Blueface Poses Important Question From Behind Bars, Chrisean Rock Chimes In

For those who don’t know, Blueface reportedly turned himself in last week for violating his parole. This has prompted plenty of talk about his alleged crimes, his music, and of course, his controversial love life. Despite proposing to Jaidyn Alexis in October of last year, the mother of his third child Chrisean Rock has been showing increasing interest as of late. She was even spotted accompanying Blueface alongside their son when he turned himself in.

Chrisean later shocked fans when she professed her love for the “Thotiana” performer and called for his release. “#FreeBlueface [blue heart emoji] [rainy cloud emoji] [star emoji] I love you,” she wrote. It’s unclear where exactly he stands with Jaidyn at this point, but luckily, she appears to have turned her attention to a new special someone. Chrisean is far from the only person who wants to see Blueface freed, however.

Blueface Wonders, “Free Me Or Keep Me?”

Today, Blueface took to Instagram to share a photo of himself in a prison-themed fit from his “Better Days 2” music video with OG Bobby Billions. “Free me or Keep me? [circus emoji],” he asked fans. Of course, countless commenters are calling for his release. His mother, Karlissa Saffold, even chimed in. “Did the Lord give you anything for us,” she wrote. “Free my baby.” Chrisean also jumped in to say “free you.”

The post has also added to speculation that he’s using his stint in jail as a publicity stunt. “At this point I don’t think you in jail fr,” one user writes. After all, he did just drop his Free Blueface EP the day after his arrest. What do you think of Blueface taking to Instagram to ask fans whether they should “free or keep” him? What about Chrisean Rock calling for his release? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

YG & Kehlani: Revisiting Their Relationship Timeline

Though Hollywood power couples can often be incredibly messy, rappers and R&B singers can sometimes go together like peanut butter and jelly. Artists such as A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have proven success in this field, while the likes of YG and Kehlani were only officially dating for a few short months. Though the “Konclusions” vocalists stunned media outlets with their undeniable charisma, their brief fling ultimately failed to last long enough to join the ranks of Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Here’s a full timeline of YG and Kehlani’s short-lived relationship.

2014: The Pair Meet As Their Careers Begin To Reach New Heights

Although the precise details of their initial encounter are unclear, rumors suggest YG and Kehlani first connected during music industry events in 2014. Kehlani confirmed this once the pair began dating in 2019, stating she had known the rapper for over five years, since the respective releases of their 2014 albums Cloud19 and My Krazy Life.

In fact, Kehlani stated that YG hollered at her long before they started seeing each other. However, she had no interest in dating him at the time due to her aversion to celebrity couples and “industry people.”

September 6, 2019: YG & Kehlani Confirm That They Are Dating

The pair stepped out at New York Fashion Week in September 2019, holding hands and showing each other affection in front of the cameras. When asked if they were an official couple, Kehlani coyly offered an affirmative response. This shocked some fans, as each of the musicians had recently welcomed children with other people. Kehlani gave birth to her first child in March 2019, whom she shares with guitarist Javie Young-White. YG conversely welcomed his second daughter with Catelyn Sparks in July of the same year.

October 2019: YG Is Caught Cozying Up With Another Woman

After unveiling their relationship to the world, the Compton, California rapper caught attention by canoodling with a female fan on camera in Los Angeles. Reps for YG took to The Shade Room to make a statement on his behalf, while the rapper himself shared a now-deleted Instagram story that read, “I love Kehlani I would never.” According to his PR team, YG “was drunk, got carried away and it was very regretful for putting himself in that situation and hurting Kehlani. He has no romantic connection to the girl, just a drunken moment carried away.”

Though Kehlani didn’t comment publicly about the situation, she took to social media to delete several images of the pair spending time together. However, the controversy didn’t end their relationship, as they continued to see each other without problems for at least another month.

December 2019: The Pair Split For The First Time

In early December, roughly a month and a half after the Los Angeles incident, Kehlani announced her breakup to the world. The singer, who was 24 years old at the time, took to social media to assure fans, “I am single. and focused.” This announcement came after some fans speculated Kehlani had become romantically involved with Tory Lanez, which she voraciously denied. Kehlani clarified that she met Lanez to collaborate on a song, though the two never shared a romance of any kind.

YG and Kehlani would get back together shortly after this time, though the exact date is unknown to the public. Suffice it to say, their December breakup didn’t last long, as the couple were once again in each other’s arms before February.

