Drake Embraces Dick’s Pics By Following The New Toronto Raptors Rookie On Instagram

It’s a busy and exciting time in the NBA right now. Over the past few days, there were major trades involving Marcus Smart, Kristaps Porziņģis, Bradley Beal, and Chris Paul. All that was leading up to yesterday’s NBA Draft, the headline of which was the unsurprising decision by the San Antonio Spurs to draft Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 pick.

Gradey Dick also made headlines for his dazzling red outfit before getting selected at No. 13 by the Toronto Raptors (a pretty good pick, in our opinion). After donning his Raptors hat and shaking Adam Silver’s hand, Dick’s mind was on Drake.

In a post-draft press conference, Dick was asked about Drake and he said, “Gotta get out there, see Drake. I haven’t seen him a bunch, but I’m looking forward to that. [Becoming boys with Drake], that’s the goal. I need him to wear my jersey. That’s how I know [I’ve made it]. That’s my priority.”

Now, it appears their friendship is off to a good start: a video shared by the Raptors shows an excited Dick smiling shortly after getting followed on Instagram by Drake.

Drake will surely be happy to see Dick suit up for Toronto: Per our draft analysis, “This is a good value and a good fit. Dick is one of the best shooters in the class with good size for a wing and the ability to move off the ball and shoot on the move. Defensively, he probably won’t be a big plus, but Dick improved as the season went along, and Toronto’s roster could use the infusion of floor spacing.”

Nicki Minaj’s Neighbors Reportedly Launched A Petition Requesting She And Husband Kenneth Petty Move Over Concerns About His Past

Nicki Minaj has been having a ball exploring “Barbie World” with her protégé Ice Spice. Unfortunately, things aren’t as fantastic back in Hidden Hills, California. According to TMZ, the rapper’s neighbors have launched a petition to request that she and her husband, Kenneth Petty, move out of the community.

In the e-filing, the homeowners express their concerns over Petty’s criminal past precisely because he is a registered sex offender. Although the couple has vigorously denied any wrongdoing in the 1995 case, residents in the posh community aren’t having that. Petty has stated that his alleged victim was a “Willing participant” in the act. While the music super has stated that she believes in uncertain terms that the accuser is only looking for a payday at her expense.

Over the week, the petition has gained some traction, starting with just over one hundred signees. It now has racked up over eight hundred signatures and counting.

The multi-million dollar mansion purchased in December was supposed to be a fresh start for them and their young child, but it is turning out to be the complete opposite. In the meantime, the couple has many other legal matters to tend to, including a defamation case against the legal representative for Petty’s accuser.

Jack Harlow’s Crowd Doesn’t Know His Own Lyrics

Last night Jack Harlow performed at the Power Our Planet concert put on by Global Citizen. The star-studded event featured performances from Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz, H.E.R, and Jon Batiste among others. Jack Harlow also took the stage and may have expected more from the crowd than they were prepared to give him. He tried to do a classic live performance move and start off his song “First Class” without the instrumental while rapping the lyrics himself. The trouble came when he tried to hand it over to the crowd to finish the lyrics. Despite the song’s massive sales numbers, the crowd in attendance totally left Harlow hanging.

“First Class” run at number one was less than a year ago. But Jack Harlow got a taste of the industry’s short attention span when many at his show had no idea what the words were. Thankfully, he played the incident off well and the crowd seemed to catch up once the beat dropped. 2023 has been particularly unkind to new rap music. The year is almost halfway through and there hasn’t been a number-one rap song or album. Despite being over a year old “First Class” is still the most recent rap song to spend multiple weeks atop the chart. Drake’s “Jimmy Cooks” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” each topped the charts for one week last year.

Jack Harlow’s Underwhelming Crowd

Like many other celebs, Jack Harlow is in Paris this week celebrating Paris Fashion Week. He posted some pictures of what he’s been up to, including sporting an all-black Givenchy fit. He’s also been pretty consistent at delivering new material for fans recently. His new album Jackman came out back in April. He released a music video for the song “Gang Gang Gang” last week after teasing it on social media. It’s the second video so far from the surprise-released project.

He’s also been dealing with a recent beef with Machine Gun Kelly. In a recent freestyle, MGK took issue with Jack Harlow claiming to be the best white rapper since Eminem. What do you think of the underwhelming crowd response to Jack Harlow’s performance? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug Versus Gunna: Which Album Is Better? Twitter Debates

Over the past week, we saw two incredibly hyped albums come out amid a lot of drama and speculation. a Gift & a Curse by Gunna came out on June 16, and just a week later, Young Thug dropped BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. Considering both artists’ history together, their incarceration for the YSL RICO case, and Wunna’s subsequent plea deal, these two release being so close to one another come with a lot of baggage. Of course, many enjoy both to great extent, but social media sites like Twitter have been warring over which one is the superior body of work.

