Young Thug’s Defense Plays Old Rich Gang Song In Court For Cross Examination

The high-profile nature of Young Thug’s trial has created some fascinating moments when court proceedings cross paths with his public history. That was the case earlier today when Thug’s defense played a video of one of his fan-favorite songs. The track in question was hit 2014 Rich Gang single “Lifestyle” which everyone in the courtroom watches in mostly still silence.

The video is part of cross-examination of Tick, one of the co-founders of YSL. His testimony across the past few days has sparked a number of viral moments as he makes significant revelations about the label and alleged gang. Despite that, Thug’s lawyers have had a complicated strategy for cross-examination. They’ve asked him about numerous celebrities like LeBron James, Serena Williams, and even Lil Wayne referencing things like tattoos and handshakes. It seems like an attempt to muddy the waters over some of his more specific claims of gang affiliations in his original examination by the prosecution. Before cross-examination on Tick could conclude though, the trial was delayed. Proceedings will start back up on January 22.

Young Thug Trial Done Till Later This Month

Before releasing everyone from court today, the judge made one more request of both the jury and the legal teams. That was for everyone to get the appropriate flu shots and vaccinations they need to prevent illness from causing further delays in the trial. Sickness has been an issue multiple times already in the case with one jurors health problems even resulting in them being replaced early on in the trial.

Yesterday, one of the most surprising developments to date happened in the trial. Someone calling for Young Thug to be freed somehow hacked into the courtroom’s Zoom meeting. He essentially interrupted the trial in the middle of the proceedings. What do you think of “Lifestyle” being played in court today during cross-examination of Tick? Has your opinion changed on whether or not Young Thug will beat the charges brought against him? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug’s Juice WRLD Tribute Jacket Called Out By DA In Court

With the new year came the renewed YSL RICO case which meant Young Thug was back in the news cycle. The rapper has been behind bars since May of 2022 and the trial itself has already been going on for months. When it got back underway last week some fans were focused on Thug himself. Not only did he find the chance to do some promo for his new fashion line but some fans think he’s also put on some weight as the trial goes on. JID also got some of his own observations in about the case. He took to Twitter to critique the prosecution for their sloppiness and lack of preparation.

Now, the hottest story in the case has had to do with one of the co-founders of YSL, Slug, testifying. It started when he identified numerous members of the gang in open court. Though fans online called it snitching not everyone thought so. Others think he was deliberately only giving up those who could be found out anyway. As the debate over that testimony raged online he was adding some fuel to an entirely different fire from earlier in the day. Check out his newest testimony below.

Slug Discusses Young Thug’s Jacket

Earlier in the day, the district attorney had called out Young Thug for the “SP5DER” jacket that he wore to court today. During Slug’s testimony, he was asked about the jacket and clarified on the details he knows about it. He told the prosecution that it’s a tribute to Juice WRLD, who passed away in 2019. Young Thug and Juice WRLD

Thug and Juice worked together multiple times on record. Most notably Juice WRLD appears on the song “Mannequin Challenge” from Thug’s 2019 album So Much Fun. A single the pair released together called “Bad Boy” featured lyrics that were used against Thugger as evidence in court. What do you think of Young Thug being called out for wearing a jacket tributing Juice WRLD? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug’s Brother Shares A Message To Him From Behind Bars

Last week just as 2023 turned to 2024 Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial got back underway. He first emerged back in court on January 2 and the official trial proceedings got underway shortly after. The first day back in the trial had fans asking questions about the prosecution. One of those was JID, who took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the lack of preparedness and sloppy arguments from the state.

Now, Young Thug’s own brother has taken to social media with a message to him. That came through his Instagram story where he shared a photo of the rapper in court. “I promise god hear us, I wish I can call u and tell u I understand now,” the caption attached to the picture reads. The post got a lot of responses from fans discussing the plea deal that Thug’s brother took earlier in the YSL court proceedings. Check out his story post and fan reactions to it below.

Young Thug’s Brother Speaks As YSL Trial Starts Back Up

As far as the trial itself goes, one of the more notable figures testified in court today. That was Slug, who took the opportunity to name multiple alleged members of the YSL gang. While some reacted to his confession as snitching, others think it might be more calculated. “He giving them information they know it’ll eventually can figure out on they own. Y’all slow asf,” one comment reacting to his testimony reads.

