What Is Maluma’s Best-Selling Album?

One of the best-selling artists in Latin music, Maluma currently has six studio albums to his name. Traversing the soundscapes of reggaeton, trap, and pop, the singer-songwriter has been active since the early 2010s. From the vibrant streets of Medellín, Colombia, Maluma has since risen to the glitzy stages of superstardom. At the latest Grammys ceremony, he was nominated in the Best Latin Pop category. Although he didn’t take home the gold, the quality of his work might ensure his win sometime soon.

Since Maluma debuted, all the albums he has released have been well received by listeners. As a result, each of them have performed well commercially. However, one album sits above the rest in terms of overall sales. The artist’s best-selling project, unsurprisingly, has remained a fan-favorite.

The Impressive Sales Of F.A.M.E.

Fe, Alma, Música, Esencia (F.A.M.E.) was released on May 18, 2018. It is Maluma’s third studio album, and to date, is his most commercially successful project. Following his notably successful sophomore album, F.A.M.E. marked a significant milestone in Maluma’s career. Emphatically, it solidified his status as a global superstar. Furthermore, he earned a nomination at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards in the Top Latin Album category for the project.

Since its release, F.A.M.E. has earned certifications in seven countries, the most of any other of Maluma’s albums. With over 600,000 units sold in the US, the album is Diamond-certified (10x Platinum) by the RIAA’s Latin division. So far, it is the only Diamond-certified album in Maluma’s discography. It is Gold in Italy (25,000 units), Poland (10,000 units), and Switzerland (10,000 units). Additionally, it has gone 3x Platinum in Colombia, and 4x Platinum in Mexico where it’s sold 240,000 units. Finally, in Brazil, the Pro-Música Brazil has awarded it a Platinum certification for 40,000 album units sold.

In the US, Latin albums have been eligible to be RIAA-certified since 2000, so Maluma’s certifications fall into the category. As long as the body of work contains at least 51% Spanish content, then it’s worthy of this special Latin certification. Although F.A.M.E. is a trilingual album, it contains enough Spanish to meet the RIAA qualifications. Interestingly, the metrics for earning RIAA certifications differ between Latin and American albums. For example, a typical American album needs to sell 500,000 units to earn a gold certification. However, a Latin album only needs 30,000 certified album sales to go gold in the US. Likewise, the number of units required to earn a platinum or diamond certification respectively are 60,000 and 600,000 units.

The Staying Power Of F.A.M.E.

Maluma has released three additional albums since F.A.M.E., all with varying degrees of success. However, none of them have reached the commercial heights the singer’s third album has scaled. Featuring smash hits like “Corazón” and “Felices Los 4,” the album is a testament to Maluma’s commercial appeal. Equally, it showcases the singer’s versatility, blending several genres and musical elements to create a dynamic musical journey. The authenticity and excellence of F.A.M.E. helped Maluma secure a Latin Grammy win in 2018. Those same attributes have made the album and its songs stay in heavy rotation over the years. Although it’s been almost six years since it was released, F.A.M.E. continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of Latin music.

Chrisean Rock’s Alleged Tamar Braxton Concert Victim Presses Charges

In November of last year, Chrisean Rock made headlines for allegedly punching a backup singer in the face at a Tamar Braxton concert. Now, it appears as though she’s facing legal consequences. Reportedly, she had been under the impression that she would be allowed to perform some of her own songs at Braxton’s show, but was whisked offstage before she could do so. This upset Chrisean, prompting her to allegedly take her anger out on a nearby target. The unfortunate alleged victim, James Wright Chanel, accuses her of punching him in the nose and chipping his tooth in the process. Reportedly, he filed against her yesterday (February 6).

Shortly after the incident, Chanel took to social media to share his side of the story, claiming to have been nothing but an “innocent bystander.” Chrisean later addressed the allegations on social media, seemingly denying any wrongdoing. “I don’t get disrespectful till you get disrespectful,” she Tweeted. She later chalked the debacle up to “clout chasing” on Instagram Live.

James Wright Chanel Seeks Justice

“I don’t know what’s going on, and why ni**as is popping like I’m not just a female,” she explained. “The clout-chasing s**t is getting out of hand. It was nothing between me and Tamar… I don’t know, it was just like wicked stuff started happening.” Amid the fallout from the incident, another one of Braxton’s team members, LeTroy, came forward in Chanel’s defense. He insisted that Chrisean be held accountable for her actions, which he said resulted in backlash from the Baddies star’s fanbase. Allegedly, her supporters even started showing up at his house after he spoke out against her.

