Tyler Perry Accused Of Not Paying Viral Meme Star Antoine Dodson For “Madea” Cameo

Antoine Dodson, better known as the star of the viral “Bed Intruder” meme, has accused Tyler Perry of not paying him to cameo in A Madea Christmas. Dodson said that Perry had reached out and a verbal agreement had been made. However, Perry allegedly never followed through with compensating Dodson for his work. Perry is yet to respond to the allegations.

A Madea Christmas came out in 2013, around three years after Dodson found viral fame. Dodson is credited as “YouTube Guy” in the film. However, fans have not been wholly sympathetic. Some people have teased Dodson for coming after Perry now he’s “broke”. Others have accused Dodson of claiming that there was promises of compensation when none was agreed upon.

However, Dodson is not the only person coming for Perry. A graphic scene explicitly showing gang rape in a recent episode of Tyler Perry’s Ruthless has left fans stunned. The scene appeared in Season 4, Episode 13 of the long-running drama about a woman seeking escape from a sexually exploitative religious cult. While the show has often dealt with heavy topics. However, this moment appeared to go beyond the pale for many viewers.

Furthermore, the ripples have gone far beyond the pond as the response to the scene in Ruthless spread. Fans also took aim at Perry for co-opting the stories of women (while explicitly showing harm to them as well). This manifested in the response to the first released images of Six Triple Eight. The Kerry Washington-led film, directed by Perry, tells the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-Black, all-women overseas battalion during World War Two. The Six Triple Eight is a deeply overlooked piece of military history, serving as the only predominantly all-Black Women’s Army Corps battalion during the Second World War. However, especially in the wake of the latest episode of Ruthless, many have questioned by Perry is the one directing the project. The irony of a man directing the story about an overlooked part of women’s history has not been lost on many commenters.

Following Katt Williams’s footsteps, Mo’Nique utilized the platform to take aim at the likes of D.L. Hughley, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, and reignite a years-old feud with Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry. Mo’Nique sparked her feud with Tyler Perry well over a decade ago, and despite occasional lulls, the conflict has never found a resolution. Here’s a look into what she said, and the origins of the age-old feud.

The Feud Began During The Precious Press Tour

After filming wrapped for the movie Precious, where Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry served as executive producers, Mo’Nique received a request to embark on a press tour to promote the film. The Original Queens of Comedy performer agreed to appear in promotional interviews and talk shows but refused to fly out to attend the Cannes Film Festival in France. Mo’Nique claims that producers urged her to promote the film at the prestigious event, though they explained that her appearance would be unpaid, as it was not part of her original contract for the film.

Mo’Nique refused to attend and later, issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter expressing her frustration with the producers. “I’m doing a talk show, I’m doing a comedy tour,” she said. “I have a husband and I have babies. I have a little bit of downtime and I’m going to take advantage of it. So I’m not going anywhere because I’m not obligated to go anywhere. I’ve done my part.”

The Beef Is Currently In A State Of Limbo

After speaking with Al Sharpton, Mo’Nique says she received radio silence from the reverend for over 6 months. “The next time we saw Al Sharpton, he was on a podium talking about ‘We don’t need to fly commercial, cuz we can fly Tyler Perry’s private jet.’ …that’s why maybe I’m not hearing back from him,” she explained during her Club Shay Shay. Beyonce Shows Up In Support Of Kelly Rowland’s New Movie Premiere

Earlier this week, Tyler Perry’s newest film had its premiere. The movie is called Mea Culpa and it stars Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland in the lead role as a defense attorney. Unsurprisingly, the premiere was a star-studded event but even bigger stars than anticipated arrived. Rowland’s former DC bandmate Beyonce was in attendance for the big event. But that’s not all as she brought Tina Knowles and Jay-Z along with her.

Beyonce shared a series of snapshots from the premiere to Instagram the next day. In the post, she showed her support for Rowland in an even more direct way via the caption. “Dats my best friend! Last week, Mo’Nique’s eagerly anticipated Club Shay Shay interview finally dropped, and as expected, the performer didn’t hold back. She went in on several of her celebrity peers, including Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, D.L. Hughley, and more. She even put the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry on blast, accusing them of having “blackballed” her from the industry.

According to her, she even allegedly has a recording of Perry admitting that he was responsible for starting a rumor that she was difficult to work with. As for Oprah, she says the mogul has “stolen” at least two film roles from her. Even before the interview was released, fans were drawing comparisons between Mo’Nique and Katt Williams, whose similarly explosive Club Shay Shay appearance went viral last month.

At one point in her interview, Mo’Nique claimed that Williams was speaking facts during his, and even called him her “Fraternal Twin Brother” amid the tour announcement. So far, the tour has been a major success, and supporters are out in full force for Mo’Nique.

In one clip, she’s seen getting onstage in Connecticut on her first night of the tour, where she was met with a thunderous round of applause. Almost the entire audience stood to show love to Mo’Nique, leaving her in awe. During another set, she issued a pseudo-apology to those she called out, including Oprah, Tyler Perry, Stephen A.