For starters, many lamented the fact that neither MC appeared on the other’s album, which many thought would confirm that they’re still on good terms. Regardless, when you search “Young Thug Gunna” on Twitter, most tweets side with a Gift & a Curse. “Sorry but this new Young Thug album doesn’t even compete to Gunna’s album,” one user wrote. Another made note of the College Park MC’s important contributions to other career highlights. “Young Thug & Lil Baby’s biggest songs both feature Gunna…” they tweeted.

Twitter Debates Gunna & Young Thug’s Albums

On the other hand, many people started praising Gunna’s album just minutes after BUSINESS IS BUSINESS came out, not even enough time to listen to the whole thing. In addition, others took the opportunity to explain why it’s hard to compare them, especially within mere hours of Thugger dropping. “Well gunna did have a year to prepare, got out and recorded all new material,” one user pointed out. “These thug songs are obvious throwaways and loose songs from “punk”. Is it illegal to just enjoy them both damn.”

Finally, many who believe Thug’s album is better have the obvious argument of him influencing Gunna greatly. “Young Thug made Gunna. Don’t forget that,” one person tweeted. Regardless of their speculated falling-out, the albums are stylistically distinct enough to make it more of a question of personal preference. One has more expressive vocals, the other has more laidback instrumentals, but only one can be better than the other. Check out some takes below, let us know yours in the comments, and return to HNHH for more on Gunna and Young Thug.

Lil Durk Apple Music 1 Takeaways: Talks J. Cole, Swizz Beatz, & Allen Iverson

Undeniably, Lil Durk is one of the hottest rappers in the industry today. The Chicago native helped solidify Drill as a subgenre that would take over Hip Hop, and with over a decade of music hits under his belt, Durkio is a formidable force. He recently dropped his latest album Almost Healed and sat down with Nadeska Alexis on Apple Music 1 to detail his journey and new project. Check out a few highlights from the conversation, including Lil Durk speaking on his J. Cole feature, being mentored by people like Swizz Beatz, and how far he’s come in the last ten years. You can also watch the interview for yourself below.

Lil Durk Talks J. Cole Feature On “All My Life”

“Shout out to J. Cole. Even just to have that type of music out, just on a positive level, feels super, super good. I think that the J. Cole feature was definitely unexpected for my fans. He went super crazy. And it’s so crazy, because we’ve been talking for two years. He always be like, “Send me a record,” and I’m like, “I got to find the right record.”

“And I’m glad I waited two years, because in my eyes he’s a legend. So if you have a chance to do a song with legend, do you send him something just to send it, just to say you got one, or you’re going to make it stick? So that’s why I never just sent him a record, because I want something that’s going to stick.
As soon as I did the record, he was the first person that popped into my head. I’m like, ‘I got it.’”

Reflecting On The Last 10 Years Of His Career

“Yeah, a lot can change from then to now. You can tell the big difference in just the character, the music, the beat selection, and the entourage. Everything has changed from that point, but that’s where it started from. That’s where I get my motivation from.”

“Honestly, I didn’t even have a direction. I didn’t even have a goal. I didn’t know I’d be a real artist. I’d be doing arenas and festivals and stuff like that, so at that time I was just doing it just on some local, ‘I got the trenches on lock,’ type stuff. So my vision wasn’t as big as I would’ve thought it had been.”

On Having Mentors Like Swizz Beatz

“It’s important. Where I’m from, they don’t really do it like that. So, I’m saying ain’t a lot of leaders, where I’m from. It’s like whatever make money, the quick money. If it’s violence, if it’s this, they going to get to the money, but people like Swizz, and like my daddy, my mom, and a couple more people in my life, we’ve got something to prove, to show them we’re going to be the difference and we’re going to change the world. Because if you just look at this whole Chicago, it’s like everybody doing the same thing. Not too many want to change a lot. A lot trying to change, but can’t change because ain’t no way to. So, I hope I could be a platform for them.”

Lil Durk On Pushing Out Projects

“I’m really like, a studio head. Yeah, I’m just so much of a fan of music. I just spend all my time doing music. So, when you say ‘having fun,’ when I actually do go have fun, we feel just super good. No bad energy. Then do therapy, then talk to your friends. Let me give you an example. So, if I got my kids, and one of my guys probably see his kids but not like that, it’ll motivate him to keep his kids around more. That’s how I got motivated too, by bond.”

Lil Durk On Religion

“It keeps me sane. It keeps me stress-free. I don’t really look at everything like, “Oh, he got good luck. He got…” I believe in a higher power. As I say, the rug is what we pray on. So, whatever you believe in, whoever you believe in, if you believe in them and you’ve been through a lot of stuff in your life and you at a peaceful place, going to a happy place, I think you should get more into your religion.”