What do you think of James Wright Chanel formally pressing charges against Chrisean Rock for allegedly punching him in the face at Tamar Braxton’s concert? Are you surprised? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Why Were Dreezy And Deiondra Sanders Beefing About Jacquees On Twitter?

Just when it seemed that the dust was settling from Nicki Minaj’s attacks on Megan Thee Stallion and whatever is going on between Latto and Ice Spice, a new feud hit our timelines. This one was just a little bit different though; instead of two rappers beefing over record sales or public affection, there’s a much more personal angle involved.

After breaking up with R&B singer Jacquees, it looks like Chicago rapper Dreezy has been having some trouble with her former flame, resulting in a tiff with his new interest, Deiondra Sanders (NFL legend Deion Sanders‘ daughter). It all started on Tuesday (February 6), with Dreezy posting some cryptic tweets that seemed as tho she was taking shots at some identified rival.

At first, no one knew just who she was addressing, but whoever it was antagonized Dreezy to the point of posting a screenshot of a text conversation between her and her ex Jacquees in which he begged her to take him back and she unequivocally rejected his latest advances. “I want you I don’t want her,” he wrote, noting that he also wanted to have kids with her.

The screenshot put her earlier comments (now deleted) into context; Dreezy was apparently beefing with Deiondra Sanders, whom Jacquees has apparently been dating for some time. Sanders’ Twitter page reveals her responses to Dreezy’s needling, with her own obtuse responses: “Why would he switch out a dime for a penny?” she asked. “Obsessed is when you still sending underwear with your face on it to the crib.”

Of course, fans couldn’t resist weighing in on the drama, commenting that there are no real “winners” in this situation. But the real loser just might be Jacquees, who appears to have fumbled both women and gotten beat up by Trey Songz in the span of a month. Prime is probably so disappointed in him.

Roland Martin Calls Out JAY-Z Over Grammys Speech

Roland Martin called out JAY-Z for his speech at the 2024 Grammy Awards, during which he railed against the Recording Academy while accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. Speaking on his Unfiltered show, Martin argued that the legendary rapper should’ve refused to accept the honor until changes were made at the ceremony to assist hip-hop artists. Martin noted that the rap categories were not broadcast live on TV.

“JAY-Z, if you want the Grammys to change, you should’ve said, ‘I will not accept this award nor will I attend until y’all put one of the rap categories on the televised broadcast,” Martin said. “JAY-Z, Dr. Dre, y’all make it clear, whoever they want to give the award to next year, you make it clear we ain’t showing up unless y’all make the rap album of the year part of the broadcast. I guarantee you it’s gonna cause some folks to say, ‘We better do it or we’re gonna lose the star power… You pull the star power, ratings go down. When ratings go down, they lose money. We know in America, when they lose money, stuff changes.”

On stage, JAY-Z primarily took issue with the Recording Academy never recognizing Beyonce for Album of the Year, despite giving her the most awards in history. “I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year,” he said. “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work. Obviously, it’s subjective because it’s music. It’s opinion-based. Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed– some of you don’t belong in the category.” Check out Martin’s response to the comments below.

Beastie Boys: Where Are They Now?

Beastie Boys, a pioneering Hip Hop group formed in New York in 1981, left a lasting mark on the music industry with their innovative blend of rap, punk, and funk. Comprising members Ad-Rock, MCA, and Mike D, the Beastie Boys achieved critical acclaim and commercial success. However, after the passing of MCA in 2012, the group disbanded. Since then, fans have been curious about the whereabouts and activities of the group’s members. Here’s what the members of Beastie Boys have been up to.

Beastie Boys: A Seamless Leap Into Hip Hop

Beastie Boys was formed in 1981 out of the members of the hardcore punk band The Young Aborigines. The group was created with members Diamond (Mike D), Kate Schellenbach, MCA, and John Berry, but when Berry left shortly after, he was replaced by Ad-Rock. Although the group started as a hardcore punk band, they later transitioned into Hip Hop. Subsequently, they became one of the first successful white rap groups. The group gained prominence in 1983 with their first Hip Hop single “Cooky Puss” which was a great success.

