Keke Palmer Previews New Music in the Studio with DaniLeigh

Keke Palmer Announces 'Big Boss' Tour Starting This September

Keke Palmer is moving on too! After her boyfriend stated he is moving past their relationship, Keke Palmer hit the studio to preview new music. The Shade Room captured a preview of what’s in Keke’s music bag, and DaniLeigh joined her.

It’s a wrap for Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson‘s relationship. With Palmer’s appearance in Usher’s “Boyfriend” video moving across the timeline, a source of Jackson’s relayed to PEOPLE that the actor is moving on.

“He’s moved on,” the insider said. The insider also notes Jackson is looking to focus on his acting career and will continue to be a good father, “You don’t have to be in the same household to be good parents.”

The news comes as the “Boyfriend” video is trending online. Earlier this summer, Jackson spoke against a viral moment showing Palmer enjoying Usher’s residency. Jackson took offense to the moment and even blasted Palmer for her dress.

Usher Reminds Us He’s The Internet’s “Boyfriend” On Our “R&B Season” Update

Our R&B Season playlist highlights no shortage of male vocalists who are known specifically for making the ladies swoon. Since he began his Las Vegas Residency, however, Usher is notably among the best at taking on his role as a heartthrob. Over the past few months, we’ve seen him serenading the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kimora Lee Simmons, Saweetie, and Keke Palmer. It was the latter’s trip to Sin City that finally landed the Southern singer the label of “domestic terrorist” as his flirtatious antics caused a rift between the True Jackson VP actress and her baby daddy, Darius Jackson. At this time, the status of Palmer’s relationship remains unknown. However, she did team up with Usher earlier this week for his “Boyfriend” music video, causing many to speculate that she’s single again.

Elsewhere on today’s update comes a collab from Ciara’s CiCi EP – “Forever” with Lil Baby. The short and sweet project came along with big news from the Atlanta-based entertainer – she and Russell Wilson are expecting their third child together. Snoh Aalegra continued her hot streak of singles with “Wait A Little Longer,” and 333 hitmaker Tinashe continues to impress us with her work as well. The latter shared “Needs,” following last month’s “Talk To Me Nice.”

HNHH R&B Season Playlist

Lil Wayne doesn’t often appear on R&B Season, but we would be remiss not to put you on to his latest joint effort. The Young Money boss joined forces with Jon Batiste recently on “Uneasy,” a soulful song that’s got social media talking. To close out today’s female-forward round-up we suggest you stream Jamila Woods’ beautiful “Boomerang” when you have a moment during your Self Care Sunday activities.

Usher Announces Final Dates for His Las Vegas Residency

If you plan to see Usher before his residency closes in Las Vegas, you have until December. The R&B legend hit Instagram and revealed the final days of his extended stay at the Park MGM in Las Vegas will begin on Nov. 3 and wrap on Dec. 2.

“By popular demand I’ve just added the Final Shows of My Way The Vegas Residency this November & December at Dolby Live at Park MGM! Tickets on sale Friday, August 25 at 10 AM PT.,” Usher wrote.

Usher has dropped a new single from his highly anticipated ninth album. The song “Boyfriend” is accompanied by a captivating video featuring Emmy Award-winning entertainer Keke Palmer. This release follows Usher’s recent hit “Good Good,” featuring 21 Savage and Summer Walker, which rocketed to the top of Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales Chart upon debut.

The music video for “Boyfriend” made its stunning debut on the iconic Paramount Times Square Billboards, with support from MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop, BET Soul, and BET Jams, ensuring a grand reception among fans.

Presented through mega, the music collective founded by Usher and L.A. Reid in collaboration with gamma, a visionary multimedia platform led by CEO Larry Jackson and President Ike Youssef, “Boyfriend” marks a promising new direction for Usher. Usher, Apparently Looking To Spark Debates, Made Three Picks For The Greatest Rappers Of All Time

The debate over the best rappers of all time is always going on. Lil Wayne named Jay-Z, Biggie, and Gucci Mane. Freddie Gibbs listed Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Pusha T. Now Usher is offering his insight.

