Today, Fox News is actually under scrutiny for a bizarre rant from Raymond Arroyo that takes aim at black voters.
Speaking on Donald Trump’s new sneakers, Arroyo made the claim that Trump’s new shoes will lead to votes in the black community. His hypothesis is that black people love shoes and therefore, they will connect with Trump more than they would with Joe Biden. “This a big deal, certainly in the inner city,” Arroyo said. “So when you have Trump roll out his sneaker line, they’re like, ‘wait a minute, this is cool.’ He’s reaching them on a level that defies and is above politics. The culture always trumps politics. And Trump understands culture like no politician I’ve ever seen.”
This clip is now going viral and for all of the wrong reasons. As you can imagine, many find this clip absolutely offensive. In the comments over at The Shade Room, many commenters felt like the commentary from Arroyo was belittling and downright racist. “Sir go to the nearest hell ain’t no body in the hood rocking no January 6s,” one commenter wrote. “Y’all letting the white people play right in our faces,” said another. Clearly, Arroyo should know better. However, this is Fox News, so the bar is going to be below the earth to begin with.

On Monday Fox News host Martha MacCallum brought on Outkick host Charly Arnolt, who last year got in a tizzy over Disney casting a non-white actress to play Snow White — you know, despite her name. This time Arnolt was, as many on the right weirdly are right now, up in arms over Time’s 2023 Person of the Year, especially since her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is going to the Super Bowl.
Noting grimly that Swift endorsed Biden in 2020, Arnolt said she’s so worried about her boyfriend going to the Super Bowl that she was rooting for the Baltimore Ravens to beat the Chiefs, “just because we have had enough of Taylor Swift for now.”
Alas, the Ravens lost and Swift’s boyfriend is going to the Super Bowl. But all is not lost. Arnolt noted that there’s an online poll “begging people to become 9ers fans for the next two weeks, just so it doesn’t raise Travis Kelcie aka Mr. Phizer’s star power along with, of course, Taylor Swift.”
Nevermind that it’s probably not possible for Swift to become any more famous than she is already. But that’s what so freezes Arnolt’s blood.
“It is so scary! There’s a recent poll: 1/5th of Taylor Swift fans said they would back whatever candidate she endorsed,” Arnolt warned viewers. She allowed that a good chunk of her fanbase are “15-year-old girls who can’t vote anyways” and that “a lot of the others are liberal women who would support the DNC no matter what.
“But,” Arnolt prophesized, “there’s a lot of other people who need to be careful, because she doesn’t do what she says. For example, the other day, yesterday, she flew private from New York City to Baltimore. Yet she constantly talks about climate change.”
Arnolt asked anyone watching her to “please don’t believe everything Taylor Swift says. We’re all begging you.”
And so continues the right’s bizarre war on someone whose fanbase is not only gargantuan but militant against anyone who dares besmirch her, be they Golden Globes hosts or, possibly, Fox News regulars. Besides, what better way to lock down the youth vote than to the most popular celebrity under 35.

Fox News has finally addressed Lauren Boebert’s recent scandal in which she was kicked out of a Beetlejuice production for inappropriate behavior. On Monday night, Laura Ingraham and Raymond Arroyo jokingly compared Boebert’s behavior to that of Megan Thee Stallion.

There is no hesitation about releasing or dumping video out when it’s some Republican who has done something goofy, stupid, or embarrassing but heaven forbid you have a Democrat doing something, it usually takes forever to get that video out,” Ingraham said on the show.

“Look, I’m an equal opportunity reporter here on this stuff,” Arroyo said. “If we’re going to argue that you need a code of dress and I think you do, you need a code of conduct, too. You are the congresswoman of Colorado, not Megan Thee Stallion. So, slow your roll. Have some self-restraint. It’s going to be a very difficult re-election season for her, I think.” It’s far from the first time Fox News has made reference to Megan Thee Stallion. Back in 2021, the network was critical of her iconic Grammy performance with Cardi B.
As for the inappropriate behavior, A security camera caught Boebert with a male companion getting intimate during the Denver Center for the Performing Arts production of the show. She also was reportedly vaping while in her seat. She released a public apology afterward. “The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I’m truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community. While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that,” she said. Boebert also later told TMZ that she and the man she was with have since parted ways.
John Roberts first addressed the Boebert fiasco while filling in for Bret Baier, things went predictably off the rail when Laura Ingraham entered the fray. After getting teed up by Raymond Arroyo who noted that there “have been many other politicians who have been caught in similar situations” — which seems like a stretch as more details emerge — Ingraham went straight to saying the now-infamous groping video was only released because Boebert is a Republican.

