Gunna Subtly Calls For Young Thug’s Release Amid RICO Trial

Amid Young Thug’s highly publicized YSL RICO trial, social media users have seen him receive a great deal of support from both fans and peers. He’s been behind bars for over two years now, facing accusations that his label Young Stoner Life is actually a “violent street gang.” It’s rumored that the trial could continue well into 2027, despite his team’s attempts to speed it up last year. He was arrested in May of 2022 alongside several other alleged YSL members, including Gunna.

Gunna was released in December of the same year after accepting a plea deal, which sparked speculation that he turned his back on his co-defendants in exchange for his own freedom. He denies this, though critics continue to have their suspicions. Regardless, he frequently shows love to Young Thug at his shows and online, prompting mixed reactions from followers.

Gunna Posts Photo Of Child Wearing A “Free Thugga” T-Shirt

Today, for example, he took to Instagram to share a new photo dump with fans. It features various shots from his “Bittersweet” tour, workout videos, and more. He also included a photo of a small child rocking a t-shirt reading “Free Thugga.” Clearly, Gunna still has a lot of love for his former collaborator, despite whatever critics may have to say about it. After all, during an interview with XXL last month, he claimed that their friendship hasn’t changed amid the rampant “snitching” rumors.

“It’s the same,” he said of his close bond with Young Thug. “It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship… I definitely feel like everybody’s been misled.” What do you think of Gunna showing love to Young Thug on Instagram despite snitching rumors? Today In Hip Hop History: Young Thug, Gunna And 26 Other YSL Members Arrested On RICO Charges Two Years Ago

young thug gunna arrest

On this date in 2022, Young Thug, his former partner Gunna and 26 of their YSL associates were arrested in Fulton County, Georgia and charged in a 56-count Georgia RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act.

Filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, the RICO charges against Thug, whose real name is =Jefferey Williams, were confirmed following a search of his home and he was charged with seven additional felonies related to possession of illegal substances and illegal firearms. He was denied bond several times and has remained in the Cobb County Jail since his arrest.

On November 27, 2023, Thug’s state RICO criminal trial officially began. Five of his co-defendants are currently going trial with him as well. On December 12, 2023, it was agreed that the continuation of the trial would be delayed until January 2024 after his co-defendant Shannon Stillwell was stabbed multiple times during a fight that occurred in the Fulton County Jail. The trial resumed on January 2, 2024.

The YSL RICO trial is being recognized as the longest trial in Georgia state history.

Young Thug Dances To “Halftime” In Court, Makes His Lawyer Laugh: Watch

It’s no secret that Young Thug has a solid relationship with his lawyer, Brian Steel. The criminal defense attorney has been representing the rapper throughout his ongoing YSL RICO trial, which is on track to becoming the longest in Georgia’s state history. Late last month, the two of them were photographed mid-fist bump, an image that many have since called fit for an album cover.

Today was day 73, and saw the state present the music video for Young Thug’s 2015 Barter 6 track, “Halftime.” They played the video in the courtroom, and evidently, Thug just couldn’t help but dance. In a new clip making its rounds online, the performer is seen vibing to the track, garnering the attention of Steel who looks on and laughs.

Day 73 Of Young Thug’s YSL RICO Trial

Of course, seeing the two of them in good spirits has fans feeling somewhat relieved, though the stakes in the case remain high. Young Thug could face a hefty prison sentence if the trial doesn’t go the way he hopes. He’s appeared confident, albeit worn down in recent court appearances, indicating that the trial’s taken its toll on him. The state’s lengthy list of witnesses would likely leave anyone jaded, and Thugger’s been behind bars for two years already.

