Diddy’s Key To Miami Beach Expected To Be Rescinded After Arrest For Alleged Sex Trafficking

Miami Beach city officials are reportedly planning to strip Diddy of his key to the city after authorities in New York City arrested him on charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering, last month. According to TMZ, sources with direct knowledge of the situation say the move is in the final stage of negotiations. The day that it will occur, however, is unclear. Hurricane Milton is approaching Florida and could likely cause a delay in the move.

Former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine presented Diddy with the honor back in 2015 during the Revolt Music Conference at the Fontainebleau. He’s one of several celebrities who have accepted the honorary key, including Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, and more.

It won’t be the first time that a city has rescinded an honorary key from Diddy. After CNN published footage of the Bad Boy mogul hitting Cassie at a hotel in 2016, earlier this year, New York City Mayor Eric Adams condemned him. “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence,” Adams wrote in a statement at the time. “Our city has worked tirelessly to make sure survivors are heard and seen by our administration.” Adams had personally presented Diddy with the key back in 2023.

As for his current arrest, Diddy has already pleaded not guilty to the alleged crimes. He remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while awaiting trial. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, recently confirmed to TMZ that his client won’t be taking a plea deal and intends to argue his case in court. Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” continues to break records, as the Drake diss track recently became the song to spend the longest amount of time at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Rap Songs chart across the metric’s 35-year history. For those curious, the previous title defender was Lil Nas X’s 2019 breakout, “Old Town Road.” In the latest tracking week, the West Coast banger streamed 17.1 million times in the United States, garnered 2,000 digital downloads, and received 45.4 million radio audience impressions. As for the Hot 100, “Not Like Us” remains in the top ten (currently at No. 10) in its 21st consecutive week after previously topping the chart.

Furthermore, this song’s continued success is well-timed, as Kendrick Lamar recently submitted it for the Grammys next year. The categories that “Not Like Us” might be nominated for are the following: Record of the Year (production), Song of the Year (songwriting), Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. He, Future, and Metro Boomin also submitted “Like That” for consideration in all these categories, save for Best Music Video. Finally, K.Dot producer Sounwave said they also submitted “Euphoria,” but it’s unclear what categories they submitted it for consideration for.

Not only that, but this comes as rumors currently go wild over a potential Kendrick Lamar album coming soon. This is because of a recent Bloomberg report that claims that he will go on a stadium tour next year. In addition to this supposed trek, the Compton lyricist’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans next February also hints at a possible rollout on the way. Fingers crossed…

In fact, the Bloomberg report claims that both Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna turned down headlining at Coachella in 2025. While the piece attributes Kendrick’s decision to his supposedly upcoming tour and Super Bowl slot, no such explanation emerged for RiRi other than a growing business empire, plus a growing family. As such, we’re still in the dark when it comes to the pgLang creative’s next moves. But it’s clear that a lot of people are still enjoying the heck out of “Not Like Us” in the meantime.

For GloRilla, she really couldn’t have had any better of a year. Even though she hasn’t been doing this for that long, this may go down as her best stretch ever. She delivered her most solid release to date with Ehhthang Ehhthang (at least in our opinion) received tons of nominations across the board and dropped some of the biggest hits of 2024. “Yeah Glo!” was a terrific and empowering comeback for the Memphis native, as there was a lot of doubt surrounding her following a lackluster 2023 in some people’s eyes. “TGIF” may not be the better track, but it’s still a huge song, especially during the summer.

Now, in just a few short days, GloRilla will be looking to end things on an even stronger note with Glorious. This is her upcoming debut album, and it’s slated to hit DSPs on October 11. With us being this close, Big Glo is giving us some exciting things to chew over in the meantime. According to Billboard, she has just revealed the features and the tracklist, which is set at 15.

Chrisean Rock Calls Cap On Tamar Braxton’s Friend’s Assault Lawsuit

James Wright Chanel, a friend of Tamar Braxton’s, accused Chrisean Rock of allegedly attacking him. This allegedly went down backstage at Braxton’s concert in Los Angeles in November of last year. She received a 30-day prison sentence for this and a 12-month probation period. But it looks like things aren’t done. Moreover, according to alleged court documents reportedly obtained by In Touch Weekly, Rock dismissed the claims against her in the assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress lawsuit that alleges she caused “numerous physical injuries.” She doubts that Wright “suffered extreme mental anguish and severe emotional distress, as well physical pain and suffering.” Also, the reality TV star said his “conduct and actions” mean that she will not pay for damages.

