Joe Budden Criticizes How Yung Miami Spoke On JT, The City Girls & Diddy On “Caresha Please”

Yung Miami’s new Caresha Please episode kicked off the podcast’s second season with a bang as Saucy Santana asked her about the Diddy controversy, the City Girls breakup, and why she stayed relatively silent on those issues. This is especially the case as it relates to Sean Combs, as the Florida rapper previously spoke briefly on her relationship with JT and the status of their duo. But on The Joe Budden Podcast, its titular host questioned the difference in how Miami speaks about her former rap partner versus how she speaks on her former romantic and business partner. Specifically, he seems to think that she threw her fellow lyricist under the bus with previous statements, and was not as quick to point out issues that she had with the Bad Boy mogul both in business and in their personal lives.

Check out the clip below, which sees Joe Budden mostly talk about the bizarre dynamic that the City Girls displayed before their split, Yung Miami’s comments on JT, and some brief words about how Miami boasted about increasing Diddy’s motion. While this might be an overly critical stance for some, it’s not an uncommon one online. For example, DJ Akademiks chose a different critical angle about this new Caresha Please episode that has more to do with his perception of her relationship with Puff Daddy. That take deals more with issues of image, self-respect, beauty, and toxic interpersonal dynamics, but just like Budden’s, people will have understandable reasons to push back on it.

Joe Budden’s Thoughts On Yung Miami’s Caresha Please Season 2 Premiere

“If she was trying to save face she could have did it a long time ago,” Saucy Santana shared online to defend Yung Miami amid this and other criticisms. “You can’t get mad at someone about their truth. Whatever happened to [someone else in the] past, we don’t neglect that, we don’t say that it didn’t happen, and we don’t condone it.”

Meanwhile, this is what Yung Miami herself had to say about backlash to this Caresha Please episode. “I knew the interview would be 50/50 but I feel good telling my truth!” she expressed on Twitter. “I’m about to go outside and have a ball I deserve it see yall later :).” “I can’t hear you b***hes!” Miami captioned a picture of her holding up two stacks of cash to her ears.

Drake & Chubbs’ Posts About Team USA & Steph Curry Further Fuel LeBron James Beef Rumors

We don’t know how we got to caring about whether or not super famous men are salty with one another… But here we are after a rap beef that absolutely took over pop culture. Moreover, as a result of his Kendrick Lamar battle, you might have heard that Drake is allegedly beefing with LeBron James, or at least, that’s what a lot of social media-obsessed fans think even after LBJ himself seemed to dismiss these rumors. The reason? Well, those on the gossip train theorize that it’s because the basketball star attended K.Dot’s “The Pop Out” concert and basically supported his music but also had praise for Drizzy’s competitive efforts.

The latest piece of “evidence” concerning Drake and LeBron James’ alleged falling out comes after Team USA’s victory over France for the gold medal in men’s basketball for the 2024 Olympics, a game that went down on Saturday (August 10). The 6ix God took to his “plot twist” Finsta account, responsible for his 100 GIGS drop, to post a picture of longtime OVO fan Steph Curry hitting his signature “sleep” pose (sorry if there’s another name for it) during the game. Aubrey Graham’s bodyguard Chubbs, another player in the Kendrick Lamar battle, also omitted LeBron from his Instagram congratulations for the team, instead congratulating Steph, Kevin Durant, and Jayson Tatum.

Drake & Chubbs Have Fans Thinking They’re Shading LeBron James

While LeBron James’ own Instagram activity suggested that he has no issues with Drake, it’s still up in the air whether that’s a two-way street or not. Also, it’s curious because during a recent GQ Sports profile, Steph Curry made it clear that he’s still rocking with the MC who shouted him out on “0 To 100.” “I’m a big Drake guy,” he remarked. “I’ve been for a long time. I think obviously you know what it is for the rap industry to have that, but I still rock with Drake. Absolutely. Absolutely.”

