Lancey Foux Links With Underground UK Acts Fimiguerrero & Len For Joint LP “Conglomerate”

If you thought Lancey Foux was the guy in the underground UK drill scene, CONGLOMERATE is here to showcase some other acts on the rise. The highly versatile rapper and singer is working Fimiguerrero and Len, two extremely energetic talents that have come up with each other. Since 2019, both of them have proven to be as equally ambitious as Lancey. That’s especially true when it comes to expanding what listeners can come to expect from the subgenre. According to some fan discourse online, CONGLOMERATE was allegedly supposed to be a joint release between Fimiguerrero and Len.

If that’s true, it makes sense because Lancey is not on this album nowhere near as much as the unofficial tandem. This body of work is here to feature Fimi and Len, and hopefully, this will be there coming out party. It’s certainly possible for that to be true because these two are a blast to listen to. The lyrical content may not be strong, but most hip-hop fans know that isn’t drill’s MO. The chemistry and colorful beats are where this project thrives and its clear from the ethereal and dark opener “Blackbirds.” There are so many other great examples of taking the production in all sorts of directions, so check it out below.

Che Noir Bodies Some Home-cooked Beats On “The Lotus Child”

Sometimes, hip-hop artists don’t always enjoy the writing and rapping aspect the most. Sometimes, they like getting behind the boards and piecing together melodies and instruments. That was the case for Che Noir, Buffalo, New York rapper and affiliate of 38 Spesh. She said it herself in the announcement of her latest record on social media. “I can’t wait til y’all hear what I cooked up on these beats. Production was my first love before rapping so it means the world to me to be back producing for myself,” Che Noir said about The Lotus Child. This her latest release in a busy 2024 that’s been filled with singles and an impressive EP in The Color Chocolate, Vol. 1.

If you aren’t too familiar with Che’s discography, her self-producing a project isn’t anything new. According to Underground Hip-Hop Blog, she was able to lay down some beats for her fourth EP After 12. Given all of this experience and passion for beat making, it’s not at all a shock that the soundscapes are lush and excellently crafted. Che is able to hit you with dark and aggressive boom-bap and vintage-esque R&B flavors as well. But all of this creative energy isn’t lacking in her performances on the mic at all. She raps about love, difficulties, and losses in her life, so the diversity is there topically as well. It’s another standout effort from Che Noir, so give it a try below.

Scarfo Da Plug’s Estate Shares First Posthumous Tape “From The Other Side, Vol. 1”

At the beginning of March 2021, the hip-hop community lost an underground soldier by the name of Scarfo Da Plug. He was a New Orleans rapper who carved out a role in the trap space and was steadily on the rise. He had been making noise since 2017 and broke through when he delivered Eviction Notice 2. Multiple songs from the tape are still some of his most streamed to date such as “Happier,” “Problems,” “Bad Influence,” and “Stressed Out.” He still has loyal fans to this day, even though his estate has not been releasing anything from the vault. Well, today that all changes, as Scarfo Do Plug’s From The Other Side, Vol. 1 is here as of Thursday.

However, this posthumous project comes during a frustrating and saddening time for the MC’s loved ones. Since two murder suspects from Georgia were arrested a few years ago, there hasn’t been much headway. This week though, the murder trial for Scarfo Da Plug was supposed to begin, specifically October 21. However, for some reason, things were pushed back until December, according to an update on IG from his family. They were releasing Scarfo Da Plug’s From The Other Side in celebration of justice beginning to be served. But even though they are dealing with this setback, they felt they couldn’t keep it any longer. We continue to wish the family and friends of Scarfo well during this painful period.

Evilgiane & Guapo Drop The Perfect Trap Banger For Spooky Season With “Halloween Freestyle”

Their aren’t many producers like evilgiane right now, and there may never be. The Yonkers, New York native now based in Brookyln has been shifting the culture in the underground scene for several years now. His Surf Gang collective has become one of the hottest things in that area of hip-hop thanks to their innovative production choices and unique performers. In fact, their sound has become so popular that evilgiane has been able to work with some of the mainstream powerhouses such as Kendrick Lamar, Baby Keem, Maxo Kream, and more. But in staying true to his roots, he’s still experimenting with rising stars more often than not. Today, evilgiane is back with a new single “HALLOWEEN FREESTYLE,” which features Houston rapper Guapo.

