The YSL Rico trial took a turn when Young Thug’s lead attorney, Brian Steel, was charged with contempt of court. As a result, Judge Ural Glanville ordered the attorney to spend the next ten weekends in Fulton County Jail. Steel opted to spend each of the 20 days alongside Young Thug in Cobb Country.

Steel was taken into custody after he did not answer a question about an alleged secret meeting between the judge, prosecutors, and key witness Kenneth Copeland.

According to WSB-TV Atlanta, Steel was provided five minutes to answer. Steel remained silent.

Steel will now have to report to jail this Friday by 7:00 p.m. and be released at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Young Thug Trial: Lil Woody Continues Trolling Prosecutors With His Testimony

After a relatively quiet few weeks as far as new developments in the Young Thug trial goes, it’s been a blitz of new revelations since last week. That started with the reveal that Lil Woody would be forced to testify or face jail time. Fans paying close attention to the trial were pretty surprised to find that last week he plead the fifth, refusing to testify and instead accepting jail time. But according to the THUGGERDAILY twitter account who has been closely following the case, that decision didn’t stick.

When the trial got started back up earlier today, Lil Woody had changed his course. He apparently informed that prosecution that he had decided to testify after all. But when he took the stand today it didn’t seem like they got the testimony out of him that they were hoping. Fans online described his behavior as trolling. He seemed to purposefully delay things as much as possible taking extended time to answer every question posed of him. He also interpreted instructions incredibly literally often requiring back and forth between him and the judges and lawyers in the courtroom. Check out a clip of some of his behavior below.

Lil Woody Trolls Young Thug Trial

Woody’s testimony was far from the only news in the Young Thug trial today. Thug’s lawyer Brian Steele made the dramatic gesture of accusing both the judge and prosecution of coercing witnesses in the trial. He even claimed he would go to jail to fight for his client’s innocence. Steele backed up his claims just a few hours ago. He was taken into custody for contempt of court, though the seriousness of the charges is yet to be determined.

What do you think of LIl Woody refusing to take his testimony seriously despite potentially facing jail time? Do you think his antics help or hurt Young Thug’s chances at beating the charges against him in the long run? let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug Trial: Lil Woody Takes Jail Time Over Testifying

Earlier today, the Young Thug trial erupted in a series of chaotic allegations. As reported by Twitter account Thugger Daily who is closely following the case, it began with the testimony of Lil Woody. Woody took the stand as a witness, but chose to plead the fifth and not answer any questions. That decision is extra surprising considering he will now face jail time for his refusal. But that was only the beginning of the drama that his lack of testimony caused in court today.

Thug’s lawyer Brian Steele used the opportunity to again ask for a mistrial, something he’s done several times. In this instance he claims that the prosecution knew that Lil Woody would plead the fifth and shouldn’t have let him do so in front of the jury. That was followed by a bizarre sequence where Woody posted multiple messages to his Instagram story only to quickly delete them. Following the trial lunch break the prosecution accused the defense of witness tampering alleging that their lawyers were in communication with Woody’s. Despite the defense summoning multiple witnesses testifying that Woody had made obvious statements clarifying that he wouldn’t be testifying, the judge threw out the mistrial motion. Check out the chaotic series of events that’s gone down so far today below.

Last month, Gunna made yet another call for Young Thug’s release. He hasn’t commented frequently on the trial. But it does seem clear that he’s still in support of his fellow YSL members. It’s been over a year since he exited the trial, a move that proved controversial with rap fans. Many claimed his decision to testify and identify YSL as a gang was a mistake. They think it could cost many of the others still on trial.

What do you think of today’s events in the Young Thug trial following Lil Woody’s refusal to testify and instead take jail time? Do you think the judge was acting fairly when he refused to listen to witnesses claiming Woody made it clear he wouldn’t testify? Let us know in the comment section below.

WATCH: Courtroom Erupts into Laughter After State’s Witness in YSL RICO Trial Calls Young Thug’s “Lifestyle” a ‘Banger’

Young Thug 100 acres

The YSL RICO trial is chugging along. On Thursday, a state witness made the court laugh after saying Young Thug’s “Lifestyle” is a banger.

The witness stated he knew Young Thug but did not know him personally. His familiarity came from the single “Lifestyle,” which was everywhere at the time, calling it a “banger.” Drawing a question of “and you liked it,” leading to a comedic objection.