Also, we know that Steph Curry and LeBron James feel very differently about Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss track against Drake. LeBron still loves it, and Steph is ready for the hype to end. Will this alleged beef ever clear up or will we never hear of it again? Time will tell…

DJ Akademiks Downplays Yung Miami’s Diddy Comments On “Caresha Please”

The Season 2 premiere of Caresha Please, Yung Miami’s podcast with interviewing duties courtesy of Saucy Santana for this first episode, held some long-awaited and divisive comments on her relationship with Diddy. In case you somehow don’t know, the Bad Boy mogul faced various accusations and lawsuits alleging sexual assault, abuse, harassment, sex trafficking, and other crimes over the past few months. The Florida rapper spoke on why she was silent during this influx and on her experiences and eventual break-up concerning Sean Combs. But sadly, not everyone is sympathetic to her story. DJ Akademiks, for example, insinuated during his latest livestream that Miami let herself go too far in this situation and did not respect herself enough, suggesting that she was only interested in superficial optics and relationship fare and eventually faced the consequences for it.

“With all due respect, you are a pretty girl,” DJ Akademiks’ comments on the former City Girl began. “But there’s a lot of pretty girls. Beauty, especially seeing all these girls get lip fillers, they’re wearing fake hair. That ain’t their hair, right? They get some implants, they put their t***ies up to their neck.

DJ Akademiks Speaks On Yung Miami’s Recent Diddy Revelations

“Like, it’s easy to create the idea of beauty that a man would be appealed by,” DJ Akademiks continued concerning Yung Miami. “So what makes you special? Is it because you have some fame? No, Diddy’s messed with way more famous women than you. He had J. Lo, for God’s sakes. What makes you special? I’m going to tell you. If you disagree with me, it’s because you don’t know no n***as in the industry. Because I talk to these n***as. Like, what is it about this girl?

“You know what they say?” DJ Akademiks concluded. “A chick like Yung Miami… She do everything. Put it like this: self-respect is the kryptonite of rich n***as. Women: self-respect is the kryptonite of rich n***as. They don’t want to be around you when you’re saying, ‘Ah, I’m not doing that.’ The women who are in the game, they know this, too. If you want to get in the game, first, you got to hit that plateau of how good you look. Once you’re above the bar on how good you look, how far you go with these men in the industry will revolve around how little you say ‘No.’”

Latto’s ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea’ Album Release Party Featured A Giant NSFW Inflatable Replica Of The Rapper’s Georgia Peach

Uproxx cover star Latto’s celebration of Atlanta is on full display. Yesterday (August 9), the “Big Mama” rapper invited fans to attend her Sugar Honey Iced Tea album release party at an Atlanta cultural staple.

While attendees were forming special moments inside of Cascade, it is the skating rink’s entryway that truly stole the show. Just as guests made their way into the space, a giant inflatable of Latto’s butt was seen towering over all who dared to walk by. Supporters immediately took to social media to share clips of the blow-up (view on example here).

The creation was impressively accurate as far as replicas go. It even included a modified version of Latto’s infamous leopard panties (that nearly racked in six figures on eBay). However, there was one notable adjustment to the inflatable—two hard to miss tattoos. As to not get the figure confused with anyone else, the maker embroidered Latto’s name on each cheek.

Inside the party, Latto kept it modest, dressed in a red halter top, Apple Bottoms jeans, and sneakers as she pulled inspiration from Lauren London’s ATL character New New.

There are infinite ways to promote an album, but an inflatable of your Georgia peach by far takes the cake.

Kanye West Enjoys Listening Party With Ty Dolla $ign, North West & More As Fans Still Worry Over Alleged Nitrous Addiction

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES 2 rollout obviously has been a very hectic and controversial one, but it still contains many of the elements we expected. A release event hit the horizon, and a listening party in Utah featuring both artists and a host of special guests captivated many fans in attendance. Some highlights: updated versions to select VULTURES 2 tracks like a changed “FOREVER” verse, appearances from Ye’s daughters Chicago and North, live debuts of long-awaited grails like “CAN U BE,” and a whole lot more. But there’s a darker story brewing in the backdrop.

On various social media pages, including clips below and many other Twitter and Instagram discussions, Kanye West fans want the media to do better. Specifically, some pages that haven’t talked about the recent story involving his alleged nitrous addiction now face the wrath of angry comments sections. If you didn’t know about it beforehand but came across any recent Ye content on social media, then you’re definitely going to learn about it. It speaks to how fans are very concerned for his health and well-being these days, although much of this story is still alleged and speculative.