As you can tell by the title of the track, it’s got a spooky season vibe going on right down to the ominous cover art. The beat is extremely chilling thanks to the twinkly and ghoulish synth patches. Additionally, Guapo’s cold and violent vocals and lyrics add some extra tension, upping the eeriness tenfold. The instrumental sounds like it was taken from an 80’s horror movie’s score. Evilgiane makes it sound dramatic, but he doesn’t go over the top with it one bit. “HALLOWEEN FREESTYLE” is the first time these two have worked together, and it follows a series of releases from giane. He just dropped off a collab tape with Harto Falion called .BloOdY-gEeKeR* at the end of September. Additionally, the veteran had some singles with SADPONY and sniper2004, as well as with Nourished by Time and Goner.

ELUCID Gets Gritty & Real On “REVELATOR”

ELUCID may turn some casual listeners off with his new album REVELATOR due to his wordy bars and chaotic production. But for those that want to stay and here what the underground New Yorker has to say, you are going to be rewarded. This is his third studio LP and its out under Fat Possum Records. ELUCID teased it back in August with a pair of singles, “INSTANT TRANSFER” and “SLUM OF A DISREGARD.” The former features his Armand Hammer co-star billy woods, who has another feature on the 15-song set. On REVELATOR, ELUCID is presenting pressing topics that relate to oppression, racism, violence, and more. One thing that all of these issues have in common is that all require a sense urgency to quell these societal dilemmas that plague everyone.

The frenetic and industrial production across REVELATOR exudes that tenfold, as does ELUCID’s delivery. It’s loud still in the midst all of the raucous happening around him so his messages don’t get lost. It’s really a perfect balance and it’s got us thinking it’s going to be an album of the year candidate when it’s all said and done. There’s still about two and a half months left, but it’s certainly cemented in our top 10 if not top five at the moment. You owe it to yourself to hear what ELUCID has to say and offer in terms of sounds. So, check it out with the links below.

Nettspend Teases His Debut Project With Fresh Single “F*ck Swag”

Nettspend is a 17-year-old artist who has been dominating the underground rap scene over the past year or so. Artists like him, xaviersobased, OsamaSon, and many others have been eliciting tons of internet buzz. Overall, their sound is not for everyone. It is heavily autotuned with lots of distortion and effects that can make some songs incomprehensible. However, it is a sound that is defining the next generation. Moreover, Nettspend is creating even more buzz for himself as he is looking to drop his debut project Bad Ass F*cking Kid.

To promote this new project, Nettspend just dropped off a single called “F*ck Swag.” The song comes with a music video from Cole Bennett, which you can watch down below. This track is quintessentially Nettspend through and through. From the trippy production to the autotuned vocals and catchy melodies, Nettspend is making his sound something palatable to the masses. Only time will tend if he becomes a breakout star, or remains in the confines of the underground.

Let us know if you are a fan of this new Nettspend track, in the comments section down below. Did you know about Nettspend beforehand? Have you been keeping tabs on underground hip-hop and the young acts coming up through the ranks? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Blu & Exile Reassert Themselves With “Love (the) Ominous World”

There aren’t many better than Blu & Exile when it comes to underground hip-hop tandems. Or is there really any above them? That is a question that you may want to pose to yourself after listening to their newest project. That’s right, this weekend, Blu & Exile are here with Love (the) Ominous World, their latest collaborative record as a group. This is their fourth one to be exact, and it’s their first since 2020’s Miles. Heading into this Friday, the multi-hyphenates had given fans two songs to chew on before dropping off the other 10.

The grand and celebratory closer “Love Is Blu”, and the head-nodding West Coast bop that is “Gold” led things off terrifically. Some of the songs on this album really see Blu at his most braggadocious. “Undisputed” is perhaps the most obvious one of the bunch, and it’s also one of the best here. On top of great rapping, Exile is also giving you quality in the instrumental department. From great disc scratching to bumping drum patterns and everything in between, he’s really giving you his peak self. Overall, it’s a fantastic return for Blu & Exile as a pairing and we highly encourage you give it a try.