Last month, the state paired down its list of witnesses, removing several including Lil Wayne. Earlier this month, however, prosecutors attempted to introduce clips of an alleged argument between Lil Wayne and Young Thug before a 2015 shooting involving his tour bus as evidence. Judge Ural Glanville denied the attempt, insisting that it can’t be used unless Lil Wayne testifies. BirdmanRich Homie Quan, and YFN Lucci could also potentially be called as witnesses. What do you think of Young Thug and his lawyer vibing to his song in court? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

DJ Akademiks Flabbergasted By Being Mentioned During Young Thug YSL Trial

Young Thug has been sorely missed by the entire rap community ever since he was arrested back in May 2022. He was brought in on a 56-count indictment that allegedly saw him head an Atlanta street gang that committed multiple serious crimes. Fans and peers alike are constantly wondering when he will be free, or what his fate will ultimately be. It seems we are far away from any decision as of now. Yak Gotti’s attorney filed a motion recently to shorten the prosecution’s witness list. Currently, the list is at a reported 400. One of those 400 could be DJ Akademiks, as his name was dropped in a recent YSL RICO trial.

There is no confirmation if he is even a suspected witness. But with names like LeBron James and Serena Williams being tossed around, DJ Akademiks has a good chance of being called in. The social media pundit has talked about this lengthy case extensively, so it was not too much of shocker to hear his name talked about. However, Akademiks was sure as hell confused as to why he was mentioned.

DJ Akademiks Gets Called A He/She At YSL RICO Trial

In fact, he clipped the portion of the livestream of the highly publicized trial where he was discussed. Wat dey talmbout in dis YSL trial mayne,” AK tweeted. At one point the judge questioned if “he or she” is coming to testify and according to the clip, he is not. Fans in the comments were having a field day with that. The judge also asked how the videos of DJ’s commentary on Thug would be brought up. However, the clip ended just before that explanation.

What are your thoughts on DJ Akademiks being name dropped in the YSL RICO Case? Do you think he will be called to speak at a court trial, why or why not? What do you see happening to Young Thug when this is all set and done? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Chance The Rapper Demands Justice For Young Thug, Slams “Circus” Trial

It’s no secret that Young Thug has been put through the wringer throughout his highly-publicized YSL RICO trial. According to Chance The Rapper, however, it’s time that they wrap it up. Earlier this week, the Chicago-born MC took to social media to share a post in honor of his own birthday. He opted to dedicate it to his friend behind bars. Chance made note of the seemingly never-ending antics of the ongoing trial, and expressed wishes for Young Thug to be allowed to go home to his family.

“For my birthday I just wish my brother was home with his family,” he wrote. “This circus of a trial has had him in custody for over a year and with all the legal errors, jury misconduct and conflicts of interest by the state he deserves to at the very least fight this from home.”

Chance The Rapper Dedicates His Birthday To Young Thug

Chance’s post also includes an old clip of him and Young Thug talking at what seems to be a festival, along with text reading, “Top 2 DOA [shrug emoji].” Sadly, it doesn’t appear as though the YSL co-founder will be sent home any time soon. Last month, it was even reported that due to prosecutors’ lengthy list of witnesses, it could continue well into 2027. Fortunately, the judge decided to shorten the list and remove various potential witnesses, including Lil Wayne.

Either way, Young Thug has seemed jaded during his latest court appearances, with a clip of the Atlanta native looking visibly irritated making its rounds online earlier this week. What do you think of Chance The Rapper’s recent post in support of Young Thug? Do you agree that the rapper should be allowed to finally go home to his family? Young Thug Looks Annoyed In Court On 61st Day Of RICO Trial: Watch

Young Thug’s ongoing YSL RICO trial reached its 61st day today, and it’s safe to say that everyone involved has had enough. The lengthy trial is already on track to becoming the longest in Georgia’s state history and doesn’t show any signs of reaching a conclusion any time soon. During his latest court appearance, Young Thug made his frustration clear, locking eyes with a courtroom camera with annoyance written all over his face.

Of course, the stakes are pretty high here, as Thugger could be looking at a hefty prison sentence if the trial doesn’t go as he hopes. Regardless, anyone is likely to become jaded as the extensive list of witnesses takes the stand. Countless social media users are weighing in on his courtroom eye-roll, noting how tired he looks and calling for his freedom.