Following his new single “Boyfriend” with Keke Palmer, he made an appearance on the Capital Xtra radio show with Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie. To celebrate 50 years of hip hop, he answered who he thinks are the greatest rappers of all time, according to HotNewHipHop.

“The Notorious B.I.G., I would also say Eminem,” Usher said. “In terms of rapport and in terms of just swag. You put on Biggie’s verses and ’till this day they still hit as if they were just created today. His pocket, his metaphors, his storytelling, just so vivid, and just understanding what the culture is.”

“They haven’t really moved much more from what he was talking about back then, that lets you know that he was way ahead,” he added. “In terms of one of the fastest and most credible rappers, I’d say Busta Rhymes.”

Today (August 17), Usher also announced more dates of Usher: My Way The Vegas Residency. It began in July 2022 and the added dates are November 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 22, 24, 25, 29 and December 1 and 2, 2023.

When Does Usher’s Las Vegas Residency End?

Usher’s Las Vegas residency has turned out to be quite eventful, but all good things must come to an end eventually. Today it was announced that Usher’s residency only has 12 more shows left. The newly announced final dates are:

November 2023: 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 22, 24, 25, 29
December 2023: 1, 2

My Way The Vegas Residency generated a flurry of headlines earlier this year when the star serenaded actress/singer Keke Palmer during a show in July. Internet personality Darius Jackson, aka Darius Daulton, the father of Palmer’s son, responded poorly, tweeting, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom.” Elaborating on his thoughts, he argued, “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”

Unfortunately for him, though, very few folks agreed with him, and Palmer — after apparently breaking up with him for the public embarrassment — poked fun at the incident multiple times. After creating merch addressing it, she teamed up with Usher in the video for “Boyfriend,” in which Usher sings, “Somеbody said that your boyfriend’s lookin’ for me / Oh, that’s cool, that’s cool / Well he should know I’m pretty easy to find / Just look for me wherever he sees you.”

Funnily enough, the whole situation seemed to put a stop to Usher’s serenades — at least, of his most famous guests. While Saweetie kept her cool during their session, Winnie Harlow straight up avoided him by hopping into her boyfriend’s lap. We’ll see if Usher’s show sparks anymore controversy before December 2.

Usher’s Well-Beloved And Slightly Controversial Las Vegas Residency Will Close Its Curtains Before 2024

I don’t think Las Vegas residencies work this way, but Keke Palmer deserves royalties for Usher’s Usher: My Way The Vegas Residency. We lost the plot in the best way possible. What started as a semi-innocent residency in July 2022 has morphed into “a pop moment” of the utmost petty this summer.

If you haven’t been paying attention, Palmer attended Usher’s Vegas show in an outfit that her then-boyfriend, Darius Jackson, deemed inappropriate for a mother to wear. (Palmer and Jackson welcomed a son in February.) Palmer defended her right to have fun in true boss fashion, and this week, she and Usher collaborated on a single aptly titled “Boyfriend.”

On Thursday morning, August 17, Usher confirmed that there will be several more opportunities for him to seductively serenade celebrities (or anyone) by announcing the final 12 dates of My Way The Vegas Residency. Per a press release, the added dates are November 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 22, 24, 25, 29 and December 1 and 2, 2023.

There will be a pre-sale for Citi cardmembers beginning on Friday, August 18, at 10 a.m. PST and lasting through Thursday, August 24 at 10 p.m. PST. Fans can also gain access to the pre-sale by following this link.

Separately, members of MGM Rewards, MGM Resorts International’s loyalty program, Live Nation, and Ticketmaster will have access to a pre-sale from Monday, August 21 at 10 a.m. PST to August 24 at 10 p.m. PST. The public sale is slated for Friday, August 25 at 10 a.m. PST.

The press release additionally states that “limited tickets” are still available for previously scheduled residency shows on October 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, and 28. Tickets begin at $80.09 (before taxes and fees), and VIP meet-and-greet packages are available for purchase. Find more information here.

