Drake & Lil Yachty’s New Song Draws Mixed Reactions

Drake might be coming back with new music soon. After a first half of 2024 that the Toronto rapper would probably like to forget, it seems that he’s trying to get himself back on track. Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat previewed a new Drake song, featuring frequent collaborator Lil Yachty. Cenat and Drake are friends, with Cenat often supporting his new music by playing it on streams. Drake shouted him out on the track “First Person Shooter” with J. Cole, though not by name.

Drake and Yachty have collaborated a lot in recent years. Yachty appeared on the For All The Dogs track “Another Late Night,” released last year. Yachty also has production credits on For All The Dogs and the Grammy-nominated Her Loss, Drake’s joint album with 21 Savage. Drake cited Yachty’s influence as why For All The Dogs became what it did. Fans had a lot to say about the new snippet, which is currently untitled.

“Man Drake saving the summer once again,” said one Instagram user. Another took the new snippet as an opportunity to make fun of Kendrick Lamar fans. “Meanwhile Kenny fans still listening to that burnt out ahh track,” the user said. If nothing else, Stephen Curry agrees with Lamar’s hit “Not Like Us” being “burnt out.” Some fans did not want to hear Yachty appear on the song. “Nahhhh we didn’t need lil boat on this one,” and “Song is fire without yachty part!!” said two other users. Lil Yachty has often divided opinion, and this latest snippet is no different.

Drake has done two joint albums in the past. First was What A Time To Be Alive, his hit album with Future and Metro Boomin that took 2015 by storm. In 2022, he released the aforementioned Her Loss with 21 Savage, which was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Considering Drake and Yachty’s recent history, a joint album between those two next does not seem like an unlikely destination. Are you here for a collaborative album between the two? Will that get Drake’s career back on track? Sound off in the comments.

Iggy Azalea Shades Playboi Carti While Labeling Herself A “Single Mother”

Iggy Azalea seemingly dissed her ex, Playboi Carti, during a recent appearance on the Dinner’s On Me podcast, during which she discussed parenthood. In doing so, she labeled herself a “single mother” despite sharing her son with the Whole Lotta Red rapper. The two welcomed their son, Onyx, back in 2020.

“I’m very much a single mother,” Azalea explained of their situation. “I’m very much the only parent, no disrespect, but yes, I am not co-parenting really, and that’s just the reality of it. It’s one, it’s 24/7.” Later in the interview, she continued to discuss how being a mother has impacted her lifestyle.

“I no longer want to be traveling around everywhere, I want to take my son to school. I want him to have memories with me and give him that time,” she said. “It’s really important to me. I owe my success in large part to my mother because she spent so much time with me and she just really gassed me up and made me think I was a superwoman genius, dancer extraordinaire, painter extraordinaire, chef, whatever it was. And it’s important to me, even when my son’s only 4, that I know I’m there, instilling that confidence in him and just helping guide him.” She concluded: “It’s my job as a parent. I think if you’re going to have a child, you should be prepared to do that and engage in that way. And I really want to. I toured two years with my son on a bus and it was time for that to end.”

Joe Budden Reveals Why He’s In No Rush To Hear Eminem’s “The Death Of Slim Shady”

Earlier this month, Eminem finally unveiled his eagerly anticipated new album, The Death Of Slim Shady. So far, the project has received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. While some think it’s some of Em’s best work yet, others are unimpressed. One person fans have been waiting to hear from is Joe Budden, who typically never fails to weigh in on releases as big as this one. In a new episode of his podcast, however, he revealed that he hadn’t listened to the album yet for a few different reasons.

“I will eventually listen to this, but I haven’t yet. I ain’t thought about it yet… Maybe my life is litter than you guys’ is. In my younger years, I couldn’t imagine a day where I didn’t run to an Eminem project — excluding him dissing me [on] Kamikaze,” he explained. “An Eminem project, you rush to it. I know where he stands as an MC. I know what he does. [But] I didn’t feel that urgency with this. It has nothing to do with him or with music.”

