Overnight, hundreds of different New Year’s celebrations took place all over the world. But for Americans, there’s no bigger celebration than Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. The show is attended by thousands in the heart of New York City with millions more watching from home. Aside from the ball dropping at midnight, the biggest highlight of the festivities is the performances. The show typically attracts some of the biggest talents in all of music and this year was no different. This year pop singer Sabrina Carpenter, breakout R&B star Tyla, and country hitmaker Jelly Roll all took the stage.

But the biggest highlight of the night was an energetic performance from Megan Thee Stallion. She performed her 2020 mega-hit “Savage” alongside standout songs from her last album like “Her” and “Body.” Megan also delivered a rendition of her newest single “Cobra” much to the delight of fans in attendance. She and her backup dancers performed hard-hitting choreography in matching purple outfits completing the vision of the impressive performance. Megan Thee Stallion On New Year’s Eve

Megan Thee Stallion dropped her first solo single of the year “Cobra” a few months ago. Since then she’s appeared on a few soundtrack cuts. The biggest is her song “Not My Fault.” The track sees Megan crossing paths with emerging pop star Renee Rapp and it’s due to land on the soundtrack for the upcoming remake of Mean Girls.

Megan Thee Stallion is also set to appear on the next season of Netflix’s animated comedy Big Mouth. In conjunction with her role, she recorded an original song for the show. The song is called “P*ssy Don’t Lie” and hit streaming a few weeks ago. It follows another appearance Megan made in the A24 film D*cks: The Musical. Nicki Minaj Plays Hype New Year’s Eve Show But Won’t Perform “Starships”

Like many fellow celebs and rappers, Nicki Minaj had a pretty fun time on New Year’s. She took to the stage to perform a few songs for a tightly packed crowd at a New Year’s Eve party in a Miami club. Videos of her performance have been circulating online all day. While many of them show her excited delivery and the hyped crowd, one particular clip making the rounds is different.

During the set, her DJ tries to set up her classic 2010 hit “Starships.” Nicki has no doubt performed the song hundreds of times live before but wasn’t feeling it overnight. “I don’t perform that song no more,” she says in the clip after making her DJ move on. When the crowd reacts she shares with them that she just doesn’t like the track anymore. Fans of Nicki came to her defense over the claims in the comments of a repost of the video on Instagram. “She been said that she don’t like Starships,” the top comment on the post reads. Nicki Minaj Doesn’t Like “Starships”

Last month, Nicki Minaj released her highly-anticipated new album Pink Friday 2. It was her first new record in 5 years following 2018’s Queen and ended up being a major undertaking for her. The album features 22 tracks and over 70 minutes of material. Among the songs are plenty of high-profile features like Drake, Future, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, J. Cole, and more.

The album performed quite well commercially but that hasn’t stopped Nicki from fighting for every sale. She clapped back at some haters online while talking about the album’s incredibly impressive Spotify numbers. She also shared a video on Twitter of one of her haters hiding physical copies of the album so fans trying to buy it would have a harder time finding the album. Skepta Finally Announces New Album, Lead Single Coming In January

Just about a month ago, Skepta teamed up with 19-year-old producer Ryder for the 48 Hours EP, a solid offering. However, its quality still didn’t dissuade his fan from lamenting the lack of a full-length solo album since 2020’s Insomnia, although a new house-based project with Jammer under the name Más Tiempo is apparently in the works. Regardless, die-hards are still waiting for a follow-up, but fortunately, 2024 brings us very good news. It hasn’t even been a full 24 hours into the year as of writing this article, and we’re already sure that many listeners found their most anticipated project of the year.

“It’s been years since I dropped my last album,” Skepta shared in a message to his various social media accounts on Monday (January 1). “I want to thank you for all the love during my hiatus. I’ve seen the messages, tweets and Tik Toks, I’m truly grateful that my music is still resonating with the world, even in my absence. I’m happy to announce my next studio album #KnifeAndFork is loading this year, the first single #GasMeUp (Diligent) will be out January 26th. Can’t wait to see you all @bigsmokefestival happy 2024.”

Jaidyn Alexis Confirms She’s Single And Wants To Focus On Herself This Year

For may their New Year’s Resolution has something to do with self improvement. But for Jaidyn Alexis she’s focusing on herself in a different way. During a recent interview at a New Year’s Eve party she revealed that her resolution is to put herself first. But during the interview she also dipped into the realm of self-improvement revealing that she wants to be “better” than the woman she was before.