As such, we don’t really know to what extent this alleged nitrous addiction is real, who is to blame, how it’s supposedly affecting Kanye West, and whether it could explain – or be held accountable in regard to – his abhorrent controversies over the past few years. This mystery is partly what fuels fans’ advocacy for the media to address it and hopefully lead to proper care, support, and accountability. Still, take it all with a grain of salt, especially as the Chicago artist hasn’t said anything on the matter at press time.

Perhaps a statement from him could illuminate the situation, but until then, it’s harmful to speculate too far. VULTURES 2 was not as commercially successful as its predecessor, but the album arguably marks an even more important historical moment for Kanye West. His most hardcore fans are working through a lot of narratives: the quality of his music, his health, his bigotry, and their compliance in all of that to varying degrees. Hopefully, the concern will eventually overshadow the spectacle and Ye can prioritize himself rather than his celebrity status or career, or at least clarify whether or not this addiction story is real.

Today In Hip Hop History: Chris Lighty’s Violator Records ‘Violator: The Album’ Turns 25 Years Old!

On this day in hip-hop history 25 years ago, the management company and label imprint Violator released their first compilation album, entitled Violator: The Album. Showcasing the management team’s star-studded talent roster, this album is full of rarities, making it a must-have for any self-proclaimed “Hip Hop head.”

For those out of the loop, Violator was a multi-dimensional entertainment conglomerate run by Chris Lighty until his untimely passing on August 30, 2012. Thriving mainly from 1999 to the early 2000s, Violator represented some of Hip Hop’s most known titans including Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Missy Elliot, Nas, Mya, 50 Cent, Mobb Deep and LL Cool J to name a few.

Violator: The Album was the first release from Violator Records, in collaboration with Def Jam. Due to Chris Lighty and Violator’s expansive resources, this album was jam-packed with talent from all sides of Hip Hop. With production handled by The Beatnuts, DJ Scratch, Diamond D, Havoc, Q-Tip, and Swizz Beatz, it is hard to dispute that this album is not one of the best-produced projects of 1999; and, as prolific as the production team for this album may be, it still in no way outshines the artist performances. With features from Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Mobb Deep, Ja Rule, Hot Boys, Noreaga, Fat Joe, Big Pun, 8Ball, and Cam’ron, this album can be considered one of the best-orchestrated compilation tapes to date.

Commercially, the album was quite successful, peaking at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop chart. The project sold very well and was certified gold within one month of its release.

Regardless of its sales or star roster, what makes this album a piece of Hip Hop history is the first single released from the project, A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip’s solo debut. “Vivrant Thing,” which peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 was released in promotion for Q-Tip’s debut solo LP Amplified. This track marked the evolution of Q-Tip’s career, marking his transition to independence.

Following the success of this album, Violator went on to release a sequel two years prior. Violator: The Album 2.0 had a similar response but failed to be as popular as its predecessor.

Team USA Wins Gold In Olympic Basketball Final Against France

After months and, to be frank, years of build-up, speculation, hard work, and determination, the United States of America just earned their fifth-straight Olympic gold medal in men’s basketball after defeating the Victor Wembanyana-led French team 98 to 87 on Saturday (August 10). Moreover, this team comprised of LeBron James, Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker, Bam Adebayo, Joel Embiid, and more superstars were heavy favorites to win, but most importantly, they and their opponents gave some truly great displays of the game. Steph Curry, in his first Olympic appearance, clutched some staggering shots across this game and previous ones, pushing his team to victory.

Another big name to mention in all this is Kevin Durant, who became the first player to win four gold medals in men’s Olympic basketball history. Along with being the highest point-scorer in U.S. Olympic history, this sets him apart as among the most decorated, if not the most decorated, U.S. basketball player ever at these events. Of course, once you go on Twitter to take a look at highlights, a lot of people are deservedly giving KD’s former Warriors teammate his due flowers. But everyone on Team USA (sorry, Kawhi) should be very proud of what they achieved in Paris this year.

Team USA Men’s Basketball Wins 2024 Olympic Gold And KD Shines As An Olympian

Elsewhere, the Olympics have been a pretty interesting affair beyond the hype for Team USA Basketball… and if you’re a hip-hop fan, they’ve been pretty divisive. Breakdancing made its debut as an Olympic event this year, and some of the showcases (in particular, some viral moves from Australian representative Raygun) were… Is embarrassing the right word? It’s funny because there were some really great breakdancers there, and it’s great to see the tradition represented at this massive global scale. But its separation from hip-hop and Black culture at large at these events, plus the less-than-impressive performances, make it a tougher pill to swallow.

