NBA YoungBoy Attempts To Postpone Federal Gun Case

NBA YoungBoy’s defense attorney Drew Findling believes that the rapper’s federal gun case should be postponed in order to wait for additional rulings from higher courts on similar gun cases to ensue which could set new precedents and alter the results of his trial. He made the argument in a brief he filed last Monday. The prosecution, on the other hand, argues a similar case in the U.S. Supreme Court from earlier this summer regarding Zackey Rahimi is sufficient.

YoungBoy’s legal team’s case relies on the notion that prohibiting someone’s right to own a firearm, even a felon, is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. As for the Rahimi case, it centers around whether the person in question is considered a credible threat to society. In turn, Fielding says despite YoungBoy being a felon, it was never proven he remained a danger. “After Rahimi, it is still an open question whether Congress can simply prohibit all convicted felons, regardless of the nature of the felony, from possessing a firearm, or whether such prohibitions can be applied without individualized findings that a particular defendant presents a credible threat to the safety of others. And finally, it is an open question whether such prohibitions may be permanent,” he wrote.

Fielding hopes for a delay in the case to wait and see how United States vs. Collette and Garland v. Range play out. YoungBoy’s trial kicked off on July 25. He’s also facing legal trouble for an ongoing prescription drug fraud case in Utah. That’s already been making numerous headlines, with fans at one point interrupting the courtroom to shout “Free YB” and telling Judge Spencer Walsh to “shut your b*tch as up.”

YoungBoy’s status as a felon stems from a 2016 shootout in which he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm. Be on the lookout for further updates on NBA YoungBoy on HotNewHipHop.

YNW Melly Tells Family “I’m Coming Home” During Recent Court Appearance

The drama surrounding YNW Melly and his long-running courtroom drama has taken yet another turn. A few weeks ago the judge in the case declared a mistrial after the jury couldn’t come to a definitive verdict. In the weeks since the prosecution made it clear that they would be seeking out a mistrial. Late last week that paperwork was formerly filed and the date for Melly’s next trial was set. The second trial is officially set to begin on October 2nd, a full five years after the shooting Melly is on trial for.

Now it appears YNW Melly may know something we don’t. In a recent court appearance cameras caught Melly mouthing a message to his family. That message is “I’m coming home,” which carries some massive implications despite its brevity. It’s unclear exactly what Melly meant but fans online began speculating immediately. Melly is retaining his legal team from the first trial for the second one. Perhaps he is confident that with a second time around they will have an even stronger defense that can result in an innocent plea. You can watch the short clip of Melly’s message below.

YNW Melly’s Message To Family

In the wake of the mistrial being declared stories began to leak out to the public on how it went down. Initially, YNW Melly’s mother claimed that the jury came down 9-3 in favor of Melly, leading to a mistrial. Later a reporter who has been covering the case disputed the claim and insisted that the jury was hung on a 6-6 split tie.

Later on, one juror spoke publicly about the proceedings and had a very different take. “From day one, she had issues with the foreperson selected, at one point crossing her arms and saying she was ‘Done!’ When another juror asked to not shut down and set her feelings aside, she exploded. She was explosive, manipulative, she was rude, she yelled insults at anyone who had a different opinion. She was there to cause chaos,” the juror explained. What do you think of YNW Melly’s newest message to his family? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lizzo Update: “Special” Singer Could Face Trial Over Former Dancers’ Troubling Allegations

As much as we would like to believe that the accusations about Lizzo earlier this week aren’t true, the Detroit native’s former dancers continue to stand their ground. On Tuesday (August 1), they filed a lawsuit against the multi-talent and others on her team, explicitly accusing them of creating a hostile work environment, among other things. One of the plaintiffs accused Lizzo – a plus-sized woman known for empowering others to love the skin they’re in – of fat-shaming her before eventually firing her for weight-related causes. Elsewhere, the dancers allege that the Yitty CEO pressured them to break their boundaries during a trip to a wild Amsterdam strip club.

As the gossip has been making rounds online this week, Lizzo responded via Instagram on Thursday (August 3). Many, including her past employees, were unsatisfied with the message, notably calling the 35-year-old out for seemingly glazing over the allegations of sexual harassment in favour of only addressing weight shaming. An attorney for her former dancers, Neama Rahmani, has now entered the chat and suggests we may see Lizzo in court over the situation.

