Usher unveiled the tracklist for his upcoming album, Coming Home — and fans are extremely excited. Spanning 20 songs, Usher will also be collaborating with a ton of artists. Burna Boy will help open the record as a feature on the title track, and then, Summer Walker and 21 Savage will follow it up on “Good Good.”

It also is a great day for BTS fans, as Jung Kook will appear on Usher’s remix of “Standing Next To You” — the final track of the album.

Fans will get to hear Usher’s album just two days before he takes the stage of Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium to deliver his Super Bowl Halftime Show — making it genius timing to prepare the release. And hey, maybe even some of these artists could join him there, who knows.

Super Bowl LVIII is just weeks away, which means so is Usher’s Halftime Show performance. While fans speculate about Usher’s potential set (and possible guest stars) and marvel over his spartan diet, Usher and the NFL have announced an exclusive merch collection commemorating the impending performance, including pieces from brands like Mitchell & Ness, New Era, Riddell, and Wilson Sporting Goods.

According to a press release, the collection will include Mitchell & Ness jerseys, hoodies, jackets, and t-shirts, New Era headwear designed by Just Don, Riddell helmets, and a limited-edition Wilson football, all emblazoned with Usher’s signature “U” logo in a purple-and-pink colorway chosen specifically for Super Bowl LVIII.

You can purchase items from the collection at Super Bowl Experience in Las Vegas, or on the brands’ respective websites, beginning on February 7. You can also check out NFLshop.com/USHER to sign up to be notified when the collection goes live. See below for photos.

In his statement about the collection, Usher said, “I can’t wait to hit the stage at the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show for a 30-year celebration of my music in Las Vegas. There is no better way to get fans pumped about the performance than with a one-of-a-kind merchandise collaboration with the NFL, with designs that embody my style. I hope to see all my fans decked out in pieces from the collection.”

Will Taylor Swift Perform With Usher At The 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Finally, the 2024 Super Bowl match-up has been set, as the San Francisco 49ers will take on Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs, on February 11 in Las Vegas.

Taylor Swift hasn’t confirmed if she’ll be in attendance; She has an Eras Tour concert in Tokyo the day before, but it’s actually possible to make it back to the States for the game. So, Swifties might be wondering:

Will Taylor Swift Perform With Usher At The 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show?

It appears that she won’t.

TMZ, citing “sources with direct knowledge,” reports, “Not only is Taylor not going to pick up a microphone to croon a tune … but we’re hearing there’s no chance T-Swift will go anywhere near the stage, let alone step onto it. In other words, our sources say there are zero plans to have her participate in the Super Bowl whatsoever — outside of her just being there as a fan — and Usher is going to have the spotlight all to himself in terms of live entertainment that day.”

Given that Usher has been planning his show for months, and that Swift probably wasn’t sure she’d be Super Bowl-bound until just a few days ago, it makes that she’s not involved. While Kelce playing in the Super Bowl and Swift performing at the halftime show would have been one of the biggest couple flexes ever, it looks like that’s just not going to happen this year.

Mary J. Blige Says Her Lover & Friends Fest Inclusion Was A Mistake

In a surprising turn of events, Mary J. Blige has found herself in the midst of a festival fiasco as she expresses regret over her inclusion in the lineup for this year’s highly anticipated Lovers & Friends festival in Las Vegas scheduled for May 4. The R&B icon took to Instagram on Thursday (Jan. 25) to clarify that her name being on the star-studded bill was, in fact, a mistake. Despite the overwhelming flood of kind words and excitement from fans following the festival announcement, Blige revealed in an Instagram story, “Unfortunately my inclusion was an error as I will be busy in preparation for my Strength of a Woman Summit just one week later!”

Moreover, she went on to express gratitude for the enthusiastic response, stating, “I have the greatest fans in the world and can’t wait to see you in New York in a few short months!” Blige had recently unveiled the sizzle reel for the upcoming Strength of a Woman Summit, generating anticipation for the event. However, specific details regarding dates and the lineup for this year’s summit are yet to be disclosed, leaving fans eager for more information. As fans eagerly awaited her performance at Lovers & Friends, it appears that Blige’s festival plans clash with her commitment to the Strength of a Woman Summit. Despite her attempts to rectify the error, a spokesperson for Lovers & Friends, at press time, had not responded to Billboard’s request for comment on Blige’s statement.

