Megan Thee Stallion is hard at work on a new album, which means 2024 is bound to be another Hot Girl Summer after Diddy tried to have us all acting bad in 2023. However, the Houston native has said she’s unsure how many “pop that a**” songs she plans to include on the tracklist, as she hopes to remind the world of her rap skills first and foremost. Some music lovers are disappointed by this news, but others see it as a chance for other rap divas to shine with their NSFW tracks, such as Sexyy Red.

Over the past year, the St. Louis native has steadily dropped bangers on us, from “SkeeYee” to her latest hit, “Get It Sexyy.” The latter’s music video quickly went viral thanks to appearances from Drake, Adin Ross, and Soulja Boy among others. The 2000s iconography has us feeling seriously nostalgic, but besides dropping a visual, the mother of two has other ideas for promoting her song. Among them is a social media twerk battle with Yung Miami, which some think Sexyy championed.

For her part, the Hood Hottest Princess put on one hell of a show, flaunting her natural body in a white crop top and red booty shorts with “FREE MY BABY DADDY” written across the back. She showed off her splits, making her cheeks clap on the ground before effortlessly getting back up without missing a beat. When Miami responded she was also looking cute and casual at home, bending over to bounce her behind in unison with the beat to “Get It Sexyy.” Because she was nowhere near as theatrical as her competitor, viewers voted the Florida native as the loser but still applauded her for looking so good.

Though she looks good twerking, Yung Miami is still under public scrutiny for being named in Lil Rod’s troubling Diddy lawsuit. So far, the City Girl’s been denying any involvement in drug trafficking or being a sex worker for her former lover, but the internet isn’t totally convinced. Over the course of G-Eazy’s c areer, the Oakland, California MC has received a fair amount of criticism. Some of that comes from his “corny” writing or “bland” tracks. Most see him as a club banger artist, which is not a bad way to go about making music. He has differentiated his sound as well, but it seems the majority go for the high-octane cuts. So today, G-Eazy is back with a new offering in that space with “Femme Fatale.”

The song’s theme is about men and women both participating in the hedonistic lifestyle. Sex work is a big focus here too, and it is made apparent through the sample flip of the classic song from 20th Century Steel Band, “Heaven and Hell Is on Earth.” The lyrics, “Everyone’s got to make a livin’,” kicks “Femme Fatale” off, before bleeding into the verse from G-Eazy. “No prejudice (Nah), I’m a feminist (Yeah)… No judgement ’cause everybody has to make a little, uh.”

He raps from the male perspective, then the features, Coi Leray, and Kaliii, give their side of things. Sexyy Red was one of the biggest breakout stars in rap music last year. While her success featured crossovers with numerous high-profile collaborators including Drake, SZA, Chief Keef, and more, Nicki Minaj was one of the first to get in the door. The pair teamed up for a remix of Red’s song “Pound Town” early last year. The resulting “Pound Town 2” landed on the original version of Red’s debut album Hood Hottest Princess.

Now the two fire-spitting MCs could be teaming up for yet another crossover. Nicki recently took to Twitter to tease fans about yet another crossover. “You got your verse for #FTCU? Finna drop the remix @SexyyRed314_ Left #PoundTown to go #FTCU,” Nicki’s tweet reads. The tweet references her hit song “FTCU” which started as a deep cut from Pink Friday 2. The song has been on the Hot 100 for a full 4 months now. It peaked at number 15 back in December and currently sits at number 82 this week. The “Pound Town” performer took to social media recently to reveal that she was turned away from a high school in her hometown of St. Louis. According to her, she was planning to speak to some lucky students but wasn’t allowed in because she smelled like weed.

Yesterday (April 3), Sexyy Red was active on her Instagram Story, sharing fun clips of herself outside of the school. Sadly, the fun ended there, as she later ranted about being denied entry. “So look so this school I came up here, got cute. Tried to talk to the kids give em the word of the day… And they gonna put me off tell me I smell like weed,” she says in a clip. “B*tch you’re nobody, they ain’t come to see you Otis! B*tch, you heard who they’re screaming for.”

Rod Wave Released From Jail, Officials Confirm Gun Charges Weren’t “Accurate”

Earlier this week, Rod Wave was arrested at his home in Palmetto, FL on two counts of illegal possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Fortunately for the “Long Journey” performer, however, those charges are now confirmed to have been inaccurate. Yesterday, he was released from jail only hours after his arrest.

“He was arrested on a charge that was later determined not to be accurate, so he was released,” St. Petersburg PD spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez said yesterday. “This investigation is still open, it’s still ongoing and we are still looking to arrest more people and additional charges could be forthcoming.”

Rod Wave’s Lawyer Says Rapper Is Not A Convicted Felon

According to Rod Wave’s lawyer Mark Rankin, officials had nowhere near enough evidence to convict the rapper. Apparently, he’s also not a convicted felon. “The entire basis of that allegation was that the ammunition was on a kitchen counter or a table adjacent to a folder that had some papers with his name inside. That’s it,” he said of the incident. “That’s certainly not enough to charge somebody and certainly not enough to convict him… If you took two minutes to look at his record online, you would see that he’s not a convicted felon. And these are police officers that know how to check somebody’s criminal record.”

Rankin says that his client was convicted of a felony back in 2017 for carrying a concealed firearm. The charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor. He’s performed at Coachella before but this year he will be elevated to a headlining slot for the very first time. In advance of his performance, Tyler bought a Billboard in the valley where the festival is due to be held with a message for fans. “I would love to see y’all faces and not your phone lights” the Billboard reads. Tyler is hardly the first musician to ever speak out against fans using their phones at shows. It’s yet to be seen how much the Billboard will help more fans stay in the moment during his show.
