any means. Adam22 put out the verse knowing it would elicit attention from the hip hop community. And sure enough, it did.

Joe Budden Responded To Adam22’s Bars With Laughter

Joe Budden responded to the No Jumper Cypher shortly after its release. He took it about as well as one could, which is to say, he laughed it off. “Lol… Adam aside, it’s tough out here for a lot of folks,” he wrote. “Do everything you can.” Budden’s comments align with previous criticisms that he’s made about Adam and his approach to the culture as a whole. Budden feels as though Adam22 exploits hip hop for his own benefit without paying mind to the young artists he exploits. We’d list out the conflicts that the two men have had over the years, but we’d be need about 10,000 more words. It seems like they get on each other’s nerves every few months.

In May, Joe Budden claimed that he would wipe the floor with Adam22 in a fist fight. He didn’t try to be cute with his answer, either. He straight up told his co-hosts that he would demolish the other podcast titan. “I’d beat the dog sh*t out of Adam,” Budden stated. “I don’t even know if he has a dog. He would be tattoo-less.” Adam’s cypher is just the latest instance of shots being fired. It isn’t the first time, and it sure won’t be the last.
