VP Kamala Harris Atlanta Rally Will Feature Quavo Advocating for Violence Prevention With Possible Endorsement and Megan Thee Stallion

The “A” is about to welcome Vice President Kamala Harris on her campaign trail. The Vice President is about to kick off her first rally in Georgia since announcing her presidential candidacy that’s been powered with unprecedented momentum.

So, if you’re in Atlanta, the event is taking place at Georgia State University’s Convocation Center, and is set to feature big name guests Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo who are poised to amplify Harris’ campaign message.

“The energy is infectious,” said Georgia Democratic Chairwoman Nikema Williams, also a congresswoman from Atlanta. “My phone has been blowing up. People want to be part of this movement.” Well, we hear you loud and clear!

Quavo, will address the rally on the issue of gun violence. First off, let’s show some respect for a contemporary rapper taking the time to care about REAL issues that affect many communities in America. This is big on his part and an issue he’s been vocal about since the untimely shooting death of his nephew and Migos bandmate, Takeoff. Rest in Power!

Get this, CNN sources allude that he will in fact endorse Harris for president and emphasize the significance of the Georgia vote to motivate attendees to register to vote. So he’s backing VP Harris, advocating for violence prevention and encouraging people to vote? Somebody get this man his flowers.

Takeoff, killed in a fatal shooting outside a Houston bowling alley in 2022 inspired Quavo to release a tribute song in 2023. ICYMI, Quavo and Offset, another Migos member, reunited at the 2023 BET Awards to honor Takeoff with a performance. The right thing to do, for sure.

Get this, more positivity … In 2022, Quavo established the Rocket Foundation to honor Takeoff’s legacy, focusing on gun violence prevention and criminal violence intervention. Born and raised in Atlanta, Quavo is a key figure in the local rap scene and is excited to welcome Vice President Harris to his hometown. Last month, Harris and Quavo participated in a conversation about gun violence at the Rocket Foundation Summit in Atlanta on what would have been Takeoff’s 30th birthday. Over the past year, Quavo and Harris have developed a strong connection, working together on gun violence prevention initiatives.

CNN reported Quavo’s White House visit coincided with President Joe Biden’s establishment of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, overseen by Harris. So policies on gun violence initiative BEFORE VP Harris announced her 2024 candidacy. Sounds like she’s on the right side of this issue.

Oh but it get’s better, Megan Thee Stallion will perform at the rally. On Monday, she announced her participation on Instagram, where she has 32 million followers, writing, “ATL HOTTIES SEE YOU TOMORROW,” along with an American flag emoji.

It makes sense that the Atlanta rally is strategically aimed at Black voters. You don’t have to be a political strategist to understand that this voting block is crucial to Harris’s campaign, as well as a huge contingent of Gen Z and millennial voters who resonate with artists like Quavo and Megan Thee Stallion.

Let’s see how it goes. Either way, the intentions of VP Harris, Quavo and Megan Thee Stallion are clear and it sounds good all around to us.

SZA and Keke Palmer Buddy Comedy Adds All Star Line Up of Lil Rel Howery, Katt Williams And More From Issa Rae And TriStar

Screen Shot 2024 07 30 at 2.43.02 PM

Watch out, Keke Palmer and SZA’s upcoming buddy comedy has expanded its star-studded cast and they aren’t playing with this lineup.

Above the line, the untitled film, is produced by Sony’s TriStar Pictures and MACRO Film Studios, lead by Issa Rae as a producer, with “Rap Sh!t” showrunner Syreeta Singleton as the writer and Lawrence Lamont directing. Sounds like they’re about to have great creative chemistry on this one.

Get this, Deadline Hollywood reports that the cast now includes Lil Rel Howery, Katt Williams, Janelle James, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Maude Apatow, and Keyla Monterroso Mejia. Joshua Neal, Patrick Cage, and Aziza Scott have also come on board this intriguing ensemble.

Despite the lineup, the plot details remain closely guarded but promises to be a goodie, with laughs and surprises.

The project originated from the CoCre lab at Sony Pictures, a collaboration between ColorCreative and Sony aimed at identifying and nurturing emerging, diverse screenwriters to develop their first studio feature based on original concepts. That is exactly what the industry needs. Original ideas from upcoming filmmakers who are diverse. Period.

As previously stated in earlier Deadline reporting: “The project came together from the CoCre lab at Sony Pictures with plot details being kept under wraps. The lab was a previous pact between ColorCreative and Columbia Pictures to source and incubate emerging, diverse screenwriters to develop and write their first studio feature based on original ideas.”