Lil Durk On Meeting NBA Legend Allen Iverson

“It was funny because it was me and French Montana in the club, and Allen Iverson pointed, and I thought he pointed at me. So I’m doing all this sh*t, and they walk up to me. He walked to French. So, I played it off like, ‘Damn, I thought you were talking to me.’ Then he turns around, like, ‘Man, bro, I f*ck with you.’ I’m like, ‘Oh…’ So that was one of the moments, with me and Allen Iverson.”

Island Boy Kodiyakredd’s Arrest Footage Leaks: “You Profiling Me”

One of the Island Boys, Kodiyakredd, was arrested last month following a domestic dispute. The artist, born Franky Venegas, was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend at the time. His now-ex, Amina Sobhi, claimed that she had attempted to break things off with him due to his “physically abusive behavior.” She alleges that the breakup attempt resulted in Venegas hitting her and pushing her into a pool. He was later charged with domestic battery. New leaked footage of the arrest shows the 21-year-old claiming to be profiled by a police officer.

“On my dead daddy you profiling me,” Venegas is heard screaming from the back of a police car in the footage. “I don’t care bro you’re profiling me. I swear to God…babe he’s profiling me.” He later claimed that he was being arrested for “no reason,” telling the officer that he “didn’t do nothing, homie.” Venegas is then shown in police custody, continuing to argue with officers. He shouts, “You see my juvenile record? My juvenile record’s extensive.” “Ok don’t play with me bro,” he also warns, “Alright bro, shut your Indian-a*s up. Don’t play with me. Real talk man stop playing with me.”

Kodiyakredd Says He’s Being Profiled

“I’m telling you, bro. I’m not the one to play with,” he’s later heard explaining, “What you make $20,000 a year, bro?” “I’ll make that in a day, I made that yesterday,” Venegas continues, “C’mon bro don’t come at me cuz, I’m not the one to play with.”

The other Island Boy, Flyysoulja, also recently took to social media to threaten to “beat [Snoop Dogg’s] a*s.” Snoop had made fun of the twins during a Peacock special alongside Kevin Hart, calling them “Two goofballs in the pool.” “If he were to say that to me in real life, on sight I would fade,” Flyysoulja responded at the time. “I swear to God on everything in my life I would.” Later, Snoop revealed on Instagram that he “don’t want no [smoke]” with the Island Boys.

Shaquille O’Neal Buys Giant Koi, Gives It A Hilarious Name

Shaquille O’Neal is always up to something. He joined the board of directors for Papa John’s back in 2019. Recently he dropped a freestyle rap that sampled Drowning Pool’s “Bodies”. However, one of Shaq’s biggest recent projects has involved renovations at his property in Georgia.

Enlisting the help of YouTuber Ed the Pond Professor, the NBA legend has been redeveloping a large area of his property to incorporate a water feature and pond system. According to Ed, who has 116,000 subscribers, the project involved moving 1 million pounds of rocks to create Shaq’s desired design.

To complete the pond, Shaq had a 35lb Yamabuki Koi shipped in from Japan. The fish was delivered by another YouTube channel, Fritz’s Fish Pond. While they only have a little over 5,000 followers, Fritz’s specializes in koi breeding and global distribution. To cap it all off, Shaq gave the fish a hilarious name.

The delivery of the massive koi was posted to Fritz’s Fish Ponds’ Instagram page. Evidently impressed by the fish, Shaq commented “I’m naming this fish Charles Barkley,” eliciting laughs from the gathered crowd.

Shaq co-hosts Inside the NBA alongside Barkley. While the two often butt heads while discussing the sport they once dominated, the pair reportedly have a good off-screen friendship. Barkley, who has widely praised the light shenanigans of the show, will likely see the humor in the naming.

However, Shaq’s renovations are not yet complete. Ed and the rest of the team have shown the project in progress. Still, we’re looking forward to seeing the full scope of the property once it’s complete. Maybe Shaq can build his ultimate All-NBA team with more Koi named after his basketball friends and colleagues.

A post shared by DR. SHAQUILLE O’NEAL Ed.D. (@shaq)

In more Shaq antics, the former NBA big man recently made his way to Home Depot. This came after a young woman employed by the hardware giant shunned OnlyFans in favor of her mundane 9-5. This video went viral on social media. This led to her being “milkshake ducked” after her derogatory about sex workers then surfaced.

Shaq got involved when he DM’d “Home Depot Girl” to tell her not to get too worked up about the fickle fortunes of social media. Desperate to right her viral ship, the woman then leaked Shaq’s DMs.

This led to a viral video of Shaq heading to Home Depot and donning the iconic orange apron. The video followed Shaq as he ambled around the store and mingled with real employees. As always, we hope that Shaq remains forever weird.
