DeeBaby Wants To Know Something On New LP: “Can You Hear Me Now”

We have a new artist alert! Today, we are checking out Houston, Texas multi-talent DeeBaby. Not to be confused with DaBaby, we are checking out DeeBaby because his new album Can You Hear Me Now is here. The soon-to-be 28-year-old is drawing a lot of comparisons to artists like Kevin Gates, Moneybagg Yo, and maybe even a splash of Kodak Black and Rod Wave. That is because of his efforts to rap over booming Southern-fried trap beats.

He also likes to speak about his life experiences, as well as not being afraid throw some brags out there. For DeeBaby, this is following up on his 2023 record Junkie Mode, which also got the Chopped & Screwed treatment. However, this is third offering overall, with Black Sheep being his debut in 2021. Even though he has been garnering attention as of late, he has been working toward star status for a few years.

Memphis Producer Hitkidd Recruits Key Glock & Doe Boy For “NOTT”

Memphis, Tennessee is one of the hottest spots for hip-hop artists without question right now. Whether its rappers or producers, the pool of talent is large. Hitkidd is one of the cities fastest rising beatmakers right now and today he is working with Key Glock and Doe Boy on “NOTT.” He is not a stranger to these two trap veterans, as Hitkidd had a hand in Glockoma 2 and OH REALLY. The last time we spoke about the 29-year-old was when he collaborated with host of his Memphis female contemporaries for Renegade. It was released in early December of last year and featured the likes of GloRilla, K Carbon, Gloss Up, Slimeroni, and more.

For Key Glock, he is just continuing to stay on his hot streak of singles. Over the last couple of months, he has remained as consistent as anyone, with songs like “The Greatest,” “F*** Around & Find Out,” the mutliple “Let’s Go” remixes, and more. For Doe Boy, he has also been on quite the heater himself. This effort follows up on “Shoulda Coulda Woulda,” “HUH,” and “Say It To My Face.”

On “NOTT,” the “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” producer brings a slick and cavernous trap instrumental. Both Doe Boy and Glock coast over it well, with the former bringing an angry, mean-mugging flow. As you can expect, the song is all about being movers and shakers in the game while describing their competition as way below them. Check out the single with music video above.

What are your thoughts on “NOTT” by Hitkidd, Key Glock, and Doe Boy? Is this one of Hitkidd’s better beats as of late? Who had the strongest rapping performance and why? Is Hitkidd the cream of the crop when it comes to Memphis-based producers? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Coi Leray Explores The Ups & Downs Of Love On “Lemon Cars” EP

Coi Leray is someone who is always looking to work on her versatility. Whether it be exploring R&B, rap, or even pop, the Massachusetts is the definition of a true multi-hyphenate. Coi Leray is showcasing that once again on her latest EP Lemon Cars. The 27-year-old announced the Mike WiLL Made-It joint project a few weeks ago over social media and she mentioned that she was going to be ushering in a new era for 2024. “It’s feeling good for yourself; looking in the mirror and just loving yourself. 2024 is going to be my grown and sexy era,” according to HipHopDX. “I’m taking over this year. I’ve got so much new music and a whole new side of me to get to know.”

She is definitely committing to that across this six-song effort. Across the project, Coi is exploring the different sides of love, breakups, and promiscuity. For example, on the opener and one of three singles, “Lemon Cars,” she talks about the latter and living for the nightlife. “We Time” sees Coi deeply in love and probably at her most vulnerable. “I need we time, take your sweet time / You and me time, show me that you mine / I need we time, take your sweet time / You and me time, show you what it’s like.”

On top of switching up the topics, Coi is also performing over severely different instrumentals to match the vibes she is delivering. For instance, on “Coke Bottle Baby” with Skilla Baby, which is all about flexing her body, the duo raps over a strip club-ready trap beat. Coi fans should enjoy this offering, as it definitely sees her take a more mature angle on topics. All the while, she is bringing some interesting production choices with the help of frequent collaborator Mike WiLL.

What are your thoughts on Lemon Cars by Coi Leray? Which track do you think is the best and why? Is this her strongest EP to date? YG Claims There’s A Lot Of “Weird” Rappers On “Just Re’d Up 3” Single

YG has had some fans excited over the last few months with a new project that is coming soon. That would happen to be Just Re’d Up 3, the third entry in the series. The Compton, California veteran is continuing the saga of projects 11 years after the second one released in 2013. Its origins trace back to 2011, though. However, for number three, YG is not labeling it as a mixtape, rather a studio album. YG formally announced the record across his social media platforms a few days ago, revealing the cover in progress and estimated drop date. Now, YG is back with its third single “Weird.”

This track follows up on the late April release “KNOCKA,” as well as the 2022 lead single “Miss My Dawgs” with Lil Wayne. YG has been straying away from the G-funk and West Coast hip-hop sounds and opting for more straight-line trap cuts. “KNOCKA” had some elements of his OG style, though, especially with the sample flip. But “Weird” focuses on his older sound, and its sounds like something that would have landed on My Krazy Life.

