Wizkid Rants About Not Being An Afrobeats Artist While Updating On Next Album

Wizkid just finished his next album, as he let fans know on Friday (March 15) via the Instagram social media platform. But apparently, before this new phase of his career begins, he wants to set the record straight on some important matters concerning his artistry and his image. “Album done! [eagle emoji] See you soon b***hes!” the “Loju” singer began. “And pls Abeg if u like Pakurumo wizkid don’t download this new album… in fact delete me from ur playlist and your life! [heart emoji] [eagle emoji] And if u like afrobeats pls don’t download my album! I am not a f***ing afrobeats artiste! Don’t call me that h*e! I am not Afro anything b***h!”

Overall, there were a lot of divided reactions to this rant online, with some criticizing his assessment and others defending his perspective. On one hand, the Nigerian superstar shouldn’t be boxed into a single genre or style, and not all of the music he makes necessarily falls under the umbrella of Afrobeats. On the other, Wizkid is definitely one of the biggest names associated (however lightly) with the genre. After all, he became the first African artist to get three platinum songs, and folks will immediately tie his success into that of the larger genre, even if simply calling him an Afrobeats artist might not accurately convey the full picture of his artistry right now.

Whether or not you agree with this rant, it’s hard to deny all the work the 33-year-old has put in to expand his artistry beyond what the market pushed onto him. In fact, plenty of business executives, industry workers, and fellow artists have tried to take credit for the growing popularity of African artists worldwide. But none of that matters without the artists themselves. As such, Wizkid is free to make whatever kind of music he wants and define how he wants the music world to perceive and celebrate him.

Meanwhile, what do you think about these comments and assessments, especially with the debate around them in mind? Is the More Love, Less Ego unquestionably an “Afrobeats” artist? However you may feel, let us know in the comments section down below. Also, stay logged into HNHH for the latest news and more updates on Wizkid.

Trippie Redd Teases Forthcoming “LIFE’S A TRIP 2” With “LWRW”

Canton, Ohio multi-hyphenate Trippie Redd is certified hitmaker. We have seen it time and time again over the course of his prolific career. He is never afraid to experiment and has pretty impressive range in general. However, it seems some of that magic has been a little trickier to recapture over the last couple of years or so. While there are some quality tracks sprinkled throughout his past several releases, the consistency looks to have faltered.

Trippie Redd is looking to bring back that hype with a new single “LWRW.” It will take about a couple of weeks to see if this effort resonates. However, for us, it comes across as a little to repetitive. We never like saying any music is mediocre, but it just falls a little flat.

It is not a terrible track by any means. But, it is passable at best. But, at least “LWRW” is leading up to something larger. According to Genius, this track is going to be a single for follow-up to LIFE’S A TRIP, his fan-favorite 2018 record. He shared this news on his Instagram back in early December in a now-deleted post with the caption, “Life’s a Trip 2 Every last song will be recorded on a yacht. Taking trips for this ! gotta see the world and work.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “LWRW,” by Trippie Redd? Is this one of his strongest tracks in recent memory, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Kanye West’s Friend Says Rapper Is Going All In For North West’s Debut Album

It seems kids of famous artists are taking up after their parents and looking to pursue music in one way or another more often. Drake’s son Adonis is one of the biggest examples, dropping his adorable freestyle “My Man.” Of course, we cannot forget North West, who had a major contribution to Kanye West’s album VULTURES 1 with “TALKING.” Her memorable performance made the track one of the best on the record. While she still has a lot of growing to do, it is clear she has some real talent. That is what Kanye’s friend, Justin Laboy, believes as well as he hyped up North West’s debut album.

Of course, Ye’s oldest child made the major announcement during the listening event in Phoenix a couple of days ago. It sent the internet into a frenzy, especially after she said the name of it will be Elementary School Dropout, evoking her father’s debut. Like her dad, she has developed a serious fascination with music. “She just naturally loves it,” said Laboy, who was interviewed by TMZ, according to AllHipHop.

North West’s Debut Album Has A Lot Of Support

In his chat with the media powerhouse, Laboy revealed that Kanye is really doing all that he can to ensure this project sounds great. “Everybody’s excited. Ye’s putting everything, all chips in on her – production, the best engineers. I think she’s got it.” Additionally, he let slip about who would be on North West’s tape. According to him, some of her friends have already recorded their vocals and North is coming up with at least 10 freestyles a day.