Well, at least Snoop Dogg was there to represent the culture, too. Nevertheless, if you’re a basketball fan, and even if you’re a Team USA hater, there were some great moments to witness during the 2024 Olympics. Congratulations to Curry and company for their victory, and to all the teams for giving it their all. Will France come back in four years’ time, will the U.S. keep their dominance, or will a new challenger like Serbia challenge for gold? We shall see…

Jay-Z Files Notice About Future “Reasonable Doubt” Rights Before Dame Dash Auction

Dame Dash had been trying to sell his Roc-A-Fella shares for some time, but earlier this month, it was revealed that the U.S. Marshall would publicly auction off his 33.3% interest in the company. The auction is scheduled for later this month, according to TMZ, and it looks like Jay-Z is getting prepared. Recently, the hitmaker’s attorneys filed a notice that the rights to his 1996 album Reasonable Doubt will switch from Roc-A-Fella to Shawn Carter come 2031.

The outlet also notes that the rights would have gone back to Jay-Z 35 years after the album’s release anyway. The filing simply makes it official. This means that whoever ends up winning the auction later this month will get one-third of Reasonable Doubt revenue for only about six years. The minimum bid is $1.2 million.

Anyone interested in the auction has been encouraged to email Christopher Brown, Josh Webber’s attorney. Webber and Muddy Waters Pictures won a massive civil suit against Dash back in 2022 over defamation and copyright infringement. He’s accused of telling people he owned the rights to the film Dear Frank, which Webber and Muddy Waters Pictures produced, despite having been dropped from the project. Reportedly, the auction is intended to cover the judgment.

Again, this comes after Dame Dash unsuccessfully tried to sell his Roc-A Fella shares for years. Last month, Lupe Fiasco even hopped online to suggest that Drake buy them. What do you think of Jay-Z filing a notice that the rights to Reasonable Doubt will be his in 2031? What about them going up for auction later this month to cover a civil suit judgment? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Kendrick Lamar Breaks This Diss Track Streaming Record With “Not Like Us”

The beef that refused to die just keeps on making Kendrick Lamar and Drake more money, and they don’t even have to outright reference it for that narrative to create all the more interest in their music. For example, Drizzy’s new 100 GIGS drop recently placed him over Kendrick in Spotify monthly listening numbers, which K.Dot had dethroned him for due to the streaming success of cuts like “Euphoria,” “Like That”… and, of course, “Not Like Us.” The Toronto superstar has a massive fanbase that was going to eat his stuff up either way, but the battle has more casual fans as well as ardent haters hanging onto every word more so than usual.

As for Kendrick Lamar, his numbers have always been great, but they’ve never been as much of a direct and disrespectful challenge until the aforementioned West Coast banger dropped. Now, a song that makes its PDF-file allegations crystal clear and clowns Drake for being a conniving colonizer that should go fetch Gatorade for the real players is making almost as many numbers as either artist’s most accessible and widely palatable material. In fact, “Not Like Us” recently surpassed Tupac’s “Hit ‘Em Up” as the most streamed diss track of all time; while only the Spotify numbers show up here, they most likely indicate activity across all major platforms.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Is The Most Streamed Diss Track Of All Time

Not only that, but it will likely rival some of Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s biggest hits numbers-wise when it’s all said and done. It’s also ironic but oddly fitting that “Not Like Us” surpassed a Tupac classic as the most streamed diss track of all time. After all, ‘Pac played a more integral role in this battle than many might have expected at its onset thanks to A.I. vocal manipulations, lyrical references, and arguments over The Boy’s purchase of his ring.

Meanwhile, there are still some people out there who were saddened by this whole battle, including the legendary André 3000. Maybe they would rather live in a world in which cuts like “Tuscan Leather” or “The Art Of Peer Pressure” get the frenzied streaming love that “Push Ups” and “Not Like Us” have. But we can’t deny the sheer quality of these battle tracks, and neither can a lot of fans out there. So whether you’re a Drake fan who refused to like the song to begin with or a Kendrick Lamar fan who’s already tired of it… it looks like you’re going to have to step this way and then step that way for a while longer.
