JID Reassures That His Collab Album With Metro Boomin Is Coming: “It’s Just About Making It Right”

JID and Metro Boomin are two of hip-hop’s most in-demand artists right now without question. Both have put together some of the best projects, especially in the mainstream, through the halfway mark of the 2020 decade. For the superstar producer, you have him and 21 Savage’s SAVAGE MODE II and HEROES & VILLAINS. Additionally, WE DON’T TRUST YOU and its quick follow-up WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU are some of the biggest of 2024, partially due to their fueling of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef. For JID, it is not as expansive of a catalog. However, The Forever Story is arguably the most complete body of work over the last four years.

These reasons are why it was such a huge deal when they revealed that they were in the process of cooking up a collaboration project back in March of 2023. Metro Boomin’s tweet basically set hip-hop Twitter ablaze, “Got a lot of new music coming but when me and @JIDsv drop 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😵‍💫”. JID then confirmed that it was an album and not just a single after one user originally claimed, “Metro Boomin Teases His Song With JID”. Since that bombshell, both have been repeatedly asked if it still in the works.

JID And Metro Boomin Are Hard At Work

Each and every time, both of them have reassured fans and interviewers that they are still on course to get this done. JID did more of the same after a recent interview. “We’re working on that project every single day… We have so much music, it’s just about making it right… “It’s happening for sure”, JID clarified. He also vaguely hinted that he has been working on a ton of other things right now too, so who knows what that could mean. The only question is now, “when is the Metro tape happening?”. The Georgia rapper has previously not wanted to give anyone false on hope on that detail. We would not be surprised if it is not until later this year or maybe early 2025. Metro also recently just revealed that him and NAV are cheffing something up too, so no one should be too optimistic as of now.

What are your thoughts on JID claiming that his album with Metro Boomin is still on the way? Will this be one of the best trap tapes of all time when it drops? When do you see them dropping this and why? Do you want to see them grab any features for it? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Logic Reveals The Drop Date & Tracklist For Sought After LP “Ultra 85”

Prolific Maryland rapper Logic is finally ready to unleash Ultra 85 and it is coming very soon. According to the NFR Podcast‘s X account, the album will release on August 9th and possess 20 tracks. Fans of his know that he has already previewed the project three times over the last five months. Logic has dropped “Fear”, “44ever”, and “Deja Vu”, which is the most recent of the trio. According to Genius, this will supposedly be the veteran’s final album, but we know happened after No Pressure in 2020. He went on to release several fan-fare mixtapes and singles, so who really knows what is in store Logic following this.

Just like his future, the chance of Ultra 85 existing was also in limbo for many years. Some of his fans have even claimed that they have been waiting on this since the mid 2010s. With Logic being so hard to read overall, it is no surprise that this project has taken so long to come to fruition. If this indeed his going away gift to his fans, then we hope it will be one of his best yet. For the speedy lyricist, Ultra 85 is supposedly also going to be the conclusion to the storyline on 2017’s Everybody.

Logic Finally Has Concrete Details For Ultra 85

If you remember, it was about how Atom, voiced by BigVon, dies in a car crash and is reincarnated by God, played by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Everyone else also receives the same treatment. Each song is every perspective that Atom has lived through, which ties into the themes of Everybody, which is Logic’s experiences of being black and white. It is something that has divided listeners over the years, but time and time again, people still come back to his music. A lot more should do the exact same for Ultra 85 as well.

What are your thoughts on Logic releasing Ultra 85 on August 9th? Are you still ready to listen to this album, why or why not? Does this have the chance to be his greatest project based on all the information we have? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Cardi B is back to teasing her fans with some new music on social media as they eagerly await her sophomore LP. The Bronx, New Yorker has been taking her sweet time since the release of her GRAMMY-winning debut full of hits, Invasion of Privacy, back in 2018. However, even with it being over six years in between projects, she still has incredible pull. Cardi B’s last few solo singles such as “Enough (Miami)”, “Like What (Freestyle)”, “Bongos”, and “Hot S***” all have over 24 million streams each. Additionally, he influence is still there, as she recently won the Hollywood Unlocked Inspiration Award. Overall, the details on the hitmaker’s next album are extremely muddy.

All we can really assume right now is that those songs we mentioned are potential tracks for the project. We have no word on an artwork, features, a title, and most importantly, a release date. For now, fans of Cardi B are going to have to continue to sit around and wait patiently, although that is already highly unlikely. In fact, viewers of the 2024 BET Awards were hopelessly searching for any sort of clues about the tape. Cardi wore a bedazzled jersey with the number “11” on it and some were speculating that it could mean that CB2 is dropping in November on the 11th day of a random month.

