Young Thug Was Smiling Ear To Ear After Quavo Visited Him In Court

Young Thug has been going through an incredibly tough time due to the YSL Rico Trial. Overall, this has been a strenuous trial that is not going as planned. Although the state believes it has a solid case, it could take years to fully present. In fact, there are some analysts who believe that this trial could go all the way until 2027. That would be extremely unfortunate, and would take up a whole lot of time. However, that seems to be the progression of things right now, and fans will just have to sit tight as this plays out.

So far, Thugger hasn’t gotten a ton of visitors in court. While his family has shown up from time to time, his artist friends have been fairly quiet. Thankfully, that trend officially came to an end on Wednesday as Quavo was in court for the trial. Quavo and Young Thug have made a ton of tracks together in the past, so it only makes sense that he would show up for his friend in need. In fact, Young Thug seemed pretty moved by the gesture, as he was all smiles once he saw the former Migo.

Young Thug Trial: Witness Alleges Fulton County Investigator Sexually Harassed Her

Overall, the Young Thug trial has been a bit of a mess. The prosecution has come across as wholly unprepared. Meanwhile, there are reports that this trial could go for another three years. Ultimately, it has been sad to see Thugger in this position. Fans want him to come home, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon. Furthermore, with the reports of this trial going on for a long time, his rights to a speedy trial are seemingly being compromised. However, things got even more complicated during the 50th day of the trial, on Wednesday.

According to Fox 5, a witness for the trial alleged that an investigator within the Fulton County DA’s office “sexually harassed” her. Thug’s lawyer Keith Adams was cross-examining the witness on the stand, when he brought up the alleged sexual harassment. “You told us when you were back there that you didn’t want to come and see him because he had sexually harassed you,” Adams explained. The witness agreed with the statement, and also seemingly confirmed that the investigator allegedly wanted to date her.

The woman also went on to confirm an alleged story about how the investigator had her come to a restaurant with her son. He subsequently said that after the trial, he would be willing to take her out on a date. Overall, the witness was at the trial because she allegedly had her apartment robbed by Young Thug in 2013. She was refusing to appear for the trial at first, which led to her arrest. Now, she is free, however, it is clear that these proceedings have left her in a distressed state.

Arkansas Rapper Arrested Over Lyrical Content, Draws Comparisons To YSL Trial

Over the weekend, a Bentonville, Arkansas rapper was arrested over the content he raps about and drew comparisons to YSL. According to All Hip Hop, Reese Alexander Sullivan has been accused of writing and performing rap lyrics that pose a threat to public safety. He’s reported to have made a variety of threats in his songs including shooting up schools, blowing up churches, and even assassinating the president. Sullivan claimed to the FBI that his lyrics were jokes not meant to be taken literally. Regardless, he was charged with felony terroristic threatening and released on bail ahead of his December 11 court date.

The case has become part of a much bigger discussion about freedom of expression in rap music and in the courts. That debate has been going on for years but was recently re-invigorated by a decision in Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial. Last week, the judge ruled that past lyrics the rapper has written were eligible to be used against him in the trial. It didn’t take long for prosecutors to do exactly that. They first cited bars from Thugger’s 2021 collaboration with Juice WRLD “Bad Boy.”

Local Rapper’s Lyrics Get Him Arrested, Compared To YSL

The hip hop world quickly spoke out against the judge’s ruling in the YSL case. Killer Mike was one of the first to come out and make a statement. He said he was “scared” by the ruling and that the use of lyrics in court and that it infringes on the first amendment rights of every citizen.

Meek Mill also took to twitter to explains his reservations with the judge’s ruling. He made a post calling for both Young Thug and YFN Lucci to be freed. In the post he also elaborated that the ruling has him scared to even do interviews. That’s because it’s impossible to know what could be ruled eligible in trial. What do you think of a rapper in Arkansas being arrested for the content of his lyrics? Let us know in the comment section below.