You can see the moment below.

Jeffery Williams, known as Young Thug, was arrested on May 9, 2022, along with 27 others in Buckhead as part of a 56-count indictment. Two years later, he remains on trial in an Atlanta courtroom. The trial has set records for the longest jury selection process in Georgia history, surpassing the 2014-15 Atlanta Public Schools trial. It is also likely to include a state record for the length of witness testimony.

The trial, which has faced numerous disruptions, began on Nov. 27, 2023 with an opening statement from Fulton County Assistant Chief District Attorney Adriane Love. Defense attorneys have expressed concerns that the trial could extend for years due to the extensive witness list.

Delays from the start have marred the ongoing “Young Slime Life” gang trial, and yet again Wednesday, due to technical difficulties. State witness Detective Jason Teague was testifying about a fatal shooting in 2015 when Judge Ural Glanville asked for a 15-minute break. Get this: the internet went out. “It appears our internet is still out or down countywide, at least on this side of the building,” Glanville told attorneys and defendants before dismissing the jury. “These kind of things happen, it’s nobody’s fault.”

Prosecutors allege that YSL (Young Slime Life) is a criminal street gang involved in various offenses, while the defense contends that YSL is merely a record label, Young Stoner Life. Young Thug faces eight criminal counts under Georgia’s RICO law, which targets organized crime. Additionally, he is charged with possession of marijuana and codeine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm, and possession of a machine gun.

Defense attorneys argue that Young Thug is not the gang leader prosecutors claim he is. So far, 18 jurors have been selected, including six alternates. Two jurors have been excused: one due to a medical emergency and another due to relocation from Fulton County.

Young Thug Trial: Court Erupts In Laughter After State’s Witness Calls “Lifestyle” A “Banger”

Overall, the Young Thug trial has proven to be one of the biggest stories in hip-hop over the past year or so. However, the trial has proven to be incredibly complicated. In fact, some would say that the judge, prosecution, and defense have all contributed to the mess that has unfolded. There have been numerous viral clips to come out of this trial, and none of them have been particularly flattering. Fans are worried about how long this could go on for, and some analysts think it could even go until 2027.

Having said that, there have been some moments of hilarity during the trial. Mostly, this occurs whenever Thugger’s music gets mentioned. As it turns out, even the State’s witnesses can’t help but admit just how extensive Young Thug’s discography is. In the clip below, you can see the latest witness claim that the song “Lifestyle” is a banger. This leads to an objection in court and when it gets overruled, the whole court shares a quick laugh.

Young Thug Trial Continues

Thug’s music has been used quite a bit in this trial. Overall, there has been an ongoing debate about rap lyrics and whether or not they should be used in criminal trials. After all, lyrics are supposed to fall under freedom of expression. If an artist were to be prosecuted off of lyrics alone, it could have massive implications on hip-hop and other genres. This is a story we will continue to follow, regardless of how long this trial may go on for.

Let us know what you think of the way the Young Thug trial has gone down, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this has been too drawn out and complicated? How do you believe this trial is going to conclude? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Young Thug’s YSL RICO Trial Keeps Pace in Atlanta Despite Disruptions

Young Thug’s trial resumed Thursday at 10 a.m. and will continue Friday at 1 p.m., marking over six months since witness testimony began on Memorial Day.

Mother of Murder Victim Testifies in YSL Rico Trial

Mother of Murder Victim Testifies in YSL Rico Trial

The YSL RICO trial is still going, and this week, the mother of Donovan Thomas Jr., who was shot to death in a 2015 alleged gang-related incident, took the stand in Young Thug’s trial on Monday. This was the only day of witness testimony scheduled for the week as the trial approaches its six-month mark. The trial, which began on November 27, 2023, will hit the six-month mark on Monday, May 27, recognized as Memorial Day. It is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, May 28.

Donovan Thomas Jr., then 26, was murdered in Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill neighborhood. Two other victims were also shot. Shannon Stillwell and Deamonte Kendrick, two of the remaining defendants in Young Thug’s trial, were charged in connection with the shooting.

Thomas’ mother, Shawonna Edmond, testified emotionally about how she learned of her son’s death and the days that followed. Once can’t imagine what she experienced on that day. When prosecutors asked, “Did you lay your son to rest?” she replied, “Yes, yes we did.” Asked when the burial occurred, Edmond tearfully responded, “It was January 17, 2015.”

