Halle & Don Toliver Tune Our Moods On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Our new R&B Season playlist update is here to round up the best of the best releases in the genre of the week, and we have a lot of variety and quality to wade through. Guiding us through that is the new single from Halle, “In Your Hands,” which is a perseverant, passionate, and dramatic record. With subtle but soothing guitar playing, a dynamic vocal performance, and well-measured swells, this is probably one of the more inspirational or grand cuts you’ll hear this week. On the more wavy and chill tip, we have a brand-new song from Don Toliver, “Deep in the Water,” which is rhythmically very creative in its fusions and is paired with some chilling but charming synth patches.

As far as trademark contemporary R&B, though, few tracks will put you in that zone this week quite like PARTYNEXTDOOR’s new single “R e a l W o m a n.” P4 can’t come soon enough for fans, because this is exactly the type of sultry, low-tempo, and entrancing track that they’ve been waiting for years for. Along a similar vein, mixing soulful sensibilities with trap instrumentation, we have SZA and Cardi B’s remix of Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me.” There’s great chemistry between all these female forces on this light and relaxing beat, and the melody will drill itself into your head with ease.

Meanwhile, we also have a big album to cover this week in Justin Timberlake’s Everything I Thought It Was. As a pop record, it plays with a lot of sounds and styles, but the melodies and dancehall inspirations on “Liar” with Fireboy DML are a fitting inclusion here. If you want more modern R&B, then check out PARIS.’s new track “BNB,” a straight-up trap beat with dexterous vocal melodies on top. It won’t be the most original cut you’ll hear on this update, but the charisma and cheeky lyrical matter will get you into the song’s vibe.

Finally, our favorite release of the week has to go to Baby Rose and BADBADNOTGOOD’s absolutely gorgeous single “One Last Dance.” Rose’s voice is deep, delicate, but so wondrous and emotive, whereas the combination of organ, light drums, woodwinds, guitar plucks, and more on here create something truly enchanting. During a recent interview with Forbes, the hitmaker chatted about how she keeps herself grounded amid her success and constantly strives to become a better version of herself. She revealed that aside from keeping people around who hold her accountable, she always pushes herself to improve.

“I have great intentions,” she began. “And I know that at the end of the day, if I just pushed myself to focus on becoming a better me whether it’s in my tone, my delivery, my attitude, my routine of waking up in the morning, waking up earlier, going to church every Sunday, writing in my journal, that’s how I got to this place now.“

“I’m blessed to also have such amazing people in my life to keep me levelheaded,” she also added. “So I’ll call them and be like ‘yo’ and if I’m in a place where I say something or do something, they’ll check me. They’ll check me in a way where they’ll be ‘you should have approached it in this way, you could have handled it like this’ and you know what, you’re right.” Fortunately, this approach also allows Coi to remain cool, calm, and collected even in the face of adversity. Last week, for example, she weighed in on the newly passed TikTok ban bill and didn’t seem concerned at all.

“TikTok is not a streaming platform,” she told Twitter/X followers. “And I never looked at it as one. I’m not worried. As long as you don’t take away Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, Tidal, [Audiomack], YouTube Music, Amazon Music, I’m good. Kim Kardashian Takes Saint West To A Chaotic Lakers Game

Kim Kardashian was once again playing the role of sports mom as she and her son Saint West were spotted courtside for the Lakers’ matchup against the Warriors this week. Kim sported a tight-fitting white tee and black leather pants while Saint wore an oversized LeBron jersey. Other big-name fans taking in the game were Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez as well as the Kardashian-affiliated Bad Bunny.

However, the game itself was chaotic. The final two minutes of play took over 20 minutes to complete due to a myriad of issues. Darvin Ham challenged an out-of-bounds call that won the Lakers the ball but cost the team points due to a prior LeBron three being ruled out on review. The game was delayed by yet more reviews before the shot clock decided to simply stop working. Despite 40 points from LeBron, the Lakers fell 128-121. During the turmoil, Kim and Saint posed for several pictures for courtside photographers. Kim also spoke with fans while Saint flashed a peace sign at the cameras.

Elsewhere, Kim was a proud mom last month, posting a makeshift highlight reel of Saint playing basketball. Of course, Saint isn’t the only hooper in the family. A recent TikTok by North West showing off some impressive dribbling ability has been met with a wave of hilarious reactions from fans. While many people were impressed by West’s ball handling, more than a few commenters couldn’t help but crack some jokes. “CP3 a good trainer yea,” one fan wrote. The short comment refers to claims that Kanye West made in 2022 that Kardashian had cheated on him with Chris Paul. Moreover, she shared during this interview that she actually didn’t mean what she said about her former partner liking anal stimulation with her fingers. Turns out that was just a way to get at him, but the model does have a particular request for him that could make up for all the hassle. She referenced how she was the Chicago artist’s muse for his critically acclaimed 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, as they dated during its recording in 2009.

“I should’ve got $20 million for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. But I got nothing,” Amber Rose remarked. “I should’ve gotten money for the wax figure that he used without my consent. Butt naked! But I didn’t get nothing. I didn’t get any money from anything. I should have been compensated in some way for using my likeness, and so many songs and the wax figure.” The wax figure refers to how Ye used one for his “Famous” music video in 2016.

“I invented every style of music of the past 20 years, I created the genre. I created Weeknd’s genre. Trav, Drake, everybody. I’mma go ahead and say with all love, Future and Thug also because the auto-tune album, 808s,” he explained. “Everybody thinks about Trav, Weeknd, and Drake but no one thinks about Future and Thug also. The auto-tune album. Now everyone, they added whatever it was to it. But here’s a new genre. It’s called making your own money genre. This music is called, like, take that middle man out.”

Shortly after the interview dropped, Boosie Badazz hopped on Instagram to share his take, claiming that Ye is in no way responsible for his music. “NOT ALL GENRES NOT EVERY STYLE,” he said. “NOT BOOSIE MUSIC. YOU CAN’T RELATE TO NOTHING I RAP ABOUT R YOUR MUSIC. NOBODY LISTENS TO KANYE IN THE PROJECTS R THE TRENCHES IM, A GON HEAD N SAY IT ‘ MY PEOPLE DO NOT RELATE TO YOU.’” Now, Ye has responded, and thrown a bit of shade in the process.

“I JUST SAW THAT ‘WIPE ME DOWN’ WAS MADE IN 2007,” he wrote on his Instagram Story today. “I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHATEVER THAT GENRE WOULD BE CALLED.” Clearly, Ye didn’t appreciate Boosie calling him out, and only time will tell whether or not he’ll fire back again. According to her, the track was initially going to be a 30-second interlude on her upcoming album, but friends and family urged her to give it the credit it deserves. She says that after first writing it, she only liked the hook, and later decided to rewrite the remainder of the song and release it as a single.

“The hook is based [on] being in love, being in a relationship and knowing that you know, your future with this person is just beautiful and the love that you have with this person is beautiful but also knowing your worth,” she explained. “The verses that I wrote, I wrote when I was pregnant, and in a way, it has like a double meaning. So the verses almost are to Halo, because I felt like I was singing to him just about how I’m always going to be here for him, and my journey as his mother, and all these things.”