On this track, YG is claiming that a lot of people, including unnamed rappers are oddballs. He paints himself as the man on top, especially with bars like these. “Point the .40 at a n**** ’til it click, click, click, click (Click, click) / N****s weird, pillow-talkin’ to h*es / You don’t support the bros, you ain’t livin’ by the code (By the code).” Check out the hyper aggressive cut with the link above.

What are your thoughts on “Weird” by YG? Is this one of his better tracks as of late, why or why not? Does this get you excited for his upcoming project Just Re’d Up 3? Is this the strongest single from the project? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. I don’t wanna hear it, not even a snippet

Quavo Returns To His Regularly Scheduled Programming With “Clear The Smoke”

After a pretty bloody battle with Chris Brown, Quavo is looking to get back on track with “Clear the Smoke.” The former Migo went shot for shot with R&B singer after Breezy rekindled the flame on “Freak.”Okay, now f***in’ my old b****es ain’t gon’ make us equal / Sippin’ that 1942 ’cause I don’t do no Cuervo / Freak b****, she like Casamigos, not the Migos.” The 11:11 (Deluxe) cut prompted Quavo to fire back on “Tender.” However, it did not stop there, as Brown would then retaliate with “Weakest Link.” Finally, that would be followed up by “Over H*es & B****es.”

Now, with the dust settling on their feud, Quavo can now refocus on the streak he has been on. He has been really keeping the momentum up since he released Rocket Power last September, his tribute to Takeoff and sophomore solo LP. Huncho has worked alongside artists such as Rich The Kid, Destroy Lonely, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, as well as Chief Keef. However, “Clear the Smoke” sees him riding solo.

Listen To “Clear The Smoke” By Quavo

Quavo seems to be working on a more ethereal and spacey sound, compared to the straight-forward trap bangers of the past. You are still getting the trademark flows and adlibs but against more grand instrumentals. We saw him experience with that on his last record, so this shift is not too much of a surprise. You can check out “Clear the Smoke” with the new music video above.

What are your thoughts on “Clear the Smoke” by Quavo? Is this one of his best releases as of late, why or why not? Do you think he is nearing a release of a new album? What is your favorite aspect of the song? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:

If it’s smoke, I will not run (Never)
It’s smoke, can’t clear your lungs (No)
Outside, I’m with my ones (Yeah)
Hell no, we don’t do ones (No)
Don’t want no smoke ’bout p***y (No smoke)
These b****es all for us (Us)

Dee Barnes Speaks Out: Diddy’s Assault on Cassie is Triggering for Abuse Victims

Screen Shot 2024 05 25 at 6.20.34 AM

Dee Barnes, a prominent voice against domestic violence in the music industry, has recently spoken out against Sean “Diddy” Combs following a video showing him assaulting his former partner, Cassie. Barnes, who herself survived a brutal attack by Dr. Dre, expressed her deep disappointment and described the footage as triggering for abuse survivors.

In a social media post on Friday, May 17, Barnes didn’t hold back her feelings. “Seeing that video is extremely triggering. #DrDre punched, slammed, kicked and stomped me out. #Concussion,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. She continued in a separate post, “I’m disgusted and disappointed with Sean Combs. I stand with #Cassie, #KimPorter and all the other victims of his violent abuse.”

Barnes’ history with domestic violence dates back to January 27, 1991, when she was attacked by Dr. Dre at a record release party in Hollywood, California. As detailed by Rolling Stone Magazine, Dr. Dre viciously assaulted her, repeatedly slamming her head and body against a brick wall, while his bodyguard kept bystanders at bay with a gun. The attack continued with Dr. Dre kicking her and attempting to throw her down a flight of stairs. Barnes managed to escape to a women’s bathroom, but Dr. Dre followed and continued his assault by punching her in the back of the head. The attack only ended when Dre and his bodyguard fled the scene.

This attack was reportedly provoked by an interview Barnes conducted with Ice Cube on her show “Pump It Up,” in which Ice Cube mocked D.O.C.’s voice, an injury result from a car accident. Barnes subsequently filed a $22.75 million lawsuit against Dr. Dre, which was settled out of court.

Dr. Dre later addressed the assault in an interview for “The Defiant Ones,” expressing regret for his actions. “There is absolutely no excuse for it. No woman should ever be treated this way,” he stated. “Any man that puts his hands on a female is a fing idiot. He is out of his fing mind and I was out of my fing mind at the time. I fed up. I paid for it. I’m sorry for it and I apologized for it.”

While Barnes accepted Dr. Dre’s apology and appreciated his accountability, she has questioned the timing of his remorse. Now, with the emergence of the video of Diddy’s assault on Cassie, Barnes is once again reminded of her traumatic past and is vocal in her support for Cassie and other victims of abuse.

In her advocacy, Dee Barnes continues to shine a light on the issue of domestic violence within the music industry, urging for accountability and justice for all victims.