Young Thug Has Had Enough

Unfortunately, it’s possible that the trial could just be getting started. Last month, one of Yak Gotti’s attorneys filed a motion asking to shave down the prosecution’s list of over 400 witnesses. According to them, the list could push the trial all the way into mid-2027. The judge responded by removing several people from the witness list, Lil Wayne included.

This is far from the only courtroom clip of Young Thug to have made its rounds online as of late, however. Last week, a clip of him wearing earbuds and bobbing his head to some music went viral. Fans couldn’t help but share their guesses of what he was listening to. Most agreed that it was probably Future and Metro Boomin’s new album, We Still Don’t Trust You, though this hasn’t been confirmed. Hopefully, the trial will come to a close sooner rather than later, for the sake of the rapper and everyone else involved. What do you think of Young Thug looking visibly annoyed during his latest court appearance? Can you blame him? Young Thug Trial: YSL Affiliate Questioned About Wearing A Wire After Plea Deal

The latest development in the Young Thug trial, also involving the rest of YSL on RICO charges, concerns one of the collective’s alleged co-founders, Walter “DK” Murphy. Moreover, he sat on the witness stand recently as a part of his plea deal, similar to the one that Gunna also accepted as a former defendant. During this testimony, an attorney asked him about his alleged compliance with wearing a wire back in July of 2015, and that he agreed to be an informant. Murphy retorted that he “can’t recall” ever agreeing to this or wearing a wire at all, staunchly denying that he was, or ever agreed to be, an informant.

Furthermore, this specific issue deals with what Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel once called one of the most damaging things in this trial: plea deals. While it’s impossible to blame someone for how they handled these strenuous circumstances many of us have no experience with, it’s also difficult to reckon with this testimony when it’s a part of an agreement like this. Still, since the trial’s inception almost two years ago, there are more relevant issues today that are plaguing its efficacy, objectivity, and clarity. For example, a state witness became very uncooperative with the prosecution’s questions, derailing their intention to strengthen their case.

In addition, some very concerning reports and testimonies emerged about members of the prosecution harassing a female witness. These incidents ranged across two specific instances from the District Attorney’s office: platitudes to pressure the woman into testifying and an investigator inappropriately flirting with her. Even though this is a pretty disturbing look, it’s not like the defense has fully been able to reverse the narrative, whether due to circumstance or by choice. Many of the problems in proving the veracity of this case come from the prosecution, but little in the way of countering evidence has swayed the court’s path.

Meanwhile, these reports also come amid updated witness lists, on which Lil Wayne no longer appears. In addition, the court also clarified whether Gunna will be a witness in this case or not, both for eligibility as a witness and for actually making it to trial. Maybe these witnesses will also prove either crucial or backfiring for the prosecution or defense. Either way, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and more updates on Young Thug and the YSL RICO case.

Young Thug Trial: State Confirms Whether Or Not Gunna Will Be A Witness

Overall, the Young Thug trial has been a bit of a confusing mess as of late. Although many have been following along closely, there have been all sorts of bizarre happenings that have fans concerned. For instance, witnesses have been blowing out mics while the state, the defense, and the judge have all gotten into verbal spats. Moreover, it is being said that this trial could take all the way until 2027 to play out. It feels like Thugger and all of hip-hop are on trial here, which makes it so that the stakes have never been higher.

Meanwhile, fans have been curious about where Gunna fits in all of this. He was arrested at the same time as Young Thug back in May of 2022. While he was in jail for a while, he was eventually freed. This subsequently led to accusations of being a snitch. Numerous artists throughout hip-hop decided to cut ties with the artist, and since that time, he has been rebuilding his career. On Tuesday, however, the snitch allegations were seemingly put to rest. This is because the state confirmed that Gunna will not be a witness in the case.

