Lil Baby Shares Throwback Pictures From 6th Grade

Lil Baby always knew he was a king… in fact, in his sixth-grade pictures, he’s wearing a gold crown atop his head and giving the same smile he loves to flash at times.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, the self-proclaimed hero pressed the rewind button to show his fans that he’s always been the chosen one. Back in middle school, he was still winning all kinds of awards, rocking a special “Mr. 6th Grade” sash in his pictures to prove it. He posted a couple of throwbacks on Monday, looking back on his days at Brown Middle School. Before his three Grammy nominations, Lil Baby was none other than Mr. 6th Grade.

“I been piped y’all n***as wasn’t Mr 6th Grade,” he wrote as his caption. People have been gushing in the comments, pointing out that he has that same smile all these years later. His base is also noting how similar his son Loyal looks to his childhood pictures, stating that they have the same face.

When he’s not reminiscing on his middle school days, Lil Baby has been getting busy in the studio. He recently announced his latest collaboration with Joyner Lucas, which we can expect soon. He was also spotted with Kodak Black and 22Gz over the weekend.

Conway The Machine Teases Shady Records Debut: “The Illest Lyricism”

Conway The Machine is on a tear. Only a few weeks ago, the lyricist delivered La Maquina, a project that once again solidified his position as one of the modern greats. Today, the prolific Buffalo rapper took a moment to catch up with Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Rosenberg, touching on a variety of promising topics.

After confirming that he intends on heading on tour this September, enlisting Stove God Cooks as the opening act, Conway opened up about some of his future musical endeavors. Endeavors that happen to include his upcoming Shady Records debut God Don’t Make Mistakes, which is easily one of the year’s most anticipated releases. “I ain’t know I was working that hard,” laughs Conway, marveling at the fact he currently has twenty projects under his belt.

Laura Stylez inquires about “Scatter Brain,” and how he managed to put together the Don Cannon-produced, J.I.D & Ludacris-assisted banger. “I wanted something I can air out real fast,” he explains. “A lot of people are trying to marginalize me, put me in a box. I’m a rough and tough gangsta rapper or something like that. I’m not a tough guy man, I live a beautiful life. I love the ladies, the ladies love me. I’m on that type of time. But I wanted to get one of them types of joints — I wanna talk my sass, man.”

“I hit Luda out of nowhere,” he continues. “That Wendy Williams thing had happened, DJ I forget his name, some lame, was talking crazy on the Wendy Williams show about the boy. So Luda had my back through that, so I hit him like we gotta cook. So I sent him that. In the meantime, when I was waiting on his verse, I hit my bro J.I.D. He sent it back, it all worked out like that.”

He also confirms that he and 2 Chainz worked on a song for God Don’t Make Mistakes, though he’s uncertain if it will make the cut over sample clearance issues. “He sent me something for his album he’s working on,” teases Conway. “He a good dude. He a real one. He always showed me love, and I like our chemistry on the records we did together.”

When Ebro asks what can be expected on Conway’s upcoming Shady release, The Machine takes a moment to consider. “The illest lyricism, the most beautiful wordplay that’s ever been witnessed by humankind,” he laughs. “Ill shit man! Put it simply, I’m just rapping, man. I’m not on some humble time no more. We rapping or what, that’s my message to n***as…Put me in that classroom, with the rappers.”

Check out the full conversation with Ebro, Laura, and Rosenberg below, and sound off if you’re looking forward to God Don’t Make Mistakes.

Trevor Lawrence Scores Big Endorsement Deal With Crypto App

Trevor Lawrence is most likely going to be the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft which goes down on Thursday night. Lawrence was a standout quarterback who virtually everyone knew was going to be a massive star. The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a position to pick him and considering he is about to be number one, there is no denying that Lawrence is going to be set for life financially.

In fact, as a way to show his commitment to finance, Lawrence has signed a brand new endorsement deal with the likes of Blockfolio. Blockfolio is an app that tracks all of your cryptocurrency investments and allows you to manage your crypto portfolio. What makes this deal unique is the fact that his signing bonus was paid in crypto and has already turned a profit, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Cryptocurrency is in the midst of a massive bull market which is what’s making it so popular right now. With currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum gaining steam week in and week out, the crypto world has become an attractive place for young people to learn how to invest their money.

For instance, Chiefs tight end Sean Culkin announced this week that he would convert his entire salary into Bitcoin. Perhaps more players will be doing the same in the future.

Polo G Stays At #1 For Second Straight Week, Goes Gold With “RAPSTAR”

Arguably one of the most surprising #1 debuts of the entire year, Polo G has officially spent his second-straight week at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with his latest single “RAPSTAR.”  It was also revealed that in just two short weeks, the song has also been certified gold by the RIAA.

The new update was announced for the Billboard Hot 100 on Monday and it was revealed that Polo G is staying still at the pole position for another week. According to a press release, the Chicago native is the only male debut to spend two consecutive weeks at #1 on the chart this year. This feat also makes “RAPSTAR” the twenty-second song in history to log both its first and second weeks at the top of the tally. “RAPSTAR” is also officially certified gold by the RIAA, moving over 500,000 units.

The song has been ultra-popular, hitting over 38 million views on YouTube. It’s Polo’s biggest song to date, making all of his fans excited for what’s to come on his upcoming studio album Hall Of Fame.

