Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ Album Release Date Might’ve Been Revealed Thanks To A Few Billboard Ads In Los Angeles

Following years of building up anticipation, Travis Scott’s forthcoming album, Utopia, finally received an official release date. Thanks to a few high-flying advertisements displayed throughout Los Angeles, California, we now know to expect either the project or a single from the project to hit streaming platforms on July 21. Incidentally, that’s the day before his Rolling Loud Miami performance.

Both billboards point out the same string of numbers. The first display, which features stone figures, takes the shape of an analog clock point at the seven o’clock hour and just after the 20-minute mark, with the line, “Is it in the Chateau?”

The second graphic is much more straightforward, as a lock shows the numeric sequence, each number is locked in, but the space indicating the month is stuck between 7 and 8. So, fans believe it’s the rapper’s way of saying something big will happen in July and August. To theorize briefly, the album could drop in July, with a tour announcement dropping the following month — or a single release in July with the entire project to follow.

During an interview with PinUp Magazine, the entertainer spoke about the meaning behind the project’s title. “Utopia is something that people feel is so far-fetched and out of reach, some perfect state of mind. But you create it yourself. There are people who achieve utopia every day. They may not be the richest people with the dopest cribs, but it’s a utopia wherever they are, and that’s the most you can have,” said Scott.

He added, “With every album, I live in these worlds in my mind — I’m trying to show people experiences where utopian things can exist, and you can enjoy yourself and have a good time. They can create energy that spews out magical things — new cures, new buildings, new avenues for people to move forward. People need to see that utopia is real.”

Travis Scott has been teasing fans to an absurd degree when it comes to UTOPIA. Overall, it has almost been five years since the release of Astroworld. Consequently, fans are feeling starved for new music. In many ways, this is reminiscent of how Kendrick Lamar took five years between Damn and Mr. Morale. Nevertheless, fans are still excited about this new project, and they are looking for all sorts of clues that could hint at when this album is going to be released.

So far, Travis Scott has provided plenty of context clues in the form of his “UTOPIA” briefcase. Typically, Mike Dean or other big-name artists can be seen with the briefcase. This is meant to be a hint of who is going to be featured on the project. Although, there is no guarantee these artists even make the final cut. Furthermore, UTOPIA was recently added to Travis Scott’s website, which has fans wondering about the next steps. Well, on Monday evening, billboards went up throughout Los Angeles. These billboards contain UTOPIA branding and they have some pretty glaring hints throughout.

Travis Scott Continues To Hint

In the tweet above, you can see that the billboard on the left showcases a clock with the hands pointing to 7:21. Moreover, there is another billboard with a lock combination that leads your eyes over to 07/21. When you do the deductions in your head here, you realize that July 21st jumps out at you. Upon doing some research, it is revealed that July 21st is on a Friday, which is when new music comes out. Consequently, fans are now convinced that UTOPIA is set to drop in 24 days from now.

However, it needs to be made clear that Travis Scott has yet to officially announce this release date. Instead, it is simply a theory based on the billboards. Although, given the timelines we have been made privy to over the past few weeks, perhaps this release date does make a lot of sense. Is Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ Dropping Soon?

Travis Scott’s upcoming fourth album, Utopia, may finally be nearing its release after being delayed by the tragedy at Astroworld Festival in 2021 and Travis’s subsequent withdrawal from the spotlight. While Travis has continued to tease the album as he inched back into the spotlight, putting up billboards and playing it for his hometown Houston Astros, his official website now offers a strong indication that the official release date could be within sight.

Travis had apparently first revealed the title of the album back in 2020. In a post celebrating the second anniversary of his chart-topping third album, Astroworld, he wrote, “See you in Utopia,” prompting fans to speculate that this would be the next album’s title. Since then, the album has been one of the most anticipated in hip-hop, but fans have had to wait longer than they perhaps might have ordinarily due to the Astro Festival disaster, which caused 10 deaths in 2021, including that of a 10-year-old boy.

Throughout the next year, Travis laid low, surfacing in the second half of the year to begin performing festival-headlining sets again, including Primavera Sound in Sao Paolo, Rolling Loud in Los Angeles, Miami, Portugal, Rotterdam, and Thailand, and the UK’s Wireless Festival. He also starred in Nike’s new campaign for the return of the Mac Attack tennis shoe, in which he fittingly carried a briefcase emblazoned — what else? — Utopia.

While we still don’t know exactly when the album drops, it certainly seems to be soon enough that his hints have become more overt. The wait may be over sooner than we think.