Who’s who is making this one as mentioned Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi are producing through Hoorae, with Deniese Davis producing through ColorCreative. Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks are producing via Macro Film Studios, while Keke and Sharon Palmer are executive producers through Big Boss. Singleton is serving as co-producer.

We’re just curious to see SZA acting under the bright lights with all these amazing actors from what’s bound to be a great script. Good for her!

RZA Partners With Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group and LL Cool J’s Rock the Bells to Expand Group’s Commercial Opportunities

RZA SPAN articleLarge

Hip Hop icon RZA just made a power move, announcing a new partnership involving all of Wu-Tang Clan’s music, aiming to create expanded opportunities in television, merchandising, brand partnerships, and film. Before we say, okay, hasn’t he been doing this already, let’s dive in …

As part of this deal, Wu-Tang Clan has hinted at a potential collaboration with Nike. As reported by Variety, this ambitious partnership is designed to unite Wu-Tang Clan’s global fanbase through a centralized online platform. Feels like that trend of direct to consumer where all content and consumable verticals are living in one hub. Okay, we see you.

Wu-Tang Clan, who debuted with the album “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” in 1993, has only released six studio albums since. If you remember, one of these, the legendary “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” was controversially acquired by Martin Shkreli for $2 million in 2015. After Shkreli’s legal troubles, the government seized the album, and PleasrDAO purchased it at auction for $4.75 million in 2021. Recently, Shkreli was banned from streaming the album, suggesting he retained copies of it. Wild turn of events. See, that deserves a film treatment.

Oh and if you want to see the Wu-Tang Clan live, they recently launched a residency in Las Vegas titled “Wu-Tang Clan: The Saga Continues,” which began during Super Bowl weekend in February and continued with additional dates in March. The group has also scheduled two more performances for September 27 and 28. Legacy act still delivering that authentic Hip-Hop. Dope.

Here’s how RZA commented on the new partnership:

“As we evolve from ‘Legendary Status’ to ‘Iconic Status,’ it’s only fitting and serendipitous that we join the team at Iconic Artists Group and Rock the Bells. This partnership will help us continue to expound and expand the Wu-Tang Clan’s legacy.”

Adding on to the enthusiasm, Susan Genco, Co-President of the Azoff Company, also expressed her excitement:

“Wu-Tang Clan’s influence on hip-hop—and the way the world views hip-hop—is undeniable. The partnership with RZA and Iconic is committed to ensuring that the importance of WTC’s music and their message is celebrated now and for generations to come.”

Interesting to see how it all comes together. Wu-Tang Clan is still a major brand and arguably the most successful Hip-Hop group of all time, so good to watch the legacy live on.

Eminem Claims MGK Slept With His Mom In Absurd Slim Shady Interview

Eminem’s still got jokes. The rapper dedicated a huge chunk of his new album, The Death of Slim Shady, to dealing with personal trauma. The recent AI interview that Em posted, however, is full on comedy. He decided to stage a mock interview in which he interviewed his demonic alter ego, Slim Shady, and results are predictably hilarious. The two trade insults back-and-forth, with Slim proving to be the winner when it comes to making the most out of pocket comments. One of the most notable involved MGK.

During the AI interview, Slim Shady tries to get under Eminem’s skin. He claims that MGK slept with Em’s mom, Debbie Nelson. “MGK f*cked your mother,” Slim yells out. Eminem doesn’t deny it, but instead flips it and notes that Nelson is also Slim’s mom. “He did,” the rapper said. “But she’s your mother too, so…” The exchange leads to Slim standing up and trying to physically confront his older self. Eminem tells him to calm down, and suggests that they both try to seek out help. “Damn,” Slim concluded. “I don’t even wanna f*cking admit it, but your b*tch a*s is right.”

Eminem And Slim Shady Hurl Insults Back And Forth

Eminem’s relationship with his mother has been well-documented over the years. Songs like “Who Knew” and “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” detail their familial dysfunction. He eventually apolgized to Nelson, however, on the 2013 song “Headlights.” Eminem’s decision to use MGK to insult himself suggests that that the rapper is as committed to moving on from the past as he claimed on The Death of Slim Shady album. On the track “Guilty Conscience 2,” the rapper announces his plans to squash the beefs he’s entertained over the last two decades.

