GloRilla Feels ‘Blessed’ With Yo Gotti In The Wake Of Her ‘FNF’ Success

Last month, Memphis rap godfather Yo Gotti signed an up-and-coming rapper from his hometown named GloRilla to his label, CMG, after her single “FNF (Let’s Go)” took off in a big way, becoming one of the viral breakouts of the year. Fans named “FNF” the song of the summer and have spent the past few months celebrating Glo for her rough-and-ready rhymes and down-to-earth bearing. Today, she followed up with her second single since signing to CMG, “Blessed.”

Built on a sparse but hard-hitting beat produced by Macaroni Toni, the new track sees Glo reiterating her realness, asserting that she’d “rather give the people hope” because “it’s pointless to giving f*cks.” She also says she maintains her “ratchet tendencies” despite moving to the suburbs and is more focused on taking care of her people than showing off for clout. Yo Gotti comes in on the second verse to back her up — although it’s clear she doesn’t really need it — and details the levels to his success.

Earlier this week GloRilla gave her fans another example of her commitment to authenticity, telling her followers on Instagram she has no plans of getting plastic surgery despite apparently being encouraged to by some who are used to female stars getting their features augmented. “You mfs better get use to this slim body, green eyes & big beautiful nose of mine cause ain’t a damn thing gone change,” she wrote. “Y’all can hate y’all self all ya want but I luv me some BIG GLO.”

CMG’s 10Percent Drops New Mixtape ‘Broke Before You Heard This’

CMG's 10Percent Drops New Mixtape 'Broke Before You Heard This'

The new mixtape Broke Before You Heard This by CMG signee 10Percent has been released via CMG Records.

The fan-favorite song “Major Payne,” which 10Percent and his labelmate Moneybagg Yo recorded, is featured on the mixtape. The song was included on the compilation album Gangsta Art by CMG, which was released in the middle of July, and the duo collaborated on a video that dropped earlier this week.

Broke Before You Heard This is the first drop from 10Percent since he aligned with Yo Gotti and CMG. Leading up to the release, he dropped “Worth Mo Dirty” and “Out The Blue.”

Yo Gotti, Moneybagg Yo And CMG Show That Life Imitates Art In The Somber ‘Gangsta Art’ Video

People may admire the canvasses, but they can never know the full story behind each brush stroke if it isn’t told. Though Collective Music Group may appear successful on the surface, there is pain and struggle behind their journeys that makes where they are now even more laudable. Their latest video for “Gangsta Art,” featuring Yo Gotti, Moneybagg Yo, 42 Dugg, EST Gee, Blac Youngsta and Lehla Samia, tells the story behind their work

Samia handles the hook while Mozzy, Moneybagg, Gee, Dugg, Youngsta and Gotti all tell their own stories through verses accompanied by elaborate scenes. Mozzy spits from bedside, EST Gee sits on a bench, Moneybagg Yo shows blood dripping from his shoulders, Blac Youngsta is chained up, and Yo Gotti sits in front of an oven. The only person missing from the video is the incarcerated 42 Dugg, but his energy is still felt.

“Gangsta Art” is both the opener and title track from CMG’s latest label compilation album. Gangsta Art also features Kodak Black, Coi Leray, Big30, and more across its 27 records. If CMG somehow wasn’t on radars before, they are making sure to change that with efforts like this.

42 Dugg is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Yo Gotti, Moneybagg Yo, Mozzy, EST Gee, Lehla Samia, Blac Youngsta, and 42 Dugg teamed up to release the new music video for “Gangsta Art.”

The single is the lead from the album of the same name, which features Yo Gotti, CEO of CMG, and the All-Star roster of the illustrious record label, including Moneybagg Yo, Blac Youngsta, EST Gee, 42 Dugg, GloRilla, Blocboy JB, Mozzy, Lil Poppa, Big Boogie, Lehla Samia, and 10Percent.

Lehla Samia, an R&B singer who was the first woman to work for CMG and whose hiring marked the label’s entry into the R&B market, lends her voice to the new single. In May, Gotti gave the 22-year-old singer a brand-new, pink Lamborghini Urus as a surprise to welcome her to the CMG family.

The video, which was directed by Ben Marc, also features old footage of Gotti signing his team over the years. You can see the new video below.

Yo Gotti Thanks Memphis Police for Stopping Potential Mass Shooting at Birthday Bash 8

Yo Gotti Responds To Colorist Accusations Following The Release of 'Drop' Music Video Featuring DaBaby

Over the weekend, Yo Gotti hosted Birthday Bash 8 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. The show brought Lil Uzi Vert, Moneybagg Yo, and more to the stage and thankfully went off without any issues, despite a threat to the event. According to Fox 13 Memphis, the Memphis Police Department picked up a terroristic threat before the event and arrested a man targeting the concert.

At 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, officers went to the 200 block of South Main Street in response to an armed mental citizen. They found the suspect, Elijah Hyman, and his girlfriend at the scene. The man was stated to have been distraught as he and his girlfriend had just broken up. Hyman is believed to have wanted to kill himself and everyone leaving Birthday Bash once the event was over.

Inside his home, Hyman had several weapons. He was arrested, taken to a medical center for treatment and evaluation, and charged with the commission of the Act of Terrorism.

After the event, Yo Gotti thanked officers for apprehending Hyman.

Yo Gotti Thanked The Memphis Police Department For Stopping A Shooting A One Of His Recent Shows

While Yo Gotti’s birthday was in May, the rapper took to the FedEx Forum in Memphis for his annual Birthday Bash concert. Gotti has held the event yearly since 2012, but it was canceled in both 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. The concert featured appearances from Boosie Badazz, Lil Durk, SleazyWorld Go, Lil Uzi Vert, EST Gee, Blac Youngsta, Big Boogie, Mozzy, and more. The night went smoothly as planned, but afterward, a man was arrested after he threatened to kill everyone coming from the FedEx Forum.

Fox 13 Memphis reports that the suspect, Elijah Hyman, was distraught due to a recent breakup that he experienced with his girlfriend. Police say that Hyman said he was going to commit suicide and kill everyone that exited Gotti’s concert. Hyman was apprehended by police and taken in for medical treatment and evaluation. The suspect was also found with several weapons in his possession, and as a result, he was charged with commission of the act of terrorism.

Afterward, Gotti thanked the Memphis PD for the work in stopping the potential shooting. “Thank you to the fans, artists and everyone involved behind the scenes for making Birthday Bash a smooth, secure and successful event,” he wrote in the first of three tweets. “We were informed of a potential threat regarding an individual seeking to harm attendees leaving Birthday Bash that occurred 3 hours after our show ended.” He added, “I would also like to thank the Memphis Police Department for their swift and proactive action in ensuring that all attendees returned home safely.”