February 13, 2020: The Pair Reconcile & Release A Song Together

YG and Kehlani got back together and released a lovey-dovey song titled “Konclusions” on February 13, 2020, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The song confirmed to the public that their relationship was officially back on, substantiating earlier rumors that the rapper had gotten Kehlani’s name tattooed on his wrist just a week before. The song features lyrics such as “When I say I love you, that means I love you. No matter what conclusion we come to, I’m the one you run to” highlighting their dedication to one another.

February 17, 2020: Kehlani Announces Her Breakup From YG With A New Song

Just days later, Kehlani released a heartbreaking song titled “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” which features lyrics regarding infidelity in a relationship. The singer would go on to express to fans that the lyrics are very literal to her relationship with YG and describe the events leading to their ultimate breakup. Further, Kehlani has since clarified that she and YG ended on good terms and have agreed to not make things awkward when they cross paths in public or at music events. Though the pair made such a splash as a couple, they are no longer close following the breakup.

January 16, 2024: YG Flirts In Kehlani’s Instagram Comments

Now, nearly four years after the split, YG has ignited rumors that the pair might get back together. This news comes as reports stated YG and Saweetie have split, though the rapper now denies that this is the case. During the time these reports were circulating, YG commented on a gym selfie from Kehlani, using just the “OK” hand emoji. Though this flirtatious comment aroused confusion from fans, YG claims he and Saweetie are still together, so nothing ultimately came of the interaction.

Who Is 4Batz? The Viral Singer Behind “act ii: date @ 8”

Historically speaking, most up-and-coming rappers and singers spend months or years trying to break into the industry before building up enough buzz to finally get recognition by Billboard charts. Jay-Z famously turned away J. Cole after a chance meeting in New York as Cole was trying to give him a CD with the very tunes that would inspire Jay to sign the 2014 Forest Hills Drive rapper years later. With the advent of platforms such as TikTok, however, rappers have been able to break onto the scene with immediate viral success, bypassing the preexisting barriers to the music industry with relative ease.

This is the case for 4batz, who exploded onto the scene with the recent two-pack release of “act I: stickerz 99” and “act ii: date @ 8.” The latter has even landed at No. 16 on Billboard‘s Hot R&B Songs chart. In addition to blowing up seemingly overnight and becoming a viral sensation, the rapper has also received co-signs from massive figures in the hip hop world such as Drake, Timbaland, and more, even appearing on a Facetime call with Kanye West. This meteoric rise has prompted many fans to wonder where he came from and where to follow him for more.

4batz Is A Dallas Native

4batz got his start growing up in Dallas and honed his craft before appearing on the hit web series From The Block. The series, which highlights local artists across the country, showcased the young up-and-coming artist’s skills with a December performance of his second track ever. 4batz shocked viewers around the world with his laid-back melodic sound, as he looks like the kind of rapper Danny Brown might refer to as “rapping like Batman.” Due to his status as a new figure in the music scene, very little is known about 4batz’s early origins. However, the artist will certainly be providing fans with a plethora of new info via lyrics and interviews in the coming months.

His Voice Is Surprising & Unique

The ski mask, gold grills, and general demeanor of 4batz may lead prospective listeners to believe the ensuing music will be full of rough and rugged lyrics about street life and smoking opps. Yet, 4batz has taken his sound in a completely different direction. The 22-year-old artist approaches the mic with a soothing, boyish tenor resembling Frank Ocean or Brent Faiyaz more closely than Chief Keef or DMX.

The melodic flows present within “act ii: date @ 8” have shocked crowds with their laid-back grooves and allowed listeners to lose themselves in the refreshing melodies of 4batz’s pitched-up croons. This juxtaposition between the rapper’s look and sound makes for some of the most creative and unique artistry in modern music and completes a persona that could only have been born and bred in the internet age.

He Touts An Impressive Online Following

Like many modern rappers, 4batz blew up primarily through TikTok before his landmark On The Block performance exposed his music to a wider array of fans. He currently touts an impressive following of just under 300,000 followers on the social media platform. After recently blowing up, 4batz holds 3.8 million monthly Spotify listeners. While these figures may not be impressive when compared to record-breaking artists such as Drake, this is surely a massive accomplishment for a singer with only two released tracks. By these figures, 4batz may be one of the most successful pound-for-pound singers to come out of the internet era.