What are your thoughts on Kanye West’s friend saying North West’s debut album is getting the best producers and engineers? Are you buying into the hype for Elementary School Dropout, why or why not? Rich The Kid Reveals The Roles For Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign On Upcoming LP “Life’s A Gamble”

Rich The Kid has been laying low for the majority of these last couple of years. However, 2024 appears to be the year that we get to hear more from the Queens, New York native. The big reason for that is his guest appearance on Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES banger “CARNIVAL.” It is has become one of the biggest tracks in hip-hop, but also in general. The song just went number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and it still sits atop the TikTok Top 50 as well.

However, Rich The Kid has plenty more going on than just that one track. Fairly soon, he will be returning with his first solo record in four years. Life’s a Gamble is expected sometime this spring and there are lots of rumors swirling around who will be featured on it. But, according to HipHopDX, we can now officially say Rich The Kid will be working with Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign in some shape or form.

It is clear that Will Smith’s kids have been inspired to be multi-talented artists. of course, we all know how diversely gifted the famed actor and musician is. But, Jaden and WILLOW have certainly proven to be talented in their own respective ways as well. Both of them have never pigeonholed themselves to one genre, especially WILLOW. Her career has seen take on many different forms of pop music. Her evolution continues on this newest single “symptom of life.”

Since 2020, the 23-year-old multi-talent had been exploring pop punk and rock. In that three-year window, she put out three albums, THE ANXIETY, lately I feel EVERYTHING, and <COPINGMECHANISM>. Beyonce Seemingly Reveals Title Of New Album As Pre-Sale & Merch Bundles Go Live

The Beyhive is buzzing yet again and there is a major reason for that. On Beyonce’s latest Instagram story post, she attached a link to a pre-sale on her website. That will lead you to some merch bundles and physical album copies for her hyped-up follow-up to RENAISSANCE. Previously known simply as ACT II, that turned out be a placeholder for the new title. The new moniker for this sequel for Beyonce will be COWBOY CARTER. Of course, the R&B superstar gave us a clear-cut look at the direction she was going for with “16 CARRIAGES” and “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” back in early February. Both tracks pay homage to her Southern roots, evoking sounds of bluegrass and country.

Fans were also very pleased with the tracks, and it looks like Beyonce will have another massive record on her hands with COWBOY CARTER. As for the items available for purchase, she has included t-shirts, vinyls, and CDs. There are two shirts and they will come in a box with a red or black CD that will include a bonus track. Unfortunately for vinyl buyers, there will be no additional cuts added, but there are four different colors.

However, this is not where the hype train stops for the underrated rapper. Sandman’s team has also revealed that two other albums are on the way. Those will be Rich II and Rich III, and they were hinted at in the music video for “The Riches.” Lastly, the veteran will be hitting the road for a spring U.S. tour.

Lil Skies Takes A Step Back On “DEATH”

Lil Skies’ career got off to a hot start in the late 2010s with catchy and melodic trap bangers about love and relationships. Of course, his biggest hits were “Nowadays” and “Red Roses” with Landon Cube. That 2017 project Life of a Dark Rose, really put a lot of people on and it flashed a lot of potential. However, since his 2019 tape Shelby, things just have not been the same. “DEATH” by Lil Skies is another unfortunate case.

What makes this even more hard to digest is that this single will be landing on a new record soon. The rumor around town is that Out Your Body Music is supposed to hit streaming services before the end of March. Up until this point, the tracks that are teasing Lil Skies’ fourth tape have not been any more promising. We can appreciate him trying a new sound and cadence, but it just does not sound pleasing to our ears.

Listen To “DEATH” By Lil Skies

For example, his last outing, “THOUSANDS” sees the rapper and singer drowning in reverb and auto tune. While he has always been using it, the effects were more of an enhancement rather than a detriment. “DEATH” features a clunky chorus and video game-like beat that is super redundant and gets stale fast. It does not feel good saying these things about Skies’ music, so hopefully better things await when his LP drops.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “DEATH,” by Lil Skies? Is this one of his strongest tracks lately, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Does this get you pumped for his next project Out Your Body Music? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section.