Later in that same interview though, she said something that fans were even more interested in. She gave a hard confirmation about her status with Blueface, who she was engaged to earlier this year. When asked about their current relationship she confirmed that she’s “single” and added that she’s focusing on “getting this money.” Despite the ending of their engagement, Blueface allegedly bought Jaidyn Alexis a house last month. At least according to them, he bought her a house. Chrisean Rock later claimed that the house was actually rented not bought and Blue wasn’t even the one paying for it. Playboi Carti’s Music is almost here, with an early January drop in the cards and various singles coming out on non-streaming social media platforms. Moreover, it seems like he didn’t want to waste any time in 2024, and is acting quite fast to get fans even more excited. To do so, the Atlanta native tapped one of the biggest artists working today, someone with whom he crafted one of the biggest songs of 2023. The “FE!N,” “Love Hurts,” and “Green & Purple” duo is back, as he and Travis Scott are apparently dropping new music tonight (Monday, January 1) at 9:30PM (time zone unclear). In a clip used to announce this, presumably one of the Whole Lotta Red stars onstage goons shouts out the good news.

Furthermore, this falls in line with previous hints of new music coming very soon from Playboi Carti’s producer, F1lthy. It seems like this confirms that was the case, even if the timeline that he set out wasn’t exactly how things ended up panning out. Still, there’s a lot of excitement for the rage pioneer to come through with another defining body of work, and it’s unclear what styles or sounds he will champion on this. Teases like “UR THE MOON,” “2024,” and “H00DBYAIR” sound less rage-heavy and more ethereal or rooted in typical trap.

Travis Scott & Playboi Carti Are Dropping Tonight

Of course, this isn’t all that’s contributing to this album cycle; after all, even Playboi Carti has to play the extracurricular game. In this case, it relates to relationship rumors, which are a bit concerning given his history with romantic trouble and alleged abuse and neglect in the past. Regardless, when the 28-year-old and Camila Cabello were spotted on a FaceTime call, people still went straight to the rumor mill to speculate. It’s certainly a very different headline that we’re not used to seeing with his rollouts.

Meanwhile, the “King Vamp” MC’s ex, Iggy Azalea, recently accused him of being an absent father again after he posted a clip of him with their son Onyx. Dave Chappelle reflected on meeting Lil Nas X during his newest stand-up special for Netflix. He says the rapper approached him at a party and asked why he refused to be in one of his music videos. Chappelle didn’t specify what video Nas was referring to while also claiming not to know what he was talking about.

“I know a dreamer when I see one and I’ve met many powerful dreamers in my life — none more powerful than the man who calls himself Lil Nas X,” Chappelle begins. “I met this n***a at a party; I had no idea who he was. But the minute he walked in that party, I knew I was in his dream. Everybody in the party was another dreamer. Everyone was famous. But when that n***a walked in, he was dressed like C-3PO. He was shining! Everyone was like, ‘Oh my God, there he is! That’s Lil Nas X!’ I didn’t know who he was.”

FTP Records, based from the F**KTHEPOPULATION merch brand, will likey have a breakout 2024 with a mixtape reportedly on the way. To get some hype behind it, the collective just released a destructive new single with some former collaborators. Moreover, Sematary, Hackle, and the one and only Chief Keef rip through their aggressive and misanthropic verses on this new song, “F**k The World.” The incredibly distorted instrumental takes heavy inspiration from early Chicago drill sounds and more harsh trap styles, plus mixtape-like DJ drops. Sosa in particular, who just remixed one of Sexyy Red’s biggest songs this year, doesn’t hold anything back with wild delivery and unbridled rage.

In fact, Sematary had previously spoken to Complex about how excited he was about this Chief Keef collab back in June. The pioneer inspired a lot of the Haunted Mound leader’s work and artistry, so to see this full-circle moment is heartening and exciting.  “I got a Sosa feature on my song,” the King Of The Graveyard visionary expressed. “With Zac FTP for the FTP album. It’s called ‘F**k The World.’ I got Chief Keef on my s**t, so no one can ever say s**t about me now. Like he made all of this, there ain’t no any of this without him. I can’t even put it into words.” To see the Glo Gang MC join one of the scariest and most explosive sounds adjacent to hip-hop right now is truly special, and it helps that “F**k The World” ends up being so catchy and energized.