Fani Willis Defends Use Of Rap Lyrics As Evidence

Fulton County DA Fani Willis has defended her choice to submit rap lyrics as evidence in the cases that she prosecutes. “I think if you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m going to use it. I’m going to continue to do that; people can continue to be angry about it. I have some legal advice: Don’t confess to crimes on rap lyrics if you do not want them used. Or at least get out of my county. I’m not targeting anyone, but you do not get to commit crimes in my county and then decide to brag on it. Which you do as a form of intimidation, and not be held responsible,” Williams told reporters at the start of September.

Two notable examples of Willis submitting rap lyrics as evidence came in August. Willis submitted the music of members of the Drug Rich gang, who were accused of targeting the houses of rich and notable residents of Atlanta. Meanwhile, Willis also submitted Young Thug lyrics as evidence in the ongoing YSL RICO trial.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that one of the YSL attorneys actually gave Young Thug his first felony. YSL defense attorney Suri Chadha Jimenez has claimed he gave Young Thug his first-ever felony charge. According to Jimenez, who was speaking on the nuances of the current RICO case, he prosecuted Thug on a weapons charge back in 2014. Jimenez began his career as a prosecutor before going on to set up his own defense firm. Furthermore, Jimenez’s name has popped up throughout the trial as the attorney has gotten something of his own spotlight.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Georgia successfully lobbied for the resumption of the larger YSL trial. Thug and seven other defendants are facing a litany of charges relating to the group’s operations in Atlanta. However, it has been a long and tortured process. Despite the trial starting in January, jury selection is currently ongoing. It is unclear when the trial proper will actually begin. Meanwhile, things were complicated further when Fulton County also indicted Donald Trump and over a dozen associates on charges relating to his interference in the 2020 election.

Gunna Shows Love To Young Thug At First Post-Jail Show

Gunna went out of his way to show love to Young Thug during his first show since being released from jail last year. Performing at the Barclay Center in New York, Gunna opened the show with a large “Free Jeffery” sign lit up. Young Thug’s legal name is Jeffrey Williams Jr. While Gunna released his first post-jail album, A Gift & a Curse, earlier this year, he hadn’t yet performed live. That all changed with an electric concert in front of a sold-out crowd in New York.

While many fans were over the moon to see Gunna return to the stage, not everyone was happy. Gunna is still carrying a lot of stigma over the plea deal he took in the YSL RICO case. Gunna’s December 2022 jail release came after he took a plea deal and acknowledged that YSL was a criminal gang. Furthermore, Gunna’s sentence would be completely terminated after completing community service. This has led many to label Gunna a rat and a coward. These people believe that he sold out Thug and the other members of YSL.

While Gunna is free and performing, his YSL peers are looking at a much bleaker future. After YSL Polo was convicted of shooting a man on camera, prosecutors in Georgia successfully lobbied for the resumption of the larger YSL trial.

Despite renewed pleas for Thug to receive bond, the YSL leader and many of his peers remain behind bars in Georgia. The trial is set to resume as soon as October. However, many legal experts expect that it could last another six to eight months. Despite this, that could be further delayed based on what happens with the Trump case, which is also ongoing but not yet at the trial stage. All of this remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge. Follow all the latest news about the YSL trial here at HotNewHipHop.

Young Thug Gets A Birthday Shoutout From Gunna

Gunna recently took to social media, seemingly celebrating the birthday of one of his old friends. He posted a photo of Young Thug, who turned 32 today, sitting inside of a hot pink Bentley. The apparent “happy birthday” post raised some eyebrows, as Gunna is famously accused of “snitching” on the rapper. In May, he and Young Thug along with several other YSL affiliates were indicted in a major RICO case. Gunna was later released from prison at the end of 2022.

For those who don’t know, the YSL founder remains behind bars amid the RICO case. He’s facing several gang charges tied to YSL, and has been denied bond more than once. The jury selection process remains ongoing, as it’s proven to be a daunting task. Reportedly, the artist has been facing health problems, even getting hospitalized earlier this summer. According to reports, his lawyers are concerned for his overall “wellbeing.”