Keke Palmer Reminisces About Auditioning For One Of Usher’s First Movies In A Message About Their New ‘Boyfriend’ Video

A month and change after Usher and Keke Palmer set the internet on fire in Las Vegas, they linked up for Usher’s new “Boyfriend” video today (August 16). In light of that, Palmer took a minute to heap some praise onto Usher, who, like many of her peers, saw him as an idol during her childhood (and also still).

Shortly after the video was released, Palmer tweeted, “Usher! I remember when I was 12 and auditioned for ‘In The Mix’ [crying laughing emoji] You have been killing it all my life. As a true lover of the arts, your talent and craftsmanship are a rare combination that I aspire to achieve as a performer. You are a living legend who is worthy of awe! Thank you for encouraging me and seeing me as the entertainer I am. I know I’m a gUrL but when I watched your videos, I never wanted to be the girl in them, I wanted to be YOU. Thank you for making a dream come true.”

History has shown that Palmer ended up doing fine without landing that role in In The Mix, a 2005 film that was one of Usher’s first leading roles as an actor. In fact, when she was 12, Palmer had her highly praised breakout role starring in the 2006 movie Akeelah And The Bee. In The Mix, meanwhile, was far from a critical hit.

Are Keke Palmer & Darius Jackson Still Together?

It’s been just a few weeks after Keke Palmer’s then-boyfriend, Darius Jackson, criticized her online for what she wore to an Usher concert in Las Vegas.

“It’s the outfit tho,” he tweeted at the time. “You a mom.” After getting hate from the internet and Palmer’s fans, he quickly deleted his account.

However, Palmer has not backed down from throwing some jabs his way, with her new appearance in Usher’s video for his song, fittingly titled “Boyfriend,” dropping today.

In the video, she is in bed and takes a call. “Dammit, I missed the show! Shit, I’m so tired…” Palmer says before winking at the camera. “I’m a mother after all.”

“Somebody said that your boyfriend’s looking for me / Oh that’s cool,” Usher also points out in the song.

Because of this, many might have wondered if the two were still together.

As for Jackson, he has “moved on” according to People Magazine. He also apparently wants to become an actor. The two are still working on raising their child, Leodis, who was born in February — but with new methods.

“You don’t have to be in the same household to be good parents,” the source also told the publication about how Palmer and Jackson are co-parenting.

Darius Jackson Moving On From Keke Palmer After Usher Drama

It was just a few months ago that everything was fine for Darius Jackson and Keke Palmer. The pair have a child together and seemed like all was going very well, until Keke attended an Usher concert. The viral drama that resulted from her revealing dress got everyone’s attention and spawned weeks’ worth of news. Since then, both Jackson and Palmer have been non-committal in their answers whenever the drama comes up in interviews. But now a new People magazine report is claiming that Jackson has moved on.

“Darius is focused on an acting career and wants to put the drama behind him,” a source close to Jackson told People. In regards to the pair’s child together, it seems like there will still be a commitment to co-parenting. “You don’t have to be in the same household to be good parents,” a source close to Jackson also said. Jackson hasn’t spoken publicly much about the drama but fans did find a recording of him from before it happened pretty interesting. In the clip, he claims that he holds Palmer to a “perfect standard” something that felt extra fitting in light of his critique of her outfit choice.

Darius Jackson And Keke Palmer May Be Done

For her part, Keke Palmer hasn’t been necessarily quiet about the drama. Just today she starred in a music video for Usher’s new song “Boyfriend.” The track and video are both full of obvious references to the drama. From the hook making reference to a seemingly analogous situation to the fact that the music video also takes place in Vegas, it isn’t particularly subtle.

Fan response to the video has been divided just like the response to the original story. Many are calling the move corny and too on the nose. while others think it definitively ended the beef in Palmer’s favor. What do you think of Darius Jackson reportedly moving on from Keke Palmer?
