Nicki Minaj Fan Goes Viral For His Enthusiastic Rapping At Her Show

Nicki Minaj is currently on her Pink Friday 2 tour. She’s supporting her first new album in 5 years and fans are unsurprisingly hyped to see her. They made the tour her highest selling series of shows ever before it even got underway and the shows have made nightly news ever since. While much of that has been due to high-profile guests, it’s worth remembering that thousands of Barbz are showing up every single night and giving their all in the audience.

That was the case for one fan in particular who went viral over the weekend. Even compared to seas of excited fans he was particularly in the zone while rapping along to Nicki’s songs. In the comments, fans can’t help but point out that he’s an OG Barb who’s been making Nicki content for years now. “12 years later and bro still doing this” one of the top comments on the post reads. “Y’all obviously don’t know that’s crunk coco he been doing this! 😂❤❤❤ True Barb” another comment reads. Pharrell Williams & Chad Hugo Battle Over Neptunes Trademark

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo are engaged in a legal dispute over the trademark for their group name, Neptunes. Hugo claims Pharrell is “fraudulently” seeking sole control over the name, which would violate a longstanding agreement between the two to split everything evenly. He says Pharrell filed to register trademarks for the Neptunes name without his permission.

Hugo’s attorney, Kenneth D. Freundlich, wrote in a legal filing: “Throughout their over thirty year history, [Hugo] and Williams agreed to, and in fact, have divided all assets. By ignoring and excluding [Hugo] from the any and all applications filed by applicant for the mark ‘The Neptunes,’ applicant has committed fraud in securing the trademarks and acted in bad faith.”

A representative for Pharrell responded to the situation in a statement to Billboard on Monday. They argued he only did so to protect the name from third parties. “Pharrell is surprised by this,” they wrote. “We have reached out on multiple occasions to share in the ownership and administration of the trademark and will continue to make that offer. The goal here was to make sure a third party doesn’t get a hold of the trademark and to guarantee Chad and Pharrell share in ownership and administration.”

Pharrell’s company, PW IP Holdings LLC, filed three separate applications to register “The Neptunes” as a trademark back in 2022. They cover the use of the name on streaming music, in music videos, and for live performances. Hugo’s team says they’ve “repeatedly” contacted Pharrell’s team about the problem and argue he “knowingly and intentionally” filed the applications without required input from their client. Be on the lookout for further updates on Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo on HotNewHipHop.

Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” Debuts At #1 On The Hot 100

After more than a year of teasing, Future and Metro Boomin finally unleashed their collaborative album WE DON’T TRUST YOU earlier this month. The album is already living up to its billing as one of the biggest moments in rap music this year with high-profile features from Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Rick Ross, and The Weeknd. But the most attention-grabbing feature came from Kendrick Lamar, who used his verse on the song “Like That” to take shots at Drake and J. Cole.

As a result there was quite a bit of discussion about the song and that’s translated directly into streams. The song has racked up nearly 70 million streams on Spotify alone since it first dropped. That’s why it’s no surprise that it surged straight to the top of the Hot 100 in its very first week. The song represents Kendrick and Future’s third number one, hit each and Metro Boomin’s first ever as a primary artist. But the new album is performing well all over the chart. The Travis Scott and Playboi Carti collaboration “Type Sh*t” turned up right behind “Like That” at #2 on the chart. Travis Scott’s other appearance on the album comes on the track “Cinderella” which lands at #6. They round out the top 10 with the title track “We Don’t Trust You” at #8 and the Weeknd featuring “Young Metro” at #9.

Over the weekend it was revealed that WE DON’T TRUST YOU also debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. It didn’t just hit the top spot though, it scored the biggest single week of equivalent album sales so far in 2024.

What do you think of Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar’s new song debuting at number one on the Hot 100? Do you think the song will stay near the top of the Hot 100 or start to slip down in the next few weeks? Let us know in the comment section below.