Mary J Blige Will Not Be At Lovers & Friends

Sources close to the acclaimed artist informed Billboard that Blige’s representatives have diligently sought the removal of her name from the festival’s promotional materials over the past 24 hours, yet their efforts have been in vain, creating a discordant note in the festival’s lead-up. The festival, set to unfold on May 24 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, boasts an impressive lineup featuring Janet Jackson, Usher (performing “Confessions”), Backstreet Boys, Lil Wayne (performing Tha Carter III), Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Nelly Furtado, Nas, Ludacris, Ciara, Nelly, and many more.

However, Mary J. Blige‘s unexpected withdrawal from the festival adds a layer of intrigue to the event, leaving fans and industry insiders curious about the backstage dynamics and the potential impact on the festival’s overall atmosphere. As the saga unfolds, the festival organizers’ response and any potential adjustments to the lineup will be closely watched by fans eagerly anticipating what promises to be a monumental event. Mary J. Blige’s festival misstep adds a surprising twist to the narrative, making her absence a point of conversation leading up to the highly awaited Lovers & Friends festival in Las Vegas.

How Long Is The Lovers & Friends 2024 Festival?

Earlier this week, Usher announced the return of his nostalgia-packed festival, Lovers & Friends, bringing both excitement and confusion from fans of turn-of-the-millennium hip-hop and R&B. Both emotions were largely reactions to the same thing: The sheer number of artists listed on the flyer, from headliners Backstreet Boys, Janet Jackson, and Snoop Dogg to the one-hit-wonders hovering near the bottom of the list like Lumidee, J-Kwon, and Iyaz.

On one hand, there wer enough to justify the price of the ticket (and standing up for hours on end) for the millennials who came of age during the 2000s, but on the other, there are so many names, it’s hard to believe that they would all fit in just one day when the festival returns to Las Vegas Festival Grounds on May 4. However, that certainly seems to be what the organizers will attempt to do, as the festival’s flyer only advertises a one-day event.

This reflects the flyer for the original event way back in 2020, when dozens of names were stuffed onto the flyer. However, after the initial confusion about who all was actually booked was cleared up, the festival added a second day, allowing for some adjustments to the lineup, and presumably, more equitable distribution of time slots. However, as with so many other events that year, Lovers & Friends was postponed, then moved to Las Vegas when it finally returned in 2022.

For those last two iterations, it remained a one-day festival, with last year’s concert headlined by Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, and Pitbull. So, it stands to reason that it will continue to be a one-day festival, but as the lineup continues to expand year after year, its fans would almost certainly love to see it expand once again to accommodate all those early-aughts favorites. T-Pain Said He Nearly Had A Song With Michael Jackson And Usher, But One Person Ruined Everything

t-pain

The music industry is full of stories of near-misses and “almost weres.” It’s the nature of the business — especially for most of its history, when things had to be done without the benefit of advanced computers and high-speed internet — that things get lost, tapes get damaged, calls get missed, and egos clash, resulting in some fascinating projects behing scrapped or forgotten.

In the case of T-Pain missing out on his chance to collaborate with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, the Tallahassee native had a great story for his fans — although it has a miserable ending for Pain himself. During a recent livestream that he clipped and shared to other social media, T-Pain remembered how his opportunity to work with MJ and Usher on a song during his career peak was derailed by an overzealous collaborator.

Before playing a snippet of the song for his viewers, he prefaced it with the story of why it was never released. “We are about to listen to a song that I wrote and produced that was meant for me, Usher, and Michael Jackson,” he said. “And then the person that was in charge of doing the references and the person that sang it got too excited and was like, ‘N****, I’m on a song with Michael Jackson and Usher and T-Pain!’ And then he released it and then Michael Jackson was like, ‘Nah, never mind. I don’t wanna do it anymore.’ Yeah, that pissed me off. Not gonna lie to ya.”

Talk about “pain.” Fortunately, T-Pain’s got a list of collaborators about a mile long — and that’s before you get to all the people he accidentally ghosted that time — so he still did okay. He’s also experiencing something like his fourth career resurgence thanks to a live performance of his 2023 covers album that keeps going viral and drawing attention from artists like Ozzy Osbourne. While it probably doesn’t completely make up for missing out on working with one legend, T-Pain keeps pumping out hits and becoming one in his own right. Check out the video of T-Pain telling the story below.