Gunna Posts Young Thug On His IG Story

Gunna has continued to deny the snitching allegations, however, this hasn’t prevented him from being endlessly trolled both online and in-person. Despite the hate, Gunna dropped a new album, A Gift & a Curse, earlier this summer and it’s been a major success. On the album, he appears to address the allegations, seemingly calling for Young Thug not to listen to chatter about the “snitching.” “Know you hearin’ the lies that your lil’ brother might fold (Gunna Wunna) / Yeah, I had popped out, but don’t let ’em say I told,” he raps on “i was just thinking.”

Exactly one week later, Young Thug dropped his own LP from behind bars, Business Is Business. He also appears to address the rumors in his new album. “N***as told and he was my homie, I can’t miss him, Ain’t nobody feel him,” he raps on “Jonesboro.” As of now, some fans speculate that the duo may be back on good terms, while others claim their friendship is over for good.

Young Thug’s Sister Reacts To Quando Rondo Getting Bond Before Him

Young Thug’s sister, Dolly White, believes that another famous rapper got off easy on gang-related charges while her brother remains behind bars. Moreover, she reacted on Twitter to the news of Quando Rondo getting a $100K bond on charges of allegedly leading the Rollin’ 60s gang, drug-related charges, and other crimes. Given the nature of these allegations, it’s easy to compare his sprawling indictment with 18 codefendants to that of Thug and YSL. In addition, White also lamented the unsuccessful (as of writing this article) search for jurors in her brother’s criminal case. Most importantly, she questioned why a failing system gives one person bond on these charges but leaves another in the dust.

“So quando got a bond on Rico charges but they won’t give Jeff one,” White tweeted of Young Thug’s situation in relation to Quando Rondo’s, although she’s probably not suggesting that Rondo should be in jail for more. In subsequent tweets, she elaborated on her thoughts. “Let alone found not one juror to start the process,” White wrote. “The system failing us when they won’t Free Jeff already damn.” While both cases are surely quite different, the quest for Thugger’s bond proved to be much more difficult than many likely expected.

Dolly White Laments That Quando Rondo Got Bond, But Young Thug Hasn’t

For one, the necessity of bond was stressed when the Atlanta trap pioneer was hospitalized amid reports of poor health and fatigue. Also, it’s been over a year since Young Thug and other YSL member were arrested, and yet there’s been little progress in the trial. As such, Dolly White’s clamors join a whole host of others online that beg for Thug and company’s release. Seeing other rappers’ freedom on similar charges, however unique their case may be, must be a frustrating experience. Nevertheless, hopefully this changes soon and we at least see swift development in the RICO indictment to at least keep family members out of limbo.

All that said, the 31-year-old continues to make huge impacts in the game, even from a jail cell. He just released the album BUSINESS IS BUSINESS that recently had a reordered version from Metro Boomin with two new tracks, one of which features Juice WRLD and Nicki Minaj. With that, fans are happy that more of his music is coming out amid hard times, which will surely support his family and maintain his artistic legacy. Still, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s behind bars, and that more humane and equitable treatment is all that his family asks for. On that note, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Young Thug.

YSL Case: Lil Rod’s Father Says D.A. Promised Freedom For Snitching On Young Thug

It could take months before the finalized jury is chosen for the YSL case, meaning Young Thug and his associates have a long journey ahead. Of the over two dozen alleged associates listed in the RICO indictment against YSL, only eight co-defendants remain. Young Thug is counted among those still fighting for their freedom. He and his team also insist that YSL is a record label, not a criminal street organization, as prosecutors alleged.

They face allegations of being involved in a slew of crimes that include drug trafficking, intimidation, witness tampering, assault, conspiracy, and even attempted murder. District Attorney Fani Willis has been at the center of this highly publicized case, and according to defendant Lil Rod’s father, she offered him freedom. That is if he snitched on Young Thug.

“Ms. Willis went down to that jail and told my son if he—if!” the angry father shared in a clip. “Listen to what I say. I ain’t tellin’ you what I heard, I’m tellin’ you what I know. ‘If he say Thug gave him $10,000 to [inaudible] that boy, then we’ll let you out of jail.’” Lil Rod, real name Rodalius Ryan, has faced several issues since incarceration.

Ryan was recently involved in a run-in with a deputy. It was alleged that Lil Rod spat on the officer, resulting in being manhandled. Earlier this month, news reports stated that Ryan was also named with two others in an alleged jailhouse stabbing. Additionally, new charges are expected to be added due to that incident.