Others in the comment section agree. “99 percent of the people calling him a rat here have prolly never been involved in the streets lmao,” and “He ain’t say no real names he know what he doin lol” two other comments read. He’s one of many known figures in the YSL orbit that have ended up testifying as a result of the court proceedings. What do you think of Young Thug’s brother sharing a message for him publicly? Are you following the newest developments every day in the YSL RICO trial? Let us know in the comment section below.

Trontavious Stephens’ YSL Testimony Leaves Us Laughing As He Evades Snitching Questions

We knew there would be some serious antics unfolding in court throughout the YSL RICO trial, but we couldn’t possibily have predicted this much of a fiasco. Over a year and a half after Young Thug was first arrested in Atlanta, he remains behind bars, with court proceedings only kicking off in the final weeks of 2023. Unfortuntaely, the stabbing of a co-defendant put a brief pause of things ahead of the holiday season, but as the new year began, so too did Thugger’s fight for his freedom.

The latest updates from Fulton County confirm that the label’s co-founder, Trontavious Stephens, is among the latest to give his testimony after previously accepting a plea deal. On Wednesday (January 3), he spoke about YSL being an organization that’s about “the music,” not commiting crimes. As Fox 5 Atlanta notes, part of Stephens’ agreement with the prosecution is that he’s required to testify “truthfully and without invoking his Fifth Amendment right.” While he did admit to gang involvement dating back as early as his teenage years, the witness did everything in his power to evade questions about snitching.

Young Thug’s Former Co-Defandant Gives His Testimony as YSL Trial Resumes

“What does snitching mean to you?” a female voice asks Stephens in the video above. “It doesn’t mean anything to me,” he responds after taking a moment to carefully consider his words. “But I’m aware of the term,” he acknowledges, speaking the truth, as promised. “What is the meaning of the term?” prosecutors further press him, to which Trontavious simply shakes his head. “The definition?” she continues. “It doesn’t mean anything to me but I’m aware of the term,” the YSL leader reiterates.

Even though he’s approaching two years of being behind bars on his YSL RICO charges, Young Thug remains optimistic about the future. Now that he’s back in court, the So Much Fun hitmaker’s social media pages are lighting up with teasers of his latest creative project – a clothing brand. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Young Thug Suicide Vest Theory Disproved After Rapper’s Court Appearance

Young Thug and YSL’s RICO trial is back underway following a break after someone stabbed a codefendant. Moreover, folks are buzzing around the rumor mill right now based on his appearance during a recent hearing that elicited concern from many online. For those unaware, Thugger appeared to wear a wire of sorts during the court session on Tuesday (January 2), which many assumed could be an electrical shock device or a suicide vest. This caused many to call his mental health to attention, although it seems like fans expressed worry over something relatively harmless. Furthermore, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution‘s Jozesef Papp took to Twitter the following day (Wednesday, January 3) to clarify the situation.

“Confirmed that Young Thug was wearing a heating pad under his sweater,” Papp tweeted. “The courtroom doesn’t feel that cold today but I wonder if it was yesterday. #YSL.” In fact, it’s actually a bit ironic that people started to make a fuss over what he wore to his trial proceedings. For example, the Atlanta trap pioneer recently plugged an in-progress apparel brand on social media while still behind bars. As such, we wonder what other moves he’s making outside of his legal trouble, and whether he’ll rep a piece or two in court.

Young Thug Wore A Heating Device To Court, Reporter Confirms

Elsewhere, other rap figures like Ralo are chiming in on this YSL trial. “Young Thug [trial] weak as f**k,” he expressed on social media. “I can’t even believe they giving Jeff ah hard time like that for them weak a** charges. They might [as] well just let him go. I feel like they just trying blame him for s**t n***as around him was doing. That s**t l*me!!! Man ain’t no way Shawty just got on that stand against his childhood friend. I rather die ah thousand deaths before I do some s**t like that.”