MGK was at the top of the beef list. Eminem raps to Slim Shady that he’s done starting problems just to elicit a reaction from listeners. “God, you piece of sh*t, that does it (Uh-oh, wait),” he raps. “Yeah, b*tch, this is for him (What?). Christopher, MGK, Nick, and for Limp Bizkit and them.” As “Guilty Conscience 2” comes to a close, Eminem decides to kill the Slim Shady persona once and for all. Granted, the narrative doesn’t really mesh with the AI interview the rapper did for Complex, but the point stands. Eminem wants to move on, and he’s making light of the MGK beef as a result.

Eminem Got Roasted By His Own Alter Ego Slim Shady, Who Told Him, ‘You’re Not F*ckin’ Taylor Swift’

Technology is weird. Thanks to AI, we can duplicate celebrities’ voices (even against their wishes), and those celebrities can even interact with each other — or themselves. Last month, The Weeknd used ChatGPT to have a conversation with his “10-year-old self,” and today, Eminem was able to interview his alter ego Slim Shady for Complex with the aid of the same sort of de-aging tech that brought back Luke Skywalker and had us all posting pictures of ourselves as babies on Snapchat a few years ago.

Unsurprisingly, Slim was less than nice to Em, roasting him repeatedly throughout the interview and even comparing him to modern-day star Taylor Swift. “We sold all that sh*t off my back, b*tch,” he railed. “Don’t get it twisted; wasn’t for me, you’d still be wearing that ‘same damn Nike Air hat.’ You’re not f*ckin’ Taylor Swift — you only had one era that mattered: mine.”

The premise of the interview is that Eminem has been brought forward from the past to berate and deride Em, who seemingly tries to defend his creative choices in light of a changed world and newfound maturity — although, it’s arguable that there’s an angry inner voice controlling the actions of the 51-year-old rapper. Still, you gotta give him props, almost no other rapper has ever committed so strongly to an album concept.

Megan Thee Stallion Celebrated Simone Biles’ Latest Gold Medal By Sharing A Video Of Biles Dancing To ‘Where Them Girls At’

Simone Biles posted a video of herself dancing to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Where Them Girls At” ahead of her Olympics performance, and Megan herself was all too happy to reshare the video after the US Olympic Gymnastics Team took home the gold medal — bringing Biles’ total to 38. In the video, Biles shows off her nails (“check”), hair (“check”), and makeup (“face pretty”) along with her star-spangled leotard. Megan, in reposting the video on Twitter (never going to call it “X”), added a trio of heart-eye emojis.

In addition to shooting a commercial with a horse to promote NBC’s Olympics coverage, Meg’s also showed off her patriotism by announcing that she’ll be performing at Kamala Harris’ upcoming campaign rally in Atlanta. With plans to “stream Harris’ speech on Facebook, YouTube and the FOX Local App” according to Fox 5 Atlanta, that could mean a chance for those of us not in The Big Peach to follow along.

“Where Them Girls At” is the fourth song from Meg’s new album, Megan, which dropped a little over a month ago on June 30 via Megan’s own independent imprint Hot Girl Productions with distribution through Warner. The song is hugely popular on TikTok, for exactly the reason that Biles used it in her video, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her win spark a resurgence. You can hear it in full below.

Soulja Boy Puts Out “Swag Season” For His 34th Birthday

Soulja Boy, born DeAndre Cortez Way on July 28, 1990, recently celebrated turning 34 years old! HNHH wishes the Chicago, Illinois rapper a happy belated birthday and from what we have seen online, it seems he’s been celebrating big time! The self-proclaimed first rapper to do everything in the industry is doing Big Draco things like copping the all-new Tesla Cybertruck. He also put on a performance at SeaWorld alongside Bow Wow. But perhaps the biggest thing Soulja Boy has done over the weekend was put out his new album Swag Season on his day of birth. This marks the second project release for him, as it follows up on Swag 6 from February.

Swag Season could be a slight sequel to 2023’s Soulja Season, a much shorter tape in comparison. That sits at nine songs at just 22 minutes and 12 seconds in length. However, Soulja Boy really ups the ante here, bringing out 24 cuts with a 55-minute runtime. Looking back at his singles catalog as of late, it seems that Swag Season is full of brand-new material. It makes sense though, considering the fact that Soulja announced this project would be coming back on July 12 via social media. Across the album, you are getting signature Draco, meaning loads of brags, confidence, and arrogance.

Polo has been teasing the release of Hood Poet since 2022 when he teamed up with YouTuber Kai Cenat for an announcement trailer. He dropped the first single, “Distraction,” in June of that year. He ended up in legal trouble in August of 2023, leading to a significant delay. Be on the lookout for further updates on Polo G on HotNewHipHop.