Rod’s attorney previously demanded an investigation into the altercation with the deputy. It was further alleged that the officer hit Rod in the head, leaving cuts and bruises. It was alleged that excessive force was used during the incident. Prosecutors were accused of expediting the investigation to cover up any mishandling.

Thug also continues to await his day in court as he denies culpability in illegal activity. It was rumored that Willis believed Thugger was the leader of a gang, so he hasn’t been offered a plea deal as several others have, including Gunna.

Young Thug Codefendants Accused In Prison Stabbing

Authorities accused three of Young Thug’s codefendants of a prison stabbing. Moreover, YSL members Bhris, Bali, and Lil Rod allegedly stabbed another inmate in Fulton County Jail, according to county Sheriff Pat Labat’s words to WSB-TV. While YSL’s sprawling RICO case is underway, these members could face completely new charges. Still, officials haven’t shared additional details about the attack, such as the identity and status of the victim. However, Rodalius “Lil Rod” Ryan and Damone “Bali” Blalock are serving life in prison due to separate murder charges. Meanwhile, officials accused Christian “Bhris” Eppinger of a February 2022 shooting against an Atlanta police officer.

Furthermore, Eppinger also allegedly stabbed YFN Lucci in Fulton County Jail last February along with another YSL member. Both Eppinger and Antonio “Obama” Sumlin (who since took a plea deal) sought Thugger’s permission to make another attempt on Lucci’s life, according to prosecutors. However, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution obtained a statement from Ryan’s attorney Angela D’Williams maintaing her client’s innocence in the stabbing. “Mr. Ryan is hopeful that there is a thorough investigation and that there is not a rush to judgement,” she said. “Mr. Ryan maintains his innocence regarding this incident.”

Meanwhile, officials hit Ryan with additional charges for delaying trial proceedings, for which jury selection began last month. Moreover, authorities described Ryan as an “ongoing problem.” Also, he allegedly spat in a deputy sheriff’s face while awaiting court transportation on January 23. Additionally, the court implicated Ryan in the alleged drug deal involving Thug and YSL codefendant Khalieff Adams. Moreover, Adams stands accused of passing his label leader a single Percocet pill during court session.

While Young Thug faces eight charges and awaits trial, people in his circle shared he’s still in good spirits. Moreover, this support comes after a video of him looking tired and defeated in court went viral. “I be talking to him, he’s blessed man,” Metro Boomin expressed last month to DJ Drama. “Anybody know Slime know he got a heart of gold, but he got the heart of a warrior at the same time, so he got his head up.” As always, come back to HNHH for the latest developments in the YSL case.

Reese LAFLARE Reacts To News Outlet Using His Photo Instead Of Young Thug’s

YSL’s RICO trial has been looming over the music industry ever since the arrest of Young Thug and others in May of last year.

There have been countless reports and updates on the case over these past months. However, none of this prevented a news outlet from making a critical mistake in one of their latest articles on the trial.

In the since-deleted tweet, FOX26 Houston reports on the upcoming RICO trial. “Rapper Young Thug, accused by prosecutors of co-founding a criminal street gang responsible for violent crimes and using his songs and social media to promote it, is set to go to trial starting Monday,” writes the network in the post.

While this information is certainly accurate, the article’s accompanying photo is not of Thugger. It’s instead a picture of a different Atlanta rapper, Reese LAFLARE. “Stop using my picture,” the “No Hook” rapper writes in response after seeing his photo wrongly attributed to the case.

LAFLARE went on to show his support for the So Much Fun rapper, tweeting out “Free Jeffery” multiple times. “I mean [I] do have a YSL chain on in the pic but cmon now,” he writes afterwards. He ends it by simply tweeting, “I need a Lawyer.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only case of a news network getting it wrong when reporting on rappers. Just a few weeks ago, ABC accidentally put a photo of Quavo rather than Takeoff in their year-end “In-Memorium” segment. When the tribute for the “Casper” rapper appeared on the screen, it was instead a photo of his uncle.