Meanwhile, another rapper to give his take– and a fellow Atlanta native– was JID, who expressed frustration with the prosecution’s poorly organized case. Of course, he wants to see Jeffery as free as anyone else, but everything has to be fair. So far, we can’t confidently say that the YSL trial has been that so far, something that the prosecution hopefully fixes moving forward. JID Shares His Newest Take On Young Thug’s YSL RICO Trial

JID has had a busy day on Twitter so far. He started the day discussing his newest freestyle with fans. He dropped the “30” freestyle on YouTube yesterday and his performance was immediately met with rave reviews. The rapper explained the process he went through of writing and recording dozens of freestyle for practice. Eventually he had to circle back around and confirm that most of them aren’t likely to ever see the light of day as they were just for his own benefit.

He also made an even more substantial revelation to fans. He once again promised that a collaborative album between himself and Metro Boomin was on the way. JID claims that he’s working on the project “everyday” which is sure to get fans hyped. Unfortunately, he isn’t ready to give an update on when the album might actually be released. It’s been nearly a year since the pair originally announced they has a joint effort in mind. Check out his newest thoughts posted to Twitter below.

JID Talks YSL RICO Trial

“The prosecution for this thug case is sloppy and ill-prepared. lol,” JID say in a recent tweet. Like many fans he’s been paying attention to one of the biggest trials in all of rap music since it got started again earlier this week. The lack of preparedness from lawyers on both sides has been an issue dating back to pre-trial proceedings. Opening statements were delayed after it was revealed that the prosecution failed to share all of their material with the defense ahead of the start date.

Many have gone online to share their predictions for how the case will ultimately end up. Momentum has swung back and forth in terms of public perception multiple times during the trial so far. Earlier today one of the co-founders of YSL took to the stand after cutting a plea deal to avoid the trial more than a year ago. What do you think of JID’s newest take on the YSL RICO trial? Do you think the prosecution will be able to pin any charges on Young Thug? Let us know in the comment section below.

YSL Founder Trontavious Stephens Takes The Stand In RICO Trial

After a blitz of new information emerged at the start of Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial last year, information has slowed in recent weeks. Opening statements in the case began in late November and saw the prosecution using a variety of different types of evidence to attempt to prove that YSL was a functioning gang in addition to a record label. In response, the prosecution did their best to pick apart evidence like transcripts from calls and song lyrics and reveal their original meanings, different from what the prosecution suggested.

A few weeks later though, the shocking news hit that one of Thugs’ co-defendants in the trial was stabbed. The jury was recessed a few days in advance of when they were originally scheduled to take a break for the holidays and the case returned earlier this week. In the meantime, Thug’s legal team came through on a promise they made early in December. During the time off from the trial, they filed a motion to dismiss the case. The motion was heard as part of the proceedings that began earlier this week.

YSL Co-Founder On The Stand

But it seems like the flood of news from the YSL trial is about to start all over again. That started today when one of the co-founders of YSL Trontavious Stephens took the stand. More than a year ago Stephens took a plea deal to escape heading to trial in the major RICO case. But as part of his agreement he had to take the stand and testify, which got underway earlier today.

In the comments of a post about him taking the stand, fans react. “oh na he definitely telling, he look old asl .. he ain’t got nothing to lose,” one of the top comments reads. “he looked like he signed the YSL declaration of independence,” another comment jokes. News on exactly what Stephens discussed while on the stand hasn’t been reported yet. What do you think of the co-founder of YSL taking the stand in the RICO case against Young Thug? Let us know in the comment section below.

YFN Lucci Will Be Able To Get A Haircut And New Clothes Before His Trial Begins

The start of YFN Lucci’s murder trial is approaching and he just got some good news in the lead-up. In a few weeks, it will have been three full years since Lucci was originally arrested and charged with murder. The story broke on January 14, 2021 and Lucci has been in custody ever since. Though he looks pretty different now than he did at the time, that will change before his trial gets underway.

As TMZ reports, Lucci has been granted access to some essentials that will help him look his best in time for trial. That starts with a professional haircut and shave likely in an attempt to reach as presentable a look as possible. It will be accompanied by some new clothes as he was also approved for a visit with a tailor. Lucci is clearly taking things seriously when it comes to looking his best for the upcoming trial. The case has major implications for him and crossover with the currently ongoing YSL trial where Young Thug remains a defendant.