The Kid LAROI Pays Homage To Early 2000s Pop Hits With “GIRLS”

The Kid LAROI is rocking frosted tips and staring daggers in the music video for “GIRLS”. If those two things do not scream 2000s to you, then we do not know what to tell you. The Australian multi-genre superstar is paying homage to a time in music that was dominated by acts like NSYNC, Christina Aguilera, and more. Overall, “GIRLS” is a fun summertime radio bop about being the man all the ladies want. The instrumental is quite addicting and definitely draws from that era. Helping that come to live is a healthy list of producers, including current pop/alternative star, Jon Bellion.

LAROI’s performance is also very reminiscent of that time, as her rocks a more lowkey and monotone delivery. It sounds quite similar to something Jack Harlow would lay down on a track. Speaking of which, fans on The KID LAROI’s Instagram have since been demanding Harlow hop on a remix. It would be a great match, as the Kentucky rapper’s voice would fit perfectly over this mellow production. People are also asking for his new girlfriend and fellow pop sensation Tate McRae to join him for a new version of “GIRLS”. We will have to wait and see about either of those possibilities, but LAROI should look into that. The single is already trending on YouTube, as it has over one million views so far.

BLK ODYSSY & Joey Bada$$ Fawn Over A Dream Lady On “STANK ROSE”

BLK ODYSSY and Joey Badas$$ are falling hard for a woman on their first-ever song together, “STANK ROSE”. This is the fourth single for the New Jersey born singer/songwriter’s third album, 1-800 FANTASY. The project will hit streaming platforms on July 19 and will contain 13 songs. Only three of them will contain features, and those guests additionally include Wiz Khalifa and Harry Edohoukwa. The Austin, Texas based artist is known for his smooth and lowkey delivery over alternative production.

That is what BLK ODYSSY is providing on “STANK ROSE”. Him and Joey are absolutely smitten for a woman who does not really know who they are. However, the two genre-bending artists are tossing and turning every night just thinking about her. The songwriting is a major highlight here, especially on Joey’s part. It makes sense, though, as the New Yorker is well versed in crafting R&B-like bars. You really get the feeling that he has a lot of thoughts running through his head about he can get her to notice him. BLK ODYSSY is no slouch either, delivering a captivating and heartbreaking performance. “STANK ROSE” is definitely worth a spin, and it should be an indicator that great things are coming on 1-800 FANTASY.

The Fugees Are Reportedly Working On A New Album

There are not many hip-hop collectives that you can rank above the Fugees. Even with their short run as a group, the amount of creative talent between Wyclef Jean, Pras Mitchell, and Ms. Lauryn Hill is nearly unmatched. They left an indelible mark on the community through the effortless blending of other genres while also being lyrically sound. The Score is recognized as an essential 1990s record, but also a must-listen for any fan of rap. They laid down so many great tracks like “Killing Me Softly With His Song”, “Ready or Not”, and “Fu-Gee-La”. Now, it seems the Fugees are looking to craft more unforgettable tracks, as they are reportedly working on a new album.

According to an undisclosed source with Page Six, the three-headed monster is ready to make a comeback after 28 years. Following their unfortunate split, Hill, Jean, and Pras all went on to forge their own paths. Only one of them extended beyond the 90s decade, and the other two dropped just one record in 1998. But as of late the Fugees have been performing more frequently under their stage name.

According to Hollywood Unlocked, it was around this time last year that they performed at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. Additionally, the Fugees made appearances at the Global Citizen’s Festival in Central Park and then the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, later that same year. Now, pretty soon, Hill and the gang are going to be hitting the stage on 21 separate occasions. In August, the tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Miseducation is restarting after Hill was forced to cancel her run last year due to a serious vocal strain. Her and the guys will be traveling across the United States as well as Europe. May be that will be the time they record some new music together?

What are your thoughts on The Fugees reportedly working on a new album? How soon do you think this will drop and why? Where do you rank them all time in terms of rap groups? Should it be a project with no features, or should they include some? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Skepta Hops On The Sexy Drill Wave With R2R MOE-Assisted Single “Miss Independent”

Skepta is one of the UK grime’s most beloved figures and for good reason. The Tottenham rapper and DJ’s scope extends past hometown, as he immensely popular over here in the States. He really is one of the leaders when it comes to bringing that sound to various audio markets. It is why he has so many listeners eager to get their hands on upcoming seventh studio album, Knife And Fork. It is hopefully coming soon, as Skepta is back with its fourth single, “Miss Independent”.