“Given Lizzo is denying that any of this happened, let’s take it to trial,” the West Coast Employment Lawyers president declared this week. “More witnesses are coming forward every day corroborating the plaintiffs’ allegations, so we’re looking forward to facing Lizzo and her team in court,” they added. While there are others who have shared their own unpleasant experiences working with the “Truth Hurts” hitmaker, internet sleuths have also uncovered videos of the same past employees who are currently taking legal action previously praising their boss for inspiring them with her work.

Part of what’s left the world so confused about the troubling allegations about Lizzo is her frequent messages about body positivity and self-acceptance in her music. Kevin Spacey Found Not Guilt Of Sexual Assault Charges In U.K.

Kevin Spacey broke down into tears at a U.K. courtroom after a jury found him not guilty of nine charges relating to sexual assault and indecent assault, as well as causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity. The jury, consisting of nine men and three women, spent two days deciding the case after hearing the details over a four-and-a-half-week trial at Southwark Crown Court in London. After the jury read the verdict, Spacey addressed a crowd of media members outside.

“I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today. But I would like to say that I am enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached the decision,” Spacey told the media.

Kevin Spacey Addresses The Media

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – JULY 26, 2023: US actor Kevin Spacey addresses the media gathered outside Southwark Crown Court after being found not guilty of sexual offences against four men in the UK between 2001 and 2013 following a four-week trial in London, United Kingdom on July 26, 2023 (Photo credit should read Wiktor Szymanowicz/Future Publishing via Getty Images)

He continued: “And I am humbled by the outcome today. I also want to thank the staff inside this courthouse, the security and all those who took care of us every single day, my legal team … for being here every day and that’s all I have to say for the moment. Thank you very much.”

Throughout the trial, four different men who made the complaints against the actor spoke. The most serious complaint stemmed from a man who claimed to have regained consciousness in Spacey’s London apartment with the actor performing oral sex on him. Spacey argued the encounter was consensual. Had the jury found him guilty, the charge of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Kevin Spacey Thanks The Jury

The legal victory for Spacey comes after he won a $40 million civil lawsuit brought by actor Anthony Rapp, last October. Rapp previously accused Spacey of committing sexual battery against him in 1986.

YNW Melly Trial Reaches Jury Deliberation

After weeks of testimony and years of anticipation. YNW Melly’s fate will soon be known. A few days ago after presenting their final arguments, it was made clear that Melly would not testify in his own case. The defense and prosecution then rested both of their cases. Now, according to Pitchfork jury deliberation has begun. That jury will be responsible for uncovering whether or not Melly is guilty of first-degree murder charges stemming all the way back to 2018.

According to prosecutors, YNW Melly murdered two of his friends after leaving a recording studio one night in 2018. They then propose that he had an associate bring the pair to a local hospital alleging that they had been shot in a drive-by shooting. Melly’s defense has spent weeks trying to refute various claims made by the prosecutors. Details like whether or not bullets were fired from inside the car, when Melly was actually inside the car, and what motivations he might have had to commit either murder have been poured over for weeks. The Broward County jury now have the fate of the rapper in their hands.

Jury Deliberation Begins For YNW Melly

Earlier in the week prosecution scored a victory. They were allowed to read some of YNW Melly’s texts out loud in court. Despite the defense arguing that many of them weren’t directly related and that specific texts to Melly’s mother would unfairly sway the jury, they were ruled eligible. One particular text seemed to stick out to many. Melly reportedly texted Peezy Gambino “I did that” following the alleged double murder.

The move to deliberation comes after multiple delays to the trial that kept it going on far longer than many fans anticipated. A final delay resulting from illness in the court was made last week. Once everyone returned it didn’t take long for the presentation of arguments to wrap up. Jury deliberation is expected to last until at least tomorrow. What do you think the jury will ultimately decide in the YNW Melly case? Let us know in the comment section below.

YNW Melly Trial Hit With Delays Amid Illness In The Court

Many fans are currently tapped into the ongoing YNW Melly trial. Overall, this is a massive trial as it could determine the fate of Melly’s life. The prosecution is seeking the death penalty in the case, which means the stakes are higher than usual. Moreover, Melly is being accused of double murder, which is extremely serious. He has been in custody for almost five years at this point, and the trial has gotten very testy. The prosecution and defense have had their fair share of wins and losses, with some of the proceedings going viral online.