YFN Lucci Granted Pre-Trial Clean-Up

News involving YFN Lucci’s trial has moved very slowly in the past few months. Most of the developments have come as a result of the YSL RICO case. Lyrics from Thug’s song “Bad Boy” were introduced in court with the prosecution claiming that they were in reference to violent acts involving Lucci. Thug’s defense had to do their best to recontextualize the connection between him and Lucci.

As part of their defense, Young Thug’s legal team claimed that Lucci attached himself to Thugger for clout. They proposed that the connection doesn’t go any deeper than an attempt on Lucci’s part to forward his rap career. It’s one of many clarifications they’ve had to make about lyrics from various Thug songs in the trial. What do you think of the judge in YFN Lucci’s case allowing him access to professional grooming and a tailor in advance of his trial? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug Attorneys Open “Motion To Dismiss” Appeal After YSL RICO Trial Pause

When Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial began to make some headway, the Atlanta native likely felt some serious relief. Of course, he’s well aware that the legal process is slow-moving. Still, having recent delays put a halt on things isn’t easy for the multi-talent’s mental health. Thankfully, he has a stellar legal team working to make sure that freedom remains possible for their client. Earlier in December, attorney Brian Steel promised that an appeal would be filed on Thug’s behalf for a motion to dismiss his case. Today (December 18), it looks like he made good on his word.

“[Steel] is trying to expedite the appeal so it will be heard at the same time as the trial,” @ThuggerDaily on Twitter reported on the first of the month. “If the judge’s decision is overturned, the case would end,” they further explained. Now that the case appeal is open, the So Much Fun hitmaker and his attorneys are waiting to find out if the appropriate court is willing to hear their story.

Brian Steel’s Fight for Young Thug’s Freedom Continues

YSL RICO proceedings are now on hold until the new year after a co-defendant was stabbed in jail. “Remember yesterday we recessed because one of our participants had a medical issue and I was telling you about that? Well, unfortunately, that medical condition still exists. Given the length of time that we will probably address that, it might be just more prudent to recess you. An early recess. Instead of recessing you this Friday, I’m gonna recess you for the holidays, today,” Judge Glanville told the jury.

Elsewhere in the world of crime and hip-hop, YNW Melly prosecutors are currently attempting to use his song lyrics against him in their long-spanning double-murder case. After a mistrial was declared this past summer, the Florida native is due to return to court in Broward County come February 2024. Young Thug’s Brother Falsely Identified By Witness In YSL RICO Trial

After exhaustive pre-trial processes and jury selection, the Young Thug YSL RICO trial finally got underway late last month. In the wake of the trial’s start revelations were coming at a rapid-fire pace. But the trial has had as many bizarre moments as its had dramatic reveals. The most recent strange development came late in the afternoon yesterday when a witness was asked by the prosecution to identify Quantavious Grier, better known as Thug’s brother.

The witness doesn’t exactly nail it, giving a somewhat muddled answer while looking around the courtroom. “Well, he was sittin’ over there, but I don’t know where he’s sittin’ at now,” he said before making an ultimately inaccurate guess at where Grier was. The person he was pointing at turned out to actually be one of the attorneys in the courtroom. The strange moment is punctuated by the fact that it would have been impossible for the witness to identify Grier in the first place. Earlier this year he was sentenced to 10 years in prison as part of a felony murder case. Check out the awkward unfolding of events in court.

Witness Mis-Identifies Young Thug’s Brother

The high-profile trial has been a bit of a roller coaster since the very start. The opening day proceedings were delayed when the jury had to be briefly dismissed. That happened because it came to light that the prosecution had failed to share the entirety of their opening statement with the defense before the trial got underway. That came after some heated exchanges with lawyers on both sides with the judge in the case. He’s repeatedly expressed his frustration with how legal process matters are being handled in the case.

Once the trial actually got underway it didn’t necessarily sort things out. One of the jurors from the case has already had to be dismissed due to injury when they fell ill over the weekend. What do you think of the strange moment in court where a witness identifies an attorney as Young Thug’s brother? Let us know in the comment section below.