Fans Are Eagerly Waiting For His Next Move

Based on the naming conventions of 4batz’s first two records, fans are currently anticipating the release of a rumored “act iii” track. It remains unknown whether this titling choice exists only for “act I: stickerz 99” and “act ii: date @ 8” or if he plans to continue the trend. Regardless, whatever the artist does next could make or break his newfound following, cementing him in the music world as more than a flash in the pan. While a full-length album is likely a ways away, the artist will almost surely have new music to please his growing base of listeners in the coming weeks. 4batz may have exploded onto the scene incredibly abruptly. Still, his incredible talent and newfound success have gone a long way toward securing his future in music.

Earlier today, Lupe Fiasco caused chaos after reacting to an interview that Kid Cudi recently did for Apple Music. In it, Cudi described hiding from Fiasco (and all other rappers) who came into his job in 2008 while working at a Bape store. His reasoning? He didn’t want it to be used for any diss tracks — and pointed out that Fiasco “hates me ’til this day.”

“Kid Cudi is a b*tch,” Fiasco posted on Twitter/X. “And continues to be a b*tch. Ain’t nobody finna bring up he used to work at the Bape Store to diss his b*tch ass for having a regular job before he was a famous b*tch with a cool job.”

However, instead of fighting back, Cudi appeared to extend an olive branch to Fiasco on social media. “Love u g,” he wrote, tagging the fellow musician directly, along with a prayer emoji. “Im sorry if i hurt u man. Life is too short. Hope u can find it in ur heart to get past this.”

“Lupe love me yall dont get it twisted,” Cudi added in a now-deleted tweet. “He just hurt. He beefin w himself at this point. Holdin that much hate in ur heart for someone for so long holds u back in life bro. Thats the devil using u. Hope he finds some peace man. Now its just sad.”

Fiasco himself has since responded and seemingly forgiven Cudi for the matter. “All I needed…” he quoted of Cudi’s post.

Kid Cudi Offers Apology To Lupe Fiasco, Reaches Out To Talk

Earlier today a new interview of Kid Cudi done by Zane Lowe for Apple Music dropped. In the interview he discusses his new album INSANO extensively. He opened up on seeing a Kendrick Lamar live show that changed his creative approach to the project. But he also told a story about Lupe Fiasco. In particular, he detailed a time he hid from the rapper while working at a Bape store in New York so that it didn’t come back to bite him if he became famous.

Lupe didn’t take too kindly to the story and re-ignited a years long beef between the pair with an eruption on Twitter. He detailed the full history of their drama dating back to when he first reached out to Cudi as a fan. He explained how things went bad when Cudi called him out publicly over money and refused to elaborate when pressed further. But after his full explanation seemed to wrap up, Cudi responded seemingly reaching out an olive branch to his fellow rapper. Check out Cudi’s newest tweets about the situation below.

Yasiin Bey’s 7 Best Underrated Hip Hop Tracks

Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, recently made headlines after sitting down with The Cutting Room Floor for a rare interview. During the conversation, he was asked about whether or not he considers Drake to be hip hop. As he laughed, the rap legend responded, “Drake is pop to me. In the sense, like, if I was in Target in Houston, and I heard a Drake song. It feels like a lot of his music is compatible with shopping. Or, as you know, shopping with an edge in certain instances.” Bey continued about Drake, saying that his music is “likable” and joked about shopping, exclaiming, “So many SKUs!” On a more serious note regarding the Canadian rapper, he asks, “What happens when this thing collapses?”

Bey’s remarks took the internet by storm, with Drake’s response referencing an old Method Man interview. The debate on whether or not Drizzy is hip hop divided the rap community, with purists backing Yasiin Bey’s opinion and others coming to Drake’s defense. Many also criticized the artist formerly known as Mos Def for a Fashion Week performance, calling it hypocritical after calling out Drake for making “shopping music.”

No matter the position one takes on his comments, Yasiin Bey is one of hip hop’s most respected lyricists. His prolific career speaks for itself, with classic records including Black On Both Sides and the first Black Star album with Talib Kweli. Beyond his most well-known works are plenty of gems within his discography. Today, we are taking a look into Yasiin Bey’s best underrated hip hop songs. Check out the list below.