Big Smoke began the rollout in late January with “Jangrova”. It remains to be a rewarding listen and it is equal parts exhilarating and manic. Skepta dropped it alongside actor Idris Elba, ODUMODUBLVCK, and Tribal Mark. Then, the veteran would give us the more by-the-numbers but still engaging, “Gas Me Up (Diligent)”. The track’s cover art got the influential figure in some hot water for its assumed callback to The Holocaust. Finally, Skepta, Portable, and JAE5 would merge for an Afrobeats rhythm on “Tony Montana”.

This brings us to “Miss Independent”, the most love-centric and vulnerable song yet. It features R2R MOE, a New York drill artist who is a sexy drill advocate. It is clear that Skepta is going to give fans a bevy of soundscapes on Knife And Fork, as he adopts the drill subgenre taking the industry by storm. The production feels very Cash Cobain-esque. Instead, he is nowhere to be found here. PoWR Trav handles the instrumental and incorporates a stunning sample into the mix. See how Skepta fares on “Miss Independent” with the music video link below.

Trippie Redd Sports A Heavy Metal Aesthetic On Hellish Single “Bando Kid”

Trippie Redd is riding off the momentum from his collaborative genre : sadboy EP with fellow Ohioan mgk with “Bando Kid”. Unfortunately, the wave is not all that substantial, as lot of fans were pretty disappointed in the final product. Additionally, his solo stuff as of late is not generating the same amount of hype lately, too. “LWRW” (Left Wrist Right Wrist), as well as his last three projects came and went for a lot of folks. However, Trippie Redd might be drawing some people back in with “Bando Kid”.

This track, along with “LWRW” figure to make the cut for LIFE’S A TRIP 2. Yes, a sequel to his well-received debut album in 2018 is possibly coming this year. Trippie is not ready to reveal all of the important details yet, but he is certainly working toward it. In a now deleted Instagram post near the release of Saint Michael EP, the emo rapper revealed that he would be going on expedition and recording in a specific location. “Life’s a Trip 2. Every last song will be recorded on a yacht. Taking trips for this! Gotta see the world and work”. On “Bando Kid” is mixing some elements of heavy metal and trap rap, making for a nonstop thrill ride. Trippie’s wailing vocals over the epic guitar riffs and punchy drum kicks feel grand in scope. Overall, this one of his best offerings as of late and you should rock out with him using the link below.

Pete Rock Goes Bar For Bar With Common On “All Kind Of Ideas”

It is safe to say that Common and Pete Rock are pouring their souls into this upcoming album, The Auditorium, Vol. 1. The July 12 release will be the first time this tandem has made a full-length effort together and so far, it has yet to disappoint. These East Coast legends have given fans two offerings from the tape, and they include “Wise Up” and “Dreamin’”. Both cuts feature incredible jazzy, boom-bap production, as well as intricate lyricism from the Be MC. However, Common and Pete Rock are apparently looking to one up themselves, as “All Kind Of Ideas” proves to be equally impressive.

Things are a little different on this single, as Pete is now laying down some bars. “Keep your top five, I’m god’s favorite producer / Sixteen bars of pressure, no metronome / Thinking outside the box, that’s a better zone“. It is clear that he wanted to deliver his best stuff as he is in fact trying to complement the lyrical mastermind that is Common. “On the mic, I’m Micah Parsons any subject I tackle / And grapple with wack dudes / And school n****s like black schools ‘cause they lack rules“, the Chicago MC spits. Pete and Common have both been thrilled to share this passion project with fans since they first teased it, and we are just as anxious them to get this out on July 12.

Latto Is On Another Playing Field With Multi-Phased Banger “Big Mama”

The female rap scene is churning out hit after hit this year it seems, and we are here for it. Latto is one of those leading ladies right now, and songs like “Big Mama” are the reason why. From her to stellar feature on Anycia’s “BACK OUTSIDE” to the threatening “Sunday Service”, Big Latto is putting her heels on the necks of her competition. This has the possibility of being the sixth single from her upcoming album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. “Big Mama” was previously teased a couple of weeks ago on social media, and from the snippet, it seemed the song was going for more of a syrupy and seductive, R&B vibe.

Well, that is partially true, as Latto and her fleet of talented producers (COUPE, Tay Keith, OZ) switch things up halfway through. The intensity level goes from 0-100 almost instantaneously, as her flows and bars get more aggressive. Throughout the 2:54 runtime, she talks about various feelings one experiences throughout a relationship. From insecurities to being incredibly smitten, she covers it all. Like the instrumental, Latto is dynamic, as you get hints of seriousness, vulnerability, and humor all in one.