Prosecutors also called several other witnesses, including an Atlanta police officer. The trial has seen numerous delays, including an incident late last year when Stillwell was stabbed in custody at the Fulton County Jail.

Prosecutors aim to prove that YSL, or Young Slime Life, is a criminal street gang responsible for numerous offenses. Defense attorneys contend that YSL is merely the name of a record label, Young Stoner Life. Jeffery Williams, professionally known as Young Thug, was indicted on May 9, 2022. He is on trial in Fulton County in a significant RICO case involving himself and five other defendants. The trial opened with a statement from Fulton County Assistant Chief District Attorney Adriane Love on November 27, 2023.

Young Thug faces eight criminal counts under a federal law designed to combat organized crime. Georgia, one of 33 states with its own RICO law, allows for the prosecution of criminal enterprises that do not need to exist as long as those under the federal statute.

Defense attorneys have expressed concerns that the trial could extend for years due to the extensive witness list the prosecution intends to call. They argue that Williams is not the leader of an alleged gang as claimed by prosecutors.

Eighteen jurors have been selected, including six alternates. Two jurors have already been excused: one for a medical emergency and the other due to relocating out of Fulton County.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville has expressed frustration with the trial’s slow pace, urging both defense attorneys and prosecutors to be better prepared. He has indicated a willingness to hold court on weekends if necessary, stating, “I have spoken with our sheriff and, consistent with the court, if need be we’ll start having court on Saturday and Sunday.”

In addition to the RICO charges, Williams faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of codeine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm, and possession of a machine gun. Prosecutors have indicated they plan to call approximately 150 more witnesses.

Rich Homie Quan Subpoenaed By State To Testify In Young Thug/YSL RICO Trial

Several reports have confirmed that Atlanta rap mainstay Rich Homie Quan has been called to testify in the YSL RICO trial after being subpoenaed by the state.

X user ThuggerDaily, who previously claimed that Quan has previously given a police statement that will be read in court, reported that Quan, whose real name is Dequantes Lamar, will be taking the stand for the prosecution.

Lil Wayne may also be called to testify in the trial after prosecutors tried to play videos of Weezy speaking about Young Thug in court. Judge Ural Glanville refused to allow it unless Wayne testified in person.

The issue stems from the 2015 shooting of Wayne’s tour bus which the prosecution claim Thug was behind. The State claim he hired affiliate PeeWee Roscoe to carry it out. Roscoe was eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation over the matter, but his conviction was overturned in 2018.

Young Thug & His Lawyer Fist Bump In Court And Fans Want The Image To Be An Album Cover

Young Thug is currently going through a massive legal battle that could have huge implications for hip-hop as a genre. Overall, Thugger is battling RICO charges in the state of Georgia. Throughout the trial, the State has tried to use lyrics and music video imagery as part of the case. Furthermore, the proceedings themselves have been a huge mess. There has been very little consistency as it pertains to how much progress is made in court on a daily basis. Some believe the trial could extend into 2027, which feels absurd, and quite frankly inhumane.

Despite all of this, Young Thug has managed to maintain a positive outlook in court. Whenever he is in the courtroom, he keeps a smile on his face. Although there are times when he is more stoic, it is simply to keep his family even-keeled as the whole case has been an emotional rollercoaster. On Monday, Thugger was back in court, and he seemed to be in good spirits, again. In the photo below, you can see that he even gave his lawyer a nice fist bump prior to the proceedings.

Young Thug Was Smiling Ear To Ear After Quavo Visited Him In Court

Young Thug has been going through an incredibly tough time due to the YSL Rico Trial. Overall, this has been a strenuous trial that is not going as planned. Although the state believes it has a solid case, it could take years to fully present. In fact, there are some analysts who believe that this trial could go all the way until 2027. That would be extremely unfortunate, and would take up a whole lot of time. However, that seems to be the progression of things right now, and fans will just have to sit tight as this plays out.

So far, Thugger hasn’t gotten a ton of visitors in court. While his family has shown up from time to time, his artist friends have been fairly quiet. Thankfully, that trend officially came to an end on Wednesday as Quavo was in court for the trial. Quavo and Young Thug have made a ton of tracks together in the past, so it only makes sense that he would show up for his friend in need. In fact, Young Thug seemed pretty moved by the gesture, as he was all smiles once he saw the former Migo.