Travis Scott Updates Website With “UTOPIA” Logo

Travis Scott is easily one of the best artists in the world. Overall, he is someone that fans have wanted to hear from for a very long time. However, despite numerous teasers, he has yet to release UTOPIA. Fans are starting to get a little antsy, and understandably so. Thankfully, the recent teasers for the album indicate that it should be dropping very soon. After all, Mike Dean has made it crystal clear that he is finishing up the last touches for the album. This includes mixing and mastering, which Dean has always been phenomenal at.

Nevertheless, fans are hoping for a classic. That is exactly what Astroworld was, and consequently, fans have extremely high expectations. For now, however, it still remains to be seen whether or not he can actually live up to these expectations. After all, he has been giving his supporters about five years’ worth of build-up. That said, according to @kurrco on Twitter, there might be some light at the end of the tunnel.

In the tweet below, you can see that Travis Scott’s website now has the UTOPIA logo on the front page. Moreover, the website allows fans to either get text messages, Discord, or email updates on the album. Furthermore, in the website’s code, there is a line about pre-ordering the album. Needless to say, this project is very much on the horizon. While we still don’t have a release date or any other information to go off of, it is clear that something special is on the way.

Hopefully, Travis Scott will finally stop playing around and give us the release date we have all been waiting for. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Bad Bunny spoke about how life has been as of late. He also got to touch on the Travis collab, and the fanfare around it. “We worked on that a while back — and I think Travis has been working on his project for a minute,” the artist explained. From there, he went on to talk about how he is already thinking of what is next for him. “I spend so much time thinking about what I’m going to do next, thinking and creating, imagining things,” he said. “I already know where I’m going.”

Hopefully this tweet means that Mr. Rager is featured on one or both of these highly anticipated 2023 albums. Moreover, Kid Cudi recently took to the social media platform to express his excitement for Travis Scott’s UTOPIA and Lil Uzi Vert’s The Pink Tape. Both albums are rumored to drop very soon this year, with Uzi’s being teased to death these days and presumably dropping on June 30. Sure, UTOPIA is in a similar place of endless hype, but there’s less concrete details directly from La Flame’s mouth in comparison to what Baby Pluto has given us so far. While Cudi has never worked with Uzi before, the excitement should be nothing new considering recent news.

Furthermore, Kid Cudi tapped Lil Uzi Vert to perform at his upcoming Moon Man’s Landing Festival in 2023. As such, presumably the two have a good working relationship, and thus a good reason to collaborate. Maybe that’s wishful thinking, but at least that doesn’t have the pressure of a Cudi and Travis Scott link-up. After all, their potential collaborative project has been confirmed, discarded, or put on hold in the past.

Travis Scott and his producer Mike Dean were recently spotted working on Scott’s upcoming album, UTOPIA, at Abbey Road Studios. Dean shared a photo of the rapper on Instagram, writing “WE AT ABBEY!” The London recording studio is known for becoming a home base for The Beatles in the ’60s, later being renamed after their 1969 LP, Abbey Road. Travis Scott and his security team recently recreated the iconic album cover, walking in a line outside the studio with Scott’s famous UTOPIA briefcase in tow.

Scott has continued to tease the highly-anticipated album, being spotted several times recently with security toting the UTOPIA briefcase. Scott also joined the songstress on stage at her tour stop in Amsterdam.

At a performance last month, Scott also teased a new collab with Bad Bunny, playing a snippet of the unreleased track at a Monaco club. This left listeners thinking that the Puerto Rican rapper may appear on UTOPIA. Fans also suspect that The Weeknd could be featured on the upcoming album. Last month, he shared photos alongside a security guard cuffed to the UTOPIA briefcase. Scott and the briefcase also made appearances at the premiere of The Weeknd’s series, The Idol, at Cannes Film Festival.

The rapper lined up with various members of his security team, emulating the LP’s artwork. One member of the security team even carried the famous UTOPIA briefcase in the photos, which Scott has been using to continually tease his highly-anticipated upcoming album.

He’s been spotted various times with the briefcase in tow. Recently, behind-the-scenes photos from SZA’s “SOS” tour that feature the briefcase were unveiled. A member of Scott’s security team sat with the briefcase handcuffed to him, while Scott was pictured wearing SZA merch. He also brought it with him to the Cannes Film Festival last month. Now, he’s brought the briefcase backstage on SZA’s “SOS” tour. New photos show the artist rocking a SZA t-shirt, while his security sits handcuffed to the famous briefcase.