Rico Nasty Explores The Realms Of Dance With Boys Noize On New EP “HARDCORE DR3AMZ”

Rico Nasty is an underrated female MC in today’s hip-hop landscape. She likes to lean into the experimental side of the genre at times, but also has no problems going conventional either. Releasing music since 2016, the Maryland artist last put out a project in 2022 with Las Ruinas. She has been dropping some singles since that time, but her feature game is what continues to really impress as of late. Some of her standouts include “Ain’t No Way” from Denzel Curry’s Melt My Eyez See Your Future and “Pop” from BLUE LIPS. This past weekend, Rico Nasty made a small return with a new EP HARDCORE DR3AMZ.

For this three-song offering, Rico is working with an international friend of hers. Boys Noize, a German electronic and dance producer, has made tracks with her in the past called “Girl Crush” and “Money.” So, this marks the first time these two opposite talents have clashed for a project of any kind. We believe that this could be a route that Rico could do well in on a full listen.

The up-tempo production matches the wild energy of the “Smack A B****” MC to a tee. Up until HARDCORE DR3AMZ‘s release, the duo teased the project with one track being the opener “Arintintin.” She had a lot of fun making this laid-back EP, especially the closer “H.O.T.” Rico spoke with Hypebeast, saying, “Let the haters know something and give the lurkers a show! Making this was so refreshing and reminded me that everything doesn’t have to be so serious all the time.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, HARCORE DR3AMZ, by Rico Nasty and Boys Noize? Is this the rapper’s most experimental project of his career, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Which song are you choosing as the best from this EP? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Rico Nasty. Finally, stay with us for everything the most informative project posts throughout the week.

Metro Boomin Lands His First No. 1 Song As An Artist (And Kendrick Lamar His Third) As ‘Like That’ Leads The Hot 100

Every week, Billboard unveils the top 10 songs on the latest Hot 100 chart. The most recent rankings, for the chart dated April 6, are out now, so let’s run down who had this week’s biggest hits.

10. Ariana Grande — “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)”

Grande’s single has had a quick descent since it debuted at No. 1 two weeks ago: It was No. 3 last week, and now it’s barely hanging on to top-10 status.

9. Future, Metro Boomin, and The Weeknd — “Young Metro”

Future and Metro Boomin’s new album We Don’t Trust You had a major week on the Hot 100, as “Young Metro” is just one of five songs from the project in this week’s top 10.

8. Future and Metro Boomin — “We Don’t Trust You”

“We Don’t Trust You” is one of the others, and the only one on which Future and Metro aren’t joined by another artist.

7. Jack Harlow — “Lovin On Me”

It’s been a few months now, but “Lovin On Me” is still floating around the top 10 after a bit of a drop from No. 4 last week.

6. Future, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott — “Cinderella”

Travis Scott managed to land a pair of songs (more on that later) in this week’s top 10 thanks to linking up with Future and Metro on their album.

5. Hozier — “Too Sweet”

Hozier’s three albums have all performed well on the charts, but in terms of singles, he’s been sitting in “one-hit wonder” territory for years now with “Take Me To Church,” which peaked at No. 2 in 2014. “Too Sweet” is having a real moment, though, as the song debuts at No. 5 this week, making it his highest debut on the chart and his first top-10 single since “Take Me To Church.”

4. Teddy Swims — “Lose Control”

“Lose Control” actually managed to hit No. 1 on the chart last week, but it lost control of the top spot and slid down to No. 4.

3. Benson Boone — “Beautiful Things”

Boone, another chart newcomer with his recent hit, also had a bit of a decline this time around, moving down from No. 2.

2. Future, Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, and Playboi Carti — “Type Sh*t”

Future and Metro secured the top two spots on this week’s chart, and they got some help from Scott and Carti to do it with “Type Sh*t.”

1. Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar — “Like That”

This week represents a major milestone for Metro, as “Like That” is his first No. 1 single as an artist (as opposed to as a producer). For both Future and Kendrick, “Like That” is their third No. 1 song. The tune is Metro’s third No. 1 as a producer, as he was also on the boards for The Weeknd’s “Heartless” and Migos’ “Bad And Boujee.”