Throughout the last few weeks, the prosecution has been questioning witnesses on the stand. Overall, this includes a steady stream of detectives, family members, and friends. For the most part, these witnesses have been cooperative, although, on some occasions, that has not been the case. After a week off due to July 4th, the Melly trial is back this week. However, it is already being suspended until Monday. According to the Sun Sentinel, it is because Melly’s lawyer Raven Ramona Liberty got sick.

“There’s nothing anybody can do about it,” the judge explained. “You’re sick. You’re sick.” Now, both the prosecution and the defense will have a couple of days to really think about their arguments going forward. Of course, there are still plenty of witnesses left to take the stand. Furthermore, they have to do closing arguments before the jury is tasked with a very tough decision. Ultimately, this is just yet another roadblock in what has been a less-than-smooth trial.

There remains a developing story with twists and turns at every corner. That said, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. YNW Melly Allegedly Hid From Police In A Suitcase

Earlier this week, a clip of YNW Melly just before he turned himself in to law enforcement was reportedly played in court. Prosecutors played the clip, which apparently shows the rapper filming himself from within a suitcase, for Judge John Murphy on Monday (July 10). He’s seen whispering to the camera in the video, “My name is Melly, and I’m going to turn myself in.” He continues, “But I’m in a suitcase because these c***kers are arresting me, and I want to get on a private jet so they don’t see me.

This is just another bizarre element throw into the already controversial trial. Melly is accused of killing two of his friends back in 2018, YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. According to him, a drive-by shooting is what took the young men’s lives. However, investigators appear to have evidence that supports otherwise. A previous expert’s testimony summarized forensic evidence that suggests gunshots were fired from inside of the Jeep. There’s also evidence that seemingly suggests his innocence, however, with none of Melly’s DNA being found in the vehicle on the night of his friends’ deaths.

Melly Whispers In A Suitcase Before Turning Himself In

Melly turned himself in at Florida’s Miramar Police Department in February of 2019. He’s been in custody ever since, with his trial kicking off last month. According to Bryson “Boom” Paul, Melly’s defense recently moved for a mistrial. A Tweet by Paul reveals that the rapper’s team feels as though his character has been called into question amid the legal battle. David A. Howard told the judge, “We ask that the court put a stop to this.” Judge John Murphy denied the defense’s motion for a mistrial.

The trial has continued to heat up, with Melly facing the death penalty if he is found guilty. His streaming numbers have been climbing, with some online users even placing bets on whether or not he’ll be convicted. Earlier this week, it was also reported that Melly’s mother feels threatened by some of the comments made online by YNW Juvy’s sister. She even has her own bodyguard now due to the alleged threats.

Judge Denies YNW Melly’s Team’s Motion For Mistrial

YNW Melly is currently on trial, accused of killing two of his friends, YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. The murders took place in 2018, and Melly has been in jail since 2019 for his alleged crimes. His trial continued today, and this morning his defense moved for a mistrial. According to Bryson “Boom” Paul, the team claimed that Melly’s character is being called into question amid the public legal battle. “We ask that the court put a stop to this,” David A. Howard told the judge. Judge John Murphy reportedly denied the defense’s motion.

The ongoing trial has been fairly controversial. Melly’s defense claims that the two men were killed in a drive-by shooting, which experts have called unlikely. According to a testimony by detective Sgt. Christopher Williams last month, the alleged victims’ gunshot wounds point to shots being fired from within the vehicle. If Melly is found guilty of the alleged murders, he will be facing the death penalty.

Melly’s Defense Says His Character Is Being “Tainted”

There is some evidence currently stacked in Melly’s favor, however. Investigators were unable to find his DNA inside the murder vehicle back in 2018. Further, no gunpowder residue was found on Melly’s person on the night of the alleged murders. According to earlier reports, as of yesterday YNW Melly’s mother Jamie King now has her own security. Law & Crime’s Terri Austin says that King was allegedly threatened online by the sister of one of the victims.

A testimony earlier this week by a friend of Melly’s, Treveon Glass, puts the 23-year-old at the home of rapper Fredo Bang the night of the alleged murders. According to Glass, Melly was wearing different clothing than what he was seen wearing in surveillance footage previously shown to jurors. Melly’s trial has continued to spike the rapper’s streaming numbers. People have even started placing bets online as to whether he’ll be found guilty or not. Regardless, the trial has been a hotly debated one, with stakes remaining high for the accused.