Rome Streetz & Daringer Preview Their Upcoming Collab Project With Hazy “Sage” Featuring ScHoolboy Q

Rome Streetz is one the most stalwart undergrounders that we have going right now. You can always go to him for solid rhymes and bars, in addition to head-nodding East Coast hip-hop rhythms. Pretty soon, he will almost assuredly deliver one of those listening experiences again in just a few weeks. On October 4, him and veteran producer Daringer will be dropping their joint effort, Hatton Garden Holdup. Given that it’s named after a longstanding London jewelry store, we are expecting a luxurious tape. Part of that expectation comes from the lead single “Starbvxkz”.

The production has a glamorous feeling to it, thanks to its twinkling and soft piano melodies. It’s been making us float since we’ve heard it and “Sage” by Rome Streetz is having that similar effect. With his brags and hazy beat, you can easily lock in, close your eyes, and feel the vibes almost instantaneously. Here, we are also getting the first feature for the eventual release. ScHoolboy Q’s verse and drawn-out vocal delivery perfectly matches up with the mood. Overall, the track really does have a heady quality, and it may do it better than its predecessor. Fans can expect to have 13 songs, with features from Conway the Machine, Cormega, and Meyhem Lauren too. Give “Sage” a try with the YouTube link below.

ELUCID Ups The Weirdness & Unconventionality On “THE WORLD IS DOG”

ELUCID (E L U C I D) is aiming for another one-of-a-kind listening experience with the release of “THE WORLD IS DOG”. This is the third single from the New York City rapper in the last month or so, and it’s also going to be one that lands on a new album. REVELATOR will be his second LP of the year when it hits streaming platforms on October 11 as he already dropped off We Buy Diabetic Test Strips. That was his collab record with billy woods that dropped in February. However, it was also Armand Hammer’s seventh tape as a duo. ELUCID is not done working with billy though, as they will have two more songs together on REVELATOR.

We got one of them already in “INSTANT TRANSFER” alongside “SLUM OF A DISREGARD” which were singles one and two. So far, ELUCID is aiming for a real dystopian like atmosphere for this upcoming LP. There’s lots of distortion thanks to the erratic nature of the production and flows. “THE WORLD IS DOG” has more of that, as ELUCID raps in spoken word with great ferocity. As far as the beat goes, there’s a sense of chaos with its industrial and fast-paced drum patterns. Finally, in terms of the theme, it’s pretty loose as well. But it seems like ELUCID is aiming to focus on arrogance and being able to live a life that he wants and he’s not going to let anyone dictate it.

C4Y Continues To Build Momentum With “SLOTH (I’S CLOSED)”

C4Y is a fresh face for us at HNHH, but the Chicago, Illinois native has been around the block for a little bit now. He’s got singles dating all the way back to 2020 and project as old as three years. Also something to note about him, is that he is always ready to drop at multiple points throughout the year. In 2021, C4Y gave fans a short, four-track EP called HAUS TAPES, Vol. 1, and OMFG. 2022 consists of B4, C4, and MONEY CARS DRANK, which has a deluxe as well. Then, in 2023 he put out Made Me Laugh and Pain Fosters Art. 2024 has yet to see an LP or EP, but C4Y might nearing one of those with the release of “SLOTH (I’S CLOSED)”.

This is the sixth single from the soon-to-be 24-year-old underground rapper and its coming on the heels of “GREED (PROMISE IM PAID)”. In fact, that track is logged as our first piece for C4Y, so we are happy to be continuing to cover his growth as an artist. Speaking of which, how would we describe his style? Well, we did cite that we hear bits and pieces of Playboi Carti and Lil Baby, previously. We would say that remains true, at least for the former on “SLOTH (I’S CLOSED)”. C4Y isn’t rocking the deep voice that Carti’s been sporting lately, but he sounds more like the latter’s earlier work. He melodically raps in a high register with help of auto-tune, but it doesn’t sound overly processed. We could see this being a new hit for C4Y thanks to the melodies he creates both with his flows and the twinkling piano leads laced into the glitzy instrumental. Hear it for yourself with the link below.