“Defendant was crying and visibly upset because she stated everyone was lying about her not being where she was supposed to be for her part of the performance,” the lawsuit against Chrisean Rock reads. “Plaintiff believes […] and alleges that defendant was misinformed about her role that evening. She was only supposed to participate in the ending of the concert performance. […] Plaintiff tried to console defendant and confirmed to defendant that she was not in the designated area as everyone else said because he would have seen her.”

Furthermore Tamar Braxton claims that Wright “got hit in the face for being nice to a guest.” He claims that Chrisean Rock called him a homophobic slur. “Defendant became upset with plaintiff and stated that if he again said she was not where she was supposed to be she was going to hit him,” the lawsuit reads.

“Plaintiff politely told defendant, ‘I promise you, you were not on the side of the stage,’” the lawsuit against Chrisean Rock continued. “Defendant immediately, using the hand she was wearing large, champion-style rings, struck plaintiff several times in the face. Following the assault, defendant was being removed from the dressing room. [Defendant] continued to shout foul, obscene and insulting language toward plaintiff. [This includes] ‘F***ot-a** n***a’ and ‘I’ll hit that motherf***er again.’ A number of other people were in the dressing room who witness[ed] the assault against plaintiff.”

Miami Beach Planning to Rescind Diddy’s Key to the City

Diddy has already lost the key to New York City but will also lose his honor in Miami Beach. According to TMZ, Miami Beach officials are in the final steps of rescinding Diddy’s Key to the City.

The exact cancellation of Dddy’s honor is currently in the air with the threat of Hurricane Milton this week. Diddy was awarded the key by Miami Beach mayor Philip Levine in 2015 at the Revolt Music Conference.

In June, Diddy returned New York City’s Key to the City following a request from Mayor Eric Adams.

Mayor Adams expressed deep concern over a video involving Cassie, prompting him to ask for the prestigious honor back. TMZ obtained letters sent to Diddy’s offices in New York and Los Angeles, detailing the Mayor’s dismay over the incident.

After Mayor Eric Adams stated he would check into revoking Diddy’s key to New York City, the city council urged him to do so.

In case you missed it, in 2023, Diddy received the key from Mayor Adams, who now states he was “deeply disturbed” by the video.

“The committee and team have never rescined a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be,” Adams said to Pix11. “We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back to me with a final determination.”

In a statement to TMZ, council member Sandy Nurse says, “Mayor Adams should immediately revoke Diddy’s key to the city. As an abuser, Diddy lost his right to have such an honor and should be held accountable for his actions. Mayor Adams should set the example and take it away.”

Council Member Shaun Abreu added, “Mayor Adams should snatch back Diddy’s key and slam the door behind him. We won’t be missing you.”

2016 footage from the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles shows Diddy beating Cassie in the hotel’s hallway.

In the video released by CNN, Diddy is seen running down the hotel hallway in a towel to catch Cassie as she attempts to leave in an elevator. Diddy throws Cassie to the floor by her neck, followed by kicks, stomps and an attempt to drag her down the hall by her hood.

Cassie attempted to use a hotel phone, but Diddy pushed it to the ground again. Later in the video, he throws a vase at the singer.

Cassie’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, released the following statement: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

Cissy Houston, the celebrated gospel singer and mother of the late Whitney Houston, passed away at 91. She died peacefully Monday morning in her New Jersey home under hospice care for Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by family, her daughter-in-law Pat Houston confirmed to The Associated Press.

“Our hearts are filled with pain and sadness. We loss the matriarch of our family,” Pat Houston said in a statement.

“Mother Cissy has been a strong and towering figure in our lives. A woman of deep faith and conviction, who cared greatly about family, ministry, and community. Her more than seven-decade career in music and entertainment will remain at the forefront of our hearts.”

Houston gained fame as a member of the vocal group The Sweet Inspirations, singing backup for legends like Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin. The group also collaborated with The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Elvis Presley. Houston’s powerful vocals featured on hits like “Brown Eyed Girl” and “Burning of the Midnight Lamp.”

After her success with The Sweet Inspirations, Houston launched a successful solo career, recording over 600 songs across multiple genres. She collaborated with icons such as Luther Vandross, Beyoncé, and her daughter Whitney Houston. Houston won Grammys for her gospel albums “Face to Face” and “He Leadeth Me.”