7. “Zimzallabim” (2004)

While not as highly regarded as his debut album, Yasiin Bey’s 2004 sophomore effort, The New Danger, includes numerous underrated highlights. The album combined hip hop with psychedelic rock and soul, with the help of many producers and his band, Black Jack Johnson. One track that effortlessly displays this combination of genres is “Zimzallabim.” Co-produced by Easy Mo Bee and Bey himself, Yasiin applies his signature rap style to a rock-fused track, resulting in one of his most confident vocal performances. The song breathed new life into Bey’s eccentric rap style and remains one of his most underrated hip hop songs.

6. “Champion Requiem” (2004)

“Champion Requiem,” the closing track on The New Danger, is a standout moment that deserves more shine. Produced by 88-Keys, who lent beats to Black on Both Sides and Black Star’s debut, the upbeat track allows Bey to spit tough bars. Some of his best flows are on this song as he keeps up with the thumping groove. Compared to the off-kilter production on the rest of the album, “Champion Requiem” perfectly blends Yasiin’s traditional style with the album’s funky approach.

5. “Revelations” (2009)

Many of Yasiin Bey’s best underrated hip hop songs come from his fourth studio album, 2009’s The Ecstatic. Seen as a return to form by many following True Magic, The Ecstatic saw a reinvigorated Bey applying his conscious rap style across a range of musical influences. The album’s quirky and adventurous soundscape contained beats from many producers, including Madlib. The Beat Konducta produced “Revelations,” originally an instrumental from his Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix album. Yasiin Bey’s relaxed flow matches the ominous production and his sung melodies enhance the unique production. Songs like “Revelations” helped foreshadow the sound of Black Star’s Madlib-produced No Fear of Time.

4. “Wahid” (2009)

Another underrated Yasiin Bey song and one of the four beats that Madlib contributed to The Ecstatic is “Wahid.” Bey manages to float over the abrasive production, smoothly flowing over the unpredictable instrumentation. “Wahid” may be a short song, but it is unparalleled in Yasiin Bey’s discography. It is a hard-hitting Madlib production that contains some of Bey’s most impressive rhyming. On an experimental album, it provides a burst of energy that leaves quite the impression.

3. “Black Fantastic” (2013)

Yasiin Bey’s close collaborator and tour DJ, Preservation, remixed The Ecstatic in 2013, giving each song a reworked instrumental. The album, titled The REcstatic, includes a standout track titled “Black Fantastic.” The Minnesota-produced song replaced “Casa Bey” as the album’s closer, featuring the same lyrics but delivered differently over a gorgeous beat. The stunning piano-based instrumental creates an excellent backdrop for Yasiin to reimagine “Casa Bey” in a brand new, arguably superior way. “Black Fantastic” is an underrated deep cut in Yasiin’s discography.

2. “History” feat. Talib Kweli (2009)

Between Black Star’s seminal 1998 debut and their 2022 return with No Fear of Time, Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli released a number of individual collaborations. “History” is quintessential Black Star, featuring a soulful instrumental from the late J Dilla. Both Bey and Kweli sound comfortable over the beat, which samples Mary Wells’s “Two Lovers History.” Outside of the exciting and rare union between both members of Black Star, “History” is arguably one of their best collaborations ever, as it highlights their collaborative chemistry.

1. “Sensei On The Block” (2015)

Over a decade since his last solo album, Yasiin Bey appears to go wherever the wind takes him musically. Whether it is a sound installation, the long-awaited Black Star album, or a rare guest feature, his next move cannot be predicted. In 2015, Ski Beatz promoted a track he produced for Bey titled “Sensei On the Block.” The single saw him returning to the “Mos Def” moniker. However, Yasiin Bey released a statement following its release, saying that “any music that’s been released under that name is without [his] consent” and that “it’s being sold illegally.” Despite it being released against his permission, the song is definitely underrated. Bey’s lyrical performance is on par with some of his most classic works, and the steel drum-laced instrumental still sounds fresh nine years later.

Earlier this week, a resurfaced Facebook post from a Florida police department started making its rounds online. Allegedly, he was caught “touching the backside of multiple people including children.”

As the news spread, Lil Boom took to Instagram to defend himself, arguing that if he had done such a thing it would have been documented. “I fell off already bub u shoulda tried to cap on me in like 2018,” he wrote. “This is so cap n***a if this was true i’d be on a f*cking registry.” Now, however, security footage from the alleged incident has surfaced.