Joe Budden Says He’s Never Been Into “The Funny Sh*t”

“I don’t care about none of the Slim Shady sh*t. I don’t care about f*cking Jennifer Aniston or whoever he’s dissing, f*cking Nick Storm, Nick Fury, or whoever he’s dissing,” Budden continued. “For me, Slim Shady helped me to live and stay alive and deal with depression. Back then, that’s what he did for me… I was never into the funny sh*t, but he caught one with that, ‘Guess who’s back, back again.’ I liked that one. But other than that […] I’ma check out the Em album, but I felt good that I have outgrown the urgency of having to rush to it.”

Cordae & Lil Wayne Keep It A Buck On Stellar “Saturday Mornings”

Cordae continues to be one of hip-hop’s more underrated characters. It might have something to do with how his first couple of years in the industry went. He was originally a member of the YBN group, but since departing, it seems like that era doesn’t even exist anymore. Now, he is one of the more respectable word smiths in game, which is what Cordae further proves on “Saturday Mornings”. This is his first single since the August 2023 track, “Make Up Your Mind”. Before that was the catchy pop rap cut with Anderson .Paak, “Two Tens”. All three of the tracks have a great chance of landing on Cordae’s third studio LP, The Crossroads.

According to Genius, the North Carolina MC announced that this project is coming along nicely in a recent interview with Apple Music. However, a concrete release date is still up in the air at this point. “Saturday Mornings” features the likes of Lil Wayne, someone who he has worked with once before on a 2022 record called “Sinister”. Comparing these two side-by-side, we feel that “Saturday Mornings” might be the stronger one of the two. From the extremely soulful production to the rappers’ effortless change in tone, this song has it all. The pen game is also on point, as Cordae and Weezy have some great messages about wanting to be around authentic people in life, but also in the rap industry.

“Saturday Mornings”- Cordae & Lil Wayne

Quotable Lyrics:

My penmanship what ya pay me
It’s time to get the bacon, this shit is biscuits and gravy
Time to break fast, to keep it real, how long the fake last
New year, same goals, stay out the way and make cash
The competition, damn, we wave past
I need more real love and less fake laughs, huh

Get back home. You got the greatest woman in the world. You have a family.’” The two have been together for over 30 years.

JID’s Manager Jokes His Album Is Never Coming Out After Getting Some Advice From TDE’s Punch

Dreamville fans have been impatiently awaiting the release of JID’s fourth album, Forever & A Day, for almost two years now, after JID announced it in August 2022. Since then, he’s projected and missed at least one release window, fall 2023, after announcing a second project, a joint album with Metro Boomin, was also in the works. And although Metro pledged to release the album sometime this year, reassuring worried fans it was “still a thing” despite his busy schedule, Top Dawg Entertainment President Punch may have ruined fans hopes for a 2024 release after giving JID’s manager, Barry Hefner, his “secret” to success.

Replying to a SZA fan account’s celebratory post about the longevity of the singer’s last album SOS (80 weeks at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart), Punch wrote simply, “Insane.” When Hefner wondered, “what’s your secret?” Punch replied with the strategy that vexed SZA fans (and the artist herself) for the five years between the release of her acclaimed debut CTRL and SOS: “The secret is… hold albums back.”

Hef, who was definitely in on the joke, promised to apply this strategy to the Since The ’80s management roster — which includes JID. “TDE always holding their artists back from being successful..” he responded, citing a common fan complaint about the California label’s unpredictable release schedule. “if this what holding the album back looks like ain’t sh*t coming out over here.” Punch jovially agreed. “JID fans finna get at now.”

So, there you have it, JID fans. Forever & A Day may take that long to come out, and really, you can blame SZA fans for keeping SOS in rotation so long — even as they await its promised follow-up, Lana. This is why they say patience is a virtue.