Despite some changes further down in the top ten, the most popular songs in the country have remained mostly the same for the last week. Young Stoner Life, Young Thug, and Gunna debuted some Slime Language 2 records just outside of the top ten, ranking “Solid” at #12, “Ski” at #18, and “Diamonds Dancing” at #46. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

Stephen A. Smith Thinks KD & Kyrie Could Regret Not Joining Knicks

Stephen A. Smith is one of the biggest New York Knicks fans in all of sports media and when they aren’t playing very well, Smith can be seen in a depressed mood. However, when the team turns things around, he is perhaps at his absolute most jovial. Today, Smith was all smiles on the set of First Take as the Knicks are currently on a nine-game winning streak and are fourth in the Eastern Conference, right behind teams like the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks.

In fact, Smith came through with some hot takes today, especially pertaining to the likes of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Simply put, Smith believes that no matter what, the Knicks will always run New York and that if the Nets don’t win a championship this season, KD and Irving will have to live life with regrets.

“If the New York Knicks are in the playoffs, and the Brooklyn Nets don’t win the chip, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will regret the day they passed on becoming a New York Knick!” Smith said triumphantly.

Perhaps this is all a little bit premature, especially as no one knows for sure what the Knicks will do if and when they make the playoffs. While they might get a winnable first-round matchup, they will probably be subjected to a second-round exit, as the Nets or 76ers will be waiting for them.

Not to mention, as far as Irving and KD are concerned, they seem to be enjoying their new team, quite a bit.

Eminem Explains Why He Paid Over $500 For A Copy Of Nas’ ‘Illmatic’

How much would you spend for a copy of a hip-hop classic? For Eminem, the going rate is somewhere between $500 and $600, as he revealed during a discussion on the popular voice chat app, Clubhouse. While the burgeoning community on Clubhouse has been known for causing controversy in the past, this past weekend, fans of the Detroit rapper held a celebratory “Shady Con” in his honor, with guests including his manager Paul Rosenberg and DJ Whoo Kid. Em himself stopped by to share some stories as well, telling fans about the time he just had to spend a little extra on his hero Nas’ seminal debut Illmatic to feed his collection habit.

As Em explained, I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, everything from comic books to baseball cards to toys, as well as every rap album on cassette I could get my hands on. Not much has changed for me as an adult.” When he found an unsealed cassette copy of Nas’ game-changing classic, his mind was blown. “I think it’s backstock from what records stores had in the back storage,” he said. “The tapes that never sold and they just kept them. That’s the only thing I can think of. Cause nobody’s going to have a f*cking Illmatic tape and not open it.” He also good-naturedly compared the value of his own debut The Slim Shady LP — which was a culture shifter in the vein of Illmatic, for sure — under similar conditions, saying it’d draw a tidy sum of “twelve cents.”

For what it’s worth, it’s not the worst way to spend money — which Em has more than enough of. An unsealed copy of a classic album on a discontinued format is exactly the sort of ultra-rare find that has wannabe collectors including Eminem going NFT crazy these days — and it also sort of shows the difference between a physical piece of owned art and the idea of owning a certificate of a jpeg or whatever.

Listen to Eminem’s amusing anecdote above.

Wayne Jetski Kicks It On New Single “Karate”

Long Island’s own Wayne Jetski, a play on the legendary hockey icon Wayne “The Great One” Gretzky, has come through to share a new track “Karate.” Arriving complete with visuals that draw inspiration from Cobra Kai, the track finds Jetski embarking on a journey to master his martial prowess — and win a few hearts in the process.

One of the biggest weapons in his arsenal happens to be autotune, and he wastes little time in lining up an unrelenting combo throughout the melodic and vibey track. Though some might lament another case of heavily processed vocals over an 808-driven banger, Jetski brings enough personality to keep things moving. That personality is on full display in the accompanying video (directed by NYU Film School student Robert Enriquez), during which he engages in a spirited sparring session complete with elaborate choreography.

Check out “Karate” now, and sound off if you think Wayne Jetski has what it takes to sustain a presence on your playlist.

Kyle Kuzma Opens Up About Lakers Rotations And Playing Time

Kyle Kuzma has been a key player for the Los Angeles Lakers over these last few years, especially in 2020 as the team won its first NBA title in 10 years, While Kuzma is known as a solid scorer, there were times where he had to deal with less playing time as head coach Frank Vogel looked for the options that worked the best. Now, with LeBron James injured, Kuzma has been getting more time on the court and for the most part, he has been fitting into his role, nicely.

While speaking to reporters recently, Kuzma was asked about the Lakers rotations and how he feels about fluctuating playing time. Kuzma’s answer was both mature and honest as he noted that at the end of the day, his one true goal is to win a title with his teammates.

“We’re all competitors and we all want to be out on the court for 48 minutes,” Kuzma said. “That’s just how you are if you’re a competitor. If you don’t want to then I would never want a player on my team like that. So I think it’s all about sacrifice. That’s something I really learned about last year, I think something that I struggled with last year. I was hard on myself and down a little bit, but I had great teammates that stuck with me and I figured it out, so now is not the time to be harping on yourself. We’re trying to win championships right now. That’s the window that we’re in and it’s at all costs. If you don’t play then you don’t play.”

With LeBron coming back soon, the Lakers will be well within their window of winning that title and no matter what, Kuzma will end up being a big part of that push.