Throughout their career, the Beastie Boys released several critically acclaimed albums including Paul’s Boutique, Check Your Head, and License To Ill, among others. They experimented with sampling, live instrumentation, and socially conscious lyrics, earning praise for their musical innovation and cultural impact. The group won three Grammys and four VMAs throughout their active years. Beastie Boys was subsequently announced as an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for the 2012 ceremony.

Members Mike D and Ad-Rock eventually released a memoir in 2018 titled Beastie Boys Book. It specifically recounts the events that occurred throughout the group’s history. The book was later adapted into a documentary two years later. While the Beastie Boys, as a performing and recording entity, have ended, their legacy lives on. This is particularly evident through their groundbreaking contributions to Hip Hop.

Adam Keefe Horovitz, popularly known as Ad-Rock, joined the band in the early 1980s. He significantly contributed to the group’s transformation from a punk band to a pioneering force in Hip Hop. Known for his energetic and often humorous lyrical style, he helped shape the Beastie Boys’ eclectic fusion. Beyond his work with the group, however, Ad-Rock has been involved in many other musical and creative projects

He has helped remix various tracks for other artists under the alias, 41 Small Stars. Furthermore, he has also explored acting, with roles in films such as Lost Angels, A Kiss Before Dying, and Golden Exits. In the aftermath of Adam Yauch’s (MCA) death, Ad-Rock went on to star as himself in the documentaries Bad Reputation and Beastie Boys Story. He married Kathleen Hanna in 2006, and the pair are still going strong.

Michael Louis Diamond, also known as Mike D was a founding member of the Beastie Boys. He has since released remixed music, and also began working with the rock band, Portugal. He also hosted the Apple Music podcast The Echo Chamber from 2016 to 2022. In 1993, Diamond tied the knot with Tamra Davis, a director involved in film, television, and music videos. However, they have since undergone a legal separation. The couple shares two children, Davis Diamond and Skyler Diamond, who later collaborated to form the musical group known as Very Nice Person.

MCA

Adam Yauch, better known as MCA, was an American rapper, bassist, filmmaker, and founding member of the Beastie Boys. In addition to his musical endeavors, MCA established Oscilloscope Laboratories, an independent film production and distribution company in 2002. Under the company, he produced Bad Brains’ album, Build a Nation, and distributed Kelly Reichardt’s Wendy and Lucy as well as Lynne Ramsey’s We Need To Talk About Kevin. When the Beastie Boys were being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, MCA was sadly too sick to attend. However, his bandmates paid tribute to him and read a letter from him to the audience.

Tragically, he passed away on May 4, 2012, at the age of 47 from parotid cancer. His death marked the end of an era for the Beastie Boys. Moreover, his contributions to both the music industry and social activism are remembered and celebrated by fans worldwide. In memory of MCA, his bandmates and friends organized events like the annual Beastie Boys Book events. This has since celebrated the legacy of the group, and their impact on the culture.

Kanye West Could Perform At Pyramids Of Giza & Great Wall Of China

With the first volume of Vultures only days away from dropping, it looks like Kanye West could have some exciting shows lined up in the near future. According to a new screenshot, he was allegedly offered opportunities to perform at various major international venues recently. In the conversation, Ye’s seemingly informed that the Corcovado in Brazil, the Great Wall of China, and the Giza Pyramids would “love to have” him.

It’s unclear whether or not Ye will actually perform at any of these destinations. It wouldn’t be the first time fans saw him at a historic venue, however. Back in August, Travis Scott performed at the iconic Circus Maximus in Italy after his own scheduled show at the Giza Pyramids was canceled. During the show, he brought Ye onstage for a couple of songs.

Kanye West Seemingly Offered International Shows

The alleged screenshots surfaced after Ye shared that he was having trouble getting venues to book him. He suggested that it’s due to his infamous 2022 antisemitism scandal. He had already secured a spot at Chicago’s United Center on February 9 but was out of luck elsewhere. Fortunately, after hearing Ye’s plea, several of his well-connected friends reached out with opportunities.

Shortly after, talk of a 2024-2025 world tour began after Ye posted a screenshot of some tentative tour dates. Potential destinations could include Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Cairo, Dubai, Tokyo, and more. Clearly, there are still plenty of venues willing to host Ye, but fans will just have to wait and see what ends up being confirmed. What do you think of rumors that Kanye West could perform at the Corcovado, the Great Wall of China, or the Pyramids of Giza? Which venue would you like to see him perform at?