Good News For Gunna As The Young Thug Trial Continues

There is an extremely lengthy list of witnesses that still need to be called to the stand. That said, none of them are Gunna. This means he will not have to show up in court as his former mentor continues to face a potentially life-altering sentence. Only time will tell if artists who previously denounced Gunna, will make nice with him. Lil Baby, Drake, and even Metro Boomin have distanced themselves from the artist. Unfortunately for Gunna, this new information might not be enough to shift the perception.

Let us know what you think of the Young Thug trial so far, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that this is going to take three years to play out? What do you make of Gunna not being a witness in all of this? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Young Thug Trial: DA Investigator Caught Flirting With Female Witness Via Text

The Young Thug is once again showing that there’s far more wrong going on within it that has nothing to do with the subject of the trial itself. Moreover, the court recently saw text message exchanges between an investigator from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office and a female witness. Specifically, Investigator Rasheed Hamilton flirted with this woman, whom authorities arrested in order to get her to testify last month after she refused to cooperate, and following complaints, Thugger’s lawyers were able to obtain these messages. She testified that Hamilton harassed her in the same conversation in which they discussed the possibility of becoming a witness against the YSL collective’s six remaining defendants.

Furthermore, this pattern highlights the poor treatment of this witness throughout this process, as her testimony saw her claim that she was forced to testify despite her mental health struggles. In addition, there was also a dispute over whether or not the witness expressed to tell the judge he “can kiss her a**,” which prosecutors stand by. However, Young Thug’s defense argued on Monday (April 8) that this wasn’t the case, and that she complained about this harassment and requested a call with the judge. Text message exchanges also emerged between the witness and Adriane Love, the Chief Deputy D.A. and the lead prosecutor in this case, which weren’t as bad as Hamilton’s advances but still suggested foul play, the defense believes.

Young Thug Trial Tackles Inappropriate Flirting From Investigator To Witness

Click tweet above to see Meghann Cuniff’s full thread on the matter

Young Thug’s lawyer Keith Adams believes that Love’s personal messages to the witness indicate an unabashed attempt to win a witness’ favor in a criminal prosecution. The opposing side found these messages to be irrelevant to the trial, and simply niceties. Still, it seems like Judge Ural Glanville will not find these messages to be of much relevance, as Love was permitted to stay as lead prosecutor despite the rapper’s attorney, Brian Steel, questioning her witness interactions. What should’ve been a one or two-day testimony became so much more due to issues between the defense and the prosecution.

Meanwhile, this also follows complaints against the judge’s alleged bias from the defensive side. While this trial seems no closer to a resolution, we fear that this is only the beginning. Hopefully one day, some bond or bail can fall on the cards. For more news and the latest updates on the Young Thug trial, come back to HNHH.

Young Thug Trial: Witness Alleges Fulton County Investigator Sexually Harassed Her

Overall, the Young Thug trial has been a bit of a mess. The prosecution has come across as wholly unprepared. Meanwhile, there are reports that this trial could go for another three years. Ultimately, it has been sad to see Thugger in this position. Fans want him to come home, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon. Furthermore, with the reports of this trial going on for a long time, his rights to a speedy trial are seemingly being compromised. However, things got even more complicated during the 50th day of the trial, on Wednesday.

According to Fox 5, a witness for the trial alleged that an investigator within the Fulton County DA’s office “sexually harassed” her. Thug’s lawyer Keith Adams was cross-examining the witness on the stand, when he brought up the alleged sexual harassment. “You told us when you were back there that you didn’t want to come and see him because he had sexually harassed you,” Adams explained. The witness agreed with the statement, and also seemingly confirmed that the investigator allegedly wanted to date her.

The woman also went on to confirm an alleged story about how the investigator had her come to a restaurant with her son. He subsequently said that after the trial, he would be willing to take her out on a date. Overall, the witness was at the trial because she allegedly had her apartment robbed by Young Thug in 2013. She was refusing to appear for the trial at first, which led to her arrest. Now, she is free, however, it is clear that these proceedings have left her in a distressed state.