NBA journeyman Enes Freedom has become something of a Fox News regular in recent weeks. Born Enes Kanter, Freedom changed his surname to protest the government of his birth nation of Turkey. However, Freedom doesn’t believe that certain other people should be afforded that same right. He was on Fox News this week to fearmonger about trans athletes.
“I’m 7-foot, 270 pounds,” he said. “And, if I decided to identify myself as a woman and decided to play in the WNBA. Would that be fair to all the women who have been chasing their dreams since they were a little kid? “If I am allowed in, I will average 60 points and 30 rebounds. I will break records. Men do not belong in women’s spaces,” he said. “Restrooms, locker rooms or sports. Everybody knows we are bigger, stronger, taller, more muscular,” he added. “It’s just not fair. It’s just not fair, period.” Kanter later posted trolling images with a similar message on social media.
What Enes Freedom (And Right Wing Media) Gets Wrong About Trans Athletes
Firstly, it’s very telling that Freedom, a career 11.2/7.8 player, believes that his stats would nearly sextuple in ppg and more than triple in rpg if he joined the WNBA. It’s a very common idea that the WNBA’s quality is so bad that even mediocre players, like Freedom, would be unto gods in the league. Of course, it’s wrong. The WNBA is the best women’s league in the world. Furthermore, comparing the WNBA and NBA is folly because who would do that in a serious context? Additionally, it’s interesting that Freedom chooses to bash a women’s league by talking about how utterly dominant he would be as a way of explaining why it needs to be “defended”. It’s a common trope found in right-wing media, exaggerating feminity fragile to make trans women seem like monsters.
Additionally, the ignorance on display in Freedom’s comments is staggering, if unsurprisingly for a right-wing commentator. Due to the exact scenario that Freedom is described, you cannot simply declare yourself a woman and demand to play in the WNBA. The WNBA implemented a gender policy in 2016, requiring hormone testing and legally-binding medical testimony from certified professionals. This is very similar to pretty much every other level of professional sport, which has similar regulations. Lia Thomas, the right’s go-to trans villain in the sports world, sat out for a year to ensure compliance with the NCAA’s own policy. Once again, the right is trying to fearmonger about trans athletes without the slightest clue what they are talking about. For the record, there are currently zero trans women playing in the WNBA.
Donald Trump described himself as “the king” during his latest rant on his Truth Social platform. The former president had been discussing the news that MSNBC beat out Fox News in both total viewers and in the key 25-54 age demographic for the prior week on prime time. The feat snapped a 120-week winning streak for the conservative outlet.
“Well, it’s happened, just as I predicted,” Trump began, before adding, “The Golden Goose that was so beautiful is being slaughtered by Fools. MAGA has left Fox for more promising ‘prairies.’ Long live the King. The only solution for Fox News is to bring back Trump Allies and MAGA—Backing No Personality Ron DeSanctimonious has been a disaster….”

He continued: “….Also—Do not broadcast negative ads against Republican and Conservative Candidates by Perverts and Misfits like the Failing Lincoln Project, and others. Roger Ailes never allowed that—And neither should a new and less successful Fox. Big turnoff! MSDNC and Fake News CNN will never allow positive Republican ads or hit pieces on Crooked Joe Biden. Fox must get smart fast before it’s too late. Only ‘TRUMP’ can save Fox News. It is in freefall!”
Trump’s Truth Social rant comes days after he pleaded not guilty to charges relating to the mishandling of classified documents. In total, Trump faces 37 criminal charges including counts of retaining classified information, obstructing justice, and making false statements, among others. The worst of the offenses carry prison sentences of up to 20 years.
Fox News dropped a bomb back in April when they surprised everyone by firing Tucker Carlson. Carlson had served as the network’s primetime news host since 2016 on Tucker Carlson Tonight. Because of the lack of reason given for his firing and the relative silence from Carlson himself in the weeks following there was little known about what would come next. In a tweet last week Carlson announced, then dropped the first episode of his new show. The show is posted exclusively to Twitter and features extended monologs of Tucker speaking from his house. Compared to most news programs the show is strikingly lo-fi and features a more ranting style.
Fox News isn’t playing around about the show though. They claim that his new web show is a direct breach of his contract with Fox. They’ve reportedly sent Tucker Carlson a cease & desist letter to try and stop the show’s creation. Unsurprisingly, the letter evoked a fiery response from Carlson. “Fox News continues to ignore the interests of its viewers, not to mention its shareholder obligations. Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, Fox is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election,” his statement read.
“Tucker will not be silenced by anyone” Carlson’s legal team’s statement continues. His team is also insisting that Tucker’s voice is too important to be silenced. “He is a singularly important voice on matters of public interest in our country, and will remain so,” the statement concludes. This back and forth follows Fox News apparently confiscating equipment from Carlson’s house before he began shooting episodes.
Following his firing at Fox News, speculation was rampant online for an explanation. Tucker Carlson most recently crossed over into the hip-hop world when he invited Kanye West onto the show. After West made openly antisemitic comments and was largely de-platformed Carlson offered him a place to explain himself.
