Tyrese’s ongoing court battle with his ex-wife Samantha Gibson took a new turn, as the singer-actor lost his bid to replace the judge presiding over their child support case. Despite Tyrese’s efforts, the judge denied his request for a new judge, leaving the singer-actor in a difficult position.
Motions Denied
On Wednesday, Dec. 6, Tyrese lost in his fight to replace the judge presiding over his divorce battle due to an alleged bias.
The judge ultimately ordered the Baby Boy actor to pay $10,000 per month in child support for their daughter, Soraya. The judge emphasized that the child support was not a punishment but meant to benefit their child.
In September 2022, Tyrese and Samantha Gibson faced off in court, with both sides testifying on the stand. However, Samantha later accused Tyrese of not complying with the court-ordered support, claiming he had been paying significantly less than the required amount.
Tyrese, in turn, argued that he believed the child support order was excessive and accused the judge of bias against him. The judge found Tyrese in contempt of court but did not send him to jail. Instead, he ordered him to pay $237,000 in back child support and $400,000 to cover Samantha’s legal fees.
Tyrese’s Attempt To Change His Outcome
In an attempt to change the course of the case, Tyrese demanded that Judge Farmer be removed from the case. The Fast X star alleged that the judge had canceled a hearing related to his appeal of the back child support order and unfairly imposed a $450,000 bond for the appeal.
However, Samantha responded to Tyrese’s request, stating that his allegations were baseless and without merit. She stated in court filings:
“The Court is quite familiar with the procedural history of this matter and Respondent’s regular, frivolous efforts to delay and avoid the enforcement of any of the Court’s Orders with which he disagrees. The accusations and allegations contained in Tyrese’s Motion are baseless, without merit, and certainly not legally sufficient to support the recusal of Judge Farmer.”
Despite Tyrese’s claims, Judge Farmer denied his motion, citing the lack of factual evidence showing personal bias on the part of the court. Since the ruling, Tyrese has remained silent regarding the court order on social media.
