Isaiah Rashad Speaks to Joe Budden about his sexuality following sex tape leak

Isaiah Rashad

Gay pride month is just days away, but it seems like despite the progress of the LGBTQ movement, many are not quite ready to embrace male homosexuality within the hip-hop community. However, artist Isaiah Rashad appears to be on a mission to change that, addressing his sexuality with following a leak of a sex tape in which he engages in sex acts with other males.

The video began making its rounds on the internet and social media back in February, but Rashad had not directly publicly addressed the questions surrounding his sexual preferences.

Budden interviewed Rashad on Joe Budden TV. During the lengthy interview, Rashad explained that he had spent the last several years exploring not just his sexual preference, but his identity as a whole, describing it as a growing experience of sorts.

When asked directly about his sexual orientation by Budden, Rashad responded with the following: “I’d say I’m sexually fluid, I’m still learning about it myself. I’m putting my head in the books to find out the basics of it, but basically … I’m more attracted to a personality. I’m more attracted, sometimes, to the intellect.”

The interview comes after Budden and others had discussed Rashad’s sexuality without consulting with him first. At Coachella, Rashad even featured a video montage of clips of Budden and others including The Game, Akademiks, and others discussing the video from an uninformed perspective. However, the video at the festival cut from the footage to a narrator’s voice that said “The purpose of doing that was to embarrass him [Rashad]. However, it backfired. When his video leaked, his streams and everything went up. He’s up on the charts now.”

New Elvis Movie to Feature Major Hip-Hop Stars including Doja Cat and Eminem

Doja Cat Elvis

Elvis may be known for the blues, but the new movie about his life will feature some of hip-hop’s hottest names including Doja Cat, Eminem, CeeLo Green, Tame Impala, Swae Lee, Diplo, Jazmine Sullivan, and more.

The biography about the famous late artist aptly titled Elvis, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this week. The biopic is directed by Baz Luhrmann (The Great GatsbyRomeo & Juliet) and stars Austin Butler in the lead role as Elvis. The movie also stars Tom Hanks and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

The soundtrack, which will be released on June 24, the same day the movie hits theaters, is already getting almost as much hype as the film itself, namely for its eclectic mix of artists, many of whom have integrated his music into their own original works.

While the soundtrack itself is still under wraps, Doja Cat already teased her piece at Coachella last month. She performed her song “Vegas,” an interpolation of Elvis’s 1956 hit song “Hound Dog,” receiving rave reviews from the audience and critics alike. A sample is available on YouTube.

The other artists have not yet teased their work on the album, but it appears based on an Instagram post that Eminem and CeeLo Green have a collab on the soundtrack. In addition to the previously mentioned hip-hop artists, other notable names on the soundtrack include 70’s icon Stevie Nicks, Europe’s Måneskin, country artist Kacey Musgraves, new rapper Nardo Wick, Australian dance music trio Pnau, and other emerging artists.

In addition to gracing the album of what is already likely to be one of summer’s hottest films, Doja Cat has a busy summer coming up as she prepares to embark on The Weeknd’s Dawn FM arena tour.

Elvis Presley, often dubbed “The King of Rock and Roll” or sometimes just “The King,” was born in 1935 and died on August 16, 1977.

Screen Shot 2022 05 25 at 12.16.24 PM

While posthumously celebrating the 50th birthday of the Notorious B.I.G., Diddy participated in TIDAL’s Twitter Spaces convo about the King Of New York, where he shared some of his most memorable experiences with the late Brooklyn legend. One memory that has raised eyebrows, especially during the country’s opiate epidemic, is Diddy telling the story of when he and Biggie first tried Ecstacy on the set of the “Hypnotize” video.

During the TIDAL convo, Diddy said, “Ah man, the video was fun.” He continued: “That was like the first time we both tried ecstasy. I mean, it was an experience, you know what I’m saying? Ayo, Biggie’s 50. Check this out, we have nothing to hide. That was a long time ago… it was the first time. It was just a little nibble, it was all right. It was a little nibble. But we was in extra high, high spirits. Yeah, this breaking news and s**t. F**k it. On his 50th birthday, I wanna let y’all know that.”

Cardi B Gets Wax Figure at Hollywood Wax Museum

Cardi B Hollywood Wax Museum wax figure 2

While many celebrities get called “plastic” by critics, Cardi B is now quite literally plastic as the Hollywood Wax Museum in Myrtle Beach, NC recently added a wax figure of Cardi B to their lineup.

The lifelike statue features a blonde Cardi complete with tattoos wearing a bedazzled two-piece costume similar to what she’s worn in her past performances, holding her arms up as if she is performing in front of an audience and pointing to them.

As for creating the wax Cardi? The Hollywood Wax Museum describes the process on their website, explaining how it take seven artists more than three months to replicate some of the world’s biggest stars, explaining the process as such:

“We start with a simple lump of clay, some measurements and a handful of photos. A clay sculptor then molds the clay into a remarkable likeness of the star, right down to every mole and wrinkle. Next, we start our work with wax. A mold is created using the clay head and face, and a molten mixture of natural and petroleum-based wax is poured inside to form a rough waxen image. We then begin to whittle down the wax to reveal appropriate wrinkles, fine lines and other unique markings of each forehead and face. The masterpiece is completed by adding the details of the eyes, ears, nose and lips. Then, it’s time to bring the wax to life. Appropriate color is applied to the skin and features and hair is inserted one strand at a time. Meanwhile, the wax artist creates hands that not only look anatomically correct, but will work just right with the figure’s stance and hand gestures.”

They then add a custom designed costume and props to complete the look.

As with all things, the internet is divided with some calling the statue realistic while others had their criticisms. As for Cardi? She appears to be here for it, sharing a photo to her Instagram story with the caption “Naaa this wax determine of me lit. I believed this was actually me ayoooooo.”

Cardi isn’t the first female hip-hop star to recently get a wax figure. In 2020, Madame Tussauds unveiled a wax figure of Nicki Minaj inspired by her Anaconda video.

Billie Eilish Steps up Her Sneaker Game with new Air Force 1 Release

Billie Eilish sneakers

Kanye West and Billie Eilish may not see eye-to-eye on much, but one thing they have in common (aside from being chart-topping artists) is the fact that they now both have their own sneaker line.

While Ye has been in the sneaker game for quite some time with his Yeezy line, Eilish only recently entered the game with her neon green Air Jordan KO and most recently, with the debut of her Air Force 1 High last month. Now it appears that a Billie Eilish x Nike Air Force 1 Low is about to drop as well.

Eilish, who is one of the rare female artists with her own sneaker collection, has definitely imprinted her style in the Air Force 1 High, an oversized chunky style featuring five mid-foot straps over the laces. The entire upper (including the Nike swoosh) is a beige-ish colorway that she simply calls “mushroom.” (The sneaker is largely made with eco-friendly and recycled materials.)

A first glance at the Low model shows a departure from the monochromatic style of the High with two slightly different colorways on the upper in a block-like pattern overlaid by the Nike swoosh. Instagram account @solebyjc shared a sneak peek of the latest drop, which as of yet, has no release date.

Grammy-Award Winner Lupe Fiasco Prepares ‘Drill Music In Zion’ Album, Drops New Single

Screen Shot 2022 05 19 at 2.31.25 PM

Today, GRAMMY-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco announces his next album Drill Music In Zion, out June 24th via 1st & 15th / Thirty Tigers imprint. The announcement comes with the release of the first single from the album “Autoboto”.

Twisting and contorting the English language to fit the meter and his every whim, Lupe Fiasco uses his superb lyrical skill to process the changing world in which he lives. Drawing connections between the concrete and spiritual in his hometown of Chicago, Lupe announces Drill Music In Zion, his next album. The product of a burst of thoughtful spontaneity, Lupe created the new album over a short period, diving into a folder of beats sent by his longtime producer Soundtrakk and emerging with a fully-realized album in just three days. “Soundtrakk is the swordmaker, I’m the samurai,” says Lupe. “He’s the mechanic, and I’m the driver.” Armed with Soundtrakk’s soulful sounds, Lupe creates a focused statement that reflects on the past and paves a way forward, preaching strength through mindfulness and self-sustaining community.

Mischievous, playful, and deceptively dense, “Autoboto” gets its power from Soundtrakk’s creeping keys and modal guitar melodies and Lupe’s mantra-like hook. The rapper weaves meticulous metaphors and wry words of wisdom, proclaiming his fierce independence even as he decries the uselessness of individual rebellion in the face of rising tides of corruption and industry: “Why buy a tub when the Bayou a flood/Better buy you a sub/How you gon survive in the club, you gon kayak it, cuz, when they rise up above/And the waves come and push and the tidal’s a shove/What’s an infrared dot to a whole dot gov.” At the end of the song, Lupe cedes the mic to Nayirah, who slows down Lupe’s hook to a languid tempo and allows the defiant message to marinate.

His first new album since 2018’s DROGAS WAVE, DRILL MUSIC IN ZION marks the start of another chapter in Lupe’s illustrious career. The proud Chicago native has already had a busy 2022, marked with sold out shows, new music, and much more. Lupe recently closed out his “Food & Liquor Tour,” a series of performances in which he plays his debut album in full. He paid tribute to his hometown in the reflective, self-produced “100 Chicagos,” and dug into the archives to share “Hustlaz,” a previously-unreleased song originally recorded before the release of the now-classic debut album Food & Liquor. Beyond music, Lupe continues to focus on the community organizations he founded, including We Are M.U.R.A.L, The Neighborhood Start-Up Fund, Society of Spoken Art, and his cross-cultural content venture, Studio SV.

Lupe recently launched his “LFT” program, a new NFT program that allows fans to get closer than ever to Lupe. Unlike many NFTs, which solely exist in the digital space, the “LFT” program offers token-holders an array of online and offline benefits. The benefits start with a generative art profile pic–each LFT holder gets a unique digital artwork inspired by Lupe’s album Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, which celebrates its 15th birthday this year. With DRILL MUSIC IN ZION on deck, an invigorated Lupe Fiasco seeks to prove once again that few rappers in history can rhyme like him. Stay tuned for much more from the legendary artist in the coming weeks.

‘I’m Charlie Walker’ Revisits One Of the Biggest Oil Spill Clean Ups In History

Screen Shot 2022 05 17 at 7.47.14 AM

The biopic, ‘I’m Charlie Walker’, starring Mike Colter who played the epic character of  Luke Cage is heading to the big screen.

Back in 1971, the story of Charlie Walker, a Black Man with one truck and big dreams began.  In the early morning of Jan. 18, 1971, two tankers owned by Standard Oil collided under the Golden Gate Bridge, spilling 800,000 gallons of oil spilled into the San Francisco Bay. It would be the largest oil spill in Bay Area history, and an event that changed Charlie’s life forever.

After the spill, 99 percent of the workers were unionized white truckers, hired to clean up the city’s major tourist draws, but through sheer luck and persistence, Walker landed a contract to clean up distant Stinson Beach in Marin. He got the job none of the white truckers wanted nor did they want to take orders from a Black man. His smarts and tenacity rubbed a lot of “white folks” the wrong way, simply for being present.

Despite constant racial tensions, 5 Million Dollars and 30 Days later Charlie managed to clean up the coastline in record time to the States satisfaction.  The oil company continued to harass Charlie all the way to criminal court. Charlie Walker is an 88 year old living legend that fought the system and won.
